I've been somewhat hesitant to review this place because I don't want it to become more crowded. It is by far my favorite restaurant in the Chesterfield to Lake St Louis area of the metro. It is consistently one of the best meals in the metro area. I've been here many times and they remembered me from my second visit on. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, professional staff. The dining room is small with the bar on the left but it usually isn't difficult to be seated quickly. I rarely eat anything off the menu because they have so many specials every time I'm there based upon what is in season. If you like fresh, thoughtfully prepared fish, it's the best place I know in the city. I'm also a huge fan of the Brussel sprouts. read more

Ambience was good, side room next to bar a little small and the noise carries greatly, I wish they had some type of sound walls, so it wasn't too intimate for conversations and it was a bit darker inside if you are a person that needs some light. Onion soup was delicious and one of the best out there. The filet flavor was 4 out of 5. Next time I'd think I'd go for this fish or halibut. Had the pleasure of dining at Westchester. My server was Sam and she rocked it out and I was impressed as she delivered the specials as if she had been studying them for weeks. But beyond that, she was such a joy to speak with and clearly shows shes passionate about being there. First, I ordered an amaretto sour and it was one of the best I've had. Sour mixed with orange and layered with egg white made it pleasing on the palate. You are offered fresh bread and herbed butter and the night's offering was housemade cibiatta. The bread was warm, had an excellent chew and a hint of sweetness which the whipped butter complimented well. I ordered the carrots and filet mignon with gorgonzola butter and shaved truffle. The carrots were dynamite. Fire roasted, drizzled with honey that had a nice kick with goat cheese and bread crumbles. The filet, however, was the show stopper. It was tender, well seasoned, and melted in your mouth. The potatoes were rich and creamy, and cognac peppercorn added enough without being overpowering. This is a lovely little gem in Chesterfield and highly encourage to check it out. read more

I don't know where to start. To begin, when we arrived the chef was greeting people at the door and seating them. Because this was my first time there I have no idea if this is regular practice, but it was a nice touch! The restaurant is small and VERY ambient, so this made the evening feel personal. We ordered cocktails and a lot of appetizers - all of which I forgot to take a photo of because they were gobbled so quickly. We had the wings - unbelievable flavor and unlike any wing I've had. The calamari - FULL of flavor, with a great aoli. The brussel sprouts - I'd like to just eat a plate of those for dinner. Amazing. And you get bread at your table with butter they make on site. Incredible. Now let's get to the stars - the entrees. I have NEVER in my life ordered a pork chop. It's just not my thing. But...I saw a picture of it on their Instagram and took a chance. When I say it was absolutely incredible - that's an understatement. On a bed of sweet potato purée whose sweetness complemented the crispy char of the pork chop - 10/10. It's not a huge space and they do a great job invoking the spirit of a New York vibe. I forgot I was in StL for a moment. Glass of Reisling, Dr. Loosen, to kick off and this is very well balanced without an aftertaste. A shot of Clase Azul Reposado just to see what the hype was about... yes, it's very smooth! Crab Fries and Wings for the starter, both of them amazing. The Fries are tossed in what seems to be a crab butter because the crab flavor hits throughout. The crab on top is ample and juicy. The wings are smoked and fried, served with the sauces on the side, it's the perfect bite. I can definitely vision future happy hours with these 2. One of the dinner specials this evening was the Shrimp, Crab, Scallops n Grits.. an enhanced Shrimp n Grits. I had to get it and it was the right play. The grits were creamy and smooth without it being too much on the plate. Ample seafood, enough for the full dish. All the flavors were on point. Made it to dessert... barely. 5 Layer Chocolate Cake, it's rich and decadent. Added ice cream on the side which evened out the richness. This is definitely a place for an elevated meal and service. Met some friends for dinner and was very impressed! It started off with James as our server and what a delight he was. Very friendly and personable. He really made for a wonderful evening. We did find out that when you make reservations you can specifically ask for him, and we will in the future. Now, onto the menu. Initially looking the menu seemed limited. There were quite a few 'off-menu' items. We ended up with the filet topped with lobster bites, and all I can see it was delicious. Meal came out hot and everything was delicious. The restaurant was nicely done, not overly crowded with tables. We ended up on the bar side, but the was ok as we were able to keep up with the playoffs. I meet some friends here before we took a crepe making class down the street at French Creperie. We were enjoying ourselves so much, it was a good thing we shared with our waitress what we were doing and she kept us on schedule. I am a Manhattan and Dirty Martini drinker and I will say, their bartender did not disappoint me. His, Westchester Manhattan was spot on and the glass was filled to the rim. Being a fan of bourbon, I appreciated the full glass. My Tito's Dirty Martini was equally as good and I truly loved that they offered Bleu Cheese Stuffed Olives as a garnish. My Small Plate was, Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Shishito. They were uniquely flavorful. They had, Marcona Almonds, Chili Salt, Sourdough Crumbles and a drizzle of Paprika Aioli. I generously shared with my friends and we all gave them a thumbs up. The ambiance is relaxing and it's almost intimate. I liked the small table lamps, they gave a classy romantic feel. Our service was attentive and friendly. One of group has a service animal and they seated us at a table that gave the dog plenty of move and to be out of the way of other patrons. Went in for a late night munchie after a Halloween event several weeks ago. The bartenders and entire staff are so friendly here and the atmosphere is inviting and cozy. It's a bit of a shotgun restaurant that reminds me of NYC spots that I love. I decided upon the carrot cake and coffee drink and OH MY. This cake rivals all other carrot cakes I have had. I really don't think I'll ever encounter something better. Hats off to the chef this is perfectly moist and the coated nuts on top was so incredibly delicious. I am so sad I don't live closer to Westchester because I would go alllll the time. Yelp partnered with St. Louis Post-Dispatch for Ian Froeb's Great Taste 2023 at