I started going to Hadiyah last year Aug/Sept so we're coming up on our anniversary of sorts. Where and how do I even begin to sing praises about her and her studio? (1) Self-care central. Hadiyah does waxes and facials. I have her Glowgang membership where I pay a set fee every month and depending on the price you pay and the tier you're on, it comes with a set of services. The diamond gang, the highest priced one, includes a customized facial, a Brazillian wax, and a discount on the other services. For me, this monthly expense is part of my self-care budget. Once every month, I drive to Oakland and spend about ~2 hours in the studio getting everything done from my eyebrow wax, armpit wax, Brazillian, and a facial. (2) Service. On top of being able to get all my "maintenance self-care" stuff in one spot, she's excellent at what she does. My skin and my relationship with my skin have improved tremendously over the year I've been going to her. Re: my skin, the texture has definitely improved. I still get the occasional breakout but the healing and the lightening of the skin because of facials and the products Hadiyah uses feel faster. (3) The studio. The studio is small, clean, and homey. She is moving to a different location but I am sure the overall vibe will be similar. (4) The products. Hadiyah also creates and sells her own products that she uses during her service. Using Magic Milk and Hydracadabra at home feels like a spa day every time because it's was she uses at the studio. Majestic No. 8, a mandelic serum, does wonders on my acne and hyperpigmentation. TLDR, Hadiyah is wonderful and if you're looking to treat yourself on a regular basis, her studio is the place to go. read more

Please don't waste your money going to Hadiyah! I don't understand how she has a number of good reviews given the service she delivers. I was extremely disappointed! I can go on and write paragraphs about my negative experience, but it's unnecessary. All you need to know is to LOOK FOR ANOTHER ESTHETICIAN!! I'm so sad to write this review. I love black-owned small businesses but this was not my favorite place. I went to visit Glowdega yesterday and had the Essential Glow Facial. I was a new client who knows little about skincare, but I thought I'd come in after a couple of bad breakouts that left me with hyperpigmentation. I'm not sure how effective the facial was since it's only been a day. I will come back with an updated review in regards to that. When I left Glowdega, I was still confused about my skin and what it needed. If you are looking for just a facial, with product recommendations then this is for you ( my skin was NOT assessed and information was NOT communicated to me before product recommendations so be weary). I'm not sure why they would recommend the Essential Glow Facial to new clients if it doesn't include an assessment of the skin. If you're new, and this review doesn't discourage you, either go for just the Skin Scan ( which is 70 bucks) or the Acne Glow Package which includes the skin scan. Do not do the Essential Glow. It's only 45 minutes and it's not enough time. As a newbie I needed more time for assessment and discussion. Lastly, I would find someone who will educate you, take their time with you, and encourage you during your skincare journey. Unfortunately, I did not get this from Glowdega. I hope this helps someone. There are other great estheticians in the Bay Area. There are two locations that she works out of; one in Oakland and one in Pasadena. It's been years since I've had a facial and while Fairy Glow Mother has been on my radar for awhile, I finally decided to treat myself to a facial in recent months. As a new client who has been trying to manage my own skin care regimen, I opted for The Glow Experience. My visit was during pandemic protocols and Hadiyah was very friendly and professional during my session. The vibes were great (loved the music and setting) and the facial was such a relaxing experience (I almost fell asleep). It's been just a few weeks since I've been using the custom routine I received and I'm seeing improvements that I wasn't seeing with my previous one, and the list of alternates was much appreciated. I've been seeing Hadiya now for at least a year and she is amaaaaaazing! My eyebrows are always on point when she does them. She also does sugaring for the bikini area and she is incredibly thorough and knowledgeable. I had never had a facial before and I was super nervous but Hadiya is incredibly professional and has made skincare so accessible for me. She was so warm & welcoming when greeting me at the lobby. She asked questions about my facial routine and made me feel right at home. As a guy, I've never gotten a facial. In fact, I've kinda felt uncomfortable walking into a place and knowing what to ask for. So when my homegirl recommended FGM, I was like ok, why not. I've been going to Hadiyah for a few years now, following her from Fremont to Oakland. I've gotten facials, chemical peels, and my first session of lip blushing done (you need a couple sessions in order to get the desired final outcome. Waiting for my next one, but I'm LOVING the results already!). Everything is always amazing! I first went to her after dealing with a terrible breakout which left my skin in shambles. After my first facial, my skin was already making drastic improvements! After the facial she also sends you a customized routine, with different product recommendations in different price ranges. I have been seeing Hadiyah for about a year now for facials and consultations: she is always very professional and I feel extremely spoiled every time I come to see her. You can tell she has definitely taken the time to hone her skills because every single thing she does during my 30 minute to 1.5 hr (!!) appointments with her feels amazing and my skin is wayy better for it. For context, I have struggled in the past few years with moderate adult acne where I have had