Recently Lam cut five inches off my very long hair. I am happy to report that while the drastic change took me a few days to get used to, I am very happy with my new do. I asked Lam for more movement in my hair and he gave me that and more. While I had one non-negotiable (no layers shorter than chin length) I mostly let Lam get creative and I'm really glad I did. do not go to la tour for lashes. not only did i get a totally wrong style that made my eyes look droopy, she used way too much glue, glued them too close to my eye (!!), and then actually pulled some out taking my natural lashes with--the biggest no no in the lash kingdom!! i was left with very swollen eyes and it hurts each time i blink- like little pieces of glass between my eyelids. the manager was a jerk who just kept interrupting me over and over and not listening when i tried to explain. the worst experience i have ever had at any salon ever. read more

My hair experience with Nick: In November, I decided to go to the salon to touch up my hair since my bleached part (that was blonde) was starting to look bad with my grown out hair (that is black), so I wanted to get both colors to match (lighten up my black hair and darken my blonde part, anything in that nature). Nick told me it would be around 240 (not including tip), and I agreed, since it would be a big step to bleach my hair and it was worth doing it considering how delicate the process is. He was very nice and we had a great conversation, but things started going south when I had realized that the toner he put in my hair after bleaching it only picked up in one area. I thought I was missing something because this is a fundamental mistake that hair colorists shouldn't make? Essentially what happened was this: Nick lightened my black hair to be a medium blonde color (which looked fine in my opinion), and so now my hair was half medium blonde, half light blonde. Nick used ONE toner to cover my entire hair which made my lighter blonde hair a platinum white/blueish color, and then normally toned the yellows out of my medium blonde hair. When he was drying my hair and styling it, I had warning signals going off in my head... I was looking at it, and saw that half of my head now was a warm blonde color, and the other half was a platinum essentially BLUE WHITE color, which looked really odd. Don't get me wrong, I actually liked the colors, but not together???? If my entire head of hair was either consistently cool tones or warm tones, I would not have bat an eye!! However, pairing a warm blonde with a blueish platinum?? It looked horrible!!! He kept insisting that It would look better after I dry my hair, that It's just not styled yet, etc etc.... But even after he finished blow drying, I was so confused... I felt like he was ignoring something so apparent in front of him. It obviously didn't look right. So, I got him to retone my hair (me giving HIM advice) and said that he could tone it a darker grey to at least get the whole hair look cohesive, since I didn't like how half was cool and the other half was warm. I really couldn't think of any other solution and he was being stubborn and not really giving me advice either, so I was left with no choice but to darken my hair and ruin it in the future. I walked out with a dark grey part on top and a medium gray part on bottom, something so far away from what I wanted... because that happened, I did not really have a chance to go blonde anymore without completely killing my hair, so I eventually ended up cutting it into a bob and idk if i'll ever be able to go back and do that again. Paying 300 dollars for that bullshit... idk. Im sure Nick is a good guy and good at other services, but maybe stay away from him if you want to do color related things/color correction. read more

This is a covid 19 review for La Tour Salon - I was able to meet up with Nick for a very safe haircut. They are able to do haircuts in their back parking lot right now and we both wore masks and Nick wore gloves too. All very covid safe and I was so happy with my haircut! I really needed it! I went here to get eyelash extensions. It was $80. I am not new to getting lashes extensions and get them pretty frequently. I decided to try this place out as they were having a promotion. One thing I immediately knew that was off was the woman doing my eyelashes took only 1 hour and 30 minutes when it usually takes 2 hours on average. She put a significant amount of glue and just applied eyelashes. It was not individually placed. So when my lashes were coming off, it was taking out clumps of my real eyelashes. I will definitely not be coming back here, and do not recommend getting lashes done here if you want to keep your real lashes!! read more

Read this review! This is for the eyelash extension service only... I have not tried their other salon services. Originally, I was not going to write a review because I do not want to damper business or cost someone their job, however, when I started experiencing physical pain from eyelash extensions, I felt the need to warn others. I purchased a Groupon, for a classic full set for $99 (orig.$225). Let me just say: if I paid 225 for what I got, I would be 500x as pissed... and people do pay this price for what I got!! During the session, I was being poked and pinched by the technician's tools. My lashes were being pulled and my eyelids were being seriously hurt. I knew that was a red flag, but whatever at that point. When she finished in 45 minutes, I was SHOCKED. Usually a full set takes 1.5-2hours. Also: you should NEVER FEEL PAIN while getting extensions. You shouldn't even feel anything. I've only just been able to hear the tools clinking against one another. Never felt pain or anything for that matter in the past. Why did she only take 45 mins??? Because she grouped three of my lashes together and put two extensions on them. NOT OKAY!!! Everyone knows you ALWAYS do one to one!!! Also, she placed the lashes so close to my eyelid, that I couldn't shut my eyes without being severely poked. Dude. Not okay. Also wayyyy too much glue used. I've spent this whole week pulling my eyelashes out and pulling three of my natural eyelashes for one falsie because my eyelids were swollen and I couldn't handle the pain. Terrible experience. Photo attached is an eyelash I had to pull out because when I blinked it hurt so badly. Note the amount of glue, how many natural lashes there are. Ugh. So annoyed. Nick at the hair salon who did an excellent job with a razor long bob cut. Will be going back to him. This post is not about him or La Tour the salon. It is about the eye lash service upstairs. However 0 stars for the lash technician (don't have her name) who did a horrid job and I now have eye irritation and pink eye due to her unsafe and unsanitary lash application techniques and process. UNSAFE: She glued the lashes to my EYELIDS instead of leaving some slack on the lash and applying individually. Also the lashes are not high quality they are thick plastic lashes that poke me in the eye. It literally now hurts to blink and I will have to go see an eye doctor to prevent it from getting worse. My eyelids are all pink and sore and I have never had this problem elsewhere as I get my lashes done every month in SF. Photo of the glue on my eyelids and swollen lids attached. Crusty glue everywhere. UNSANITARY: She walked into our appointment and was going to start without even washing her hands until I asked her to. Then midway through she got a phone call and actually stopped midpoint with everything out and me laying there with my eyes taped down and vulnerable on the table and proceeded to answer it! Then to my horror she went from touching her unclean cell phone (which has been shown to be the dirtiest time we own worse than a public toilet seat according to 20/20) back directly to touching my eyes and eyelids again without washing her hands in between!! I was mortified but didn't want to distract or fluster her even more since there were very sharp objects next to my eyeballs. UNPROFESSIONAL: When I voiced my concerns that my eyelids were hurting during the session she snapped at me "stop being so serious" and kept plugging away roughly and wasn't being careful at all. When she was done I had the special 50% off promotion being offered on La Tour's website but she would not honor it and after I pointed out it was on the website and that's why I went to try she jacked up the price to triple what she quoted the first time and said "ok it's 50% off that price then" I caved and paid her the asking price and couldn't use the coupon that La Tour posted to avoid confrontation. read more

