I rarely give negative Yelp Reviews, but I want to spare the next person from what happened to me. I'll begin with this... The dry cleaning service in Columbia Plaza deserves no stars, but I am giving one for it to post on here.
I started coming here for basic dry cleaning services (dress shirts, blazer cleanings, etc.). However, I needed alterations done and decided to come here for some tailoring on blazers and a coat. When it came to one blazer (from Zara's) in particularly, I had asked for it to be taken in around the waist/mid-section. This is where it started going downhill. There is an asian woman (who I believe is the owner or manager) who is very sweet but not equipped for alterations. She pinned down the areas in which I wanted my blazers fitted then told me the tailor would come during the week to pick up the blazers. I felt uncomfortable with that because it's standard practice to have the tailor actually present during the pinning AND for the tailor to do the pinning. Their setup here is that the woman does the pinnings then has the tailor come in to pick it up. The tailor is never actually present during the consultation period which is ridiculous and unprofessional.
When I came back a week later, they did not do what I asked. In addition to paying an arm and a leg for the alterations, it felt as though they barely did much work to my other blazers (which I will be having done elsewhere). Moreover, I asked for the tailor to do the work again, and the owner/manager repeatedly told me that my blazer being still big in the mid-section is "the style" and that "they cannot take it in any further..." This was very upsetting because as a law student, I am on a budget financially and with time. She then said she would look into the tailor doing work on it again free of charge but before they proceed, they'd call me. They never called me and went ahead and did more work. I had to call to follow up. Note: I had dropped it off before Thanksgiving break, and I finally called to follow up after not hearing back in mid-December. The lady then tried to rationalize it by saying she didn't charge me for the second time. She shouldn't have charged me for the first time, and the second time still did not look good. All in all, I do not recommend. Be efficient and intentional about researching other areas particularly for alterations. Do not allow for this establishment to destroy your clothing. As far as dry cleaning services go, I will be going elsewhere from now on because I did not like how they dry cleaned a few of my jogger sets. read more
