    Cheeseburger and fries

Quite stellar customer service. The space was clean and inviting. Food came up really quickly for takeout and was presented very nicely. Burger top notch quality. Perfect presentation. All of my requested toppings were there. Fries really tasty. I had no idea spot was here but coworker steered me to the restaurant. Said it was hotspot pre Covid. Def on the list now for in office days

Spinach Pie platter, with house rice and green String Beans

The food identifies as diner food even if they are trying to be a cafe/grille. And it's pretty good diner food; American, Greek, Italian and Peruvian are all on the menu. My personal fav is the spinach pie platter. I think if they leaned into the diner persona, people wouldn't be as confused by 1224's identity crisis. But a good amount of regulars are coming in and out whenever I'm here, so they've figured it out. It's good, it's quick and it's served with a smile. Platters are a great deal, lots of food! But I agree that the individual items are kinda pricy.

Charm City "Panini" very bad and on stale white bread

Very bad. We ordered here for our Saturday night menu. The Charles St. Baguette turkey sandwich was on small, stale sliced white bread, not a baguette, with very little ingredients. It was offensive that they would try to send that instead. How someone can mess up a turkey sandwich is beyond me. The Peruvian Chicken Wrap had no sauce (it was supposed to be hot spicy), but the chicken and rice in it were good. The Charm City Panini was very embarrassing, also on stale white sliced bread with 2 small pieces of unseasoned chicken. All these sandwiches were over $11, and I was not recompensated.

My salad was horrible and when I asked for shrimp salad I didn't know it was gonna be a garden salad with a scoop of shrimp salad on top. I thought it was just shrimp. I paid for extra chicken and that was a waste. $19 for a salad that was worth maybe $10

6'13'19 Poor Customer Service at it's Finest !! Point the finger and ruin relationships w customers aye ??

Poorer customer service than before. Despite me leaving an above average review over a year ago on Yelp for this business highlighting the positives, management reached out on Google review to critique MY EXPERIENCE from today w many words not including an apology. Kudos to the young lady that initially assisted me and empathized w me when things weren't up to par. She apologized. The issue... Menu was extremely limited due to issues that were beyond the business's control. If a business wants to remain open throughout a minor crisis, they cannot impose on customers... PERIOD. Customer service should be a larger accommodation due to inconvenience. My initial order was Shrimp on a bed a lettuce. I was given a Shrimp Salad Sandwich on lettuce minus bread. I didn't know this weird meal existed. I refused and switched to old mediocre faithful. 1/4 dark meal. There was a $3 price differential that they were unable to offer back in cash or credit. I was offered a cookie or watermelon (not ripe). No & Nope. I requested a side Salad. I always get a side garden/ Caesar salad w meals (see previous visit pics). I had to go toe to toe to get a side salad that I was eventually given but wasn't made fresh and was taken from under the shrimp salad I refused previously. There was so much mayo within lettuce that it flung on my cardigan while I tossed it. NOT COOL! Mayonnaise drenched throughout my lettuce forcing me to trash it. I will not die if I have dairy but large amounts make me ill. I was gonna let it fly but apparently management couldn't. I look forward to no longer wasting time, gas, meter money and brain cells on a restaurant that doesn't practice good customer service.

I went the other night to get take out. My experience was really good. The place is clean. The menu is clear and concise. To tell the truth I'm actually happy that there is a new person at the counter. About a year or two ago there was a girl at the counter taking your order and she was completely rude, sarcastic, and unpleasant. I left feeling like it is about time I take a break from this place. So anyway the new girl at the desk is really nice and pleasant. I will definitely be back and recommend this spot to others. Note: Their Peruvian Chicken isn't completely authentic so don't be disappointed if it's not like what you are looking for. Instead try their burgers, sandwiches, etc

I'm not sure what all the hype is about this place because I didn't think it was that great. I'll admit the delivery was fast and the food was fresh, but probably wouldn't be my go to lunch spot. The house rice was okay (not the best in the world) and had some really mushy green beans in it. The other sides are alright. The macaroni salad seems to be just regular deli salad you could get at the grocery store. I also got the rotisserie chicken sandwich based off another photo on Yelp, and when it arrived I thought they had gotten my order wrong. It was on toasted white bread (not a roll), and looked like chicken salad. I did ask to add mayo, but it seemed like they mixed the chicken and mayo together to make it more of a salad. Should have gotten mayo on the side. They also forgot one of our side salads (Grubhub was able to issue a refund for that). But unfortunately that left one of our coworkers with only half a lunch. The flavor was okay. The half chicken was large but a little dry on the inside. After you get past the first layer, it doesn't have much flavor. After spending a month in Peru, I was excited to try it, but can say that this seems to be Americanized.