breakouts all throughout my cheeks and chin (and it is very likely hormonal, which means that it's something I will have to regularly manage throughout the years). Hadiyah has helped reduce the frequency and severity of the breakouts: other than my acne, my skin looks very healthy nowadays. I wish I could go to her more often: after every facial, my skin doesn't even feel like my own because it's so glowy. tldr; Hadiyah works miracles and is worth every dollar, including tax and tip ,and everything you buy from her, PLUS more! If you're reading this, should have booked your appointment... yesterday. The long version: I've spent most of my life relying on dermatologists' recommendations in order to keep my skin problems addressed, but nothing seemed to address them. Finally, I decided (on a whim) to stop relying on topical steroids and harsh chemicals and instead go to an esthetician. I learned about Hadiyah through some friends' recommendations, as they followed her on Instagram and Twitter, and booked a facial. The entire process is thorough and thoughtful, from the booking website, directions to navigate to her office in Oakland, the facial itself, and follow-up with an extremely customized routine that is mindful of budget constraints and explains exactly why certain recommendations were made. Hadiyah made the entire process suuuper relaxing and continuously checked in with me, and I felt so comfortable the entire time--probably because the music that was playing in the background is the best playlist I've heard at any spa/salon. At no point did I ever feel judged or insecure about my skin, and every recommendation made throughout the facial was backed with clear reasoning and complete honesty. I felt more knowledgeable about my own skin after one hour with Hadiyah than I have ever felt, and that includes hours of reading Reddit threads and getting yelled at by a dermatologist, and my usually sensitive/dry/red skin felt the most hydrated it's been in years. Updating my review! I still go to Hadiyah for my monthly facials. She provides the same attention to detail and level of care in maintaining my skin as she did during our first appointment. What's changed? She came out with her own skincare line! It's been effective in addressing my skincare needs and has helped me cut down on the amount of products I use. I've struggled with acne ever since hormones set in. Also, I never really knew what skin type I have and what works best for me, etc., which made it challenging to take care of my face. Picture heavy foundation hiding redness and zits ever since I was a young teen. (*tiny violins*) BUT THEN I finally booked an appointment and got my first ever facial. (I've had two in total.) * The JC Salon building itself is fairly aesthetically pleasing already (and easy parking!), so once you get to the suite, you're already feeling the luxury vibes. * Hadiyah's presence is soothing and calm; her touch is gentle and thorough. You leaving feeling just...so good. * Before and after the appointment, Hadiyah made herself available to answer questions and clarify different things. The way she talks about different products and skin types, you know she's so educated & up-to-date and very passionate about healthy skin. * During the appointment, as she let a face mask set, she put together my personalized skin care routine and emailed it to me. Hadiyah helped my son avoid accutane which was my main goal when bringing him. She took an assessment of his skin, including asking what he regularly eats, and made a plan. She gave us a timeline on when we could expect it to start looking like it was moving in the right direction and was very honest about how long the process may take. She made recs on products but did not pressure us to buy anything. She did a mild peel on him, and answered any questions I had prior to so that we would both be comfortable with the process. With regular care, she was able to get him to a place where he has some acne as most teen boys do, but it is far more clear than it use to be. The difference is amazing. He feels very comfortable with her and Bucky, and sees them both for maintenance. As an aside- he says Bucky is great too! read more

This is the third time I've seen Hadiyah and I will continue to come back! I've gotten two Brazilian waxes using the sugaring method and a facial. All of my experiences have been great and I want to continue trying the different services she offers. Hadiyah is the first person I've gotten a Brazilian through sugaring with and the process is soooo much better than the traditional way. It's not painful at all (IMO) and the wax (which is made of sugar, water, and lemon) is kept cool so I never have to worry about getting burned or the wax being too hot for me. The process does take a bit longer than a traditional Brazilian but if you don't mind having to lay down a little longer, it's not a problem at all. Since my first session, I noticed that I didn't have any irritation at all and that the hair took longer to grow back and it grew back thinner! During my second session Hadiyah recommended coming back in 6 weeks rather than the usual 4 weeks. If you're iffy about switching over to the sugaring method, don't knock it til you try it! Sugaring is definitely worth it! The facial I received with Hadiyah was very relaxing and the results were amazing. I was going on a road trip to LA right after with my friends and they all commented on how nice and glowy my skin was. The entire process went by too fast and I even fell asleep halfway through. I went in for a glow essential glow facial and wax and can say that this was truly the best facial I've ever had. I will 100% be coming back. The music was great and the overall space was organized and clean. Hadiyah was super gentle, friendly & knowledgeable so she really gave me the confidence to trust her with my skin. I chose the Essential Glow Customized Facial ($125; see below) this time but plan on coming