I've been going here for years, and my clothes have always been cleaned beautifully. The customer service had also been consistently good, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Last fall, I brought in a suede jacket for cleaning and was told it would be sent to a specialty cleaner because it was suede. When I checked on it in February, I was told it was taking longer because the suede cleaner had been on leave. When I followed up again last month, I was shocked to be told they had never received my jacket. After checking their system, they insisted I had never dropped it off. What disappointed me most was not even the lost jacket. It was the lack of accountability and the complete absence of an apology. I was not asking for compensation. I simply wanted someone to acknowledge what happened and say they were sorry. Instead, when I pulled the owner aside to express my disappointment, she looked at me with confusion, as though I was making the whole thing up. read more

NEVER AGAIN! I brought a pair of Linen shorts here last month that had a small stain in the back and I got them back with the exact same stain! The other week I dropped of some more clothes including a sweater with a small food stain and back with the same food stain that I pointed out but the kicker was a designer tshirt that I've had for a couple years and specified that they dry clean it and when I took it out of the bag to wear it the other day, not only did I noticed it having a complete different texture than before and not fitting anymore and it was shrunk but this is the torn condition I got it in! I brought stuff here for a few years, it used to be good but quite honestly this was the last straw. I heard of a place in Rockville which is pricey and inconvenient but if you have nice items I would pay extra for the care of those items read more

This is a family-owned small business and they remember all of their recurring customers. Their cleaning prices are reasonable and they've done a good job with all of my alterations, including several pieces of formal wear and gowns. Bessons's recently sold their interest in the business. The new owners appear disorganized, pickup and delivery dates come and go without their knowledge the pickup and delivery ever occurred. Very sad to see the new ownership struggle with what appears to have been a very successful business. I hate to write a bad review, but wanted to warn others if they are thinking about taking silk/Reformation items to Bessons. I took one of my favorite dresses here for a routine clean (note no major stain minus some dirt on the bottom) and upon pickup it was covered in all these pink/white spots. When I asked to re-clean, I was told "oh we always have issues with this brand." The second time the stains were not out and I asked to speak to the managers who informed me that this was not them and they "do not use bleach or anything that could have stained." I was so upset as this was an almost 300$ dress and i was not even able to get a refund for the 30$ clean that they charged. Extremely disappointing that there was 0 resolutions offered and they ruined one of my favorite gowns. Horrible customer service and lack of responsibility. read more

I am newer to the neighborhood and recently dropped a suit off at Besson's. The staff was very kind and helpful in their check-in process, customer service, ticketing and timely completion. They confirmed they could have my items ready by the desired time. They also were relatively affordable from a pricing standpoint based on my review of other dry cleaners in the area. When I went in to pick-up my suit, I didn't have my ticket, but they were easily able to access my items based on phone number. I cannot say enough amazing things about this place! I accidentally washed a limited edition white sweatshirt with new velvet dark leggings. Needless to say, the velvet leggings color bled onto several pieces but essentially tie-died my white sweatshirt. I mean, DOZENS OF BLACK SPLOTCHES ALL OVER MY LIMITED EDITION SWEATSHIRT. I tried to fix it at home for two days and was about to trash the clothing item until I found this place through online reviews. Someone said they were good at stain removal which is the understatement of the century. I expected the stains to go from black to gray but I did not expect my sweatshirt to look brand new! The stains are completely gone and my sweatshirt is crisp white and bright like I just bought it! Kwan is a wizard! I was so happy I was embarrassed to say I got teary eyed. I really thought I was going to have to get rid of it but Kwan saved the day! Thank you to your team so much!! Best dry cleaners in DC hands down! If I could give 0 stars I would. Ruined a very nice overcoat. I sent it back and some of the markings / stains came out after a second cleaning but were still slightly visible. After, they kept the jacket for over 3 weeks and still returning it damaged, I spoke with the owner. She informed me that the stains were from "wear and tear" of usage. I've owned / own plenty of overcoats and never once have I had wear on the sleeves locations where there is damage. Also the jacket now has a different texture. Unfortunately they refused to do anything more about it than say. "sorry" my issue. Horrible customer service and lack of responsibility. read more

