I highly recommend this dry cleaner. Saul and the team at Swift are always friendly, helpful, and professional. I've taken everything from embroidered/formal dresses to wool winter coats, and I'm always pleased with the results. My clothes are returned without a trace of lint....or dog hair, which I know is time consuming to remove. The turnaround time is super short and they can clean things faster if you need something rushed. I'm happy to be able to support this fantastic local business. read more

We've used them for dry cleaning for years, great prices and great service. Recently, I went into swift cleaners to get some alterations on my wedding dress VERY last minute (7 days before my wedding). The staff were incredible helpful and promised a quick turn around. They had the dress ready over 24 hours before they said it would be. It was perfect and the alterations were so well done. The dress was perfectly pressed as well. I am so grateful to have them in my neighborhood! read more

Swift cleaners has been my go to since moving to the DC area. Their work, even on the most intricate pieces of clothes is bar none. The pricing is extremely fair comparative to other DC dry cleaners. The staff there is extremely kind and professional. If you want reliable dry cleaning and other alteration work done this is definitely your place. 10 out of 10 recommend. read more

Took two pants and a suit jacket to Swift Cleaners about a month ago, and they did a great job. Turnaround was quick, and they got out some tough stains, reinforced a button, and even fixed some stitching on my pants. On top of that, the price was reasonable--about $45--which is a win for a broke grad student. Solid service all around! read more

they said it would be done in a week- called and they tried pushing it off for 3 more days. I firmly told them I'm coming to get it- got my dress and all the stitches fell out. do not recommend. read more

Ruined a really expensive reformation wedding guest dress :( not sure if their dryers are too hot or what, but it shrunk it.

DO NOT recommend. Full details below but the short version: damaged dress shirts, poor communication, lack of full compensation for our troubles and damages. I've never had a problem with ANY dry cleaners, ever, not even the cheap place Zips in the suburbs, but our FIRST (and last) visit to this place turned into a catastrophe. First, we were informed my husband's favorite and nicest white dress shirt was damaged by ink. The would keep it and try to fix it with a special ink remover and get back to us. Allegedly the other items were OK. However, we got home and my husband found that another shirt of his had broken buttons and an ink spot, and a third shirt seemed to be tinted slightly pink. Neither shirt was totally unwearable, but definitely damaged. However, I had walked out with 8 items and not paid a dime, so we decided to just let it go instead of making a fuss. We figured the free dry cleaning made up for the troubles and damages. Then, a MONTH later, I went back for the white shirt. It still has ink spots on it, but I took it, again, thinking we weren't being charged anyway and it came out even. BUT THEN, I was charged $80!!!!! I complained to the manager and asked for a refund. He offered me a FIFTEEN DOLLAR CREDIT. I was floored. I said that wasn't adequate so he then offered me $8 of refund. I said I expected a full refund and he came back with $30 to compensate for the damaged white shirt. The shirt is worth probably about $50 (we don't have the receipt anymore), but I was fed up with the whole thing and took the $30. I wasn't going to leave a negative review, assuming we had had a freak experience, but now that we've been given damaged items AND poor customer service and lack of compensation, I feel the need to share this. We will be going to Georgetown Valet one block away instead from now on. read more

Quick and competent. Heavily stained suit came back with almost all the spots cleaned off.

Dan--I've met you, and you are amazing! However, you need to fire the front person who takes the orders. He is rude and entitled. Please for your business. I don't know why he has an attitude. I am dropping off shirts. He never said hello or thank you , and he didn't look at me when he handed me the receipt. Your company deserves better. read more

Very over priced. I asked them to fix a hole in a dress and the stitch job was absolutely horrible. (Picture below). I asked them to remove a stain, they charged me for stain removal, but the stain was still very much there (pictured below) and I found a new stain on a different garment I gave them. They also put very thick safety pins in delicate silk garments. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

This place is the worst customer experience I ever encountered. I intentionally came to this establishment to support local 17th street businesses. After I waited 20 mins in line to drop my clothes off, the cashier (small guy with errands/wearing headphones and a hat)was extremely rude, condescending, and treated me with ultimate disrespect. Completely ruined me and my partner's beautiful day. There's plenty of other options and I highly recommend to reconsider being a customer here. In addition, the place is extremely dirty, unkempt, and had a smell of iron pressed onions and puddle water read more

Quality tailoring, great customer service, fairly priced. As a petite woman I often have to take in or shorten my clothes and they are very honest about what can be done without compromising the integrity of the garment. They are very skilled and careful. They are also good at expediting alterations if needed. read more

