Hidden mom and pop breakfast restaurant. This restaurant had some of the lowest prices for food! I f you are looking for a great place to grab breakfast and save some money, this is it! Although it is basic diner food, I was left filling full. I was happy to see a large chocolate milk on the menu. I was also happy to see they source locally as much as they can for their products. There is table, seating booth, seating, and bar seating. They need to update their check-in counter as simply yelling names is not sufficient in the large space due to the amount of noise coming from the diners a simple text or pager system would do this restaurant some good. read more

We recently visited The Scrambler House for breakfast. We were initially quoted about a 40-minute wait, but ended up getting seated a little sooner, which was a pleasant surprise. We kept things pretty simple and ordered scrambled eggs with link sausage, along with pancakes and French toast. The eggs unfortunately came out a bit cool and weren't especially fluffy. They had more of a scooped-from-a-tray feel rather than something freshly cooked to order. The sausage, however, was fresh and had a good flavor, which was probably the standout part of the plate. The pancakes and French toast were decent overall. The pancakes were nicely fluffy, but aside from that there wasn't anything particularly memorable about either item. Our waitress seemed extremely busy and a bit scattered, which made it feel like she may have had too many tables to manage at once. At one point we overheard her say "turn 'em and burn 'em" while referencing customers/tables, which was a little off-putting and not exactly something that inspires repeat visits. Overall, the experience was okay but not particularly memorable. Personally, it's probably not somewhere I'd rush back to, though it did seem like the older clientele there were enjoying themselves. read more

It was a pretty busy Saturday morning with a 10/15 minute wait. However, the food ended up being worth the wait! We met some friends up there and we both had kids and our waitress took very good of all of us, especially the kids. She took their orders first (about 5 minutes) before taking ours so they were not getting hangry which was very thoughtful. The menu is full of breakfast classics and has tons of ways to order them however you want them. Their hash-browns are VERY good and are very unique (highly recommend). Plus, their biscuits and gravy was also MELT IN YOUR MOUTH great!! I got french toast with my food and they were oh MY good. This is a definite, need to come back type place. read more

Pretty standard breakfast fare. Our service was sadly sub par. It just took a long time for our server to address us & then a long time after that for her to take our order. She did not check on us after we got our food until she brought the check. It was okay, but not great. I thought the hash browns were good but they are more like potatoes than more "traditional" hash browns. I thought The "King" was gross. I did not like the smoky bacon with the bananas and sweetness but maybe personal preference. The biscuits & gravy were good but just standard. Lived out in O'Fallon area for 20 plus years but had never heard of the Scrambler House. I think people are gate keeping this place! What a gem! Tucked away in a strip center, this is a fabulous and popular breakfast spot, especially on a Saturday!! French toast was to die for! That perfect combo of crispy and soft. Bottomless coffee pot at your table. Great specials. Fun environment behind just diner decor. Friendly wait staff and lots of high schoolers working there that have been trained on good customer service. I had scrambled eggs and bacon with my French toast. Eggs were perfect. Moist and not dry. Bacon crispy but not burnt or flimsy. They serve lunch too so I need to go back. Don't let a fully lobby of waiting people deter you. It moves fast. I enjoyed my first visit here a few week ago. The menu has plenty of options for everyone. I finally settled on an omelet with potatoes (crispy and well seasoned) and upgraded my toast to a biscuit to try out a side of gravy. Everything was great. Plenty of bacon in the omelet. I don't know the slices of Swiss exactly work on top, but no complaints. Patience is a virtue here, so don't be in a hurry. The staff is very friendly. We were in the area and stopped for lunch. We both had the lunch special, meatloaf. The food was fine. No issues. The meatloaf was basically three hamburger patties. Mashed potatoes and green beans were fine. The service was good and the ambiance was okay. The only issue I had was that I also ordered a dinner salad. I was disappointed when the salad and meatloaf was delivered to our table at the same time. Because of this, after paying an extra $4.00 for a salad, I barely touched it lest my lunch would get cold. I have passed this place almost every morning on my work commute and finally got the chance to stop in for breakfast and I am so glad I did! We came on a Wednesday morning and it was busy, you can tell they get a lot of regulars which I think speaks volumes about a business! They have a pretty diverse menu so it caters to every tastebud, my mom and I both landed on the country big breakfast with a biscuit and gravy which we both enjoyed. Our service was great (though a little slow due to the volume of people vs the amount of servers) and my coffee cup never went empty! I will for sure be visiting again! read more

Met some girlfriends for breakfast and had a great experience. We met at 11 which can go either way. While my friends went with breakfast, I decided to explore the lunch menu. The breakfast meals are hearty with generous portions. I went with the catfish platter, and I'm already wanting to go back for another one. The fish is seasoned well and full of flavor. Each bite was crisp and delicious. I went with traditional sides crinkle cut fries and coleslaw. I was throughly impressed with the entire meal. Our server was so friendly and full of suggestions. The only note we had: the biscuits and gravy could use some fine tuning. The biscuits were on the sweeter side which threw off the savory flavor of the gravy. The first thing I noticed after the hostess said the wait is 10 minutes is they are understaffed. There were 2 clean open tables. I ordered the Country Boy and I chose my 2 eggs to be scrambled and 3 sausage links and 1 biscuit with gravy. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The sausage links didn't have the seasoning I prefer which is a little spicy. The biscuits and gravy came out luke warm which was disappointing. My fiance and I were looking for a brunch spot that we haven't been to and found The Scrambler House while looking through Yelp reviews. From the outside, it doesn't seem like much, but when you walk inside it is BUSY. We walked in around 10:00 AM on a Sunday and got seated within 15 minutes. The menu had sooo many delicious brunch options. Our server was really fast and attentive. My fiance got the steak and eggs with a sweet tea and I got their Slinger with extra onions and jalapeños and their iced vanilla coffee. I would skip their flavored coffee in the future -- it wasn't great. Their sweet tea was the perfect sweetness. My fiance loved his steak and eggs -- he got American fries with it which was the diced kind. My slinger could have used more flavor in the chili, but I was really into the home fried potatoes that came with it which was more scallop-like. The food was really good! The prices were decent. It's a small place so there's usually a wait, but it's worth it.

Wonderful lunch today at Scrambler House. The owners had Hilary's Roadhouse Diner in Maryland Heights from 2014 to 2019. We always enjoyed that restaurant and were anxious to try this one. Today we got The "King" a Frosted Flake French Toast, banana brulee, raspberries, candied bacon, peanut butter drizzle and strawberry sauce. We also ordered a bacon and cheddar omelette. I appreciated the option to select the cheese for the omelette. The "King" was a masterpiece in presentation. It looked and tasted great. This is in a strip mall and adequate parking was available. The restaurant was easy to navigate for a handicapped person and the restrooms had grab bars. This is definitely going on our list of repeat locations. read more

Ever had a place you wish you could take with you if/when you have to move to another city? This is that kind of place. I have had many meals here and not one bad one, the food is amazing, the ingredients are fresh, the grits, I have had grits in Charleston and New Orleans and Tampa and all over NC, folks, they have the BEST grits in the country!!! I'm on a low carb diet and I still have to indulge and have their grits, I'd rather go a week without any carbs. So this place rocks, can't recommend it enough. read more
