If you're contemplating booking a facial with Heather Johnson Studios in Emeryville, don't hesitate. Treat yourself to an exceptional self-love facial experience. Heather's facials are renowned for their effectiveness in treating acne scars and pigmentation. I've struggled with acne throughout my life, and as I age, my face requires more attention to address these issues. After just one visit to Heather's studio, my skin looked remarkably improved. I've had the pleasure of experiencing two amazing facials, and during each session, Heather goes above and beyond to pamper your neck, shoulders, and décolletage. She applies peels, scrubs, and a variety of nourishing products to your face, massaging and cleansing your chest, neck, and the entire area. One of the standout features of Heather's facials is her genuine knowledge and passion for skincare. She genuinely loves what she does and infuses each treatment with love and care. I feel well-cared for after her facials, and she's always willing to offer advice on how to address specific skin concerns or areas you want to improve. Heather's facials are a self-care treat for yourself. I leave her studio with my face fully extracted, cleaned, and glowing from the treatments I receive. I've also tried her Hydro facial platinum facial, which includes a relaxing session under the LED light. The LED light is particularly beneficial for brightening your face, making it an excellent choice for those with upcoming weddings or special occasions. I highly recommend getting this type of facial before an event to achieve radiant, glowing skin. Heather is an incredible small business owner who's a true girl's girl. She's passionate about sharing skincare products for the face, body, and home. I can't say enough positive things about her, and if you're serious about improving your skin or looking to treat someone to a luxurious facial and self-care experience, I highly recommend giving Heather Johnson Studios a try. Heather's studio is located in a hair salon and when you arrive you need to push the doorbell to alert her that you're there and make your way to the stairway and she will let you in to her studio. Located on 65th St. there's usually parking that is free outside of her studio and that's always a plus to not have to worry about parking in a safe neighborhood. read more

I had an amazing, rejuvenating experience at Heather Johnson Studios. Heather is very attentive and accommodating to your needs. She walks you through the procedure and product she uses. I left there feeling so refreshed, relaxed, pampered, and clean! I highly recommend this place. The facial and scalp treatment were incredible and worth every penny :) read more

I've been going to heather once a month for well over 3 years and my skin is in the best shape ever. Each visit is customized based on whatever is going on with my skin at the time (dry, oily, breakout) - although it's been years since I've had a breakout which is a testimony to keeping regular, consistent appointments. Heather knows what she is doing down to the cellular level and if she can't answer a question, she will go find out. Her products are excellent and her space is relaxing. She never, ever pushes her products on you. In fact, what she recommended for me is a combo high end/ low end products she offers + a few CVS purchases. My personal tips: 1) consistency, consistency, consistency! You'll only see the results you want if you see her regularly. It's like the gym, can't expect to lose weight going every once in a while! 2) I only go to Heather. If I'm at a spa, I refuse to let someone else touch my face. read more

I first starting seeing Heather for facials about a year ago after she came highly recommended by two separate friends (who both have very high standards). I'm in my 40s and I have sensitive skin, so am really picky about treatments, but my skin was looking and feeling kind of dull and I needed to get back into a regular routine. Heather really took the time to understand my skin and routines, had great insight into what was going on with my skin, and gave me an awesome treatment that left my skin glowing. I've been back every month since and I can say that it is money well spent. My skin looks great and Heather always has great advice for me on what to add or adjust about my routine. She's never pushy with any products and I have never felt like she's trying to upsell me on a treatment. Most importantly, Heather is so great at what she does, because she really loves it. She is curious about and keeps up with all of the latest treatments and techniques and she brings that knowledge to her clients. It sets her at a level above others and I cannot recommend her highly enough! read more

My first Heather facial was over 2 decades ago when she was at Festoon. I followed her to White Rose and now to the GORGEOUS upstairs space she designed at New Florence Salon. She's helped my skin from my 30's (minor acne and redness) to my 50's (wrinkles and sun damage). Being a swimmer, I have learned not to ignore her suggestions to protect myself, and she has pointed out pre-cancer spots early on that I have treated medically before they became a serious health issue. She is exceptionally professional and I always look forward to my appointments, much like I do a trip to a spa or massage. read more

