Magic in Motion If you've ever dreamed of stepping into a space suit that doesn't take you to the moon but instead launches your lymphatic system into a new dimension of clarity, welcome to the world of the Balancer Pro. I recently spent three sessions gently immersing myself in this high-tech, feel-good sanctuary, and let me tell you: I've emerged a lighter, spunkier, blissed-out version of myself. Each session left me floating, feeling restored, with a deep sense of calm. It even helped ease the usual post-workout soreness and sped up recovery from a nagging sports injuryies. Let's start with what it is. Imagine slipping into what looks like futuristic spa armor: one piece that hugs your body from stomach to toes like you are suiting up for a cloud soft compression cocoon, and another that wraps you up like a cozy long-sleeved tee made of clouds. They both work together to give your lymphatic system a workout without you moving a single muscle. You just lay there, and the magic unfolds. During each session, I also received red light therapy, which added another layer of cellular support and glow. It's like a double treat: while your lymph is getting love, your skin and tissues are soaking up gentle waves of rejuvenation. The results? After my first session, I was zonked, I went to bed early and slept like a log. The next morning? Energized, clear-headed, and oddly sparkly. Bloating? Gone. My stomach felt flatter. A delightful feeling of lightness, like my body was humming a quiet little thank-you song. But here's the real star of the show: Missy. Calling her a practitioner doesn't quite cover it. Missy is a beam of sunshine in human form. She's warm, intuitive, and genuinely tuned in. She listens. She observes. She tailors every session to make you feel cared for, seen, and completely at ease. You're not just a client to her, you're a person with a body, a soul, and a story. And she honors all of it. She's not just helping people detox physically, she's helping them feel better in their skin, in their lives, in their energy. And that kind of gift? It's rare. It's radiant. So yes, I hope everyone gets to try this. I hope your body gets to feel this kind of refresh. I hope Missy is the one to guide you through this. Missy is a true healer and a walking hug. Give your lymph some love, you won't regret it. read more

Looking for a new facialist? Go to Missy. Already have one? Switch. Even if you aren't in the market, you still need to see her. I've been with Missy for over a year, and she is truly the gold standard. She treats for an N of 1, taking the time to actually listen rather than rushing the process. She's a master of her craft who leaves you feeling like a million bucks. Simply put, Missy transformed my complexion. My injector even comments on the difference. From high-paced corporate stress to the general ups and downs of life, she's saved my skin time and again. Her packages are worth every penny. There is no one else I'd trust with my skin. 11/10. read more

I met Missy for waxing services in someone else's studio in 2009. 16 years later she (and her amazing self owned studio) is my go to for: skin care, mental health, joy, make up, beauty, friendship, centering, cleansing, and wisdom. We have been through so much together! More importantly she is a highly skilled esthetician whose facials are the absolute best. The products she recommends and sells are very clean and help me lean into my mid life goddess. Our values are aligned and she's always a great listener. Soooo many of my friends now go to her and swear by her services. If I could give her 6 stars I would! MISSY IS THE BEST! read more

Missy is amazing. I was in need of some pampering and she definitely delivered. My skin is still glowing days later. She offered up lots of great and practical products to use on my skin. 5 stars!!! read more

I am a hydra facial convert. I started seeing missy for waxing, then facials - she really helped me take care of my skin in a way that was relevant to me. No crazy program or outrageous oversell. It's like that hairstylist who knows you wont actually curl your hair everyday so won't recommend that haircut you think you want but won't actually work. Missy listens to you. When missy upgraded to a hydra facial machine I was skeptical - how could it get better?! I'm not one to indulge in expensive self care. But WOW, my skin feels better than ever. And no Botox. Plus you just feel amazing after. It's bliss followed by a glow. It's money well spent and that's coming from a frugal person :-) read more

I've been going to Missy for all my skincare needs since 2016 and since moving, I now drive 30 minutes to receive a variety of services her studio offers. Her studio is calming, peaceful, and feels like a pause from the business of life every time I visit. I received a Hydrafacial yesterday and my skin is glowing and hydrated. My skin genuinely looked years younger through hydration, the products she uses, and her amazing techniques. Aside from the amazing services she provides, I am provided with opportunities to learn about my skin in ways I have never experienced before. She genuinely is concerned about my skin/ face wellness and I always leave feeling empowered and rejuvenated. There is never pressure to purchase products however all of her products are reasonably priced and she has hand selected all of them with clean ingredients, no alcohol, and gentle properties. On a personal level, she is kind, inclusive, and cares for her clients. Missy is the greatest. read more

