The drinks and food are pretty amazing. I knocked off a star due to the ordering inconvenience. For being a pricey place it's a little bit of a pain to having to get up and walk to the bar anytime you want a cocktail especially since the bar is sually packed. I've tried the smash burger which I could definitely tell is made from great quality ingredients which justifies the price but it is a thin patty so choose wisely if you're really hungry. On another occasion I sat at the bar and had the pepperoni Pete which was incredible for a fancy pepperoni and for cocktails I had the hedge fund which isn't usually my style but I enjoyed it so much I had a second. It's on the sweeter side which is something I usually steer away from. I'll definitely be coming back to try more food and drinks! read more

Idk, Folks. Walked into this place for the first time today after hearing some decent reviews and cannot say I would recommend. Wouldn't advise you show up to this place when the sun goes down either. Walked in with high hopes and was met with two bartenders that looked like I just stepped on their dog's feet. They asked what we were thinking and I mentioned this was our first time there and earned another disgusting look. Because this is a brewery, I'd give it five stars for just the beer alone. It was amazing - a couple dozen different options, and each one we tried had a great aroma, taste, texture, and unique concept. There is an emphasis on Belgian styles but it's definitely not the only thing. I can't remember having beer this good, but I may be biased towards fancy. The food was great! The pizza reminded me very strongly of New Haven style. Got mac and cheese too; it was creamy and not too filling. The interior is hip, airy, and restrained in the way of third-wave coffeehouses, giving that comfortable feeling that it's light and casually welcoming but just a little bit shabby from decades of urban renewal. It's counter-service for the food and beer is only ordered at the bar. But for that, it's a good setup because the two are separate areas. There are cute little touches, such as the self-service water "tap" for the dehydrated. The only downside seems to be that it's usually crowded due to popularity. Parking is not ample, and it's packed every day they're open. Great place if you can squeeze in there! read more

Fantastic beer and food. I got an excellent IPA but also got a taste of a Belgian strong blonde ale (Duvel clone) that was true to the style. My wife loved her imperial stout. All this food was good: * cheese pizza, mushroom pizza * dry bbq wings * fall Caesar - this was excellent, with green beans and Brussels sprouts in place of the lettuce It's tray and pay. Oof service is LACKING. We went mid Saturday when it was busy, but nothing crazy. The bartender was rude and seemed bothered that we had never been there and weren't familiar with the menu and types of beers offered. She didn't offer any guidance whatsoever. It looks like it is going to be a huge space, so very much looking forward to them opening that up. I wanted to try one of the first batches and got a 4 pack of Moon of Faith, which they describe as an Apricot IPA. Hip craft brewer - interesting beer selection and of great quality - not just a bunch of IPA's - good variety. The interior dining room is very nicely designed - but can be loud when crowded; fortunately there is nice ample outdoor seating as well. What was even more surprising was the impressive food options. We were a party of 5 and everyone loved everything. Pizza is great - if you're a flat pizza lover. Service was swift and friendly - though you go to the bar or kitchen yourself to place your order so you can kind of drink and drink dine at your own pace. This place was incredible! My friends have been telling me to visit this place for a while now and I'm glad I finally got around to it. My husband had the "Wyvern" IPA and said it was great. Two of my dishes were specials so I don't have the names (the pizza and the salad) but they were both amazing! The smoked maple Buffalo wings had an incredible flavor and the chicken was cooked incredibly! I loved the fried chicken sandwich! The crispy-ness of the sandwich was on point! Tucked off Monroe Avenue in Rochester is this fresh and fun brewery. We were immediately greeted by staff and had their menu and setup explained to us. The beer list is unique and there is something for everyone, including those who prefer spirits, wine, or even a "mock"tail! We didn't love the flights, but it was fun to try something new. I would definitely suggest the rib nuggets as an appetizer and the burger looked delicious. My pizza was floppy, the pepperoni was cold, and flavor was lacking. It's spacious, but not in the sense that you feel you get lost in the space and concept. Ordered the pepperoni pizza (which was excellent) and a few barrel-aged beers. Love this place! Great beer, great food, great vibe! My friends and I have been a few times since they opened and we are never disappointed! My one complaint is the lack of designated place at the bar to order a drink. When it's crowded and everyone is packed around the bar, getting a drink can take a while. I wish they'd sacrifice two bar seats and place an Order Here sign so folks could line up and order a drink. It's uncomfortable to try to sneak in between people seated at the bar and flag down the bar tender to place an order. It's alright went there with high expectations and was disappointed due to various reasons: prices were very high for small portions and decent ingredients, beer was overpriced and just there. Place thinks too highly over them self and really lost the drive to be number. Also saw them tell people with dogs who were sitting outside to leave immediately. 45 mins later we witnessed 2 large arguments with guests and no one said anything to them. We went to check out Strangebird and we loved it!! The beers are so good and their is such a wide variety to choose from. The Wyvern and Spacesaver are my favorites--my hubby likes the Russian Bear Fight and any of the Pillowheads. We got the cheese pizza, the sausage pizza, the shaved salad, broccolini salad, buffalo maple wings, and black garlic wings. The wood fired pizzas were great--crispy on the edges & great flavor to the dough and sauce. The wings were also awesome-hot and crispy--perfection. The shaved salad was my favorite--turmeric dressing was on point and it had granola on it -- I never had a salad like that before and will def be back and order it again. Exceptional tasting food! We ordered take out that was ready exactly at the time quoted in the confirmation. Our party ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwiches, Mash Patty Burger, and the Shaved vegetable salad with beef patty. Additionally one of us ordered the upcharged herb fries with their meal that was highly worth it. The kale in the salad could have used chopping, but the sweet granola dust/crumble was a good balance with kale, the dressing, and the pickled vegetable. The mashed patty was well seasoned. The regular fries were potentially too salty for those who do not appreciate a lot of salt on your fries. When I ended to pick up, the place was crowded, yet not spacious to move through to get to the order counter or pick up spot. It should no longer surprise me that the most unassuming places in town have the best food, Strangebird is no exception. The menu is short but who cares when it is so well conceived and executed. The beer is wonderfully crafted with an ample selection. The service is fast, mindful and thorough even though it is ostensibly counter order. It can become loud and acoustics aren't terrific inside, but that's what it is...Rochester and the Finger Lakes region are not places where any sort of refined restaurants have been able to take root and deliver....BUT ...it is an area where those who understand the craftsmanship of farm to table and libations can flourish and Strangebird is no exception.
