I wish there were more stars to give Nubo! From their lovely front desk staff, to their great seasonal specials, you always get a good vibe and deal. Shiva, the Harry Potter of aestheticians, a true wizard, and the genius of her expertise astounds me. I never walk away feeling over done, or not looking like myself, rather a more refreshed, best version. When friends ask if I'm using new skin care products, rather than, "what work have you had done?" you know you're in great hands. I trust NO ONE ELSE with my face other than Queen Shiva. I bow at her altar. While some reviews do point out that their prices are a bit higher - which is true - they are not the cheapest, but they are also not the most expensive: you pay for what you get! Their prices are comparable to places I've gone before in Walnut Creek who were voted "Best Of", and WAY better. Night and day. There are some things in life that you should never skimp on, or go to the cheapest person for, a lawyer (when/if you need one) and a plastic surgeon/injectables. You are paying for someone who has years of experience, and it shows! Shiva has a deep understanding of anatomy, and her meticulousness during each session is something I haven't experienced before, save for my derm/M.D. in LA. I've scheduled an appointment here twice a few months apart and both times they cancelled on me within a couple of days of the appointment.

The facial with neck add-on, which I had been told would take and hour and 10 minutes or so, lasted a brief 40 minutes, and the esthetician (Frozan) seemed ill-trained (squirted product in my eye , did not react when I told her my skin was stinging--just handed me a fan). I told her my lips had been sunburned and asked her to be super careful, but when in the middle of the brief treatment, I said the cream she had put on my lips had been washed away by the squirting, she did not stop to add more protective cream until I asked twice more. She kept saying how amazing I looked and how I should have people over or go dancing--it was too much of a pep talk and too little soothing facial. Maybe I should be glad it was only 40 minutes! I should add that scheduling was so complicated, and they cancelled my appointment several times. There is also a weird texting system and reminders about appointments THEY had canceled accompanied by warnings of a $250 fee for cancellations!?! Obviously, I'm going elsewhere next time. read more

It was pretty easy to get on their schedule. I got a chem peel, and I peeled wonderfully! I saw Farzan, and she was really lovely & and It was a quick process. Day 3 of peel I actually burned on the side of the lips... and I never received response. But luckily, I know someone in the field and was a le to get a response right away. My only complaint would be the reception portion. It's beyond bizarre. I scheduled one appointment, and have yet to go back primarily because I keep getting "notifications" about my scheduled appointments. To this day, I've only scheduled one. I've randomly received email confirmations about payments going through, and changes of appointments that have nothing to do with me. So weird! Initially I notified them, and I thought it was corrected, but since, I've received 3 additional ones. hopefully I don't get charged. And hopefully the person it's supposed to go to actually gets reminded. read more

Absolute disaster of a Dysport treatment. Went in for 11's and forehead wrinkles, then got talked in to "a little on my chin" for wrinkling. Within 3 days my forehead started sinking down my face, pushing my eyelids partially over my eye and feeling very heavy. Also now can't move my lower lip very well so smile is crazy wonky. It's been a few weeks now but I still resemble Sam Eagle. They were responsive and kind in trying to add a bit more to counter the effects last week but it didn't help at all. Damage was done. I've had this treatment many times before (elsewhere) and never had this happen. I feel duped and ripped off, this stuff is expensive! read more

Had an IPL facial by heather and my three week results are amazing! Heather explained everything each step of the way, within an hour we were all done. Freckles and redness have significantly lessened. I feel like my skin is glowing. Very happy with my results and would definitely do another round of IPL. I saw Shiva for several years and her services have always been incredible, warm, supportive. I am leaving this negative review for two reasons. First, I began receiving constant emails, texts, and solicitations from a former employee of Nubo who left the business and started their own. I never consented to have my contact information shared in this way, and had to ask *repeatedly* across platforms for them to stop texting/emailing/soliciting me. This incident made me very uncomfortable. Second, I made an appointment online for an appointment with Shiva for Thursday this week. I received a text from the business (the person didn't identify themselves) saying that Shiva worked Thursdays and Fridays. Which of course would be fine...the appointment I made was for a Thursday. After some very confusing back and forth where the mystery person kept telling me she worked on different days (photos attached) they cancelled my appointment and told me to make another. I did. They cancelled it. They rescheduled me for some random date and time I didn't pick in the future. I asked them to remove me from the schedule. I received an email for another random date. When I called today in frustration to ask to be removed from their system entirely, the person didn't respond to my complaint about the back and forth or the fact that I'd been scheduled for a day/time I never consented to schedule and didn't ask to schedule. She was like "ok you're off the schedule". Okay! That's fine. But I also haven't had a cancellation confirmation so part of me is bracing to either be rescheduled or charged for the appointment when I don't know up. Who knows! Anyway, it's not that deep. Shiva is fantastic! But the prices here are higher than most places in the East Bay and a) the unprofessional way the business handles client information and b) the hassle with scheduling and deeply unprofessional behavior of the front desk lost my trust and business. read more

