    Crab topped garlic bread
    Danielle C.

Went there for a lunch of sorts with a friend and we just shared a bunch of appetizers. The place is small inside and there is writing everywhere It's rather odd. Also not in the menu but when you get a bill the seafood options are handwritten in chalk what they are and depending on what you get the price goes up. It's odd and confusing. We order the chicken strip basket. Fries were well seasoned but the chicken was overcooked and not juicy. I def recommend their garlic bread with crab topping. Wow this came out piping hot and very buttery and tasty. Also got a side a gator bites. Def overcooked. Which is to bad cause gator can be amazing. Needed lots of salt due to lack of flavor. Prices were ok. We got those three items and it was about $20. Staff was ok friendly. She wasn't very happy we weren't spending $30 min in a boil each. If you love spending the money on the seafood boils then go for it. I'm assuming g the seafood isnt over cooked. Large parties def take up a lot of table space. Inside is small and not very roomy. It's a chain place to eat but worth trying once.

Went with some family at 5pm on a Thursday. Only 3-4 tables were filled. Others in our party had been before but my first time. Food order messed up; they forgot my wife's plate. She had to walk and find the waitress who said " oh yeah they didn't make it". Never told us. Food was very good. $300 for 5 adults, no drinks. But if you thought the service couldn't get any worse, when went to pay, waitress rolled her eyes like it wasn't her job and proceeded to have a conversation ignoring us. And oh, one more, one of the servers was sitting behind the bar stuffing her face with a sandwich that she kept on the bartender side. Yuck. So, food good. Staff horrible. Management no where in site. I'll give the place another 2 years before they fold.

The seafood boil NEVER disappoints. The food is so flavorful and it is quality. I have never been inside so i wouldn't know what the ambiance is but i have heard that it is overall a fun experience seeing that you get a bib and gloves with your meal, so get ready to get messy!. It is a bit pricey but overall worth it seeing what you get. I have been here 4 times so far and only once was I disappointed . I was shorted a pound of crawfish, realized it when i got home and had to turn around and drive back to pick it up. They gave me some cheesy crab bread on the house that almost made the drive back worth it. If you like seafood i highly recommend you give this place a try!

I'm going with 5 stars because this place is FUN, it's a unique dinning experience and the seafood was very tasty. I didn't like the mess as you use your hands to pretty much eat everything. Everything is coated in a butter sauce...which I love the taste...but it's messy. I felt naked without plates and utensils. I was very disappointed in the young hostess as she was more interested in what was happening on her phone than greeting us and making us feel welcome. Our waitress did an adequate job at taking & serving the order and refills. She just didn't do much to help the FuN be even more FUN. On to the food: the meal comes with seafood bread. The bread was baked crispy with a slight amount of cheese and seafood additives. It was okay. The edges of the bread were crispy. It was a good & light start to the meal. We ordered the fried okra and hush puppies for starters. The hush puppies were a beautiful golden color. They were about the size of a quarter, not overly greasy and sweet to taste. It came with a sriracha Mayo style sauce. It didn't have much zip or flavor to add. The hush puppies were good without it. I love fried okra because no one serves it. The pieces were also relatively small. The breading was thin but sufficient. Not too greasy. Not a heavy corn meal taste like you find at some places. The okra tasted fresh though I'm sure it was frozen at some point. I wished the pieces were bigger to get more of the okra taste. The ranch style sauce it came with was also just kinda there. It didn't have a ranch zip either and didn't add much to the okra. Both are good appetizers to try! We had the #2 seafood boil. We selected the garlic & old bay butter mix - yes you can do both. This was a good choice as it gave us both flavors which would dominate your taste for the next hour. We went with the mild spice. This was low enough that I really couldn't detect any spice through the butter. I would try more spice next time. The clams were small but easy to eat. They did give you a fork to remove the clan with. I was surprised they didn't provide a lobster fork as well. Overall the clams weren't much to rave about. Small but fresh and tasty. The shrimp were fairly large and nicely cooked. Not too soft...just enough to make removing the shell...with the fork...easy enough. Again a nice fresh taste. The crab legs were large and meaty. They were cooked soft enough to make the meat extraction easy. The butter really accented the dish here. We didn't order dessert. It was my birthday. They offered to sing but I said no thank you - nice touch to offer. The peppermint ice cream was a great way to cut through the butter taste and top off the meal. Overall I really like the Storming Crab. It is a bit expensive as you would expect for seafood. However I wouldn't let that stop you for a unique dinning experience every once and a while.

Well, I was here last evening and I was not impressed. I hate to say that l, but I wasn't. I had a petty of 8. 4 people opted for menu items and the other 4 had a boil. I don't want to get ahead of myself so I'll start from the beginning. 1. Easy access off Coliseum Blvd. Clean and clear parking with plenty of space. 2. A hostess greets and seats you at the door. 3. The location was clean and in my opinion had a nice size crowd. 4. Since we had a petty of 8, a 18% gratuity was auto added to the bill. We all opted for different menu items. The 4 with the boil enjoyed it thoroughly. The 4 with entrees were underwhelmed. The crab cakes, which is what I had were good. Not the best I've ever had, it certainly good. I wouldn't get them again, but they were ok. The crawfish etoufee was more rice than soup, it did have great flavor. The fried catfish was excellent and the gumbo was edible. The 4 of us who didn't do the boil, each shared the various 4 other options. My only real issue is, the boils were served about 22 minutes after the other 4 dishes arrived. So, we all didn't really eat together, which defeats the purposes of having dinner as a group. That made for a long and boring table setting.

