So we walked in the door and the host made us wait to be sat about 5 min while he finished up what he did, no problem. We got sat and waited for our server. After almost ten min she ran by to tell us that she would be back and if she could take out drink order really quick. Since we didn't know what they had besides the water the host already poured, she presided to brush us off to say she'd be back after she delivered some salads not telling us anything. After looking over the menu for a handful of min and watching her greet her other tables she finally came over with the same question.... what do you want (essentially). We asked about drinks and what some of the menu items were. She was very short and unpersonable. She didn't tell us any of the daily specials, we had to pull her back to ask about soups since we had over heard another server telling his table about them. After I grabbed her another time for full size waters she seemed to get better Our food came out pretty fast. Everything was... basically what I expected. I ordered the chicken Kiev with onion rings and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese just tasted like noodles, I couldn't taste the cheese, and the chicken was good except it needed salt on the chicken, but since it was fried it was to late to season the meat. A friend got the smothered sirloin which she enjoyed, but she didn't like the sweet potatoes which were mashed. My sister ordered the fish she liked and the potatoes which has jalapeños in the sauce so it was spicy. All in all once we got our food things went a lot smoother and more enjoyable experience. read more

Atmosphere with music is nice. Bread was microwave warmed and did not taste fresh. I only took 1 bite. Prime rib is always excellent. This location doesn't have garlic mashed potatoes like other higher end halls they only have baked potatoes. This was my first time eating at Triangle Park, but it was fantastic. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, and it is a great location for a nice dinner. The back windows of the restaurant look out onto a big pond! Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food, and he was very nice. I've gone here for years. In the early years this was a great family place to dine on Sundays. Feeding the ducks bread from the deck on a warm was fun. Now days I go here for business lunches only. The crowd is decidedly older. The facility is the same - well kept and comfortable. The staff is always accommodating - I'm not sure that I can say friendly. They just take care of you. The lunch food is very good. The cobb salad is good. All the sandwiches...from the prime rib to Rueben to fish sandwiches are done well. The onion rings are good too. Overall...I'd go here for lunch. It's not too crowded and you will be served well. They can handle larger lunch groups pretty well since it's not too crowed. I'm not sure that I would go here dinner. JMHO. read more

Had a Mother's Day lunch with family this weekend. We made reservations for 11:30. The restaurant wasn't very busy at that time but became busier throughout our lunch. I ordered the bbq burger with onion rings. The burger was cooked medium-well and still had plenty of flavor! I wish the bun had more onion on top like the bottom bun. My husband ordered the prime rib sandwich. It was a piece of prime rib on a piece of bread. Not necessarily a sandwich and didn't come out looking too pretty but was still quite tasty! I love don halls. They never disappoint. This is my second favorite one to go to. I just love that deck and the music they play during the weekends. The atmosphere is always light hearted and very easy going. Their menu is a good size the service is usually spot on. This time I decided to go for the Ruben sandwich and it was ok. Not as good as their burgers or salads. One of the people in my part order a fish and it was seasoned really good and prepared medium like she wanted. The portions are average and fair priced. This time tho we had slow service, had to ask for everything and then waited a long Time For the check. One thing that ends your trip with a smile Is the chocolate mints they have in an older gum ball machine. It's the best little token one could get when leaving. read more

Don't mistake character for just being old, outdated, and in serious need of an update. We were here on a Friday night to hopefully enjoy a nice meal in the bar area. The lighting and ambience is fine and it was easy to enjoy talking - which is about where the best part of the experience ended. I ordered the cod, my partner order the Chicken Kiev and others ordered the stir-fry chicken. Dinners come with a choice of two sides and the table was also served bread. Oh my...where to start. The bread was dry and not very good, but we tacked that up to being there a little earlier in the evening. When we reordered bread thinking it might be a little fresher, the waitress brought it on a plate and just plopped it on the top of the basket. The caesar salad was OK, but the croutons were really greasy and had an off taste. The greek salad was also good and was probably the one highlight of the meal. The Chicken Kiev was alright but the serving size was pretty small. The fish was not good. The piece that was served was big and was cooked fine, but it had a distinct sour taste to it. Now I have eaten plenty of fish and this taste was either because it wasn't cooked from fresh or it was spoiled as no other food was on the plate but the fish. The clam chowder was basically flavorless and had more potato cubes than clam. There were also several pieces of clam that were gritty while chewing. The stir fry was cooked right, but the pieces of chicken were too big and the portion size was on the smallish size. Overall besides the greek salad about the best thing about the overall meal was the side of french fries which were served hot and right out of the fryer. The service was overall disappointing. The waitress never smiled, was short with her responses, and really didn't want to be there. After we stayed a little after our meal she became almost surly and at one point in time she sarcastically asked if we wanted our drinks refreshed. The icing on the cake was when we were leaving she was talking with the hostesses who mentioned that things were a little slow, and our waitress within earshot of us and another large party coming in mentioned "ya and I love working for free." This restaurant has been here forever and it is not a place that we will probably return to in the near future. There are too many other local places that have a greater attention to detail, have people working at them that do not have a negative attitude, and strive to serve freshly prepared and good tasting food. read more