There's a pandemic going on, things are chaotic, prices are increasing, I understand. But to secretly add charges and not tell your customer is another thing. I've been coming to this spot for several years. With the pandemic, I rarely go to the office so I don't bring in my button ups as much. I brought in 2 shirts early Thursday afternoon and asked if they could be done by Saturday, the guy said that would be an extra rush charge, so I said no thanks. Then he muttered that it's only a dollar extra and that I don't have to be cheap. I brushed off his comment. On Friday, I got an email saying that my dry cleaning was done. I opened the receipt and it showed I was charged $2 for a rush fee. I called to ask about it since I did not need it to be rushed. The guy immediately got super defensive saying how he didn't add it on but since I wanted my shirts starched it was an extra $1 per shirt. I told him I wasn't charged for starching a month ago and he said well this time it was for the starching fees. Thankfully, at the time, I took a screenshot of the receipt to ask Dan, the owner, because I went back to double check to write this review and the rush fee was MYSTERIOUSLY GONE; however, the charged amount was still the same. I get that times are tough...it's just $2. But if they're deceitfully adding on $1 per shirt for a basic button up dry cleaning that costs $4 per shirt, I wonder what other charges they're adding on to other garments and alternations. Also included a photo of the time they ripped my shirt and they got defensive and accused me of bringing in a ripped shirt. Anyways, it's more of a hassle to bring it to this place, than not to. Save your time and energy and go elsewhere. Dan, I'm not sure how often you're at the store these days, but your lack of constant presence and leadership is really affecting the customer service and quality your shop produces. read more

They always do a great job with laundry and dry cleaning and tailoring. Never had a problem with anything they did for me.

Been going to Swift's for over a year now, after the dry cleaner I was using closed due to covid. The staff is friendly and accommodating. My order is usually ready ahead of schedule to pick up. I have taken everything from shirts, dresses and coats to blankets and quilts to Swifts and everything is returned clean, fresh and pressed. I have also used their tailoring service for hems and repairs and that was good too. In fact...I am on my way there now to drop off and pick up! read more

Great dry cleaner. Staff is family and they usually deliver ahead of schedule. The shirts come out nice and pressed.

Without question, the WORST dry cleaner in all of DC. Arrogant. Standoffish. And cheats... charging their customers inconsistent prices for the same garment. When confronted with the question as to why the same shirt would be one price last week and 2.5 times that price this week, I was met with a "F@&k you!" I don't know ANY business that can survive throwing that kind of attitude. We will never be back. read more

I desperately needed a suit dry cleaned same day for an event. My normal dry cleaners couldn't help me as they send theirs out but Swift Cleaners have the machines etc and do it in house. The suit was clean and pressed and made me look great for my event!! read more

We've used them for years and have no complaints. Every week they clean and press my husband's work shirts, which look and smell pristine. He saves a ton of time he would have otherwise spent ironing. I've used them for numerous alterations. I am freakishly short, so stores never have my size. Pretty much every time I buy pants, I have Swift Cleaners shorten them for me, and they fit great after that. Staff are friendly and efficient, and they seem to know all their regulars by name. read more

Great service, they are quick, kind and always do a great job. I love that I can get texts when my laundry is ready so that I don't forget! They effectively removed an oil stain from a slip cover that I thought was doomed, truly magic and incredibly fast! read more

I dropped off a $1400 men's custom made suit for a one-day cleaning and received a suit with weird white/gray stains on the pants. I've used this place for the convenient one-day turnaround, but I can't continue to go there when this is what happens. read more

Swift cleaners is exceptional. Professional services, very clear communicators, and the owner is often there personally handling the business - it shows! Swift cleaners delivers great value. read more

They are great communicators and very responsible. Really appreciate the way they run their operation.

