For STARTERS: their Bosco Sticks are so soft, and amazingly cheesy good!! Mucho Nachos I would definitely get again: big helping, melty cheese, special sauce and some sour cream - - Mucho Great!! Buffalo chicken wrap was really good according to my wife, looked really good too! Service was over the top great! They took great care of us the entire time. They have Diet Dr Pepper too- big plus. Awesome spot! The interior is straight out of the 90s and car themed- very fun. Almost feels like a diner. We stopped in for dinner and had fantastic service the entire time. We ordered the Santa Fe eggrolls as an app and they were delish. They have chicken in them and come with a zesty ranch- yum. For entrees we had the patty melt (double) with fries and the Philly Cheesesteak with onion rings. Both were so good. Fries were crispy and my patty melt was big. Nice portion sizes and fair prices. Saw they had some cheesecakes in the fridge when we were walking out- will definitely be back to try those when we're not so stuffed :) Will definitely be back! read more

Good family restaurant. Clean, friendly and contrary to the sign on the door, it is not a smoking restaurant! Our server said they were known for their ribs, fried chicken and burgers, so we each tried a burger. A single is plenty and they were really good. I had a side salad and while it was healthier than the fries I could have ordered, it was just your standard -- iceberg lettuce, tomato, shredded cheddar, red onion and croutons. If you ask for dessert, they actually bring a tray of desserts out instead of just the menu. I thought that was a nice touch! Asked the waitress if the country fried steak was fresh and pounded in house. Answer was no, it's a frozen patty. Ordered a jalapeño bacon cheeseburger. Our came a bacon cheeseburger. No jalapeños or jalapeño sauce. Waitress said she didn't hear me say jalapeño. Several other people at the table heard me say jalapeño. My mom and I were trying to meet up for a dinner and looking for somewhere lowkey. I hadn't been to this restaurant for YEARS but remembered it being good food. When we arrived the parking lot was crazy. Inside they said 10mins or so for a table of 2 (there were multiple large parties ahead of us). They ended up seating us in less than 5 mins! I had a few ideas from the menu but was torn on what to order. I asked a recommendation from the server and they advised the all you can eat catfish is a top seller - SOLD! You get 2 sides with that and I chose mashed potatoes and green beans. The dinner was very good, though I will say the catfish was good but not the best I've had. My mom liked it better than I did. My mom got the shrimp platter (which I tried too) and it was very tasty. She really enjoyed it. Service was top notch! It took a while for the food to come out after we ordered but the server kept us updated and let us know what to expect. Kudos as well that as soon as my catfish was delivered (3 large pieces) she immediately asked if I may like a refill as it would take a bit to cook. I said yes and she offered for me to choose how many pieces. That was an awesome process! Everyone I interacted with here was friendly and helpful. I only saw a few servers working the area we were in, but they were all hustling to make sure everyone was taken care of. Note that JJ's has multiple large banquet rooms as well. I'm not sure how you reserve (or maybe rent) one but I have attended an event in one before and it was nice. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite. Solid family dining. i had the smothered chicken with a nice sized side salad and bright green beans with a bit of bacon. My friends got the pulled pork nachos, a hickory bbq sandwich, and a huge cobb salad. We were all quite happy with our meals. Good portions with good flavors. This place used to be great. Such a disappointment. Fried green beans- good. The bad: sirloin steak- not sure it was sirloin. Obvious low quality, no flavor. Brought it home to the dogs. Baked potato- greasy and bland. Mashed potatoes- taste, temperature and texture of cafeteria food. Our waitress knew our disappointment with the food and just avoided us and gave weak apologies. My husband was always a fan of the fried shrimp and said they weren't good either. We're both feeling yucky and writing this place off for good. Our group of 4 ate at JJ's O'Fallon Tuesday evening (12/17/24) ... about 2 -3 hours after eating my stomach started feeling very queezy. About 6 hours after eating I was experiencing full blown food poisoning with ALL of the ugly side effects ... explosive diarrhea, fever, listless, stomach cramping and vomiting. Now, 22 hours later, only the fever, cramping and listless feeling remain. I haven't been able to eat anything today although I have drank a bit of water. This restaurant has been in the O'Fallon area for over 25 years and has the feel of a welcoming small town diner . The staff is super friendly and attentive and the food is delicious. They have a full menu so there is something to please everyone even the kids. Lunch time! We were sat at a booth within viewing distance of a tv with the Cardinals game on. We ordered the recommended ribs, the baked cod sandwich, and a chicken quesadilla. The rib meat was soft and juicy, fell right off the bone. The bbq sauce was sweet and smokey, just like I like it. My husband ordered sweet potato fries and mac n cheese for his sides. The mac n cheese had an up-charge, which we were fine with, until a plate of Kraft-looking mac n cheese was sat in front of us. I almost laughed. We joked about it later. The cod was dry and cold. It almost looked undercooked. I only ate a few bites and started in on my husband's ribs instead. The creamy coleslaw was good. The chicken quesadilla was too spicy for me, but he loved it. They had Hank's cheesecake on the dessert menu. It was a good experience. The service was good, just wish I had ordered the fried cod instead of baked. read more

Mediocre, fair, okay, but not best. Hungry and in the neighborhood, go ahead, but not worth traveling any distance to go here. Around 20 years ago we walked away from this diner after trying several times to find something unique about it--something that made us want to return. A gift certificate brought us back recently. And, the many newer 4-and 5-star reviews gave us hope for a better experience. We left again thinking "meh" though we agree with other reviews that JJ's provides a lot of food for the price. JJ's claims burgers as a specialty. I asked but they're not cooked to order. So, predictably, the large, 1/3-pound well done burger lacked any hint of moisture. French fries--though a hefty portion--were the same Ore-Ida krinkle cut fries you can cook at home. JJ's doesn't season theirs so they were rather tasteless. Our turkey club sandwich? So so. Service was satisfactory but we were informed of the restaurant's daily specials by overhearing a server helping nearby diners after we ordered. Nostalgic advertising signs make up most of the decor. JJ's is as good as it gets for a mom and pop restaurant. Decorated in sports memorabilia it also has tv's all over the place. JJ's is one of my go to places when I want a really good burger, and I do mean really good. They always have a great daily special and today being Sunday the special was a full half chicken, potatoes with milk gravy and a generous helping of corn the chicken was moist and delicious with the outside being nice and crisp all for less than ten dollars This is a great local business that offers great food at terrific prices, it's become one of my favorites. read more

I loved this place! The inside reminds me of a cross between the old Burkempers and Stefaninas. Wings were good - salad dressings were good, side salads were good - and by good I mean GREAT!! nothing over the top but really great food - then -- the BURRRRGER!!! We split a double cheeseburger. OMGosh. I have eaten a few burgers in my time but this! This burger was amazing. I only needed half, but boy it was something else! We had a couple of beers - the beer selection is what you would think for this place - pretty standard and AB products - nothing fancy. My fancy that night was Amberbock if that tells you anything. Stopped in for lunch today. Ordered the brisket sandwich. Brisket was tasty, but the bbq sauce not so tasty, vinegary version of Sweet Baby Rays. The brisket sandwich came with a heap of fries. I ate a few but they were not very tasty. The booth had a big hole in it. The iced tea no lemon was served with 2 lemon wedges even after I gave her my iced tea no lemons spiel.