WARNING - DON'T DO ALTERATIONS HERE. They charged me $75 to take in the pants part of a new jumpsuit. The seamstress assured me it could be easily done. When I came back a week later to pick up the jumpsuit, I tried it on and it looked RIDICULOUS. Instead of a smooth line from waste to bottom hem, the silhouette of the pants was now wavy. It bulged out at the hip, went in at a point directly above my knee, bulged out again below my knee, and then in again at the bottom hem. To make matters worse, the waviness of the right leg was different from that of the left leg. After another failed attempt to rectify her work, the seamstress refused to refund the $75, claiming she had spent "a lot of time" working on the jumpsuit. She was unapologetic about having ruined it, and blamed the design of the jumpsuit for being difficult to modify. When I reminded her that she had assured me the alteration could be easily done, she just shrugged. What a racket. read more

The lady could talk clear English and explain very well the different services available. In town for work for several days & went to Besson's for their fluff & fold laundry service. All the staff was so nice & their customer service was wonderful. Dropped off my laundry on Saturday at 9:30 AM, they called at 1:15 PM the same day telling me it was ready. I had a full standard size laundry bag, laundry only, no dry cleaning, my laundry was returned to me nicely folded wrapped in tissue paper in two paper bags. Laundry bag was washed as well. Total was $52, which is salty for a fluff & fold but for as much laundry as I had, as well as being on a Saturday & done perfectly & above expectation within 4 hrs, it was money well spent. I highly encourage anyone in the Georgetown/DC area who needs laundry services to come to Besson's. They're so incredibly nice & professional. Accepts credit cards. Street parking. read more

I started going tk news in about 3 years ago and it was excellent. the young couple that owned it sold it maybe 6 months ago and it' is now terrible. they loose clothes and burn them. I'm sad this has happened to this business bc at one time it was very good. my advice would be don't take your clothes there - there is a highly probability they will lose them or ruin them. read more

Find someplace else in the neighborhood. I should have been more cautious in using Besson's for the first, and last, time. The service itself was exactly like every other dry cleaners, nothing special in any way. They do not have prices posted which to me is always a point of caution. But seriously how much could it cost to have a suit and shirts cleaned/pressed? The cost for the suit was $16.95 which definitely seems a bit high but not outrageous. But they charged $5.95 for each shirt!!! My usual place is $1.95 per shirt. Needless to say I will not be going back as I feel they took advantage of pricing - almost fraudulently. So DEFINITELY ASK for the full price before handing over your garments since they don't post the price and they don't clearly communicate their services when questioned about options. Hey Besson's, put up a sign with your services and corresponding prices and place it on your website too. Until they do I suggest you avoid this establishment or exercise extreme caution. read more

Not only do they do a fantastic job cleaning my clothes, but they are also great fixing shoes. I am not sure if they do shoe repairs in house, but I appreciated that the female owner accepted my shoes and took notes on what I wanted fixed (Saturday). Two days later she called to tell me the prices of fixing the inside of my sneakers ($30) and fixing the insoles of my leather boots ($18). She knew the sneakers would be too expensive and said I probably wouldn't want that. Then I told her it was fine to fix the insoles for $18. By Wednesday, my items were ready, and I was pleasantly surprised. My insoles have been beaten up over this past winter, and to my surprise, it wasn't a simple fix - the insoles were taken out and new ones were sewn in. More impressive was the leather color matched my boots. On top of that, my shoes were handed to me in a bag to take home with the sneakers and boots in special packaging. read more

