I found Ahmad on Craigslist and needed moving help getting a very heavy gun safe up stairs and into my house. He was able to do a same day service on a Friday evening and the two men got the heavy safe in the house. They were patient and courteous while we sorted out where to put the safe. Communication was excellent for scheduling and a heads up for arrival time. They arrived in the window they quoted and did the job for the agreed upon price. Did not show up for an appointment made several weeks in advance, did not respond to messages trying to confirm said appointment, and left us in a lurch for a time sensitive removal of an item. Hugely unprofessional and a waste of my time, as well as a huge inconvenience. Don't hire them if you actually want stuff removed- chances are they don't show. read more

I've used Junk Guys twice before and had great experiences. Yesterday...not so much. Until yesterday, I thought I could trust Junk Guys, but not now. When I called about this pick up, I was told it would be $1,000 for a full truckload, $500 for half, $250 for 1/4. (Incidentally, his verbal quote is double the pricing that is listed on the website.) I had a twin mattress, two twin boxsprings, maybe 6-7 bags of loose trash, and two bottles of chemicals, and the entire process only took about 15-20 minutes. The load was barely 1/3 of the truck. I was shocked when Ahmad told me it would be $700! When I balked, he said he could give me a $100 "discount," which was still not reasonable. He wasn't backing down and I didn't want any drama as I was alone, so I paid him. I texted him to express my disappointment. I told him that If this job was calculated at an hourly rate, it would equate to about $1,800 per hour, which is ridiculous. He didnt even bother to respond. I feel very much like I was taken advantage of, particularly because knew I was clearing out my sister's apartment after her unexpected death. I feel very scammed. I appreciate the other two times they helped me and charged me fairly, but I won't use them again. read more

I contacted Junk Guys because of the glowing reviews and I was really pleased when Ahmad responded quickly to my inquiry. After several emails back and forth for estimates, we started talking schedule and he said his earliest date would be 11/29. I said I couldn't, so he suggested Wednesday 11/30. I said that would work for me, but just to be sure, I asked what time he'd get here on Tuesday if he did come then. I got no response; that was 10 days ago. I reached out yesterday to confirm whether they were coming or not today and again got no response, and no one came. I guess asking a follow-up question was too much trouble. I needed this job done badly and had really high hopes for Junk Guys, so I'm disappointed. read more

We needed to get rid of our couch and dining set ahead of a move, and our building only allowed us to reserve the loading dock for one time slot, so the time window they could be in the loading dock before our movers arrived was relatively tight. I made a note to request they come in the earlier side of the time provided- they called the night before to reconfirm which was appreciated, and arrived earlier than expected (also appreciated)! They were friendly, professional, efficient, and reasonably priced. It was a really positive experience over all. Will be using them again next time we need junk hauled. read more

I called the night before to confirm pick up and he didn't recall my scheduled pick up. However he said he would be there the next morning between 9-10 am. I texted him my roommates number and said to call him in the morning. He called me at 9 am and said he had a flat tire and would be late by two hours. After confirming with Ahmad a day and time via text and email, he and his team were complete no shows on the pick up day. He has refused to answer calls or emails. Beyond being inconvenient, he also cost us a LOT of money when we were forced to schedule an alternate service on the same day. Consider looking elsewhere for reliable service. read more

