The guys were clean and before they entered they slipped on a pair of "booties" over their shoes to do the run thru with me. As we went over the items I told them I didn't get a chance to box a few things and before I could finish they said no worries they could get it packed up and ready for me. sweet!!!! They were very careful with my items and I was impressed with their efficiency. When we got to the new location, I did the walk thru with the guys so they knew where to put some of the bigger items and I was surprised yet again by them putting the shoe covers on before entering the house. They had a good system and everything was done in record time! When I finally got around to unpacking the boxes they did for me, I was taken aback at how neat and with care the articles were bubble wrapped and placed not thrown into the box. Perhaps I interrupted her break? She seemed really irritated by the one question I asked in response to her asking me if I had any questions, rolling her eyes and mumbling under her breath openly throughout our entire interaction. In the middle of the process of me renting a storage space, she literally ran out of the store to yell at someone that she thought was about to park nearby. I thought about ducking out right then but honestly I was afraid she'd chase me down yelling too. Predictably, when the charges hit my card 2 days later it was a different price than I was quoted by Selam. I returned to the store with my contract and the paperwork printed and signed in that very location showing the discrepancy, only to be told by a large bearded kid behind the desk that he "was only a part-time employee" and that he "couldn't help me." When I called the company for an ETA, I kept getting a later and later ETA. Around 6 PM still with no honest ETA, I spoke with the manager Kate. She said the the office would be closing soon, but that there was an error and I had been scheduled after a long, all-day job. This is despite the fact that when I had the confirmation call with the scheduler, I had reiterated that the 1-5 PM window was what I wanted. Finally at 7:30 PM I got an ETA of arriving to *start* the job at 8 PM! I had spoken with a few managers at this point, who assured me that despite the crew having worked an entire day's long job, there was no cut-off and they would keep working... I am not a labor law expert but that is a terrible way to treat your employees doing demanding physical labor all day long who have not even had dinner. I said no to having an exhausted crew who had worked all day long come to start my job at 8 PM at night. Not only did I not want an exhausted crew to keep working on my behalf, I also could not be the new neighbor moving in at 10 PM (which would have been the case given the distance and load time). Instead, I asked to have the job finished the next morning, which I am thankful they accommodated (the bare minimum here). This was a HUGE headache, I had taken time off of work for this move, and it was wasted waiting all afternoon and evening for an honest ETA. The communication was poor, only one person apologized for this snafu at all and I kept having to call back to get updates (few people called me back when they said they would). Additionally, I had reserved street parking at my new residence (required 4 business days notice to do so) which had expired by the time the movers ever showed up. It only worked out because my new landlord and ALL the other tenants VERY kindly helped me out by moving all their cars. All this headache and I had to ask for a discount, which ended up only being 10 percent. That didn't even cover the wasted reserved parking fee I paid for! The movers themselves were very good at their job, but it doesn't seem like they are treated well. When I told the first crew it was too late to start my move, they should get a rest and dinner, they were so relieved. I had expected so much better from such a highly rated company.

So the less items you store, the lower the monthly rate, which I've found to be very reasonable and fair. The only catch is that when you need your items delivered, the delivery fees can be very high ($20-40+) depending on how far advance you schedule the delivery. If you use their bins and end up emptying them out at home, they will charge $30 to pick up the bin(s) or charge $15 per bin that you decide to keep. This is how they make their money. MakeSpace is best for items you want to keep in long-term storage but not ideal if for items you need regularly.

I CANNOT get a real person on the phone and are continuing to charge me after I asked to close my storage Account. DO NOT work with them, they are completely unprofessional and you will never hear from a real person to solve your issues. I recommend strongly you find a different storage company.