I've been going to Besson's for over five years, and I can say with confidence that they are the best dry-cleaners in DC. Almost everything I own is dry-cleaning only, and they have not ONCE messed anything up. Pre-Covid, I was there almost weekly, and I never had to remind them of my name or phone number. I usually never lose my temper but I went off the handle at Besson's Cleaners. I just left now after a huge argument with the 2 women who work there. I ran home to write this review because I am shaking from being so upset. I had a good experience with them once earlier this year when I needed a jacket hemmed. I went back because I needed a fix to a coat that I received as a gift. The coat has 4 clasps/hooks: top, upper-top, lower-bottom, and bottom. Last week, the bottom hook came off and fell inside of the seams of the coat and was stuck inside. I went into Besson's last Thurs evening to ask if they could open the seam of the coat, take out the clasp, and sew it back on to the bottom hole from which it was missing. The older woman kind of gave me a hard time telling me they couldn't sew it back on it because the button was not sewn on in the first place- rather it was put on with a manual hand press machine. So I proceeded to ask if they could fix it another way, asking if they could sew it on instead- she said no. I asked if there were any other options, such as sewing on a different kind of hook they may have had there and the older woman kind of got a little snippy with me telling me that they can't do what I want. I should have left right there and listened to my gut (that they did not want to do this work), but then they told me as I was about to leave that they would ask the seamstress if she could sew a different hook on. I said ok and I left the coat there. They called me the next day and said not only could they sew the hook back on, but that they could use my original hook. I was super excited. They said it would be 25 dollars and that I could pick it up on Tues (today). I went in and picked up the coat. I paid for it and thanked the younger woman for being so prompt with the service. I left and while I was opening the plastic around the coat to inspect the hook at the bottom, not only was that hook STILL missing and stuck inside the coat, the second to last hook was now gone too! I felt the coat and felt TWO hooks now floating around in the seam of the coat. So instead of 4 clasps, now there were just 2- the 2 bottom clasps are NOW missing (picture attached). I went back in and asked the older lady, who initially helped me the week prior, if there had been some kind of mistake. I was very calm at first and explained that not only had they not fixed the hook, but now there was another hook missing. The older woman was immediately defensive and grabbed the jacket and pointed at the top hook and said they "fixed" the top hook. I was thinking, am I in the Twilight Zone??? I laughed and said, "ma'am, this top hook was already there. The bottom hook was missing and I asked you to open the seam, take the hook out and sew it back on. Now there are TWO hooks missing and they are now both in stuck in the coat." She raised her voice and insisted that they "fixed" the top clasp. I raised my voice and said it's absolutely RIDICULOUS that they are referring to a hook that was already there and that now they ruined the jacket even further by making yet another hook fall off inside the jacket. The older lady screamed at me and told me that it's not their fault that the quality of the material of the jacket is so cheap that hooks keep falling off inside. Seriously? I screamed back at her that I wanted my money back for not only for not fixing the hook, but for handing me back a jacket that now was even worse shape than when I brought it in! They started yelling at me saying I have no right to yell at them. I mean, folks, are you kidding me? I am completely dumbfounded that these two women are telling me because I'm yelling that I'm being disrespectful. They seem to be lying about the fact they not only "fixed" the top hook, which is completely ridiculous since it was already there, but they never knew about any bottom hook missing. I am sorry I am repeating myself but I am still in such awe that these two women could so brazenly tell me to my face they "fixed" the hook. I feel like I am in Orwell's 1984- reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. Instead of being apologetic and even admitting that they did anything wrong, they told me they fixed something they did not fix and told me TWICE that it's not their fault a second clasp fell into the seam because the material of the jacket is cheap. I've never been so offended in my life. Then the older lady said they would now "fix" the 2 missing hooks for me. I yelled, absolutely not- that I would never trust them to touch my jacket again. I yelled for a refund. She yelled, she swiped my card, and threw it at me, telling me she gave me a refund. I screamed at them and definitely used a lot of profanity- for which I am NOT sorry. After I left, I saw on my bank statement that not only did she not refund me the 25, but that she charged me a second time (screenshot attached). I have already disputed both with my bank. I was initially a little disappointed since I heard the original owners moved back to Korea due to a family emergency and have asked their relatives to take care of the business....at least that's what I think they told me, but in the end, the service is still equally as friendly and they still do a great job on my shirts. I'm updating this review because I picked up my shirts today and found one of my broken buttons fixed. What a pleasant surprise and a much appreciated thing to get on occasion. They are really hands-down the best cleaner in the area and I have also visited another dry cleaner that got equally high reviews and I don't think they are as good...at least in service and quality...but I guess that's comparing the best to the best. Finding a reliable dry cleaner in DC has been quite a struggle. Besson's has been just that. I needed a suit cleaned for a few rounds of interviews and they were always timely and prompt with their cleaning. The pricing was appropriate for what I expected with the convenience of being right on 14th St. My suit was always clean and well pressed. Twice I needed them to have my suit ready faster than the normal turnaround time and they were able to accommodate me without any problem. I will definitely rely on them in the future for anything that I need to be done well and on time.