I called Junk Guys to pick up a large amount of construction trash they were able to come out to my house at my earliest convenience. Ahmad was easy to work with a completed the job well. Ahmad (and/or his crew) simply did not show up on the date/time that we agreed on. I was coordinating a move while out of town. Moving is never easy, and definitely not easy when you are out of town. That said, I found Ahmad online, and (as you can see) he had positive reviews. Two weeks in advance, I scheduled a time for Ahmad to pick up my furniture. Ahmad was courteous, but not too responsive. For example, I had to call him to see if he saw my email and then ask him to follow up with a "confirmed" email. I changed my pick up time twice and each time I went through the same circus, send email, wait for a response, call Ahmad, and then get a "confirmed" email either later that day or next day. That should have set off alarms but his reviews were positive, and I chalked this all up to Ahmad likely being busy. Well, I was dead wrong. On the day of the scheduled move, Ahmad and his crew was supposed to be there from 2-4pm. I called to see where they were, as my brother was waiting at my apartment. They said they had a flat tire, but would be a "little late." When I pressed for a time, they said "4:30ish." I gave Ahmad the benefit of the doubt (mistake number two) assuming flat tires are common and that it was only 30 minutes. 4:30 rolls around. Ahmad and his team are nowhere to be found. I call again, and they say they will be "about 20 minutes." 20 minutes later, I follow up, and again they say they need "another 20 minutes." I wait once again and, after 20 minutes have gone by, I call one more time and the crew "says another 10 minutes." Frustrated, I canceled the job. At that point, I secured another mover - NELSON'S MOVERS - who said he could show in 15 minutes and guess what he was there in 15 minutes, removed my junk within half an hour and everything was solved. I recommend Nelson's Movers without any reservation, especially if you don't want any stress or run around with a move. It's one thing to not respond promptly to an email, it's another thing to have a flat tire and be late. It's a completely different story when a business LIES to you and says they are coming to perform a service that you expected and simply do not show. Ahmad claims he had a "bad day." That was clearly the case. If you need a mover, and want to risk Ahmad having a bad day, then don't listen to me. If you want someone who is going to do the job at the drop of a hat, go with Nelson's movers. read more

This company is NOT responsive at all. Do not waste your time and find somebody else who can at least answer your calls. Have an upright piano in Northern VA (area code 703) I wanted to junk. 1. Emailed them about 10 days ago: no answer! 2. Called them 10 times on their advertised numbers at 202-600-8338 and 202-999-4688: nobody picked up. 3. Called up the numbers from their video clip on their web site at 202-600-5398. Turns out to be somebody else's number! Yesterday (Sat, March 28th) finally was able to get Emad (spelling?) who said "yes, he'd pick up the piano on Sun between 10:00-12:00 for $100. So I told other movers I had contacted "thanks, found a mover." Come Sun, no calls, nothing. I kept calling their numbers (listed above) but could not get to anybody ... nobody. From 10:30 to 1:30 I called them 5 times from my home number (703 number), cell number (703 number), and from my other phone (202 number) but still no answer! So, Emad called me at 2:45 responding to my call from my 202 number which sounded like he was trying to sign up another customer!!! The moment he found out it was me (the 703 guy) he said he ran into some mechanical issues while picking up stuff in McLean and he just got home. So I asked "OK, do you intend to pick up the piano today or tomorrow?" His response was golden! "if you want the piano removed you might want to get somebody else!" Seems to me the business etiquette is to respond to be responsive to customers. I wasted a whole day waiting for these guys to at least call me to say they have problems. The fact that their numbers are not working or wrong says a lot about this company, how real they are, and how much they care about their customers. read more

These guys were fast and got the job done - what you see is what you get - this business doesn't seem to need a lot of frills. Same-day mattress removal. Called both numbers on the website and with the second number Ahmad answered; this call was at 2 pm on a Friday, and they were at my place in NW DC by 5 pm that same evening to take my mattress, box spring, and bed frame (bed bugs). Ahmad confirmed via text message and said when he was 30 min away. Ahmad and the second "junk guy" were friendly. Total cost was $100. read more

After quoting me a price to remove my refrigerator, these clowns showed up late and then refused to do the job. They claimed there were too many steps, they had to take the doors off, and it was too much work for the price they quoted me -- even though I had warned them about all that when I got my quote. Additionally, the crew reeked of cigarette smoke so badly that I had to open the windows in my house for hours after they left, just to air the place out. I would NEVER recommend this company again, and if I could give them negative stars, I'd do it. read more

I'm surprised by the negative review I saw. I had a totally different experience. When I contacted Junk Guys DC, I was contacted right away. We exchanged several emails, all of which were extremely timely. I used the service around September 2015, so not sure if anything has changed since then. I was desperate to have an old bed/mattress removed after I purchased a new one. Most charities didn't want to take the mattress, and the one that did was uncomfortable parking on my city street. I couldn't seem to get rid of it. Other junk removal companies quoted me ridiculous prices to have the mattress removed. I finally found Junk Guys DC, which saved me. They came within very short notice, found a way to park on my city street, were quick and efficient, and they charged me a very reasonable fee. Ahmad was the guy who came to my house, and he was professional. I was very pleased with the experience. read more
