I absolutely adore Missy. I've been going to her for years (even before she opened her own little spot) for various iterations of bikini waxing. This personal touch and flexibility is just one of the many reasons I keep coming back. This past Fall I tried out a new service of Missy's - wedding day makeup. I was 8 months pregnant at the time and just doing a small courthouse wedding so I did not intend to do anything fancy. During a wax session I shared this with Missy and she encouraged me to come in for makeup. I'm so happy I did! When you're 8 months pregnant, you need to have some moments where you feel beautiful. My makeup was flawless, and stayed that way throughout the ceremony and dinner afterward with family. Missy has educated me about my skin, helped me feel confident about my skin as I move into my mid-30's, and she keeps my skin looking it's very best! I first started coming to Missy a couple of years ago for my eyebrows. She immediately knew what to do to give my brows the best shape for my face. About a year ago, I started to really notice some sun damage on my face. I grew up by the beach in Southern California and I spent my teens and early 20's being way too tan and spending way too much time in the sun. Last year the effects of all this sunshine were really taking over my skin- I noticed melasma on my forehead, as well as various sunspots on my cheeks and fine lines getting worse. I had never gotten a facial before, because I did not understand the value. I really did not know how to take care of my skin at all. I emailed Missy (who at that time I was only seeing for brows) and explained my concerns about my skin, specifically the brown spots and melasma. Missy booked a facial appointment for me and sprung into action. I have been seeing Missy now for semi-regular facials, as well as for education around my skin and how to take care of it. Over time, she has recommended many skin care products that have drastically improved the way my skin looks. The melasma on my face has almost disappeared and the other problem areas look SO much better. She has taught me to wear sunscreen on my face every day (and which kind!), the benefits of Vitamin C oil, which face exfoliant is the best, and how to apply natural looking face makeup. To start with the most personal and truly heart felt; Missy did my bridal wedding makeup. Several months before the big day, I went in for a trial run, cannot recommend enough. I am an older bride who has never been comfortable wearing a lot of makeup and I was nervous about it. I had my makeup done professionally before and the foundation caked in my wrinkles and made me look 10 years older and the black around my eyes made them look strung out. These were not the looks I was going for. We discussed my thoughts and I showed pictures of a natural but well made up look. She nailed it. I went out with my friends to test the look out and get peoples' input, then I told her what I really liked and did not or ideas I might have had. It was invaluable. I should also mention that most of my wedding was DIY, even my hair was done by friend and I did the centerpieces. However, I felt, and it was confirmed, that makeup (and photography) is not something you should skimp on, it is one of the most important aspects of your day. I have seen brides over made up or just look off and it is a bad time to experiment. On that day, treat yo self!!! It is the advice I would give to every bride. You will reflect on your wedding and thank yourself over and over. A couple days before my wedding, I went into her studio and got a delicious facial, plumped up my skin and gave it a good glow to get me ready for the big day. Then, my wedding day arrived. It was overwhelming with things to do and family and friends. Two hundred people came into town to celebrate as both groom and I have very large families and many friends. I was doing most of the wedding things and that could have taken me down a dark path if I let it. Also, my family is especially dramatic and just spending the week before the wedding with them in my house was unnerving to put it mildly. Even more stressful was my maid of honor had twin toddlers and was so busy chasing them around that nobody was there to organize the other bridesmaids or handle any of the duties usually taken on by the MOH, but in walks Missy, the heroine of this tale. Missy came to my hotel room about three hours before the wedding to find me alone and anxious. She instantly filled the room with so much lightness and happiness; it was impossible to hold on to my stress and anxiety. She had me laughing and just built me up to feel like the most beautiful and gracious woman in the world. It was my day to shine and there I was, a budding beacon rather than a bridezilla of stress and disappointment. She really took over the job of MOH, organizing things, keeping me blissed out and sending drama away. And when she finished, oh my sweet lord, I have never looked more gorgeous or shined brighter. In fact, almost everyone complimented my makeup, I was absolutely perfect. Missy used the airbrush makeup that evened my skin tone while being so light it didn't even feel like I was wearing makeup, I just felt beautiful, inside and out. Facials: I am a firm believer that good moisturizer and regular facial will erase years off your face. Missy proves this theory. Her facials are so divinity reincarnated into something more luscious. I walk out feeling like I drank from and bathed in the fountain of youth. As a professional model, I have experienced many MUAs. Scheduling with Missy was easy and straight forward. I had no issues with her contract as I am a very detailed & organized person as well. She arrived on time however the makeup she had was not full photoshoot coverage and she seemed like she was bothered to do her job. We hired her to do myself and another model, multiple looks, including light hair styling, and this was for the full shoot. Instead of focusing on changing up our looks and making sure that we didn't have a hair out of place etc, she actuaher to anyone that wants to actually look fantastic or professional. This may be why she is now in another city, we booked her in Las Vegas. Perhaps she would be better suited for someone thally said to me "Who cares if the hair in the back of your head is done, no one will see it" I was in complete shock! Yes, all angles matter when shooting a professional shoot. She seemed very distracted by the crew and tried to attain more business through my photog. She really should have focused more on her job that day and not being so lazy. I would NEVER recommend t never gets their makeup done or someone that has no clue what they're doing, but I wish I would have done my makeup myself.
