I had my first facial with Laura and it was AMAZING! After years of trying to find that elusive studio who can deal with my decades worth of accumulated oils on my nose (not blackheads) that look like little black dots, Laura tackled the problem head on and my nose looks considerably less spotted than before. It helps that she has this device that's supposed to suck/scrape the gunk out but not using the typical extraction tool for the process. Before starting, she asks a few simple q's such as hydration, alcohol, exercise, current beauty routine and products used. Then she did the whole face mapping thing to determine sun damage, hydration, and pigmentation issues. From there on, it was on the actual facial. The scrub, cleanser, mask, and serums used all smelled wonderfully medicinal yet light enough to not be too annoying to the senses. I felt light tingling to let me know that the products applied were working but not tingling to the point of being unbearable. I have the usual oily t zone but going through a rough patch with a random bout of acne. After all the moisturizer and sunblock were applied, my face felt moisturized but not greasy or shiny or red (bonus points!). And it remained so for the rest of the day. A light massage around the neck, shoulders, and arms were also applied. Laura was thorough and I definitely felt the session was tailored to fit what my skin needed. She gave me some simple tips to incorporate and I'm glad to have found a new place for regular skincare maintenance. I loved every second of it! Laura is super nice and grounded and gives off amazingly calming vibes so I was immediately put at ease. It was my first facial and I don't usually know what to do with my skin. She gave me a great consultation and looked at my skin through a fancy black light to check moisture and whatever issues I might have. Than she gave me a fantastic many part treatment ( I'm not sure how many steps or products she used) but it was all natural and gentle as my skin is sensitive. I came out polished, hydrated, relaxed and my skin was firmer and plumper still next day! Wow just had a "Vitality C" facial here. Pretty blown away. Laura was really warm and welcoming and while the mask was on, gave me a wonderful arm and hand massage. I got wind of the Freddy Fox Skincare opening special and signed up to try out a facial. When I arrived I discovered I was the very first customer ever! You will find Freddy Fox in the 'Balance Wellness Center' (up the stairs and to the right of the cycle shop). Because I am a stranger to facials, I didn't want anything drastic like a peel so I decided as a beginner to choose "The Luxurious Fox" from the extensive menu of services on offer. It is billed as a European Style facial. I found the treatments to be lovely and relaxing, Laura had a super gentle touch and all the smells were so good, I almost wanted to eat them. I usually don't pay much attention to my skin, but I was totally amazed by the different way my skin felt after the treatment. I love a good facial and Laura is the best. She has great hands and uses some wonderful products. The combination feels so good that you don't want the facial to end. I have done two facials with her: a basic general facial and then a peel. Both were great. The second had a more pronounced effect (small discomfort during the peel part). I left feeling refreshed and my face had that "glowy" feel. The peel was almost two weeks ago and I feel my skin tone is still benefitting with smaller pores, and greater clarity. I just love Laura! I was completely new to facials and she took me through the different kinds, the different products and offered a system where we would work up to a more deeper cleanse. She has a warm and inviting setting with relaxing music in the background and a convenient location on Grand Avenue in Oakland which is centered by many cafes and boutiques.