I've been here twice and both times my food has been deelish. Initially I tried the Nova Scotia(think BLT with smoked salmon spread), which would be so much better with actual real smoked salmon...but it was passable. The second time I had their take on an Italian Cold Cut. Still good. I've yet to try the peruvian chicken. The only thing about this spot is the transition from ordering to waiting. Because their is no real waiting area for take out, you're kind of meandering by tables. Nothing worse than having your butt towards someone who's trying to eat. LOL It's in my neighborhood, so i'd try it again.

I loved the selection of pastries they offered--the pandan pastry was definitely my favorite. My husband ordered the drip coffee over ice, and I got the Vietnamese iced coffee. Both coffees were excellent. The Vietnamese coffee was a bit too sweet for my taste, and it was served in a very small glass. I think it would have been even better with a little more coffee to balance the sweetness. For lunch, we ordered the kimbap and the egg bowl, and both dishes were outstanding. The only downside was that it took about 35 minutes for our food to arrive. However, the cafe was extremely busy and clearly backed up, so we didn't mind the wait too much--especially since the food was so delicious. And I'm back! And you know it wouldn't be a full service trip to Baltimore without a trip to Chaps!…read moreMy husband and I made our usual stop and got our pit beef sandwich's and I swear every time it's better than we remember. This time we were also notably impressed by the fry's too; nice and crispy and didn't get soggy with a hefty amount of malt vinegar. The servings are big and a regular to a large is usually only a $1 difference... get the large! They were having a special on jerk chicken and my husband got a whole chicken which we took to go and snacked on the rest of the weekend; it was amazing! The lobby and dining space were also nice and clean, fully stocked, and had lots of seating. I love the indoor picnic tables and the condiment choices (I'm a sauce boss!). We then had our flight delayed... by a whole day! And after our general annoyance we realized we would get to squeeze in one more trip to Chaps, blessing in disguise. See you guys again sooner than later, we'll be thinking about you till then!

I travel to Baltimore often for work, and when two completely separate people tell me I need to eat…read moresomewhere, eventually I'm going to listen. In the case of Chaps Pit Beef, I've now listened twice. First, the setting deserves its own star. There's something wonderfully Baltimore about pulling into a place famous across the country for pit beef, sharing the immediate surroundings with a strip club, and knowing you can shop for used tires across the street when you're finished. Add the walls of awards, television appearances, photos and decades of accumulated lore inside and the whole thing feels less like stopping for lunch and more like making a small pilgrimage. And that's part of why I'm struggling with Chaps. I've tried several of the sandwiches across my two visits. I've piled on the raw onions, pickles and sauces. I've ordered too much--which feels both heroic and completely appropriate here--and walked away convinced that Chaps is very good. But I haven't found my five-star Chaps order yet. The pit beef itself is clearly the reason for the pilgrimage, and the condiment station is part of the experience. Beef, raw onion and that horseradish-heavy Tiger Sauce is a combination I could happily keep attacking. But then you look around at the menu and realize you've barely scratched the surface: beef, sausage, corned beef, turkey, enormous combinations of all of the above, gravy fries, homemade sides and sandwiches carrying names and reputations of their own. It's almost overwhelming. That's ultimately why I'm leaving Chaps at four stars--for now. There's a five-star experience hiding here. I can feel it. I'm just not convinced I've ordered it yet. Next visit I'm stripping this thing back before building it up again: pit beef medium-rare, raw onion and Tiger Sauce as the control. Then I'm going in the opposite direction with one of the ridiculous combinations--probably Guy's DDD--and finally giving the gravy fries their proper opportunity. If that unlocks what generations of Baltimoreans and seemingly every food television personality already know, I'll happily come back here and move this to five stars. If after three visits I'm still admiring the institution more than craving the food, maybe it moves the other direction. For now: Chaps is absolutely worth the stop. The food is good, the history is real, and the atmosphere couldn't be manufactured if someone tried. I just haven't cracked the code yet. Four stars, with one more trip pending.

Good space. I was sad to see that they left. The replacement, however, has truly impressed me. The new & improved current location has nearly 'quadrupled' in size with its redesign/ buildout. The location is well lit and has morphed from a small neighborhood cafe into a full service vendor. Aside from a menu offering an impressive myriad of options, HM is also a massive grocer/ wine & cafe. They offer wine tastings and a very clean space. I believe they openEd in 2025. On to the stats: STAFF: Everyone is friendly & helpful. SUNDRIES: An expansive selection of liquor, beer & wine; snacks; candy; soda; coffee; household goods; grocer goods; Knick knacks.