I've been a client for nearly 10!!! years and I consider Missy to be a friend at this point. Just a few months ago she did my bridal make up for my wedding! She also did make up for my family as well, and Missy did a fantastic job. We did a test session, and when I told her I wasn't loving the way the lashes she tried felt on me, she went out of her way to special order another pair for me to use at my wedding, and let me tell you - I loved them! I got so many compliments on my makeup, and I am so so grateful to have had Missy be a part of my special day! read more

My skin looks and feels glorious and hydrated! This is a delightful experience and I was only expecting a facial

Missy is amazing at what she does. I hadn't had a facial in a long time and getting one with Missy convinced me that I needed to set aside "me time" for self care more regularly. She is professional, relatable, a joy to be around, and definitely excels at her art! I would recommend her in a heart beat! She also did my makeup and made me feel natural and beautiful at the same time! I can not recommend her enough! read more

I've been a client of Missy's even prior to the opening of her own studio. A visit to Missy's studio provides spirit therapy in addition to the services rendered. Her space is so peaceful, and her hands have a healing touch. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else! read more

Gotta thank Yelp for helping me find Missy. I totally get why her ratings are as high as they are. I came in for an eyebrow cleanup. My skin is very sensitive so I prefer plucking over other shaping methods. I left with awesome looking brows and will def be back. read more

Just had my first facial with Missy...it was perfect! Don't be put off by the funky building (vintage Oakland!) Missy knows her stuff. She's super thorough and she LISTENED! She used products appropriate for my dry, sensitive skin. Her technique was great but even better, her energy was just lovely. My skin is prone to redness but her products and facial technique left me dewy and glowing. I walked out looking and feeling great. read more

As I have matured, my skin went from oily/combination skin in my 20's and 30's to dry skin in my 40's. This was my main concern when I started getting my facials from Missy. She has taught me which facial cleanser to use for the dryness and what I need to use to hydrate my skin. Every after appointment with her Signature Feel Good Facial, my skin always feels so good and refreshed! If you're having any problem or concern with your skin, she's definitely the person to talk to. read more

I'm usually a no-make-up girl but for my SF wedding my sister insisted on getting things done the right way. So she introduced me to the vivacious and wonderful Missy Moran. I was initially intimidated by all the little tools in her huge arsenal but Missy made me comfortable right away. It was my first time to experience air-brushed make-up and I was amazed by the results. My skin looked flawless! Missy made everything a fun, painless experience, and I loved everything about my look that day. If you have a big event coming up and you're not sure about getting a professional, consider calling Missy for a consult and I know she'll put you right at ease. She'll walk you through the process and she'll probably make you feel fabulous on your special day! read more

Missy is a beauty guru, inside and out. She's knowledgeable, intuitive and genuine. I have worked with her professionally (she did the bridal make-up for my wedding client) and personally - she saved my skin! After waking up disheartened by months of frustrating Rosacea on my nose, and several failed appointments with Kaiser, I decided I needed professional help from an aesthetician. She squeezed me in the same day & made me feel SO comfortable, provided great insight, and a calming environment and treatment. My face and spirt are so thankful! read more

This is a very long overdue review for one of my favorite places in Oakland. I can't say enough good things about Missy. She's simply the best! Her services are amazing and her energy is even better. Waxing, facials, makeup - she does it all to perfection. Thanks, Missy. read more

I have had many services over the years from Missy, from facials, to waxing and makeup. She is truly amazing at what she does. It's so hard to find someone that listens to what you want and what you are looking for and achieve that and you will find that with Missy. Every time I leave, I alway feel beautiful. She has a personal touch in everything she does. She really cares for her art and you can see and feel it in her work. I would recommend Missy for all your beauty needs. She is fantastic and will make you feel amazing as well. read more

Been working with Missy for years now and it's time to share, although I want to keep her all to myself! Missy is trustworthy beyond measure and our sessions continue to get better. She has really helped me create my care ritual with her open approach to skin care. A great guide through the often intense world of the beauty industry, Missy works to empower me to find what works for my body. Self care is easy in her capable hands. From pampering facials to smooth wax jobs, she does it with grace. If you're looking to put yourself in good hands, look no further! read more