back for much more! Hadiyah is very knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming & open, and really takes her time to analyze your skin to provide the best result and client satisfaction. Essential Glow Customized Facial includes: initial skin analysis, cleansing, exfoliation, personalized masque, top-quality treatment serums, massage The music was perfect and I found myself almost falling asleep (that's how relaxed I was and I'm usually not that relaxed) considering how gentle and soothing the facial (truly, Hadiyah) was. I don't know about you but I really enjoy having my pores cleared of blackheads and being able to feel my face become softer than it ever has been (as far as I can remember)! If only I had taken before pictures so I can share the difference in how my skin feels now; rejuvenated and soft! If you are not into hip-hop inspired blues singers, you should avoid this business because that is the only option available at a medium-loud volume setting. And if you don't like it, no music is not an option, neither is any calming spa music because that is not the vibe here. Wow. And if you decide to pass on the treatment because the singing is not your cup of tea, they will charge you for the appointment anyway. Non-negotiable. All this included for free with your wax along with some fuzzy math and take it or leave it "it's my way or the highway". A lot of Ho'oponopono prayers were said in my head during this session in order to get something for the money that was going to be squeezed out of me. Super rigid. Not a spa like vibe. Too bad. Response to owner's rebuttal: It's too bad you don't actually LIST YOUR UNWRITTEN POLICY that "it's my music my choice and if you don't like loud blues / hip hop singers, don't book with me". Hadiyah is by far the best esthetician I've ever seen for my waxing services. I came in for a Brazilian wax and she was quick, thorough and best of all, gentle. There was very minimal pain. I am someone who has been waxing for almost 5 years and has a low tolerance for the pain, but I push through and this was the easiest Brazilian I've ever had! She was knowledgable for all of the questions I had and to be honest, this is also the longest lasting wax I've had thus far. After looking for at least 6 months for an esthetician that I could be a regular for I finally found Fairy Glow Mother. I wanted to support a small business instead of the larger spas in the area. Then 2020 quarantine happened and I struggled with severe maskne breakouts. I turned to the social media advice of Hadiyah and a few other black female estheticians across the country. The first time I went to Hadiyah was in October 2019, as my best friends got me a facial for my birthday. It was my first facial ever and it was so nice! Hadiyah is super personable and I had a great time talking to her. I talked to her about my current acne concerns and she let me know her opinion as to what may be the causes, as well as research she was looking into which I thought was interesting and shows how much she cares. After this appointment she sent me a list of product recommendations at all price points which was very helpful to me. I also just had a virtual appointment with her about 6 weeks ago and without seeing me she was able to help me pinpoint the probable cause of my acne issue! As someone who has never really taken care of their skin and gotten acne until I was in my mid-20s, I was really freaking out but she helped me figure it out and recommend more products. I say "finally" because I've been looking forward to trying her services since hearing about Fairy Glow Mother last summer. Updating my review just to say Fairy Glow Mother is godsent! After my first appointment I was hooked and ended up signing up for her Diamond Glow Gang membership which included a customized facial and sugaring every month. Unfortunately FGM is way too good at sugaring and I only needed a wax every 8-10 weeks so eventually I ended up downgrading to the Glow Gang membership. I go routinely go in every month and FGM always, always leaves my skin glowing. When I first started coming I had real bad hormonal acne around my chin and cheeks, but the routine Hadiyah suggested to me has helped manage breakouts and my skin has done a complete 180. I no longer get cystic acne and my skin is no longer oily but more normal/combination. She has also come out with her own skincare line which I switched over to and her products are seriously MAGICAL! Moonshine is my favorite, but Majestic No. 8 is that B too. I've tried tons of different moisturizers but always end up going back to Glow Mojo. And if you actually follow the instructions, Magic Milk is the best facewash which leaves your skin feeling superrrr clean, plump, and moisturized every time. Basically the last two years or so I've been coming to FGM my skin has fallen in loveeee. I highly recommend her to anyone trying to get their skin right. I live about 45min-1hr away from Hadiyah's new studio but I willingly made the drive to see her! I've had online consultations with previous estheticians before but I really just wanted someone to work on my skin in person. And she did! Her space is super aesthetic and her music taste *chefs kiss.* But she was super thorough; she asked me about my exact routine - what products I used, how much I applied (you also fill out a very extensive form beforehand that helps her get an idea of your skin conditions, health habits, overall skincare goals.) During my facial, she told me exactly what was going on my face. And after, she sent me and email to check in on me and for an AM and PM routine with product recommendations and specific application instructions. Literally my face was the smoothest it had ever been in like, years, after the facial. And a few days later my breakouts were already starting to clear up. She even noticed breakouts around my hairline and asked me about my hair products and gave me advice on those!
