It is a more pricier than most places, but I come here to pamper myself. Yes the recliner chairs and bowls are a controversial choice, but I do actually prefer these because it's easier to sanitize, even if a salon is using a massage chair and plastic wrap. I don't really use the massage chair at pedicures. The homemade scrubs they do are what really brings it home. Most places don't really do that anymore, so it's one of the highlights, and reminds of Jaydn Taylor in Alameda back in the days. They are also detailed in what they do and the vibes are really relaxing. I just wish they had a Walnut Creek location, but we talked about how expensive rent was there and how they would need to make the prices higher there. read more

I've been here twice with my friends and I think I owe the staff here a review by now. Le Petit Nail Spa is located around Berkeley Hills, in a cute neighborhood. Both times, my friends didn't have issues looking for parking, so this is a plus. The first time we came, we had lunch around the area and asked if they can accommodate us. We stuck gold, when they said they have time for us after our brunch. I came back again this weekend, but we scheduled an appointment with them this time. Both times, the technician was ready for us and were very welcoming. The place is pretty clean and and relaxing, as I found it surprising that you aren't overpowered by the smell of nail polish. Huge bonus for that! My friends and I did all get a manicure and pedicure. Joy ended up being my technician and gave me some suggestions on what color nails I should do, since I wanted to match my outfit (if you know me you know me). Joy is actually a great tech, she's very patient and didn't rush the process. Joy sparked joy for me when she recommended the scrub. It wasn't just any scrub, it was a coffee scrub. I love the smell of coffee and this literally made my weekend. My feet felt so amazing afterwards and my nails looked so cute! The edges are frayed. I'm so disappointed. I don't spend money like this on myself very often. The whole appointment felt very rushed (hardly any massage, basically no work on callouses, etc.) and they sent me out on paper sandals before my toes were dry because they had more people coming in. They don't have hand or foot dryers or even real foot basins (let alone the massage chairs that most nail salons have these days). And while the nice lady had to get pliers out to cut the thick burly big toe nails on both feet and use all of her strength to squeeze them tight enough, closing her eyes and clenching her teeth in the process; the rest of the event was peaceful. This place was clean with Mylar screens in front of each BarcaLounger reclining chair, worthy of a spot in any man cave so comfy. Quick efficient clean. Easy parking right out front. I went twice for mani-pedis in the past month and they do a great job. They're efficient and thorough and my gel manicure lasted 3 weeks without chips. My pedicure polish also last 3 weeks, which never happens at other salons. I loved the warm towel wraps on my feet and ankles. I've been coming to Le Petit for a while now and Joy is my favorite nail tech. She did these spooooky nails. I felt pretty safe because I haven't been back due to covid. But they wipe down the chairs after every use and temperature check new clients. I was nervous getting my nails done again but felt safe once I got there. I got a pedicure and manicure. Joy did a great job and took her time on my hands and feet. Really sweet crew. Only minus one star is because I think I got overcharged as I only got shellac on my hands and not my feet and I got a classic mani pedi not "signature" so make sure to clarify as I think they thought I got the signature but I only got the classic and only had shellac on my hands. I wished the massage on my feet was a bit longer. Overall good experience though. I made a last minute appointment for a basic manicure; I inquired about the price to confirm the $12 price (according to a photo of the prices on Yelp), however it has gone up to $14. The salon appears to be super clean and extremely organized and very inviting with nice lighting, music and comfortable chairs. Ven was my manicurist and she worked quickly and efficiently, the manicure was completed in about 20 minutes. It involves a fairly quick soak in a couple bowls of soapy water with little stones in the bowl (which I thought was a nice aesthetic addition), then the basic polish removal and cuticle push down and agreed to simply cutting the loose cuticle along the side of nail (I've been challenged about this request in the past at other nail salons) An update: they've been charging an extra fee for CoVid cleaning, it became too expensive, so I stopped going. Still a quality place to get your nails done, but you can't really just walk in and it's on the spendy side. read more

At the salon on Solano, the chairs are not spa chairs at all. Your feet soak in a bowl they bring to the floor under your chair, and it is not heavy or weighted, so it's very cumbersome. I was a walk in and this is the place I normally go for pedicures however I will not be going back. When you check out you do not get the option to tip as you like and only give 22, 25, 30 percent tip. I am a good tipper however when my hand is forced I get a little reluctant about services that are rushed out the door. I feel this place is a chop shop without real customer service and you are rushed out. Plus there products are old and need some thinner of new products. For me, the most important thing was to be able to make a decent appointment. Many salons sadly aren't as organized as Le Petit and often have language barrier. Their system is so organized and accommodating with my schedule. And also those ladies there work so hard and do the great job and always try hard to meet my expectations. They are already part of my routine. I've never tried the hot stone treatment but I should try and to see how loud and noisy the treatment is gonna be like the customer's review! The seats here are really comfortable with reclining seats even if you are not getting a pedicure. While you are waiting and getting your service done, they offer water, tea, and coffee which is nice. Everyone that works here are very nice and like to strike up a conversation with their customers. They are very attentive to details and make sure that their customers are happy with the service they are receiving. I was really looking forward to the hot stone pedicure I scheduled, this is the only nail salon I've seen with this service. Unfortunately it was rushed and uncomfortable. The nail tech was throwing the stones around and banging them so loudly during the service that another patron complained about the "noise". The nail tech continued banging them together, disrupting everyone's salon experience. The towels were extremely hot, and her technique was inconsistent. It was very disappointing. Lastly, the chairs at the solano location are uncomfortable. They're these strange, squishy recliners, and she had me position myself in this strange scrunched up position to accommodate her comfort while doing my pedicure. Excellent massage though. Don't be late! She called me in the car 3 min after my appt asking if I was going to make it. Threw a lot of attitude. I was 5 min late. Wasn't just me though. I went there for a pedicure. The lady cut me twice. It hurt. I screamed once. She tried to blame my skin. I get weekly pedicures and decided to meet up with friends at this location. I regret it. It was a waste of my $35. She was rude. Once she cut me the pedi was over in less than 10 minutes. She didn't scrub or cut my nails. Just painted them. I'm patting myself on the back!!! I chose the perfect nail salon to bring my 4 year old for her very first mani/pedi (Princess mani/pedi $20)! I was able to make a reservation for us and we arrived on time and expected. The nail spa was so tranquil and inviting, not your typical nail salon with a row of nail stations and massive pedicure chairs with attached bowls. This place was PEACEFUL, guys!!! They had tasteful, comfy lazy boys and they did our mani pedis right there and then with a large bowl brought to us to soak our feet and even utilized the recliner on the lazy boy chair for my little one. I was actually really happy it wasn't the traditional pedi chair because I wondered how my daughter would reach the bowl. They used a step stool for the bowl and it was perfect. I chatted with Tipi, she was so sweet to me and my daughter. Her and Van worked on me and another young lady (name?) worked on my daughter-- they were so friendly, helpful and so impressed with my daughter. They always made sure she was comfy and ok-- even lifting her up and scooting her back so she was in a better position instead of slouching in her lazy boy. My daughter sighhhhhheeed in contentment and said to me, "Mommy, I love this place!" We are just so happy with the service and the actual nail work + quality. Everything about my daughters 1st experience at La Petit Nail Spa was exceptional -- setting the bar high for this 4 year old! Smh! What have I created?!!? Lol!! Hey even host birthday parties so I'm pretty sure I know where my daughter wants to have her 5th birthday with her gal pals! How awesome would that be?!
