Do not take embroidered clothes here. I took a delicate embroidered jacket here and it came back with tons of loose seams and tatters on one side. The embroidery cannot be replicated since the exact thread color match isn't really possible. They were kind, fast and didn't lose the item, but for anything important I would NOT recommend. read more

For over ten years, I patronized this business with all manner of dry cleaning and sewing requests. No job was ever too large or small. I recall -with clarity and fondness- the commitment and communication of the proprietor, and the seamstress. Top notch read more

This is my go-to dry cleaning. In fact, it's the only place I go in DC. The lovely family that runs this place is a warm and welcoming sight upon walking in the door. I know some people have complained about silly things like buttons, but seriously, it's a dry cleaners. At some point, solvents will ruin buttons--no matter where you go. I've been going here a couple times a week for over three years and never once has anyone there been anything but gracious. It is ludicrous to me to think that someone would raise their voice at a customer. They are so nice, they even gave me a coffee mug as a Christmas present for being such a good customer. These are good people, running a top-notch business. If it's a few cents more than the chain down the street, then I'm happy to pay for the great service and experience. I also recommend them for fixing ripped jeans, torn shirts, hemming pants/skirts. They work hard and do a great job with a smile. What more can you ask for? read more

I have been to Mt. Pleasant Cleaners a dozen times over the past year, and have been very pleased with my experiences: 1) From the first visit when I was given a 15% discount for being a new customer; 2) to the time I brought in a white shirt with what another dry cleaner claimed was a "permanent stain" and they got it out with no problem; 3) to the time I brought in a new blazer in need of extensive tailoring at 3pm on a Thursday for an event at 7pm on Friday (and was initially told two weeks, but when I said I needed it the next day the owner said she would make it happen and she did); 4) to the time I had the zipper on a winter jacket replaced and the replacement failed and she replaced it again at no charge, the next day with no fuss. I trust my designer labels here for cleaning and tailoring. They've never lost or damaged anything. I'm sure that happens from time to time at every dry cleaners, but not here for me. And yes, the cleaning costs a tiny bit more than my cheapo cash only dry cleaner across town where I take my bulk run of the mill work clothes, but this is worth it entirely. It's a true neighborhood, family-owned and operated business and the proprietor is always there to welcome you and personally thank you for your business. If you ask me that means something. Go. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have been coming to Mt. Pleasant Cleaner's for two and a half years. I live in the neighborhood and discovered this place the week I moved in. I have been going back ever since. I have had coats, suits, dresses, shirts, pants and suits dry-cleaned, and they always turned out well. I have also had dresses tailored--usually small adjustments here and there--and the alterations were perfect! The women who work there all know me, and honestly, it's like coming to Cheers every time I drop something off for cleaning. Everyone is friendly, checks in on how I'm doing, chats with me about this or that article of clothing I am dropping off.... This place really makes me feel like I belong in this neighborhood. Please support them and take your dry-cleaning there. They make Mt. Pleasant a warmer, more neighborly place. read more

This place is the best! I didn't realize how amazing they truly were until I moved out of the neighborhood. Everything was always ready on time, and very clean. I never had any problem with them losing anything, and the price is pretty decent for dry cleaning for Washington D.C. The women who works there is always friendly and greets you with a warm smile. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area! read more

I've used this cleaner for over a year and have had no problems. That said, after seeing the other reviews, I plan to keep my receipts going forward... Regardless, they've always been very friendly and have done a nice job of cleaning and packaging my garments. I've even had some tailoring done here and was happy with that also. read more

This place did a fine job but I wasn't blown away. They charged $12 for a suit, which seemed a little bit expensive.

Pretty solid dry cleaning place. They do a good job with men's dress pants and shirts. You can usually get your clothes back within 2 days and sometimes even sooner. I've also used them to stitch up some pants and they did a pretty good job. The prices here seemed comparable to others in the area. read more

If I could, I would give them 0. They lost my clothes! It was my first time going, and everything seemed fine. I then tried to pick them up, and they couldn't find my order. They searched for about 45 minutes, and put me on the phone with their son because they couldn't communicate the issue, saying he'll try to find them, because they might still be at the facility where they are cleaned, or might be with another order. I get a call the next day saying they lost the clothes. So they lost about $300 worth of my clothes, including a dress that was on a final sale and I'll never be able to find again. They're only offering me $150. I'm just so tired and frustrated, so I accepted it. They gave me about half of what the value of the clothes were. I accepted it, because I didn't want to deal with this anymore. When I picked up the check, they had the nerve to tell me to come again. They said this never happens, but based on the other reviews, that doesn't seem to be the case. The fact that this was my first time going to them and this happens is horrible. read more

Courteous and quick. No complaints. They took good care of a wool suit and apparently they clean blankets, comforters, etc. which might be something folks are looking for as the weather gets colder. read more

