I love hot dogs and have been looking forward to trying Stuggy's. One afternoon, I was craving a hot dog and popped into Stuggy's around 3pm. I got the mac and cheese hot dog combo with a drink and fries. The hot dog was shriveled and tough to chew; the fries (sadly) were mostly hard and cold tip ends. This was one of the few times in life where I couldn't finish my meal and had to go find food elsewhere. Maybe this place is better during lunch dinner hours when there's higher turn-over. So it's important to note that I was not drunk at the time I visited Stuggy's. I suspect it would have been much more awesome had I been. The location is tiny and cramped. The service was really super friendly and pretty quick. The food was pretty solid. I got the Bison dog with too much stuff on it and fries. I didn't get the Crab Mac and Cheese dog, though that's probably next time. My bison dog was pretty good, but a little over cooked, I think. Kind of dry, but it is bison. The fries were ok. I do have to give extra points for the Boylan's soda fountain. That's a very nice extra. It did end up being more expensive than I expected. A friend and I each had a dog and fries (his were chili) and drinks and the total ended up at like $27. Anyway, I'll probably go back, at least once, to try out that crazy crab mac and cheese dog. Tried to take a girl from Denver who's never been to Baltimore to Stuggy's for an Old Bay Lobster Mac n Cheese dog (which we take all our out of towners to). They close at 8pm, we arrived at 7:50 and we were told to leave. Not only will I will never go again but will never recommend to anyone to go there again. read more

Woohoo! Talk about a food orgasm. We went out on Saturday and went oh so hard at Stuggy's. I'm talkin like 4 different dogs. My alcohol-induced stomach based decision making called for an Italian sausage with sauteed onions, with the highest pile of crab mac-n-cheese possible on one hotdog before you break the barrier and actually have to consider it a second meal. I looove hot dogs and was excited to try their hot dog. I had their chi-town hot dog that consists of Tomato, Pickle Spear, Pickle Relish, Pepperoncini, Celery Salt, and Yellow Mustard. I've been here twice now; I had the Motor City Coney and the Mac 'N Cheese Dog. The hot dogs were flavorful, and their toppings are high-quality. The fries are outstanding; really crispy, well seasoned, and they give you a good amount (you know, not Five-Guys-unreasonable-amount, but they don't skimp, either). We came across this place during the Fells Point Festival after I spent 15$ on the worse chicken on a stick I have ever tasted. Already not in the mood to waste another dime my wife sees hotdogs in the window and couldn't resist. To be honest I wasn't impressed at first but when she gave me a bite I was ashamed of myself and we came back the next day. The guy tonight acted like I had two heads when I asked if they had any venison dogs because they were out of all wild game, despite the sandwich board sign outside saying they had them. And then they forgot to give me one of my dogs, but since they couldn't find my ticket and were closing they didn't want to fix the problem. And they didn't put mustard on one of the dogs. This place was on point! Very delicious, gourmet hot dogs. Mind you, they are priced more than your average dog but the ingredients are top notch and FRESH. Not a bad place to go to for some 1/4lb hot dogs. Had the Carolina Dog and the Motorcity. MotorCity was okay but the Carolina was Awesome! The chili and slaw combo is great. Their fries are also fresh cut as well. If you can try to get it fresh cooked!! Other than that if you're in fells point it's a good stop . A bit pricey for a hot dog but it's not just any hot dog. Hot dogs!!! Yippee. Stuggy's starts with a great roll, (Martin's potato roll) and a superior dog. Right there, you've got success. Then they create magic with their combinations that are fun, creative and simply wonderful. The Cuban and Mac and Cheese with crab meat are both outstanding, magic on a roll. Get the chili cheese fries and deep fried Oreos of you really want to feel like you've totally absorbed Stuggy's. FOOD: AWESOME veggie dog. That was all I had though, so I feel I can't give this venue 5 stars unless I've tried something else. I have heard nothing but great reviews from my friends though. SERVICE: The service was slow despite me being the only person there for a good 20 minutes. I mean they are just making hot dogs, this shouldn't be that complicated! This is my second review of Stuggy's and yes the best dog's out there been to pink's in LA and Rutt's Hut in Jersey and all the New York Hot dog places and Stuggy's is better hands down. Incredible cheese fries! Fried Oreos were a nice surprise and the late night dog was all I hoped for!