Just a FYI this place is extremely higher priced than most competitors in the Bay Area which is why they took their pricing down on the website. Hydrafcial cost should not vary based on skin concern there are only two options for a hydrafacial so the cost should be one or the other. I highly recommend finding a medspa that is more transparent in its pricing structure. Also as a similar review stated I too experienced severe bumps after getting extractions from a recent visit which made me extremely disappointed because I got a facial a week before my birthday and the bumps were still there. I've never had that from a facial before so that was very unfortunate. Lastly, their text service is very weird with their communication and can get an attitude quickly. read more

I am STRONGLY against this business for poor practices on all levels. Here's my experience: I received a Brightening Facial on March 16th, which is described as "Gently and safely addresses dark spots, discoloration, and uneven skin tone." At the start of the facial, Frozan (the facialist) said that the Brightening Facial is the same as other facials, just without the facial machine. I reminded Frozan that I have sensitive skin with eczema. Frozan asked if I had any outbreaks or if I was using any retinol products, which I was not. She then proceeded with the Brightening Facial. I experienced burning sensations that Frozan insisted was normal, and she even handed me a fan to use on my face to subdue the burning. After the facial, I clearly had burned spots that were bleeding. Frozan did not mention anything about the results of my face. I sent a complaint to Nubo Spa and they asked me to come in to take photos (to send to management for review). Frozan, who took my photo, did not apologize for what happened. The managers texted me and said they would give me a full refund, which I have not received. It has been almost 3 months since. Now that my skin has completely healed, you'll see blemishes as a result of the skin damage caused from the Brightening Facial. I've shared these photos with several folx, including those who've received facials for many years, and they unanimously agreed that this is NOT an appropriate result of receiving a facial and that my treatment was inconsiderate and unfair. I'm sharing my experience with the hope that this doesn't happen again to anyone at Nubo Spa. If you haven't been here before, just go somewhere else that's vetted by a trusted confidant. read more

I had an amazing time today at Nobu Spa. It was my Second visit, I drive 2 hours because Shiva comes very highly recommended and does not disappoint. I feel very well taken care off at Nobu Spa. Almost two weeks ago, I went to Nubo Spa for a Hydrafacial. Based on this experience, I don't recommend this place: 1) they don't really care about your skin: - they seem much more interested in avoiding any responsibility than in doing a good job: they ask you to sign a lot of forms to remove liability for any mistake they make. I felt I was going through a legal procedure rather than a facial. You have to sign that you were informed about all the risks you can get from the procedure even before they actually see your skin. The impact of treatment depends on the type and needs of your skin. Giving generic information on a website and demanding to sign a disclaimer is not professional. - the facial was not accurate. I felt the aesthetician was in a rush (we started later than scheduled but finished on time) and wasn't interested in explaining what she was doing. No information about my skin was given to me. I told her my skin is sensitive and she didn't warn me that I would need a stronger sunscreen than the 30 protection mentioned on the website: after the facial, I got many more spots than I had before. 2) I didn't like the (rude) attitude of the people who work there. A facial should be a relaxing experience for a client but for me, it was the opposite. Not to mention that the aesthetician sniffled during the entire treatment. Overall my skin is worse after the Hydrafacial at Nubo Spa: super sensitive with extensive redness and intense dryness, more spots, wrinkles, and a burning sensation. Not at all what I expected. I recently took my son to seek professional advice for his severe acne. He had several HydraFacials with Frozān and was put on the correct skincare to treat his acne. Once his skin started to clear up he did a series of micro-needling with RN Elle. WOW! Amazing results. Truly better than expected and I am particular. I saw Elle for some Botox and filler. After all, I was there with my son :) Elle is an extremely talented and kind professional. I look very natural and not over done. I have received lots of compliments from friends and I find myself looking in the mirror more. It is important to look your best! Elle certainly knows what she is doing. I tried to schedule a service but was told I'd have to pay $150 for a consultation but that I could later apply it towards a service. I did my consult with Jen who basically gave me a bunch of incorrect information. She talked to their actual esthetician and later called me back to clarify that the services she recommended were actually not suitable for me and recommended different services. I am unclear why the person doing consults doesn't actually understand skincare or their services? She also tried to pressure me to get a hydrafacial and other services I had no interest in. I ended up scheduling a regular facial just to make use of my $150 credit. Yet again they tried to upsell me on a hydrafacial so that must be their hot ticket item?? The day of the facial, I arrived to a completely EMPTY spa which was odd on a Saturday afternoon. It was just me and the woman doing my facial. Anyway I her that I have only ever had one facial before, but she didn't explain anything and kept getting up and leaving the room. My skin looked nice at the end but do I think it was worth $160? No. At checkout, the woman accidentally charged my credit card for the full amount even though I had the $150 credit. They didn't reverse it until after I reminded them the next day.
