Katie is the most amazing waxer. She has perfected her skill, ensuring painless waxes and ingrown hairs are a thing of the past. Especially impressive is her awareness of how your particular skin reacts. She really pays attention and with each subsequent appointment, she builds her knowledge of your skin and your body. With her deep knowledge of skin care and how it relates to the entire body, she uses those observations to adjust her technique to ensure the highest level of comfort for you. She also shares her observations with you, how they relate to other things happening in the body and helping you learn more about yourself. Never have I received this level of personalized and thoughtful care. She makes you feel totally accepted and cared for. Also of note is the beautiful, clean and cozy space she has designed. Soft diffused light falls from the skylight, creating a safe space where life's hard edges have been checked at the door. She is not just a waxer. She pours her heart and soul into her craft and her clients are the luckiest of beneficiaries. I cannot recommend her enough. read more

Katie is awesome. I went in yesterday for a Brazilian and I had such a great experience. The studio is cozy and clean, and Katie reallly went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable. The pain was minimal, and we were having a great conversation during, so it took away the nerves and pain too! She also paid great attention to detail and wasn't trying to rush anything. I'll be back for sure! read more

I have been a loyal customer to Katie for 3 years. I have gone to other waxing places but none have compared to the service and quality i've gotten from Katie. She makes you feel so comfortable and welcomed into her space. She is professional but at the same time you know you can talk to her about anything during your service. Its a friend and waxer all in one. Even thought waxing is painful it does not feel that bad at all when i'm with Katie. Her space is always clean, nice music, and overall so welcoming. I am so glad i found her and will keep going to her no matter what! read more

After years of my parter recommending I wax my back, I finally took the plunge! Sanctuary Wax Studio is an adorable boutique waxing studio tucked into one of the cutest neighborhoods in Berkeley. The studio is difficult to miss and has plenty of street parking. Once inside the studio (which is shared with an extremely talented masseuse), you are greeted by the lovely Katie. Getting waxed in any capacity is an intimate experience and selecting a waxer that will put your mind at ease makes the entire experience way more comfortable - especially as you are trusting them to make the experience as painless as possible. Katie does just this, and more. Additionally, Katie takes all precautions to protect the skin during and after the process. As she does her thing, you can expect great company. She will educate you about the waxing process as well as make recommendations to heal the skin and avoid ingrown hairs. Katie is very thorough and my back is completely hairless after my waxing. I have gone to Katie for 2 waxes so far (5 weeks apart) and each experience resulted in a hairless back that my partner LOVES. If you are looking for a waxer that will not only leave your waxed body part of choice hairless, but will also make getting waxed something you look forward to, Katie is your gal! read more

I've been seeing Katie for Brazilians for the last couple years and I wouldn't think of going to anyone else. Katie is incredibly knowledgeable and skillful; her expertise and professionalism are beyond. She creates a welcoming environment and experience - I always look forward to my monthly visits with Katie; she is so authentic, caring and sweet. Katie is an amazing esthetician! First off, she has a very calming presence. From the moment I first met her, I was instantly at ease (which is not usually the case when I'm partially naked in front of a stranger ). The wax itself was really good - Katie is gentle, very knowledgeable, and thorough. We talked throughout the wax - about things like ingrown hairs, but also just about life!Talking with Katie is so effortless. The time honestly flies by. I wasn't sure about how often I should get waxed, so she walked me through how to determine my growth pattern and she was very willing to adjust based on my needs and preferences. I appreciated the time she took to advise me. Katie offers the best waxing experience I've ever had. I highly recommend! read more

Katie is THE only one allowed to wax me! I met her in Oakland 4 years ago and have been working with her ever since. Yes, now I'm traveling to LA to get my Katie wax! WHY? She understands sensitive skin and sensitive people. She has mastered the bikini wax to be practically pain free and side effect free! She customizes the wax combo based on your skin and reaction so you know you'll always have the best result. I'd never looked forward to my waxing, until I met Katie! To add to her flawless waxing skills, she is sweet, warm, funny AF and treats every client as she hopes to be treated. She's welcoming and inclusive and makes a sticky job fun! I cannot believe other waxers get away with what they do elsewhere- the torture! If every esthetician took the care Katie does, I'm fairly certain we'd have world peace. Do yourself and your body a huge favor of self love, go see Katie! read more

Stop. You don't need to search anymore, Katie is the absolute best you will find I promise you! She is knowledgable, professional, and her technique is on point. The entire place is spotless, and you can tell she takes pride in what she provides to her clients both in services as well as environment. What also displays the caliber of her top tier service is the wax, this stuff I swear is magic, it's fragrance free so means no irritation on my sensitive nose and not to mention no reaction to my skin, absolutely no issues post wax I kid you not! As for Katie, I can't say enough good things about her, she's personable, considerate, and is a joy to talk to, I learn something new every time we speak. Katie is not only a precise, thoughtful, fast and brilliant waxer, she's also one of my favorite people ever -- she's like a Funfetti cupcake come to life. Going to get a wax with her feels safe and easy, but most importantly, I feel like I walk away with greater confidence and love for myself not only from the wax but from Katie's attentiveness. I've been going to Katie for Brazilians for over three years now and I'm constantly impressed by her love and care for her clients, her professionalism and courtesy, and how amazing I feel afterwards. I recommend her to literally all of my friends and family, and anyone who has body image issues who needs a safe space to get an intimate wax without judgment or negative vibes.
