I am 5'10 she informed me because my legs were long it was making her job challenging. She told me the dark circles under my eyes were very noticeable and hard to hide. She got makeup in both of my eyes and informed me because I don't regularly wear makeup this was because of my eyes Despite this I was willing to go with her. However I didn't get back to her within 48 hours. Stated no where. And she never followed up with me leading to last minute confusion on my end assuming having already paid her for a trial would encourage some professionalism in a courtesy follow up. Wedding planning is stressful! Additionally in our last conversation after she informed me she likely couldn't do the makeup. She asked where I was planning on getting ready for my wedding. I told her the salon. She then went on to disparage their space as it doesn't even have the table space she would need to do her work. I already knew from the beginning that Ngan was going to be great to work with - she was friendly and personable and it felt like I was having a conversation with an old friend, to be honest. Ngan was not only patient with me through my trial as she listened to my concerns and worked with me who has 0 knowledge about make up, but she provided suggestions and ideas based on my skin tone and likes and dislikes. My mother also did a separate hair trial with Ngan because she had some concerns if she would be able to get her hair in a bun since she had some bald spots she wanted to cover with thin hair and Ngan was able to reassure her and get to work to make her feel good. Coordinating a time and place for both the trial and the actual wedding day was very easy to do. Ngan and her assistant arrived on the morning of wedding in a timely manner and got to work right away. My bridal party looked and felt amazing which was very important to me. My hair and make up looked perfect - Ngan did a fantastic job. Even though we went through a trial already a few months back, she reiterated what we went through, what we agreed on, and asked if there was any changes to the plan. She worked with me and my thinner eyebrows and I have to toot my own horn and say I looked fantastic. Lipgloss and Ruby Woo. Last year, I struggled with finding the right makeup and had zero luck with a makeup artist for her junior prom (if you don't remember, reference my previous reviews). This year, I told myself for senior prom I would find the perfect makeup artist to assure everything would look fantastic for her high school grand finale. I called two days prior (I know, so much for preparation, right?). I was advised that though they were booked, there may be a chance for securing an artist via walk-in, so today's later, we crossed our fingers and toes and moseyed into the M.A.C. in Emeryville. We were greeted upon entering by the makeup artists who were all diligently working on clients as well as multitasking assisting customers with locating desired items and checking out. After perusing the store, I was approached by the store manager, Matthew, and I explained to him that I was advised to arrive between 2-4 p.m., that I was hoping to make a purchase and have makeup applied for my daughter's prom. He did inform me that they were fully booked and that we likely weren't going to be seen; however, he did agree to check the schedule. Luckily when a previous appointment was a no-show, Matthew asked how soon I needed to leave and explained to me that there would be frequent breaks as he assisted customers, but if I was accepting of the terms, he would service my daughter. Matthew was friendly, communicative, informative, and professional. Truthfully, I can't say enough about how positive and empowering this experience was for my daughter; she was properly matched, given both skincare and college advice while being included in the decision-making process. Matthew did a phenomenal job! My daughter was happy and I myself was grateful and throughly impressed. My daughter applied her lashes herself at home as it was her personal preference. We received so many compliments on her makeup and walked away with items recommended and used to create and possibly recreate the look. Since I've posted her pictures online, friends and teammates have reached out to hopefully secure a makeup appointment for themselves at the M.A.C. store in Emeryville. We will most definitely be returning customers as we have quite a few special events coming up as we prepare for her high school graduation. The WORST makeup experience I've ever had! But when it's not genuine, it's always transparent. I should've read the reviews first; I would've avoided this location. I don't understand how he is the Store Manager based on these reviews showing a clear history of rude behavior and dissatisfied customers, but perhaps MAC doesn't care about their clients. When I arrived to the store, I had the unfortunate experience of Phillip doing my makeup. He listened to NOTHING I asked for and wanted in a look. And it was clear he wasn't a good artist period based on his techniques! My foundation was orange, the liner around my eyes was crooked, horrible blending, clumpy mascara, and creasing around my eyes. I told him repeatedly I didn't like the look, and each time he made it worse. He had no idea what he was doing! I ran out the store, fast, which is why I didn't get a chance to take any pics - and ran over to Sephora to wipe the garish 80s drug addict-prostitute makeup Phillip gave me, and it was there that a real, talented makeup artist gave me the look that I wanted...and it was there that I spent my money on all products she used on me. Avoid this location and avoid Phillip at all costs!!

To start we had a phone and in-person consultation where he got to know me and my wedding party needs, along with a make up trial where I learned which styles would looked best for the big day. The morning of my wedding Max was right on time, had a great set up and used plenty of PPE to ensure everyone felt safe and comfortable. It was a busy morning with back to back applications.
