We originally found this restaurant a few years ago after biking the trail and wanted to try a new place. We now stop here after the trail and our winery visits. The food is great. We haven't had one "bad" thing. We usually get the pretzel bites however we tried the bacon dip last time and it did not disappoint. We tried Brass Rail for a birthday dinner. It was a busy Saturday night before Easter. There were about 20 people in line ahead of us, and it still only took 20 minutes to seat us. We were seated in a back room that did not have the best ambiance. There was a tile drop ceiling with bright lighting that had a hotel conference room feel. I was hoping for an upscale steakhouse, but it is more of a family restaurant. The pork chop with brown sugar was delicious, as were the garlic potatoes. There was a nice wine list, as well. The server was attentive, despite the busy evening. We probably won't be back as the price is more reflective of an upscale location. I've never been here before, but my friend brought me here for my birthday dinner It was very enjoyable. It was very busy. It's not real clear on how to enter. I actually entered from the side door and had to walk to the front of the restaurant so that the host would seat me. I was seated in the screened in patio room. It was very loud. Our server was very pleasant. The service was quick. I ordered the salmon which was flavorful. I also got a side salad, which was good. Was unfortunately a little underwhelmed with our experience at Brass Rail! Service and food were just average. We ordered the crab cake appetizer and it was good for Midwest seafood but nothing to make a special trip for. I had the Monday night prime sirloin special and it was just kind of cold in my opinion. Dinner sides were pretty small too- I had a side of mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. My friend had a chicken sandwich and he really liked his. They then slow smoke them, and then they are grilled to order. I love crispy buffalo wings, but these may take 1st place. If you go on Tuesday's, they have a wing special. 10 wings, on a bed of fries, with 2 sauces, and 1 dressing of your choice. Dressing choices are homemade blue cheese, and ranch. You'd think they would do quantity over quality but that's NOT the case here! Every bite was delicious!! What we ordered: Appetizers: Toasted Ravioli- 9/10 I'm just not a super fan of these but the table loved em. Can't go wrong with em since they are Midwest staple. They give you a lot too! Brassballs - 10/10 funny name. They are basically just small balls of pepper jack cheese battered and fried. I like that they used pepper jack for a little spicy kick. Mains: Filet mignon - 10/10 cooked to perfection, meat was tender and melt in your mouth. Side of garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli was the cherry on top. When we asked where our food was, the longed haired, older bartender butted in and claimed we put our order in at 6:07. Even though we ordered about 5:45. For what it is, The Brass Rail is a great restaurant. It's not a destination restaurant, so if you're out in St. Louis I wouldn't recommend driving all the way over here or anything just to eat here. However, if you live in O'Fallon, Dardenne, Weldon Spring etc. and want to come for casual dining experience with good quality food, I'd definitely recommend this place. They have a lot of TVs set up in the place so if you would like to watch some game, they'll probably have it. Their alcohol selection is fairly impressive, as is their beer selection. The food here is pretty good too. It's maybe not exactly casual dining, but I would still say it's closer to casual than it is to fine dining. That said, the food is all pretty good quality and I feel like they have good cooks here. I've liked everything I've gotten here, and if you have an issue with any of the dishes they are always pretty accommodating. They also have a fairly wide selection of dishes, so there's plenty of options. One final note is that this place seems to be popular for holding events on occasion (I think I've seen a number of post wedding parties held here), so they might be closed if you read more

Got the chance to have lunch with the family and tried a spot close to home the Brass Rail. Located in O Fallon, Missouri the Brass Rail is a restaurant the specializes in brunch/lunch and dinner. We arrived after the lunch rush but Brass Rail was still full and able to get seated. Bras Rail has a diverse menu of appetizers and entrees to fit any palette for any time of day. We all decided on sandwiches and went with recommendations from the Yelp Army and friends. All sandwiches come with a side and we heard portions are large. First we went with the Cajun chicken Philly cheesesteak a deliciously seasoned sandwich. Next, we ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, another delicious sandwich that was a large portion and lots of fries. Finally we ordered a classic French Dip with tons of fries. Did I mention lots of fries? Fries were hot and evenly salted, which complimented each dish. Service was great and checked on us frequently. Tables were also serviced quickly and very clean. Food here is really good, lots of choices. Service is pretty good, sometimes they are not as attentive as they could be, mostly if it is busy. The restaurant is nice, intimate and can be cozy depending on where you sit. It does get really loud in here especially if they are really busy. I suggest if you want to have a conversation then ask to sit in either the overflow room or small bar area. They have a great outside space from Spring until late fall. I have been to O'Fallon for work several times now. Not once has anyone recommended The Brass Rail and I have had literal brainstorming sessions with people in office. Everyone recommends a well known local steak place - I'm like no - BRASS RAIL. Literally. I had the filet at the place to not be named and it was mediocre at best - Brass Rail was top notch, when it comes to a medium rare filet Brass Rail is THE spot. The sides were fine, I wouldn't write home about them, but they had a molten chocolate cake with raspberry I would. Desserts seem to rotate daily so don't visit for just that without verifying ahead of time. On top of this the service was amazing, I sat at the bar and the bartender was great conversation taion - the helicopter pilot next to me got the BBQ dinner and said it too was top notch. The ambiance of the place made you feel like you were actually at a higher scale restaurant as opposed to an old bar suck in the 80's. I went back last Saturday night with some friends, we had to wait 10 minutes or so but they have plenty of seating so not bad. Busy of course as usual. My friend had an issue with her app and they gave her an option of a credit or $10 off the next time she orders an app so that was nice. They had a new veggie pasta dish on the menu so I was excited to try it, as I don't really care for veggie burgers and that was the only other option. The pasta was not good, it was a huge portion but had zero flavor/ i did ask for it without cheese but the sauce was terrible. My friends all liked their food and tried mine and agreed it was bad. Sorry I just don't think I'll go back, I will insist on going elsewhere when friends want to go here. Great for meat lovers but if you prefer more veggies don't go here. Quite sad because it's super close to my home and they used to have an amazing spinach bowl that was so good but they removed it from the menu years ago. This was it... the final farewell "I'm A Doctor" tour. Made a reservation for 12 ahead of time immediately following my commencement ceremony. They seated us in a cozy private room with dimmed lighting that allowed us to have animated conversation without bothering everyone else and did such a great job handling our entire group. I ordered the crab cake as a starter. They tell you up front it takes longer to cook. Fine fine. The extra couple of minutes was worth it because it was delicious! I ordered the balsamic chicken bruschetta which was absolutely fabulous! My husband and several others got the steak which they all said was fantastic.
