I come here anytime I need a bikini wax. Rasheedah is always very thorough and generous with waxing the bikini line (even for a basic!) so there are no peekaboos at the beach! My skin is very sensitive, but I do notice with sugaring the area recovers much more quickly compared to regular waxing and definitely feels better than shaving. My experience with Rasheeda was that she has zero interest or patience in helping people new to sugaring feel comfortable or assist with pain management. Tried a couple of times and during most recent appointment she did not finish the sugaring and left it all looking like a mess. Also I was chastised rudely for pushing her hand away once (instinctively from pain) while a large patch was being removed roughly and I was in a lot of pain. Basically said her service is only available for 10-15 minutes and she doesn't have the time to go slower or remove in smaller increments to manage pain better. I came to get a french bikini. This would be my first time sugaring and I'll definitely be returning. I usually wax but I have low pain tolerance & after a bad experience I decided to switch to sugaring. The pain is A LOT less than with waxing, and you don't have to preempt the heat of the wax touch your skin. Rasheedah also did a great job at starting a convo to avoid focusing on the pain and was quick & detailed. The location is under remodel but the room itself was clean and organized. It's in a residential area so theres plenty of parking (I came late morning during a weekday) and theres a coffee shop next door if you'd like to grab a drink before/after. Rasheedah is amazing at what she does and is such a genuine person. I've have electrolysis in the past so I've greatly thinned down my underarms and bikini areas, but some hair still stubbornly exists so I've been sugaring for the past couple of years. I'm not sure whether it's Rasheedah's magic technique or if it's the fantastic Caribbean Candy she uses, but I went to one sugaring specialist in Marin for nearly two years and I went to one in Foster City for a couple of sessions, and somehow after just one session with Rasheedah I had noticeably less growth after 5 weeks. Honestly it's probably both her and the products she makes and uses that are top-notch. Her technique is great and fast too so our sessions are nice and short. They are not completely painless (we are talking about pulling out hair in sensitive areas by the root after all), but she's so quick I barely have any discomfort. The location is nestled within a quiet residential neighborhood. At the waiting area you can find homemade organic body scrubs and things for purchase. They also have a nail area and rooms for sugaring. The sugaring room had the perfect temperature. The process itself took some getting use too. It's sticky. Smaller sections vs a longer wax strip. I booked a gel mani and a pedicure royale as a special treat for my birthday. This cute little spa is located in a residential area of Oakland which felt quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of my neighborhood in Downtown Oakland. When I arrived I was greeted at the door by the owner Rasheeda, she offered me some freshly brewed tea and I was delighted to see she had her own range of natural hair products that she makes herself displayed in the lobby. I browsed them while I waited. I was taken care of by Theresa who promptly escorted me back to pick my colors for my mani pedi while she wrapped up with another client. The place has a serene vibe with shades of lilac and sage as part of the decor and some of my favorite music played softly in the background. I was looking for a simple but unique look for my mani and had a specific color palette in mind. I wanted a different color on each nail in similar nude shades with one contrasting nail. I wanted a sort of ombré effect and wanted a certain shade on each finger. I gave my request to Theresa and she was happy to oblige me with all 5 colors for my mani and a glittery gold for my pedi. She worked on my pedi first and ladies if you want a true spa experience go for the royale! The handmade scrub Rasheeda makes smells great and made my feet tingle in a good way! Theresa and I shared great conversation although I may have zoned out a bit while she was massaging my feet with hot smooth stones. It felt amazing and I felt a tension leave my foot that I didn't realize was there! Theresa took care to make sure I was comfortable with the temperature of the hot towels and hot wax used before she put them on and asked if I felt any pain as she trimmed my cuticles. Once that was done she helped me over to the mani table and ordered my polishes in the way I requested them to be applied and patient in letting me change the order just before she applied them. Rasheeda came over just before I was finished and we started discussing hair products and she asked me questions about what types of products I use. As a special birthday treat, she gifted me her Wild Melon Deep Conditioning Masque! I was so excited. She also asked for my feedback on how the product works for me and assisted me to check out. I switched from hard wax Brazilians to sugaring in 2015 or so, and it was such a great decision! Not only because Rasheedah is amazing at what she does, but sugar wax leaves my skin much happier and I rarely get ingrown hairs like I did with hard/strip waxes.