Listen, I know a lot of you won't believe this, but in reality, I'm not all that hot. No, seriously. You guys! SERIOUSLY. I have a team of specialists whose job it is to create the paragon of uberhotness you're used to seeing, and one of them is Heather Johnson. My tolerance for pretention and snatchism hovers between zero and .000002 (which is why your ex gives me painful rectal itch-- you know who you are), so imagine how awesome Heather must be for me to say that she is FULLY AWESOME. She knows her shit, she's open, honest, friendly, warm, and supercool. I've had both waxing and facials from her for years and she is truly the best. Her waxing is thorough, competent, and gentle (as gentle as it can be), and her facials are as pleasant, welcome, and relaxing as three shots of vodka served to me on a silver tray by a young and shirtless Paul Newman while I watch your ex drop into the rancor pit. Ahhhhhhhhhhh. Now THAT'S living. You'll love Heather, and perhaps you will even emerge as hot as I am. I mean, not really, but I'm just trying to be nice. read more

I would highly recommend Heather Johnson for all your waxing needs. I've been going to see her for almost a year and I don't plan on going anywhere else as long as I'm living in the East Bay. Waxing will never be fun, but Heather's professionalism and gentleness make the experience as painless as possible. Her studio is spotlessly clean and smells nice and I love the location - right near the Rockridge BART - so you can check out all of the great College Ave boutiques when you're done! read more

Heather has invested in a process that infuses oxygen and serum into the skin, it is AMAZING!! Not only am I looking better but I really believe that I breath better after this treatment, it's like stepping into a oxygen bar. So treat yourself, I do. Thanks Heather for making this available, very few spas have this available in the bay. read more

My alarm goes off as usual bright and early at 6:30 a.m. There's a busy day at the office ahead, with two small children to tend to first. In a groggy half-awake state, I wonder curiously about the soft surface my hand's resting on. Did my baby son climb into the bed at some point in the night? Actually, no.... It's my face! I had a microdermabrasion facial from Heather Johnson the day before, and my skin is so smooth I can't even recognize it. That's how dramatically Heather improved my combination skin, which is flaky and dry in some areas, clogged and bumpy in others. If you have problems with your skin's evenness or texture, you owe yourself an appointment with Heather. P.S. She also started me on a truly effective skin care routine at home, and to quote Charlton Heston: "From my cold, dead hands!" is how I feel about my new Clarisonic facial brush. read more

I have been getting facials from Heather for well over a decade and absolutely LOVE her new studio in Emeryville. The vibrant atmosphere and serene vibe provide an incredibly relaxing experience. In addition to her great new space, I always benefit from her keen knowledge of skin care. She is always willing to customize my facial to ensure the best results. Definitely check out the Hydrafacial which is a new offering of hers. I was happily surprised by the immediate and dramatic results. My skin was radiant and positively glowed after I had one. A trip to Heather Johnson Studio is well worth your time and money. She's the best! read more

Sadly I have not been able to see Heather for a long while now due to budget constraints. When I did first see Heather my skin was a mess. Her skilled hands and plethora of skincare weapons helped my face dramatically along with some lifestyle changes. I saw her bi-monthly for a year. Facials are a luxury and they don't come cheap, if you're going to pay someone to mess with your window to the world they better know what they're doing, and that is definitely Heather. She is informed, precise and very helpful. I loved some of the products she suggested to me and others not so much but she never pressured me into buying anything. Since I'm still not able to afford the luxury again I thought I'd yelp her up but it looks like I'm not the only one who loved Heather! read more

I have been going to Heather for years and have been completely satisfied. She is a lovely, gracious person, so the experience is always relaxing, but she is also on her game. She keeps up on the latest skincare advances and technology and adds new services when she finds things that show safe, convincing results. She will also tell you when something very plain and inexpensive will do. To me, however, her expertise lies in the fact that she can treat all types of skin and all ages. As I age and have new hormonal changes, she adjust services and discusses options honestly. I use some of her well curated products and some I purchase elsewhere. She will recommend products but is never pushy and I find her recommendations spot on. I don't think she would ever leave you hanging with something that did not satisfy expectations. She usually has samples so you can try before you buy too. I trust her. read more

