So we were so welcomed here. It's family owned and the owner came out and offered us options outside the menu. I had a three cheese burger with grilled onions. Also got some ribs. Was super tasty. The side of potato salad was perfect The ambiance was so friendly and helpful. The family catered to our needs.

We had the triple cheeseburger, Chicago dog (without a bun), and buffalo chicken w/pulled pork sandwich. Everything tasted amazing! It was too hot to sit outside, but they have a nice outdoor patio. Service was great too!

Inside of the restaurant. It was clean, food was delicious and service was above par

Great food, I had the pork steak with slaw & fries and the voodoo Rueben dog. The pork steak was perfect, fries were crisp and done perfectly, slaw was great wish we got more. Taking the dog with me for later. You get a pickled okra to start off the meal. We definitely come again and try the gumbo.

Great food, generous portions, reasonable prices, amiable service. What more could you want? Off the beaten path but worth seeking out.

Food was fantastic and the owner is such a fun guy to talk to. The decor made you feel you were way down south!

It is a Trojan horse for one of the best burgers in St. Louis (my wife says I'm being dramatic for calling it THE best; I say I am not NOT going back for another). We enjoyed everything we order: the pork belly burnt ends and cashew chicken wings, and a coffee & cardamom old fashioned that sounds like a personality disorder but tastes like a vibe, smoky, a touch sweet, and very drinkable year-round. The Sam Elliott burger, BBQ sauce, bacon, crunchy onions, brioche, is named for a man who has never disappointed anyone, and neither does the sandwich. And the meatloaf is NOT your grandma's brick: tender, charred at the edges, laid over silky mashed potatoes with broccolini, perhaps closer to a chop steak than a loaf in the best possible way. Vibe is farm-chic: old church pews, repurposed interior doors, a proper bar up front, plus a patio and rooftop for when the weather cooperates. Fun fact -- it's named after the blue duck Billy Madison paints in elementary school, which is a fantastic piece of trivia and tells you absolutely nothing accurate about the actual restaurant. 4.7 Stars. Picking Nits: the counter-order setup is efficient, but it sets expectations in the wrong direction for the first 90 seconds, you brace for fast-casual and instead get something considerably more ambitious. Food comes out fast once you've ordered, which is great if you're hungry and slightly jarring if you wanted a slow, lingering dinner. And the Billy Madison naming is charming trivia but entirely misleading as a vibe preview, no complaints about the actual restaurant, just the branding expectations it sets. If The Blue Duck were a character: Ron Swanson. Hear me out. If Ron ate here, he'd be suspicious of the entire experience until his first bite of protein -- the counter ordering, the repurposed doors, a burger named after a fellow mustachioed American, all of it registering as potentially too clever. Then the Sam Elliott hits his plate, he takes one bite, and the skepticism dissolves into the quiet respect of a man who has found his people. Looks rustic. Has strong feelings about meat. Secretly sophisticated -- plays saxophone in a jazz club under a fake name, builds his own furniture, would 100% approve of the farm-chic decor once the protein has spoken. Presents as simple. Isn't.

Ours was Ashley and she was attentive and informative. The meat lovers omelet I had was just like me at the end of my meal, stuffed. Most omelets that I have had, which is a lot, that say they have cheese in them, the cheese is hard to find. But not here, the cheese ( your choice of cheese, was front and center. My hash browns were crispy nor soft and soggy. My wife ordered her eggs like she enjoys them and they were not exactly right so Ashley took them back and the next set were, to quote my wife, the BEST, she has ever had. The sausage she got is made right there and was outstanding. We learned from Ashley that the owners were in the kitchen fixing the food and source the burgers and steaks from their own cattle. They also bake the pies and cakes on site. We now have a place to bring visitors to our home in Saint James, such a real great find. The bathroom was neat and clean and parking is plenty and an easy walk for older patrons. Please stop in and let them know that the 'spoon player' sent you. Plus they do offer a military discount Oh and great music for dining ambience

I ordered the famous sausage chilli and the cranberry pecan (chicken?) salad. Also got an order of the cinna-biscuits. They weren't as busy but service was a bit slow, they forgot that I asked for the cinna-biscuits so we had to order it as a takeaway instead. I tried it while they were fresh though and they were good. The chilli was just okay, nothing too special. I wasn't sure if the salad came with chicken (I thought it said on the menu) but when I asked a server, she said that I can get chicken added if I asked for it. Pretty standard, price wasn't too bad for the portion. I'll maybe come back and try other dishes next time.

We visited late morning on a Monday and it didn't seem busy at all. We were seated quickly and got coffee quick enough but we just as quickly realized it was understaffed with only two wait staff covering the entire floor (it's a large space). Our waitress was serving a couple tables in a section adjacent to ours but seemed confused at times. Once we placed our order it turned into a long wait. Part of the problem was a couple items included with our food weren't available....so we were forced to substitute. We noticed a lot of back and forth conversation between our waitress and the kitchen (we were in close proximity). We did find the food tasty for standard fare once we got it. Our waitress was pleasant and apologetic for the long delay which was considerate. We didn't hate it but would like to have seen menu items available and increased coverage and less confusion. You can do better.