I asked for a trim with some long layers and for natural lowlights to darken my ends to match the natural color of my roots while keeping some level of dimension. I've been wanting to go blonde for a long time but I was never completely confident about it until I saw the pictures at La Tour and Nalitha's work. I booked an appointment not too long after and was super excited. She has a separate page online where you make a profile and pick a day and a time. A few days before my appointment I got a text and an email saying my appointment time had been moved to an hour later. I was a bit perplexed because there was no explanation so I texted Nalitha to check in. She explained that she had a situation she had to handle and that she hoped the time still worked. It still worked for me and so I came into the Salon a few days later. I was greeted by the receptionist who asked about my appointment, told me that Nalitha was running a little late, and offered me something to drink. I wasn't in huge rush so I sat down to wait. Nalitha came over a few minutes later and then the magic began! She started by asking me some questions: If my hair was naturally black, had I ever dyed it before, what shampoo I used, what pictures did I bring that inspired my hair dreams. I came in for a balayage but we came to the conclusion that a sombre, with its dramatic colors, was more suitable for what I wanted. I've never dyed my hair before and Nalitha talked me through the entire process. She told me where she studied and traveled to learn more about hair and I felt completely safe in her hands. The session included toning and a blowout, which took about 2.5 hours overall. I can't see without my glasses, which I had to take off during the process so the big reveal at the end was when I really got to see my hair and I was IN LOVE. I was going for as blonde as I could get with my virgin, jet black hair in only 1 session and I was honestly so surprised with the great color. Towards the end, Nalitha had an emergency and had to leave but she was extremely sweet and accommodating about it all and promised to call to check in to make sure that I knew how to take care of my hair and what products I needed. Overall, I'm completely in love and will definitely come back. For my first hair dying experience, I'm blown away and cannot be happier. Thanks Nalitha! I hit a 1/3 life crisis as I was approaching my dirty thirty and I felt like doing something cuh-razy. And by cuh-razy, I just mean chopping off 9+ inches of hair. Before making my appointment, I sent Nalitha a photo of what I had in mind in terms of cut and color. She was super excited about giving my hair a makeover and her enthusiasm totally put me at ease. Arriving at La Tour Salon, Nali was super sweet and attentive. She asked me if I wanted anything to drink; water, tea, beer, wine? I felt so pampered! Getting down to my hair, she took her time to really examine it. The color I wanted was a very light, ashy blonde. She was honest and told me that we were going to aim for that, but my hair would probably take more than one session to get it to the goal. When lifting my hair color, Nali took her time and paid extra attention to literally each strand of my hair. The end result was fabuulous! I made a second appointment as soon as we were done so that I could go in for a second lightening session. Fast forward to my third session with her.. I'm not one to brag or boast, but I seriously think I have the PERFECT hair. Nali has achieved blond bombshell-ness without the brass (my fellow Asian sistahs know what I'm talking about), and I've been getting nonstop compliments on it for 3 weeks straight now. If you're having reservations about doing anything out of the norm to your hair, come to Nali. You'll be in such great hands. La Tour salon - what a great place. The setting is nice, love the music. Most importantly I love my hairstylist Nick. The guy is nice, easy to talk to, very professional and funny. I was recommended by a friend about Nick and once I met the guy (about a year ago), he was awesome, he gave me a thorough consultation, offered me several options with my hair, but recommended the best one. I still have that same cut now. I love it! As for color, he helps me choose it, he knows what's in, add some highlights and bam, I look very good. I previously had dyed dark brown, permed, Asian hair. The last hair cut I got was in seven months, so it was in need of a trim. I love to experiment with my hair so I wanted to go even lighter, medium to light brown. I called to make an appointment and fortunately Nalitha was open and would be happy to dye my mid-back length hair. When I got there, the staff was very friendly and the place was clean and comfortable. I told Nalitha what I wanted/envisioned and then asked her opinion on it. She was very knowledgeable about her work, she knew exactly what type of coloring process she was going to use, etc. I completely trusted her because she was so confident.