I was looking for just the right type of surprise to gift my older sister with upon her recent visit to Oakland. A facial with some 'extras' came to mind. Heather had been recommended by several clients over the past couple of years, so I thought I'd give her services a shot. I arranged with Heather ahead about the idea of this being a surprise as well as the time frame that I was looking for. She was accommodating, explained clearly what she thought would work best (as far as which type of service she could provide), and she listened to my concerns that the treatment feel so good that it would really rock my sister's world! She also went into detail about the products she intended to use so that I would feel confident that I was really going to get the most for my money. The result? My sister was SO "wowed" by Heather's facial that weeks later she's STILL talking about how amazing her skin feels! She's over 60 and spent many years slathered with baby oil on her light, freckled skin under the harsh rays of direct sunlight. She hasn't felt really great about the damage done for a long time now, but a treatment from Heather lifted her spirits - and her looks - that has lasted well beyond the gift I gave her. Heather really treated my sister well and helped me to bring some big joy into her life that makes me definitely want to use and recommend her services to anyone. Thank you, Heather! read more

I wish I lived closer to Heather's Studio! I've only gotten a facial from her once, but it was the best one I've ever had. (Though I have only had maybe 10 in my life so far.) Heather made me feel very welcome and comfortable and thoroughly cared for during the facial. She has a warm presence and genuine interest in her clients' individual skin needs. Left with a couple items she had available for sale, and I'm still happy with them. If I ever move to the East Bay, she'd definitely be my go to! And if I don't find someone at least as good as Heather here in the city, I just might have to make that trek whenever I can afford to. read more

I recieved a custom facial and had an ok experience. I have mild-mod acne and was hoping to improve the appearance of my skin, I have received other facials and was used to seeing a difference afterwards. The facial was relaxing and I did receive some extractions as requested but really did not see a difference in my skin afterwards. If you are blemish-free and would like a gentle facial this might be your spot however paying $100 to not see any difference in my skin was a let down. I made an appt w another esthetician a week later and she asked me, " what was done during the previous facial? You have a ton of extractions that need to be done?" read more

This place is great! I went here to get my first facial in 5 years and to change up my skin care completely. The facial was wonderful and Heather was so helpful and fun to talk to. All of the products she recommended are working brilliantly. She even got me samples (free of charge) of the cleanser to travel with (since its over 3 oz). I can't recommend this place enough. I also really like that I can schedule appts and ask questions via email. It can take a little while to get in because it is so popular but it's definitely worth the wait! If you are flexible there is almost always a cancellation before your scheduled appt so you can get in sooner. I have been receiving lots of compliments on how great my skin looks! read more

I've known Heather for more than a decade. What started out as an innocent brow wax has grown into a complete skin care and, ahem, manscaping relationship. Heather has kept the parts of me she touches looking as if they haven't aged a bit since we first met. She is cautious in her pore extractions but will be more aggressive if encouraged. Men that remember to shave before their appointment will be rewarded with a comprehensive series of treatments that exfoliate and hydrate, leaving your entire face soft and glowing. I always go for the 75-minute facial, since Heather gives good scalp and shoulder massages while the skin treatments are doing their thing. And her discrete and (nearly) painless back waxing keeps my woman happy, and we know how important that is! read more

Heather is amazing...I've been getting facials from her since 2005 and am convinced that I would not have nearly as lovely skin without her! She's really good at problem solving skin issues, offers great advice and can get her hands on some really fabulous skin products. Heather offers a wonderful relaxing experience. She focuses on the subtle things that all add up to nirvana! Warm towels scented with lavender, amazing neck and head massage, the MOST comfy robes and blankets. If you go see her once, you're going to be with her forever (or for as long as she's willing to do what she does). Three last words of advice: Valmont DNA Serum. read more

Heather gives the BEST facials-ever. Truly, I am VERY picky about facials and have had many over the years, but have never had any that come CLOSE to Heathers. Every detail is thought out during a facial with heather. Her room is a nest of comfort and relaxation and not only do her facials feel incredible, but she somehow makes your skin look airbrushed when you come out! Every time I have a facial with her, I get comments on how amazing my skin looks. She is very knowledgable about products, but NEVER pushes them on you-you can trust her recommendations totally. She creates an environment where she is so quiet and soothing during the facial that you can hardly believe how she does it. I don't know how she does so much in so little time and she still has incredibly reasonable prices. Its worth every penny. The whole experience is 5 star, but she's not pretentious, doesn't push products on you at the end, and best of all, your SKIN LOOKS AMAZING afterwards, truly, like its been painted on! She's the best $ I spend on myself!! read more

