We celebrated my son's 15th birthday here last night. Service by the hostess staff was exceptional. We had a party of 12 and they found us seating in less than 30 minutes. This was our second time going to this chain. It is a casual restaurant where you order your food and it is brought to you, you get your own drinks and utensils. The only difference than most fast casual restaurants is that the food quality is high and the prices are good. Highly recommend the tri-tip, both flavors. Ask for the horse radish, amazing on the meat. My kids enjoy the pizza and bread sticks. We had the cartwheel salad and the garden salad, super huge and great flavor. I think this might be our new birthday location. Although I like the outside eating area at the Pasadena location better. Only gripe, they could use some better dessert options. Gotta say this place was pretty good not very disappointed at all. Let's see where do I start, first I had the Caesar Salad, best Caesar Salad I've ever had so far hands down. Props on that. I ordered the tri tip med. rare and it was pretty damn tender, pretty good for what it was for sure. I also tried the BBQ chicken... Tasted AMAZING! One thing you have to learn is how to order. First time here, and very impressed. Great food, good service, and quick to serve the food. From order to food being brought out was less than 15 minutes. Depending on what you get, their portions are huge. We made the mistake of order two large salads, we were a party of seven, and one could feed us and an additional three people. We also ordered the pesto pasta, tri-tip, and bbq chicken, and everything was delicious. From the tender tri-tip, to the juicy bbq chicken it all tasted amazing. We ordered the medium salad that is enough for 4 people very tasty dressing, the soup is just amaingg with the cheese and chicken thinking about it is mouth watering. When you walk in, you order and pay at the same time so you end up with lots of people milling about in a pile reading menus. You also pretip which is never a good sign. We were looking for a good BBQ place to replace e Lucille's which has gone downhill. This place is definitely not it. I have never, in the history of ever, not finished an order of ribs. The bread sticks seemed like something you would buy frozen at the grocery store and heat up in the microwave. The mashed potatoes were decent, but they had a hair in them. I just love this place! It's casual, good food and not too pricey. My husband and I do take out here often. The order is usually a chicken caesar salad, bread sticks obviously, and a bottle of wine. Yes you can get wine to go. I think that the servings are proportioned on the larger side. Like someone else mentioned, the small salad can definitely serve 3, not 1-2. My family and I have been going to the Irvine Stonefire for about 5 years. We can feed a family of four for about $35 with leftovers. Each of us is so picky with completely different tastes so finding a place we all enjoy has never been easy. But this place meets all of our criteria. We love the buttery garlic bread sticks! I love the salads, especially their BBQ Chopped Chicken Salad. My husband says their tri-tip is great. My boys usually get the pizza and ribs. And everyone leaves happy! Their desserts are really yummy and come in large portions! The carrot cake is super tasty and moist (maybe because of all the pineapple?) A heads up: We've noticed it can be pretty cold in there, not sure why, even my husband who is usually hot says he can count on freezing when he goes there. We've been coming here a lot - food and service has been okay, but the food preparers at this location really seem to love blue cheese... great, unless someone in your party is allergic to it. :/ On our last two visits, the salads have been wilty (not freshly tossed) and the Cobb had blue cheese in it even though we specifically asked for it without. That we had to take back and got a freshly made (yay non-wilted lettuce) one instead. Today our tri-tip came with blue cheese on it??? Stonefire never fails you! It's great for a meal with family or friends visiting Irvine or just when you want a casual meal. The set-up is mostly self service but the cashiers and staff is all very friendly and work hard to accommodate your needs quickly. Food here is always very good. The tritip is tastier when eaten quickly while it's still hot. The Caesar salad and breadsticks is probably pretty fattening from all the seasoning and dressing on it but it's still deeeeelicious and super fresh, very worth what you pay!! The price is pretty decent too. I get the packages with my friends or whoever I'm there with and you usually end up paying $10-15 to get super stuffed with good quality food.