Nice quiet atmosphere while we were there. Food came out in a timely manner it was hot, fresh, and very good. I will visit again!!

Great Location. Lots of parking. Had to wait over an hour to get in and had to stand the whole time. Food was hot and fresh but under seasoned for my liking l. The appetizers were a bit overcooked. But overall, I loved the experience!

Very average, like, Red Lobster without the taste. I'm sure people really like it, but it's greasy, fatty, glorified Carolina bake.

The restaurant only holds about 50 dinners and the tables are uncomfortably small & close together. It's also located in a neighborhood that might make some people take caution. On the flip side...The Oyster Bar offers 130 years of history in a uniquely older facility that features fresh high quality seafood along with outstanding service. You decide what you value and how you want to spend your dinning dollars. The Oyster Bar is located south of downtown area on Calhoun Street. The vintage building is well signed, lighted and offers an easy-in-easy-out side parking lot. The restaurant only holds about 50 dinners with a limited number of tables and a small bar. I would suggest that you call and make a reservation as The Oyster Bar is a fairly popular place to dine. Inside the building has retained the historic look. The foyer is very small...just like walking into an old house. They feature lots of dark hardwoods and a vintage looking bar. The tables are located very close together as you would expect in a small area. I think the tables are smaller in size as it was difficult to accommodate all the dishes, menus, glasses and cell phones. The white table linens and attractive "sea going" decor help set the experience. The staff on this night was very friendly, professional and helpful. They made us feel welcomed quickly. The waitress was great about removing dishes, refills and stopping to check on us. It's easier when all your tables are close together. Overall the food was excellent. Fresh seafood in Fort Wayne isn't common place. The food creations were delicious & creative without being all that unique. You will find a fairly broad menu to meet most dinner's choices. Here is a run down on the items we ordered: -Calm Chowder: very creamy without being overly rich to taste; moderately thick in consistency with a mild clam flavor; several larger pieces of clam meat; very good taste -Oysters on the half shell: beautiful presentation; oysters were fresh taste; no salty or "sea" tastes/smells; a small dab of sweet cocktail sauce and ground horseradish were nice add; oysters were outstanding!! -Fried Hushpuppies: no corn meal breading here. The outside was lightly fried and slightly oily to taste. The inside was slightly sweet, soft and moist. The chipotle aioli sauce has a very mild southwestern flavor that accented the sweet breading. -Crab Cakes: two fairly large cakes packed with real crab meat; gently fried; the fresh seafood flavors come through nicely; another very good dish! -Seafood Au Gratin: plenty of chunks of scallops and crab buried in a delicious lobster cream sauce and layer of mozzarella cheese. The sauce was creamy and mild without being rich. The seafood pieces retained their original flavor. The cheese topping was nice and gooey which held the seafood & sauce together nicely. Delicious dish!! -Diver Scallops: large and plump scallops cooked perfectly; very tender and moist without a "fishy" taste - nicely done!! I very much enjoyed the dinning experience. I love restaurants that retain and feature an older buildings character. I appreciate high levels of service and outstandingly delicious food. Especially when it comes to fresh seafood!!

Big Eyed Fish on Wells Street - when you have a craving for Fish & Stroh style fish and tarter…read moresauce Yes, I know that I could go to Stroh to get this old time flavor. However, Big Eyed Fish is pretty good fish in its own right, local...and flavored like the taste I remember from the past. We visited the Big Eyed Fish location on Well's street. They have an express shop located on Huegenard Road and another dine in location at Leo Crossing. This location has been in service since 2003. It has a nice diner feel with super friendly service. You can find parking on the street or in the lot behind the store. The inside is rather large and works well for parties up to about 8 diners. There is a small bar and TV's if that is your thing. They also have a big and varied menu including breakfast items. Here is a run down of the food items: -Fried Fish: the white fish fillet is thin and fried with a thin breading. The fish is moist and tender. It will flake apart with a fork or by hand. The breading has a slight amount of seasoning and isn't very oily to taste. It has a taste similar to the Fish & Stroh style if you are familiar with that. The fillets are not very filling. For an extra $3...I went with the all you can eat option. Delicious fish! -Tarter Sauce: I love tarter sauce. In fact I might order fish to go with my tarter sauce - lol. This mayo based sauce is reasonably thick, somewhat sweet and has a hint of pickle flavoring. It's creamy and makes a perfect complement to the fried fish flavor. -Baked Beans: this side really surprised me. The bean is small and contained hamburger pieces. The sauce had a slight BBQ flavor but not enough to classify it as a BBQ baked bean dish. The meat flavor was a nice add to the smooth tomato spiced sauce. Delicious!! -Cole Slaw: I kind of use KFC as the standard for Cole Slaw. This is very similar. The slaw pieces are cut very small with only one kind of slaw. Seemingly no additives - just slaw. The sauce is mayo based, a bit more sweet along with a hint of vinegar. I loved this side too! -Hush Puppies: these balls are pretty small in diameter. The inside is very modista and sweet with that southern style corn bread taste. The outside is thicker, a bit oily to taste and has a mild corn bread taste/texture. These are probably some of the best hush puppies I've had in my southern raised life.