Heather is the best! She's been doing my waxing for well over a decade. She is gentle and thorough, kind, down-to-earth, and fun. The treatment table is so comfy, I would fall asleep if I weren't being waxed! Book your appointment well in advance--she fills up early. read more

Today, I experienced the most AMAZING facial this 66 year old face has EVER had. My friend Heather Johnson, owner of Heather Johnson Studio, Skin Care, gave me an oxygen infused facial. I hope that is right? From beginning to end, I felt the most pampering fingers and hands on my face, eyes, and neck. Her experienced, very talented artist hands, applied masks and serums, steam and oxygen...I was whisked away to pamper heaven. My face glowed and felt 30 yrs younger...I also learned SO much about my face and how to treat it..Heather explained what each product did, how it was applied, and what it would do for me. Heather is a pure treasure for sure. Here is a bit about her: Heather's boutique skin care studio is located within White Rose Skin Care in the Rockridge neighborhood in Oakland California. Heather offers skin care treatments and custom facials to clients from all over the Bay Area including Oakland, Walnut creek, and San Fransisco. State of the art technology including but not limited to microdermabrasion, LED Therapy, Ultrasound and chemical peels allow her to treat every skin type imaginable. Valmont, Glymed Plus, Tu'el, Clarisonic and Seda France provide luxury and efficacy. As an ethetician with extensive training and experience, Heather will treat your skin from the most educated clinical perspective possible while ensuring you have the most relaxing hour of your life. Her loyal clients come from NYC, LA, Denver and Portland to treat themselves to her most renowned service, The Signature Facial. Heather Johnson began her esthetics career at Festoon Salon in Berkeley, the premier salon for hair and skin care in Northern California. I would HIGHLY, highly recommend you seek out her services for the best skin care in the bay area, hands down. Thank you Heather, it was a dream come true all the way around!!! read more

i've gone to heather for years, since before she opened her own studio! she's awesome, i actually look forward to catching up with her every 5 weeks or so. she's the most knowledgable waxer i have ever been to, it's definitely raised my standards super high. good luck getting an appt though, i schedule mine over a month in advance just to get in the calendar :) read more

Heather is a talented and insightful esthetician. First of all, she creates an incredibly comfortable environment. She takes the time to learn your skin type and customizes her services to your needs. Over the years, she consistently stays on top of the latest techniques, tools and products. She is my person for skin care, I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Be nice to yourself, give her a try. read more

Heather is very a skilled aesthetician. My skin is as good as it was in my '30s thanks to her. She keeps me aprised of new options so that I may have the most optimal customized experience. I have been seeing her for about a decade and never get a facial anywhere else. She doesn't pressure me to buy only her products. She will advise which is the best regimen. read more

Heather is a skin zen master. I have been seeing her facials for over a decade. I started in my late twenties to address some random acne. She helped me develop a routine that worked for my budget and my skin the first half of my thirties were "great skin years" thanks to her. Then she was right with me as hormone changes freaked out my face when I was pregnant a couple times. Now, as I enjoy my early 40's, she provides expert and affective advice to help with my current set of hopes and dreams for my skin. Reducing spots and preventing little bumps and blemishes when they pop up. My monthly hour on her table restores, relaxes and sets me up for success so I can be confident as problem skin has been an issue for me my entire life. Go see Heather. Invest in her and yourself. read more

Heather is awesome! I almost didn't post this, because it will be even harder to get an appointment with her, but she deserves the praise. I have gotten several facials with her and she is the best. read more

I hate getting waxed, but Heather Johnson does the absolute best job and like others have said, her professionalism and gentleness make this waxing wimp able to bare it the results are great - hey, look I do have some eyes under those eyebrows! Her facials are amazing (particularly like the Tata Harper skincare line) and afterwards my skin is glowing for weeks. She is more than the best, she is a necessity! read more

I found Heather on citysearch a long time ago. I am very picky about who I see for brow waxing (after a traumatic experience in my early days that left me looking like a bad drag queen) and Heather is the best. She is professional, kind and understands how to make you look good! I have also had a facial with her and it is heavenly. Enjoy! read more

