The sausage and egg sandwich came on a croissant, and it was toasted perfectly with just the right amount of butter. We really enjoyed that one. The cheesesteak was also very good. The bread was nicely toasted, and the lettuce and tomato were fresh. My only suggestion would be to add a little more meat because the sandwich could definitely use it, but overall the flavor was good and we enjoyed it. The corned beef hash was good too -- I added a little hot sauce and killed it! What really stood out to us was the service. Even though this is a carryout-style place, they brought our food, condiments, and even our drinks right over to the table while we waited. Everyone was very hospitable, friendly, and welcoming. Great little spot with good food and nice people. We will definitely be going back!

Loud pop music greets you as you walk in. Zauq is to the right. It seemed like a lot of folks were picking up classic American fare: wings, onion rings, other chicken dishes, but I was coming for some Halal food. I got a large rice platter with mixed chicken and lamb. The shredded chicken was okay; could have used more seasoning or something, but that's why they give you white and/or red sauce. The lamb was basically cubed gyro meat, which I enjoyed; I would get a platter of just this next time. You can add as many toppings as you'd like, including onion, lettuce, tomato, chickpeas, pickles, and hot peppers. Make it what you want. For $9.99 (as of 2025), that's a bargain for the amount of food you get. Overall it tasted pretty good. I think if I come back I'm going to try out the falafel and/or the fried chicken sandwiches. The folks are friendly and fast. The whole place, staff and clientele, seemed to be a melting pot of every ethnic group imaginable - Woodlawn baby, gotta love it. There's a Shahada posted above the counter in both Arabic and English, but the food is for everyone and I'm here to say, it's solid. You won't be disappointed.

Ordering at the counter, the lady was super nice. She made sure you knew what you were getting and answered any questions. Then you sit or wait if taking to go. The place felt like it had some regulars seating by the grill. We felt comfortable with the family (3 smaller kids). The adults had the cheesteak as prepared (mushrooms, onions, sharp cheddar - I believe, and mayo. The kids tried the chicken cheesesteak without veggies. Both were outstanding. The bread is top notch. Can't say enough positive things. We also took a cheesesteak to go because our son was still hungry. They have other things, but we can only rave about the cheesesteak! I ordered quickly without fully checking out the menu, but I was pleasantly surprised by how extensive it was -- there's something for almost every palate. My wings were fried to perfection. Even though they were mostly flash-fried, there was something about them that made them stand out from the usual. The dry rub wasn't overly salty, and they weren't fried so hard that reheating them later was an issue. The fried rice, while typical, was loaded with veggies and fried egg. I didn't even need soy sauce or yum yum sauce -- it was delicious just as it was! I even took some to work the next day, pairing it with leftover salmon my husband made for dinner. The staff was very friendly, and the manager (possibly the owner) was great, making sure I had everything I needed to include grabbing condiments before I left. The space was open, bright, colorful, and felt exceptionally clean. I really hope they keep up the good work and don't slack off over time. We need places like this to stick around -- especially since I've got my eye on the onion rings and fried okra for next time!

In different visits, I've ordered salmon and grits, shrimp po boy, salmon and grits. All of them solid choices. At one of our "working lunches" we opted for adult beverages to take the edge off of an especially trying day lol. Sturdy drinks indeed. Today, you will find the same delicious foods, outstanding personnel, and friendly service that has been maintained for over three generations. ATTMAN'S has the flavor and excitement like that of the East Side of New York City, where our famous corned beef comes out steaming hot from our kettles all day, seven days a week; and where the taste of real Jewish hot pastrami makes your mouth water for more." (https://attmansdeli.com/history/) This place became popular back in the day for Jewish food specialties especially around Passover and their kosher products. The current location was established in 1933 and still stands today. Sandiwches: I got the original 'Corned Beef' Sandwich. I got it "Extra Heavy +$" with more meat, regular cut meat (there is an option of regular cut vs lean cut for an upcharge), with Sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, with deli mustard, on toasted rye bread. DIY rueben-esque. The sandwich was amazing! Quality corned beef, so fresh and tasty. Highly recommended. This is their true, time and tested menu item! I also got the 'Lombard Street' sandwich, on toasted rye bread. It had pastrami, corned beef, chopped liver and Russian dressing. Good blend of different flavors and textures. I was expecting a savory liver pate sort of taste, but it's on the sweeter side. Which I found interesting, sorta not my jams but definitely someone else's. The 'Lombard Street Coddies' was a lil soft baked fish cake patty. It came wrapped in foil with a stone ground mustard packet and crackers, snack size. I expected some toasted crunch on the outside, but it didn't have that. Kinda smushy all over. Desserts: The 'Strawberry Shortcake' was more of a denser/ heavier cake with a cream cheese layer. The frosting was harder and super sweet. The 'Rainbow Cake' was super pretty with its colorful layers, just like the pictures. Denser sweet chocolate cake. Both cakes were good, but my preference is for softer airier cake. And icing that's lighter and less sweet. The 'Chocolate Top Cookie' (each) was a softer sugar-cookie-like base with a generous glob of chocolate frosting on top. This I'd probably not get again. The 'Black Bottom Cupcake' was super moist and yums, recommended. This I would get again. Sides: I got the 'Attman's House Salad' with Russian dressing. It was a decent sized salad, you could add different protein options on. Blend of tomatoes and lettuce. The 'Homemade Potato Salad' and the 'Homemade Coleslaw' were packaged in smaller sauce containers. Both were nice accompaniments for the sandwiches. I also got the 'Bubbie's Matzo Ball Soup'. The matzah/matzo ball was packaged in a separate tub from the soupy portion. There were good potions of vegetables and soup. It was my first time trying out a matzo ball, definitely interesting. The dough-flour bite went well with the hot chicken flavored soup. Overall, I got a bit of everything in my to-go DoorDash order to try thing out. It's very different from the types of food I usually get. This was a good experience. I really liked the corned beef sandwich here, highly recommend that. Try this place out if you have the time!
