The crabcakes I ordered were freezer burnt. Walking back to the bathroom the floor was soaking wet and there was no warning sign that they normally put out when floor is wet. Plus, I seen off to the side was a storage area with a door, but it was blocked by a lawnmower and a pile of trash.. the restroom had an overflowing trash bin. There was water everywhere no towels in the towel dispenser. They were either broke or nobody cared to replace or fix them. Went there for a lunch of sorts with a friend and we just shared a bunch of appetizers. The place is small inside and there is writing everywhere It's rather odd. Also not in the menu but when you get a bill the seafood options are handwritten in chalk what they are and depending on what you get the price goes up. It's odd and confusing. We order the chicken strip basket. Fries were well seasoned but the chicken was overcooked and not juicy. I def recommend their garlic bread with crab topping. Wow this came out piping hot and very buttery and tasty. Also got a side a gator bites. Def overcooked. Which is to bad cause gator can be amazing. Needed lots of salt due to lack of flavor. Went with some family at 5pm on a Thursday. Only 3-4 tables were filled. Others in our party had been before but my first time. Food order messed up; they forgot my wife's plate. She had to walk and find the waitress who said " oh yeah they didn't make it". Never told us. Food was very good. $300 for 5 adults, no drinks. But if you thought the service couldn't get any worse, when went to pay, waitress rolled her eyes like it wasn't her job and proceeded to have a conversation ignoring us. Great service and food! At first I was skeptical, it's a little pricey but the seafood boil is very good.

The seafood boil NEVER disappoints. The food is so flavorful and it is quality. I have never been inside so i wouldn't know what the ambiance is but i have heard that it is overall a fun experience seeing that you get a bib and gloves with your meal, so get ready to get messy!. It is a bit pricey but overall worth it seeing what you get. I have been here 4 times so far and only once was I disappointed . I was shorted a pound of crawfish, realized it when i got home and had to turn around and drive back to pick it up. I'm going with 5 stars because this place is FUN, it's a unique dinning experience and the seafood was very tasty. I didn't like the mess as you use your hands to pretty much eat everything. Everything is coated in a butter sauce...which I love the taste...but it's messy. I felt naked without plates and utensils. I was very disappointed in the young hostess as she was more interested in what was happening on her phone than greeting us and making us feel welcome. Our waitress did an adequate job at taking & serving the order and refills. She just didn't do much to help the FuN be even more FUN. On to the food: the meal comes with seafood bread. The bread was baked crispy with a slight amount of cheese and seafood additives. It was okay. The edges of the bread were crispy. It was a good & light start to the meal. We ordered the fried okra and hush puppies for starters. The hush puppies were a beautiful golden color. They were about the size of a quarter, not overly greasy and sweet to taste. It came with a sriracha Mayo style sauce. It didn't have much zip or flavor to add. The hush puppies were good without it. I love fried okra because no one serves it. The pieces were also relatively small. The breading was thin but sufficient. Not too greasy. Not a heavy corn meal taste like you find at some places. The okra tasted fresh though I'm sure it was frozen at some point. I wished the pieces were bigger to get more of the okra taste. The ranch style sauce it came with was also just kinda there. It didn't have a ranch zip either and didn't add much to the okra. Both are good appetizers to try! We had the #2 seafood boil. We selected the garlic & old bay butter mix - yes you can do both. This was a good choice as it gave us both flavors which would dominate your taste for the next hour. We went with the mild spice. This was low enough that I really couldn't detect any spice through the butter. I would try more spice next time. The clams were small but easy to eat. They did give you a fork to remove the clan with. I was surprised they didn't provide a lobster fork as well. Overall the clams weren't much to rave about. Small but fresh and tasty. The shrimp were fairly large and nicely cooked. Not too soft...just enough to make removing the shell...with the fork...easy enough. Again a nice fresh taste. The crab legs were large and meaty. They were cooked soft enough to make the meat extraction easy. The butter really accented the dish here. We didn't order dessert. It was my birthday. They offered to sing but I said no thank you - nice touch to offer. The peppermint ice cream was a great way to cut through the butter taste and top off the meal. Overall I really like the Storming Crab. It is a bit expensive as you would expect for seafood. However I wouldn't let that stop you for a unique dinning experience every once and a while. read more

Well, I was here last evening and I was not impressed. I hate to say that l, but I wasn't. I had a petty of 8. 4 people opted for menu items and the other 4 had a boil. I don't want to get ahead of myself so I'll start from the beginning. 1. Easy access off Coliseum Blvd. Clean and clear parking with plenty of space. 2. A hostess greets and seats you at the door. 3. The location was clean and in my opinion had a nice size crowd. 4. Since we had a petty of 8, a 18% gratuity was auto added to the bill. We all opted for different menu items. The 4 with the boil enjoyed it thoroughly. The 4 with entrees were underwhelmed. The crab cakes, which is what I had were good. Not the best I've ever had, it certainly good. I wouldn't get them again, but they were ok. The crawfish etoufee was more rice than soup, it did have great flavor. The fried catfish was excellent and the gumbo was edible. The 4 of us who didn't do the boil, each shared the various 4 other options. My only real issue is, the boils were served about 22 minutes after the other 4 dishes arrived. So, we all didn't really eat together, which defeats the purposes of having dinner as a group. That made for a long and boring table setting. read more