Heather is magical. Really. She was highly recommended to me by my hairstylist (another amazing professional) and words really can't express how wonderful her treatments are. As others have mentioned, Heather is professional, warm and friendly. The magic in her facials are her hands. She has studied accupressure so her facials are like massages for your face (I'm so spoiled by her treatments that I am STILL searching for a massage therapist who has that same touch she has). It's so amazing and peaceful spending time with her. I visited her regularly during my pregnancy and not only did she educate me on the changes in my skin, but also made sure that I was always comfortable- especially in my 3rd trimester. I really appreciate artisans who are excellent in their crafts and Heather is one of those people. The products she offers are a wide range in prices and she NEVER pushes them on you. If asked she'll provide a good range of offerings. Heather is truly wonderful person, I recommend her facials highly! read more

I've been seeing Heather for my eyebrows for about six years now and it's definitely worth the price. $25 a month for that kind of care is totally fine by me. She's really careful and pays attention to exactly what you want - not the kind of place that will take off your whole brow. And she puts some nice smelling oil on afterwards to help with the pain, which isn't very bad anyway. Heather is gentle and skilled. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

Heather is the best!!!! I've been going to her for a decade and would not go anywhere else. Love her!!!

I can't say enough great things about Heather and she inspired my first-ever Yelp review!! My skin has done a complete 180 since I started seeing her three ago. Her facials are great but beyond that, she never fails to give me spot-on product recommendations that actually work and she always asks all the right questions to figure out what's going on with my skin. As if her amazing results aren't enough, she's also a great conversationalist but if you don't feel like talking, she'll totally pick up on that too. Like I said, she's terrific! I had to wait a few months to see her for the first time and I'm so glad I did. After seeing her, I refuse to go anywhere else for facials! read more

I have been searching FOREVER for Heather Johnson!!!! Why is it so hard to find a good esthetiican? Getting on her schedule was a bit challenging but so worth it. She did a really indepth consult about my skin, my history, my diet, even my family's skin history. She asked me questions no esthetician has ever asked. I have seen her twice now and my skin has never, ever looked better. She tweaked my home care routine and that has made a difference as well. The location is great. Her studio super clean and the vibe is down to earth and serious skin care. I almost hate to share my experience because I don't want her to be harder to get in to see. She is the best, ever! read more

I went to see Heather in April 2011 before my wedding. I got a facial and added microdermabrasion. I am 39 and my face has never felt smoother and more hydrated. After those amazing results, I will continue to see Heather to keep my skin in great shape. The Valmont products are amazing. I no longer have dry flakes and patchy dry skin. If you are considering a facial, please visit Heather...although you may become addicted too! read more

I've seen Heather for eyebrow waxing. My brows were in rough shape when I met her. I tend to over-tweeze and tweeze asymmetrically, and being half-Portuguese my brows quickly can become overgrown, so previous aestheticians made my brows too thin. Once I found Heather, I haven't gone to anyone else since. I often get compliments on my brows, even from other beauty professionals like hairstylists. I asked Heather to shape my brows in a way that matched my bone structure. Some growing out time was required to fill-in part of my brow, but in each early visit, she whipped my brows back into shape. Now I go to her for maintenance. I can't keep my brows as well as she does. To top it off, Heather's got a great personality and a gentle touch. She makes each visit very comfortable. She's very popular and works partial weeks, so you will have to book any appointments in advance. Still I've been able to reschedule with good results. Some day I'll have to try one of her facials! read more

Heather is the most professional, effective, and pleasant aesthetician I have ever worked with, which is why I trusted her with my skin for almost 10 years. Heather´s technique is wonderful, and she is always educating herself on the latest products, tools, etc, but is never pushy about using new things. The fundamental reason why I love her facials is knowing that she always does the best thing for my skin at that specific time. My favourite facial is the 75 minute Signature Facial with Oxygen Infusion, but regardless of type, she customises and tailors everything for the individual. As a result, my skin never looks better than when a get a facial from her. As a bonus, her studio is exceptionally relaxing and clean, which makes the experience all that much better. I have even traveled to visit her studio! When we moved briefly to the South Bay for 6 months, I kept my regular appointments with her, despite the horrible commute. And now, after moving to Switzerland a couple years ago, I still book an appointment with her every time visit the US, and can happily say that her standards have not changed at all! read more