I absolutely adore Missy. I've been going to her for years (even before she opened her own little spot) for various iterations of bikini waxing. Before finding Missy I went to dozens of other people/places for waxing and it was always less than perfect: wax too hot, stray hairs left, took forever, etc. Missy just gets it right every time, plus adds this infectious personality and makes you enjoy...that's right I said ENJOY...getting your ladybits waxed. Missy's pricing is very reasonable, and I find her hours to be especially helpful. She works well into the evening so you can schedule after work appointments. And multiple times she's let me know if someone ahead of me canceled, so if I wanted to come earlier I was welcome to do so. This personal touch and flexibility is just one of the many reasons I keep coming back. This past Fall I tried out a new service of Missy's - wedding day makeup. I was 8 months pregnant at the time and just doing a small courthouse wedding so I did not intend to do anything fancy. During a wax session I shared this with Missy and she encouraged me to come in for makeup. I'm so happy I did! When you're 8 months pregnant, you need to have some moments where you feel beautiful. My makeup was flawless, and stayed that way throughout the ceremony and dinner afterward with family. I loved how I looked in all my photos and just felt overall very confident (despite being pregnant in a wedding dress). Now that the stress of new parenthood is dying down I'm looking forward to trying out more of Missy's services, especially facials. It's hard to find an esthetician who is talented, professional, AND has a killer personality and Missy just nails all of it. read more

I can't say enough good things about Missy and her level of expertise and professionalism of all things skin. She's been my gal for the past three years, and I have been following around her around like a puppy dog after first meeting her at Skin and Tonic on Grand Ave. My skin always feels fresh and baby-soft after a facial or a waxing. Recently, I had her to do my make-up for a photo shoot and I felt so pretty! Nothing over the top, just the best version of myself. AND her new space in Oakland is just a little bit of heaven. It's a little further down on Grand, so parking is not a problem. It's located right above this funky vintage beauty salon. Very zen-like. Missy will chat you up like an old friend, but give you space and quiet if you need it. You always leave feeling fabulous! read more

Missy is THE BEST. Hands down. End of story. I've been seeing her for about 2 years (maybe longer?!) and I would never trust my skin to anyone else. Waxing is waxing, but Missy's technique is about as pain free as it gets. Her incredible skills with brow design have opened up my face in a whole new way, and I've never had any adverse skin reactions with her work. In fact, my skin is so luminous and radiant after every facial that I almost always get a compliment from strangers. No joke, she rocks my world. She'll rock yours too. All hail the queen!!! read more

I love Missy and wanted to take a moment to highlight her makeup skills! I have been purchasing Glo mineral makeup from her for years. I constantly get complimented on my skin. I highly recommend this makeup because it is clean and your skin will not break out from it. My favorite blush on the planet is Glo- color " Sweet". It's just the right amount of color and it has a slight golden undertone . At the end of the day, I still look fresh and "glo" ;) Missy does weddings, Makeup lessons and makeup for any occasion. Missy is the queen of skincare and I HIGHLY recommend her services. Missy has educated me about my skin, helped me feel confident about my skin as I move into my mid-30's, and she keeps my skin looking it's very best! I first started coming to Missy a couple of years ago for my eyebrows. She immediately knew what to do to give my brows the best shape for my face. About a year ago, I started to really notice some sun damage on my face. I grew up by the beach in Southern California and I spent my teens and early 20's being way too tan and spending way too much time in the sun. Last year the effects of all this sunshine were really taking over my skin- I noticed melasma on my forehead, as well as various sunspots on my cheeks and fine lines getting worse. I had never gotten a facial before, because I did not understand the value. I really did not know how to take care of my skin at all. I emailed Missy (who at that time I was only seeing for brows) and explained my concerns about my skin, specifically the brown spots and melasma. Missy booked a facial appointment for me and sprung into action. I have been seeing Missy now for semi-regular facials, as well as for education around my skin and how to take care of it. Over time, she has recommended many skin care products that have drastically improved the way my skin looks. The melasma on my face has almost disappeared and the other problem areas look SO much better. She has taught me to wear sunscreen on my face every day (and which kind!), the benefits of Vitamin C oil, which face exfoliant is the best, and how to apply natural looking face makeup. She recently did my makeup for a photoshoot with my fiancé and I felt so beautiful. Overall, Missy has helped boost my confidence and feel educated about how to best take care of my skin moving forward. She is the best and I am so grateful that I found her! If you are on the fence about coming in for a facial or any other service with Missy, just do it! She will meet you where you are at and help you feel AMAZING! read more