The Great: Their FRENCH FRIES when fresh are some of the best fries I have ever had, seriously. Great texture, but have to make sure to get it when it's fresh out the fryer. The Boylan soda fountain. Hard to find a good birch beer in NYC, so this was really cool. The Not-So-Great: Crab Mac and Cheese Hot Dog was just messy. A bit obvious, but really you might as well eat a hot dog, then eat a spoon of mac and cheese. The lobster/crab, didn't actually have much taste. The Carolina Slaw was just as messy. You might as well be eating a hot dog while eating spoonfuls of cole slaw and chili. The chili completely masks the taste of the slaw Bottom Line: Great fries and soda, but their specialty hot dogs really didn't do much for me because the flavors just didn't mix well at all. (04/28/2012) As Keanu once said: "whoa." This place serves up the trifecta of drunk food (fat, salt, starch) to the drunk masses until 3 am in Fells Point on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The staff was equally sneery and patient on the late Saturday night we were there. Dogs are unapologetically over the top. They're split-grilled; more surface area for your Maillard; buns are sturdy enough to hold all your toppings but not intrusive. The Mac 'n' Cheese dog with Old Bay and hot sauce was oozy with Velveeta goodness, a creamy foil to the salty dog. The Late Night Dog with a pile of bacon pieces, fried egg and sauteed mushrooms was an umami protein explosion. The Gunpowder Bison sausage was meaty, interestingly spiced, juicy; went well with fresh sauteed mushroom (chunks, not slices). The more simple, but aptly named Bacon Dog was a beefy weiner spiral wrapped and deep-fried, "whoa." If you can stand fighting for parking and the drunken, hormone-hopped hordes, this place is tubemeat mecca. read more

I go to Hot Dog stands/"restaurants" for one thing and one thing only - a Chicago-style dog. Do that right, and I am a fan for life. Do it half-way ok, and I will continue to patronize your establishment. The first clue that this was not going to be a 100% satisfactory meal was the ingredient list - all the usual players (I will forgive the lack of poppy-seed bun), BUT the addition of corn relish and grilled peppers was a disgrace. I declined those on my dog. Also of note, the hot peppers were missing, and I didn't even see them on the toppings list as a choice. As hot dogs go, this one was not bad, but it should not have been called a Chicago-dog. How about "near-the-lakefront" dog? The fries were pretty good. The restaurant/staff sanitation on this evening was questionable. Although there is a very slight chance that I may give it another try, to taste some of the other dogs, I would only recommend this place if you are (1) drunk, (2) in the neighborhood, and (3) REALLY, really hungry. read more

I love this takeout place. A different take on the hot dog. I appreciate the old fashioned (a la Johnny Polocks), but this is more of a foody treat. My favorite offering here is the fried oreos. A cross between a beignet/pound cake and oreo. They also have a stuggy challenge, which is I will at some time attempt. 3 large hot dogs and an order of chili covered fries in x minutes (time keeps changing). Great fun place to visit. read more

STUGGY'S! I just like saying that. You have to admit it's fun to say. I went to Stuggy's on a Thursday evening not knowing what to expect. The staff were super nice, and I felt very comfortable despite how small the space was. I got a Motor City Coney (a Stuggy's dog with chili, shredded cheddar cheese, and onions). It was pretty good, but I wasn't that impressed. I think it's just me though...I'm not really a huge chili fan (I decided to go out on a limb). They have a looot of different options and toppings. If I had a bigger food budget, I'd try them all! I want to give Stuggy's another chance and try something different next time; I have a feeling my review will gain a star or two once I find the right combination for me. read more

I was a little underwhelmed by this place. Granted, I was probably looking forward to it too much, considering I hadn't really found an awesome hot dog place since I had moved to the city. They get major points for having a Boylan's soda fountain, which has a fairly large selection of flavors. It also is pretty awesome to be able to get your lunch and wander over to eat it at one of the many benches in the square. It makes for great people watching considering how many suburban tourists are frolicking around in this section of Fell's. The fries were really delicious. They're coated in corn starch before they're fried, so they have a really crispy outer layer, which gives way to a hot, mushy potatoey mess on the inside. They're well seasoned and, besides the soda, were the highlight of my lunch. The dog was very disappointing. I got the Carolina slaw dog; my dog had not one, but two, bites of gristle...which is never pleasant. It was topped with red sauce (aka Chili) and cole slaw. The cole slaw was incredibly bland; it was basically sliced red cabbage, tossed in plain mayo. The red sauce was as equally boring, which is a cardinal sin in the hot dog world. For a hot dog that should have tons of flavor because of the two toppings, this left me just feeling "bleh". read more