On the top of Hall's dining, is the Triangle Park. Featuring a larger selection of seafood entrees than any of the other locations, they offer a wide selection of steaks and chicken as well. They have a decent number of seats outside on their deck which is perched over a large pond with fountains, ducks, and the occasional swan. Truly a unique place for a date or get together. The food is always top quality, but if you do have any problems, the polite staff will be happy to make it right with you. Their Dress is casual, but it is an environment where you would feel more comfortable in a collared shirt. They do offer a full bar, and in their lounge area, they feature live performances from local musicians on the weekends. A couple tips to enhance your experience: -Reservations are only allowed if you have 8 or more people, but you can call within an hour before you leave, you can be put on the waiting list if there is one. (Normally only on special holidays.) -Is it the birthday of someone in your party? Anniversary? Let them know and they will present you with a cake. read more

This place is hit or miss but generally a miss. Everytime I order the prime rib I ask that it be med well (a little pink) I have to send it back several times before it's right and by them my husband is done eating. Take out is horrible! I have brought my food home to discover I have half prime rib and half a another cut of meat, forgotten salad, forgotten potato and let's not forget the bleeding prim rib that should have been med well. I was there again tonight with a few friends. The last time I was there in May the prime rib was horrible! Took it back 3 times. I ordered rare, it was brown and cold in the center as if it just came out of the refrigerator. I finally ordered a filet. Tonight, my friends wanted to go there. We all ordered the prime rib med rare. That was refigerator cold in the center again. I asked the manager if they cooked it the night before, and she said....no, we cooked this tonight. Short of me calling her a liar I told her I disagree. I got the ribeye after that, and it was only 3/8" thick. It wasn't impressive, and I only ate 1/2 of it. I'll stick to a real steak house like Texas Roadhouse, or Longhorn from now on. The only reason it gets a 1 star is because there isn't a no star. Triangle Park is a unique dinning experience . The setting around a wooded area with a pond complete with Swans lends a relaxing atmosphere. The wait staff is excellent . The food is superb. The menu covers all the prime cuts of beef and chicken dishes. Seafood is a great option here with a diverse menu . The full bar will please even the most knowledgeable of Drink Mixologists. I ordered Mahi Mahi and it came served with (and I kid you not) a small ice cream scoop's worth of butter just sitting on the top of it. Need I say more? Just in case you do, my girlfriend's sirloin that she ordered medium rare tasted like it had been microwaved for 15 minutes. At least it was warm. The carpet is from the 90's, might be becoming a bit of a health hazard by now. Lack luster service that I will let slide because it was one hour before they were closing, but it definitely wasn't up to par regardless. I really wanted to like this place because of it's location and it has a great patio. I was optimistic that this could very well become a summer spot for me and the girlfriend, but I would gladly walk up hill both ways to a better alternative. read more

Went here for lunch on a Friday with my dad. He had the special of the day, some kind of fish w/ crab on it with a green bean vegtable mix. He enjoyed his meal. I had the turkey club on marble rye. It was was Exactly what I was craving. The bread wasn't too thick, there was plenty of lettuce and tomato, the bacon was crispy. I was in pregnant-lady-craving-fullfillment-heaven. Very impressed with this restaurant. I heard from a lot of locals that if you visit Fort Wayne you have to try the Triangle Grill and I'm glad I did! I had the Prime Rib and Lobster and it was fabulous. The prime rib was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the lobster was fresh and succulent. The atmosphere is a step back in time and the people are a pleasant and kind. Well worth the time and money! I truly don't understand why people still eat here. I mean, I know most of the customers are senior citizens, but since the management changed and the senior discount has been obliterated, maybe they'll break with tradition long enough to find a new place to hang with some decent food? Also, if you look at the menu, you'll notice a violent price hike, coupled with basically no improvement in the offerings whatsoever. So, Hall's Triangle Park has gone from offering mediocre food for mediocre prices to offering substandard food for middling quality steakhouse prices.... I'm not a fan of Hall's restaurants in general. I've had several bad experiences at them, and I feel like they have a hugely overblown reputation in Fort Wayne for being good when they are mostly just mediocre and they rely on people who live here to not know that we should expect better. The best thing is the spinach and artichoke dip, and it is merely okay. If you order beef or chicken, it will likely be severely dry and overcooked. The salads don't approach any acceptable level of freshness or flavor. The service ranges from bad to awful, depending on luck of the draw. Orders are frequently presented not as ordered, and can be sent back, only to show up at your table wrong several more times. At no point does a manager show up to make things right. And, good luck getting a timely drink refill, or even so much as an apology for your messed-up order. The atmosphere is... dated and depressing. The main draw is that you get to feed the ducks. Guess what? You can do that at one of Fort Wayne's many parks... for free! You don't have to pay Don Hall's company for disgusting food and poor service to feed some ducks, people. read more