Missy is the most talented, expert skin care professional, hands down. She is absolutely amazing!!! She not only brings out all your beauty on the outside but she is such a radiant woman that she brings out your inner glow too. I have used many of Missy's services. To start with the most personal and truly heart felt; Missy did my bridal wedding makeup. Several months before the big day, I went in for a trial run, cannot recommend enough. I am an older bride who has never been comfortable wearing a lot of makeup and I was nervous about it. I had my makeup done professionally before and the foundation caked in my wrinkles and made me look 10 years older and the black around my eyes made them look strung out. These were not the looks I was going for. We discussed my thoughts and I showed pictures of a natural but well made up look. She nailed it. I went out with my friends to test the look out and get peoples' input, then I told her what I really liked and did not or ideas I might have had. It was invaluable. I should also mention that most of my wedding was DIY, even my hair was done by friend and I did the centerpieces. However, I felt, and it was confirmed, that makeup (and photography) is not something you should skimp on, it is one of the most important aspects of your day. I have seen brides over made up or just look off and it is a bad time to experiment. On that day, treat yo self!!! It is the advice I would give to every bride. You will reflect on your wedding and thank yourself over and over. A couple days before my wedding, I went into her studio and got a delicious facial, plumped up my skin and gave it a good glow to get me ready for the big day. Then, my wedding day arrived. It was overwhelming with things to do and family and friends. Two hundred people came into town to celebrate as both groom and I have very large families and many friends. I was doing most of the wedding things and that could have taken me down a dark path if I let it. Also, my family is especially dramatic and just spending the week before the wedding with them in my house was unnerving to put it mildly. Even more stressful was my maid of honor had twin toddlers and was so busy chasing them around that nobody was there to organize the other bridesmaids or handle any of the duties usually taken on by the MOH, but in walks Missy, the heroine of this tale. Missy came to my hotel room about three hours before the wedding to find me alone and anxious. She instantly filled the room with so much lightness and happiness; it was impossible to hold on to my stress and anxiety. She had me laughing and just built me up to feel like the most beautiful and gracious woman in the world. It was my day to shine and there I was, a budding beacon rather than a bridezilla of stress and disappointment. She really took over the job of MOH, organizing things, keeping me blissed out and sending drama away. And when she finished, oh my sweet lord, I have never looked more gorgeous or shined brighter. In fact, almost everyone complimented my makeup, I was absolutely perfect. Missy used the airbrush makeup that evened my skin tone while being so light it didn't even feel like I was wearing makeup, I just felt beautiful, inside and out. I cannot even thank her or recommend her enough. I have also used other services of Missy: Highly recommend!!! Facials: I am a firm believer that good moisturizer and regular facial will erase years off your face. Missy proves this theory. Her facials are so divinity reincarnated into something more luscious. She uses top end natural products and pampers you completely. When you finish your skin looks years younger, completely pore less and plump. I notice a big reduction in wrinkles too. I walk out feeling like I drank from and bathed in the fountain of youth. I also feel so calm and relaxed because an afternoon talking to and being pampered by Missy is incredibly soothing and elevating. It's completely divine. She has also become my go to waxer. I used to use the big wax chains and thought it was adequate if you find a girl that doesn't rip off your skin or leave you with a rash. I thought it better to save a couple dollars while my skin took a couple days to recover. With Missy it was completely different. The office is relaxing and pleasant and the waxing was way less painful and left my skin smooth and soft. Missy is wonderful. I have used many estheticians in my life but nobody that has such natural talent making people look and feel beautiful. She is the best! read more

Missy is an amazing make up artist! Recently, she had done my make up for a vintage photo shoot and needed no direction with creating my perfect, natural look to match with my costume. Missy did my makeup for a vintage-inspired pinup shoot - it looked amazing and she was so easy to work with! I moved to the Bay Area about 5 years ago and after tirelessly searching for a competent esthetician I found an extraordinary one! As a professional model, I have experienced many MUAs. Scheduling with Missy was easy and straight forward. I had no issues with her contract as I am a very detailed & organized person as well. She arrived on time however the makeup she had was not full photoshoot coverage and she seemed like she was bothered to do her job. We hired her to do myself and another model, multiple looks, including light hair styling, and this was for the full shoot. Instead of focusing on changing up our looks and making sure that we didn't have a hair out of place etc, she actuaher to anyone that wants to actually look fantastic or professional. This may be why she is now in another city, we booked her in Las Vegas. Perhaps she would be better suited for someone thally said to me "Who cares if the hair in the back of your head is done, no one will see it" I was in complete shock! Yes, all angles matter when shooting a professional shoot. She seemed very distracted by the crew and tried to attain more business through my photog. She really should have focused more on her job that day and not being so lazy. I would NEVER recommend t never gets their makeup done or someone that has no clue what they're doing, but I wish I would have done my makeup myself. Terrible experience and added a lot of stress to the shoot. read more