Yes, they're really nice. And yes, they're pretty cheap. But... Took two dress shirts in and asked for them to be pressed--not laundered and pressed, just pressed. Got back two shirts that had been laundered and had giant purple stains on the chest. No mention of this when I picked up the shirts, but when I brought them back (after seeing the spots at home), the woman behind the counter told me that a few shirts had been ruined in their wash the week before. She did offer to give me some credit at the cleaner--up to half the price of the shirts. But not like I'm going to return once they've ruined two shirts... read more

I've had a lot of stuff altered here including 6 work shirts from companies I work for. I dont understand why these work shirts are always made for overly obese people. I usually wear a men's small and the length of the sleeve is like 3/4 down my arm. So I have to go for the medium and have them slim the body down and take in the arm so I dont look like a pilsbury dough boy. Anyways, the seamstress there did a perfect job. My shirts look well fitted and slim. I have also had them repatch a pair of pants and hem quite a few as well. Excellent job. I will keep going back for alterations. read more

I've had my pants altered several times at this spot, and each time it was a smooth transaction from beginning to the end. The store is small, and there is a tiny spot for you to change, so the lady (Lee) can measure you. She's very patient though, with a nice big smile. Prices are reasonable ($12ish for hemming), but make sure you plan a few days to pick it up, since they can get pretty busy. read more

They hemmed my wedding dress for $70, did a great job. Still happy with them!

I brought in an old bedcover that I loved that was fraying and had holes in it from lots of use. The seamstress split it into two without the damaged sections, and hemmed them up so I can use them on my kids' beds. Cost was a bit steep at $35, but ultimately if you want to keep your stuff in working condition and support a local business instead of buying more cheap stuff and contributing to landfills, I suggest you give this place a visit. read more

These people are terrible at alterations. Not only were the alterations a day late after a 4 day wait (they promised Tuesday at 5pm and they didn't have an update other than it wasn't ready), but when I checked the suit a month later the tear in the sleeve was NOT even done. This was a costly batch of alterations, all were late and one was not done correctly. I am truly disappointed in the place and will tell all my friends not to go here. read more

Mount Pleasant Cleaner - The tear I paid to have fixed, that was not. - Laundry Services Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

My jacket that hadn't been cleaned in way too long came out as good as new!

Beautifully tailored a leather skirt at a decent price!

Love this place. I walk out of the way to take my clothes here. So, so friendly and reasonably priced. Mostly though the clothes actually seem CLEAN and not like they werw just tossed in a dryer with some febreeze. read more

Was quoted $7 dry cleaning 1 pair mens dress pants while another location in the same block charges half.

Got a shirt back with new stains which weren't there when I took it in. They wouldn't do a refund as it had been 'too long since the service' ..... read more

Consistent, friendly, and relatively fast service. Only had one hiccup in the last year - a shirt that came back with starch all over the front. After taking it back to the shop, the owner graciously cleaned and repressed the shirt. Had suit pants hemmed here, they turned out nicely. Would recommend. read more

We went there to get a hole in a dress fixed and my husband had his pants hemmed. Not only did she add holes to my dress she messed up my husbands pants. In addition, she couldn't even discuss the issue because no English was spoken. I would not recommend this place under any circumstances. Terrible work, unable to communicate, and no ownership for mistakes. read more

I've been coming to this cleaner for several years since I moved to the area and I've had no issues or problems with cleanings or tailoring. They always greet with smile and try to make you comfortable. I take all of my clothes for tailoring here (dress shirts & suits) - the lady there is very friendly and her job is excellent!! I would recommend anybody to visit this place for tailoring job. read more

I really like this place, they've been great for hemming my pants (as a short guy, it's pretty much a given that I'll have to pay a "tailor tax" on all my pairs of pants). I've had about six pairs of pants hemmed there in the last month and the price seems reasonable to me. They also took care of resoling my Frye wingtips (I understand they mailed them out) and were able to rush them for me before I started a new job. About the review where his alternations were a day late: if you look at how many clothes are on their dry-cleaning racks, you will understand the volume of work they do. I get it, I need my clothes done when I need them, too. But I also appreciate that I can't do the work myself and that they're busy. I've been able to solve that just by calling ahead early in the day on the day I plan to pick them up. Sometimes they've even had my stuff ready a day early. It's small, including the dressing room, but fine. Happy to have it in the neighborhood! read more

I used to go here every week, but then I moved down the street. They are family owned, and they always did a great job, at a great pace.

I first discover this dry cleaner back in 2006 and to be honest they were fine at first then one day I bought a brand new jacket from filene's basement and since I hate wearing stuff that people tried before I brought them the jacket still with the tag on it I remember a dark blue navy type cotton. I told them to dry clean the jacket and sure enough I came back believe it or not I was pissed the jacket was clean but light blue. Therefore I reminded the little asian women over there that the jacket was brand new and that it was dark blue navy with the receipt in hand. Sure enough she started to mubble some english telling me that "good color, like that jacket good color" I try to make her understand what they did but she refused to reimburse me for the jacket, so I let the jacket on the counter and left the store. Finally , I went to buy the same exact jacket and came back to her store to show them what they did they were still denial. I did not want to suit in court for a $50 jacket but they sure lost my business. Just ignorant in doing business, I guess. read more