I used to be a frequent flyer here, but had one scare when they had trouble finding one of my items (which happened to be a piece I am quite sentimental about). After a little panicking, it was located. The service here is good and prompt, but the snafu compelled me to look at other providers in the neighborhood. Otherwise, I would recommend Swift Cleaners! read more

Avoid this place and take your clothing somewhere else. Unprofessional staff who instead of correcting the situation become defensive and turn rude. I came in to try and pick up my pants a day after the scheduled date they were supposed to be ready. Staffperson tells me "they're not ready" and "it's not my fault." I asked for an explanation since they gave themselves quite a bit of time to alter my pants. Tells me that maybe they'll be ready in four more days. That's almost 10 days for a pant's hem. I asked for my pants so I can take them to a different tailor. Staffperson tells me my pants aren't there. No offer of a discount, no apologies, just a helluva lot of attitude. Save yourself the headache and take your clothing somewhere else. read more

Having now been a patron of Swift for over 5 years, and having had a long run of great service, I wanted to update my review. Nobody and no cleaning service is perfect, but the kind people at Swift Cleaners earnestly try their best day in and day out. They do a great job with my dress shirts, let me know when a particular type of fabric needs special attention and have expertly cleaned some of my wife's more difficult garments (rain coats, etc.). If you're looking for a cleaners on the east side of Dupont, give Swift a try. read more

Not at all happy with job they did. Feel like they just don't care when they return shirts with spots It's so hot and humid (noAC)employees look like they are going to faint Shirts are damp from humid air I will not be going back read more

Im not sure if Swift refers to how swiftly they'll get your clothing back to you or how swiftly you'll realize this place is a P.O.S. After always waiting in lines for service and contemplating how they could ever keep track of the piles of clothes strewn about, the inevitable happened. They lost a shirt of mine, and had no idea what possibly could have happened to it; they did give me a $50 credit towards future cleaning (they offered cash too), which I took, but still was pissed. Id advise Dupont Cleaners across 17th Street; it's not nearly as jammed, and i have had no issues with their services. read more

Best cleaners in Dupont. In house cleaning and reliable customer service. Trusted with simple alterations.

I've been going to Swift Cleaners for two years and I have never had a complaint. I've never lost an article of clothing, they accommodate me if I need something fast, and they call me if one of my pants or shirts needs a repair. Everything you want in a dry cleaner. read more

I've used them for 4 years without incident. My shirts/suits always look great and they have never been late. Two thumbs up. One of the only dry cleaners left with their plant on-site. read more

I have two frustrating beefs with Swift Cleaners. First is that despite repeated requests to stop doing this, they continually press my (men's) button down shirts like a women's blouse - with the collar spread way out like a 1970s disco outfit. This happens even the shirt has a buttoned collar. Second is they are mutilating my buttons. Brand new shirts are needing buttons replaced (they're crumbling) after 5 or so trips to the cleaners. And these aren't cheap shirts. read more

They are my go-to cleaners. The staff are very friendly and they decently price their services ( however, I heard that it costs $4 to get a button on, which I think is a little high). They get my clothes clean and ready at a reasonable time. I've had some tough stains to get out and they've been great to get it out. I've had a few friends that get their clothes hemmed there and haven't had any complaints. read more

In contrast to the previous two, I've had no issues with Swift Cleaners. Here is a list of the things I've had done: Business Shirts (NS, Hanger) 2 piece Suits Ties Silk Curtains Winter coats (wool and down) Hems on Pants Sleeves shortened on business shirts They're great and the prices are about mid-range but not unreasonable. I've had all done with no issues whatsoever. read more

Swift cleaners is a wonderful neighborhood establishment. I have taken my clothes in only a couple of times, but each time I do, I'm treated very nicely, am charged reasonably, and always given the importance if I need a garment rushed out the door without hassle. This most recent time, I needed some alterations. The measurements were done thoroughly, and I felt comfortable with their prices compared to others in the area (~$14 for a hem). I'd recommend them time and again. read more

I just received word yesterday that the family who had been running this location has left. The lady who called to settle accounts said it had all become just too much to keep up with. "They were living to work rather than working to live." and decided they needed a change. My experience with Swift was both hit and miss. If I needed something ASAP, they would bend over backward to makesure it came through for me. They alway's seemed friendly and well intentioned but just a bit overwhelmed. I'll miss the friendly faces...though maybe my suit coat's won't have to, "Wait for the tailor to come fix a loose button", quite so often. I used to chuckle when I heard this because I knew it really meant....We're drowning in clothes and can't get them out fast enough. They did push an awful lot of volume through that tiny location. Edit: 9/03/2008 After the new owners took over Swift they suspended pickup service to our building. That said... they're simply not convenient enough for a better score. I've lowered my score accordingly and moved on to Soapy Joes who DOES pick up at out building. read more

I live across the street from Swift and have been going to them for a few months now. While they're a little pricey, they provide fast service and do a great job. I originally came to Swift cleaners to alter a bridesmaids dress after seeing all of the good reviews on yelp. Although a little pricier than I would want the service seems good and a job well done.