Our whole family loves this place, from the 2 year old to great grandma - the prime rib is wonderful, and the bread is great. Great, professional service. Ordered an appetizer of Irish Nachos. Just French fries with shredded cheddar, scallions, bacon with ranch on the side. Have had Irish nachos at other bars and it was missing toppings. It did not taste special, just greasy. Got carrot cake for dessert and I was sad Hall's has changed it's recipe. There are no nuts or pineapple in this cake. My husband was happy with his Greek salad, fish sandwich and German chocolate cake. read more

Went here because I was craving a Big Buster and Hall's onion rings. Well, they have "Buster Style" burger - a single burger with the special sauce and lettuce. Not nearly as good as the original buster. Ordered it in a basket with onion rings for $7.49. I got exactly 4 onion rings. They were dry and chewy. Very disappointed. read more

I have been to this restaurant many times over the years. Unfortunately, each time has been a little sadder. I know that the economy has affected all restaurants, and you have to cut back somehow, but it just seems like the cutbacks are more noticeable at this restaurant. Not to fault the server, but services was extremely slow. I say it's not the server's fault because she had, like, 7 tables. Cut backs on staff. Also, we ordered the BBQ shrimp appetizer. The size was nice, but no shrimp taste at all. Only BBQ sauce - tons of BBQ sauce - what are they hiding? I ordered the almond crusted walleye. There were very few almonds - perhaps this is normal, but I expected a crunchy coating of crushed almonds. It was a nice size piece, but was devoid of flavor and I found a bone - I know this can happen with fish. Also - I remember when you used to get this heavenly basket of bread and muffins and rolls. There were 3 of us in our party and we got 3 SLICES OF BREAD. I don't eat bread, but my husband and son eat bread. We felt guilty for ordering more. Please bring back the assortment - it was wonderful and that alone would bring me back to this restaurant. There was nothing terrible about this place, just nothing special enough to bring me back. Recently found out that this place was under new management. New menus and new prices. Really offended at Hall's management. The majority of the customers in there are elderly folk and how rude of Halls to up the prices and fancy their menu up like that. The waitress told us that the senior discounted steak is still $17!!! What?! Took the hostess 10-15 minutes to seat us because she was taking carry out orders. 15 minutes... Was the entire city of Fort Wayne ordering? We then put our own table together outside and was treated by a lovely server. The food was bland and Hall's is really trying to sell all of their classic entrees for $4-$10 more expensive! I'm sorry but people do not come to triangle park for "cork n cleaver priced food". People don't want to eat a buster style burger for $10 when they can get it for $2.45 at Halls on East State. We've never ever ever had issues with Halls food in almost 20+ years And the prime rib was overlooked and cold and everyone's food tasted bland. A disappointing lunch. Service was very slow. My Reuben was average while the onion rings were deep fried in what tasted like oil needing changed. Wife had the taco salad at the servers recommendation. After digging around in the taco salad the lettuce was found to be brown in numerous places and very brown in others. That along with stale/ broken chips and room temperature meat made her meal inedible. After reading all the other reviews we want to give the place another shot but this visit will make that difficult. read more

First of all, I have been here several times, but this evening was by far the worst experience I have had at a Hall's restaurant. Husband's prime rib was cold (along with a large piece of fat attached to it). Couldn't find waiter any where. Finally got attention of another server, and he took back prime rib. When it was brought back to table, basically same piece of meat which had been put in micro wave. Very unacceptable. Asked to speak to manager, she came to table but acted as if we were bothering her. She did take dinner off bill, but was just not happy at all with experience this evening.