We typically go to a different place in Fort Wayne for our crab boil cravings, but they have closed temporarily so in the meantime we decided to go to Storming Crab. Immediately upon arrival at 8:51, they told us the kitchen would be closing in 9 minutes. We thought they closed at 9:30, so we were surprised by this. Then, the host sat us at a dirty booth and said she would come back to clean it off. She did not, we were left standing in the corner until a server eventually came and replaced the paper on our table and wiped it off. At this point, we only had 5 minutes to order. The server came back and told us the system was down BUT we could still order, they were just having trouble checking other guests out. We immediately gave the server our order, he brought out our waters and left for about 10 minutes. He came back with a to-go container with bread and told us the manager wouldn't be in for another 15 minutes to fix the system, so our order was cancelled and we couldn't dine in. She was very kind we loved our experience there not just because of the food but because of her drive to make sure we enjoy every moment. However this past weekend we had a another lady & her service wasn't the best asked for a another beer an never got an by the time she remembered i was ready to just get my bill , she didn't tell us there was a service tip before us paying ! My husband and my parents in law stopped in this past weekend with the kiddos. We had the best experience we could've asked for. There were nine of us. The reason this experience was so different and amazing was due to the service we received. I believe her name was kaitlyn, but I'm not positive. She has tattoos on her arms. The last time we came in was around June 2023, I remember it so vividly because when we dined in with our party we received a service fee and the service was terrible and our family wasn't even told about it. This time around, kaitlyn did not add a service fee, and she was the best server we ever had !!! We tipped her DOUBLE! We had young kids with us, kaitlyn brought out oranges, strawberries, and crackers for the kids. She interacted so well with them, we never went without ANYTHING. This was my first time eating a "Storming Crab" restaurant and I didn't know what to expect. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was nice. You could smell the food which instantly made me excited. Customer Service: The person at the front who was taking to go orders was nice. Food ordered: Two ordered of soft shell crabs. Since this was my first time trying soft shell crab I was excited but yet nervous. Upon eating them I notice I couldn't taste the meat because the batter was so thick. I was disappointed that I couldn't taste the crab meat. I understand this may have been a mistake but for $20+ and four crabs, I wish it tasted better. We ordered takeout since it was late. My son and I wanted to try something different. A couple of months ago we tried crawfish and liked them; so now decided to try crab. I was impressed because they double bagged our order. The staff was very nice and approachable, and the service was quick! The crab was delicious and the butter sauce was amazing! I will definitely come back to try other things off there menu. The restaurant is small, but it's very inviting and the walls are all autographed by people who have visited the restaurant. Ok, so let me preface this by saying that I very rarely rate anything 5 stars, but this place was amazing! My wife and I were hungry and I found this on Yelp as we were passing through town and we decided to stop here. We had an amazing time here. I can't remember the last time we both laughed so hard and enjoyed the fun and energetic atmosphere that a restaurant had. If I had to describe Storming Crab in one word it would be, FUN. After we left, one of the only things we could talk about is when we were going to come back. From the bibs and gloves to the (encouraged) writing on just about every available surface by both customers and staff alike; this place exudes fun in just about every way possible! Someone behind us had a birthday and like a lot of places, the staff came to sing to them. You could tell that the staff here legitimately had fun though. One staff member wore a t-rex mask (yeah you read that right). If you're looking for an environment to be silly and have a blast in, this is the place for you. Now to the food; oh my goodness the food. It was delicious! We started out with a complimentary seafood garlic cheese bread which was, as you can imagine, perfect in every single way. We then got an appetizer of hushpuppies. They were perfectly done with the perfect season inside. The hushpuppies were served with a house sauce on the side which had a slightly spicy and creamy flavor. It complemented the hushpuppies very well. For our main course we got the #2 which includes crab, shrimp, clams, sausage, potatoes, and corn. We opted to get ours in the garlic butter sauce. What more can I say about that, you can't go wrong with any of those things. Everything was cooked to perfection. They didn't skimp on the crab either, like some places (cough cough Red Lobster cough cough). Our dish had the thickest crab meat I've ever seen in my life! The real winner of tonight's meal though was our waitress Jenna M. Never in all of our travels or any restaurant we have ever been to in our combined lives have we ever had such incredible service. We have eaten everywhere from McDonalds to Michelin Star restaurants and nobody has ever even come close to the level of customer service that Jenna showed us. She was so very friendly and personable; it really made the experience 100x better. I 100% recommend trying Storming Crab, you will not regret it. I can't wait to go back. read more

I was first told we were allowed to have our sauces mixed and then 5 minutes later told we weren't... so I'm not sure which part is true. I think the combos are a good deal. The atmosphere is very casual and family friendly. This isn't our usual date night type atmosphere but I actually enjoyed it. They currently don't have their liquor license so it was beer only but I was fine with that (my husband would've preferred a mixed drink however). We got the hush puppies and fried gator for our appetizer. The hush puppies weren't anything special. The gator however was decent. My husband loved them. I thought they came with an odd aftertaste at times but they were still decent. Cajun fries that come with were ok as well. For our boil, we got the combo #5 but substituted some things out so ended up with king crab, shrimp, and clams. We got the cajun spices and super hot for the heat. The boil was delicious! The portions are insane. My husband and I split the combo and we still had tons leftover. The experience of eating with a bib and gloves is pretty fun, unique...and totally necessary. Don't come here unless you're ready to perhaps get a little messy! (Probably not 1st date approved haha). The only lackluster part of the experience was our service. We got there early at 4:50pm and our service was still slow. Despite my husband telling our server it was my birthday, nothing special was done (which he told us there would be?). My husband had to flag our server down for refills on multiple occasions. It could definitely have been better. Our server seemed a bit short with us as well. Overall it was good. Even though some of the food is average, the main dish (the boils) are delicious and the whole experience is unique which sets it apart from your usual fort wayne dining experience.