the Science Center, and the pork belly they had was amazing. I knew I had to check out the actual restaurant. My friend and I were going to a concert at The Factory, so I knew this was the perfect opportunity. I made a reservation online at 545 for a Tuesday. I was super happy I did because by the time we left, it was packed. Definitely recommend making one! We were seated and ordered cocktails first. My friend got a dirty martini and I ordered The Filmore: mezcal, a couple of other fancy parts (lol), lime juice, and the glass was rimmed with tajin. I'm not doing the description justice but it was wonderful. I loved it the smoky taste of the mezcal with the lime. We were given bread with a speciality butter which was fantastic. I asked my server what it was and it was a take on lemon poppy seed. So great. We decided to get some small plates instead of entrees. I always love doing that so I can try several things. I also got the Lucky Dog Farm House Salad with balsamic. It was a creamy balsamic which I love, and the salad veggies were super fresh. The small plates we ordered were the shrimp scallop scampi, jumbo smoked chicken wings, and crispy Brussels sprouts with shishito peppers. We literally loved everything we had. The shrimp and scallops on the scampi were so fresh and the scallops felt like they melted in your mouth. The Brussels sprouts were fabulously cooked and crispy with an amazing paprika aioli. The real winner for me were the wings. They smoke them and then flash fry them. The quality of the wing is amazing, they have a lot of meat on them and are absolutely delicious. The service was wonderful. I believe our servers name was Sam. She was so helpful and personable, and made our experience even better. Although located in a suburban shopping plaza, and I honestly didn't have high expectations for a restaurant located in Chesterfield... everything was SUPERB!!!! Fantastic little spot! We came here last night for Valentines Day with a reservation- had seen it on Yelp and this is a great location for us on a week night. Absolutely loved the intimate, cozy ambiance here. I would say less than 20 tables and a large bar. Its not very big but you could probably come here with a group and not have a problem so long as you have a reservation. We started with the chicken wings and French onion soup and they were both out of this world. There were about 15 wings in the small plate/app and they had the most delicious smoky flavor. They serve complimentary bread and butter and they are delicious. The bread is fresh, the butter is both savory with a little hint of sweet- it was nearly the star of the meal. For entrees we got the scallops and filet mignon and they were both perfect- everything came out timely, was cooked to perfection, and the portions were a great size. Our waitress was extremely attentive and so sweet. The cocktail menu looked like it would certainly put Westchester on the map- and I will absolutely be back to try one! We enjoyed the flash fried lobster appetizer and move straight on to the entrees. My wife had the roasted carrots with feta and she said it was excellent along with their warm rolls and sweet butter. The rest of us had the filet mignon with potatoes, carrots, spinach and I believe broccolini. The meat was cooked perfectly to each of our requests which is so satisfying in that we didn't need to send any back for retire. So we all were able to eat together which doesn't always happen. We came here with friends two years ago and enjoyed it and told ourselves we'd be back. Two years later - we finally did it! The service is fantastic. We were greeted by Olivia, Sam was our server, and Chef James came by our table a few times. We couldn't have asked for better service! The place is small, dark, and loud. Definitely make a reservation! There are only 12 or 13 tables and some seating at the bar. We liked our food, but there were a few missed opportunities that would have made it great. My husband got the bacon spinach salad. It was mostly kale with a little spinach and he would have preferred more spinach and less kale. I ordered the pork rib chop. It needed more of the glaze that was supposed to be on there. My husband got the lamb special and it had mustard and a glaze on it. There was too much mustard, which made it too salty. He ended up scraping off as much as possible and wished he could taste the glaze. All this to say, we ate everything , but it could have been a little better. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here at the Westchester Restaurant and Bar. It was our first time dinning here for dinner and we are absolutely over the moon we found this hidden gem!! Chesterfield, MO is loaded with food options but nothing has ever compared to our experience here at the Westchester. Food 12/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Service 11/10 We arrived about 15-20 minutes early to our selected reservation time and the host welcomed us to sit at the bar while our table finished up. Did not have to wait around outside or in our car which was a fantastic way to start the evening because, the bartender was outstanding. We mentioned that this was our first time dinning and she helped guide us through the drink menu as well as the dinner menu as we prescaned the options for dinner. [ I am only assuming having a reservation for dinner here would be the best option because I haven't experienced walking in without one. Wouldn't hurt to call and ask them though. ] We settled on a bottle of red wine, a glass at the bar and the rest with our dinner. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the wine and did not photograph the bottle. But I can tell you that if you have a wine preference, they will point you in the direction and you will not be disappointed. The host kept us updated on the status of our table. Not once did we felt the need to check the time waiting for the table. They were attentive to our reservation time. We were then seated as soon as our table was ready and greeted by our waitress. Honestly, if you aren't a tartar lover, you have to at least order some waffle chips!!! Seafood stew, I COULD EAT THIS EVERYDAY OF MY LIFE. Every-single-day. All the best tasting seafood swimming in a flavorous broth. My mouth is water thinking about it. It can be as light or as heavy as you want. Eat it with white rice or skip the rice and enjoy the seafood with broth. Just scrumptious. Chef's cut ribeye, if you are a steak lover.. this plate would be quintessential for your soul. No steak sauce needed, you won't even think about it. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Just sheer perfection. Chocolate cake, will satisfy anyone's chocolate craving. Not just a sliver of cake. A portion that doesn't make you wish ordered something else. Creme brûlée with an assortment of macaroons, was my favorite dessert between the options we had. I would give this place an overall 3.5 stars. Went on a recent Friday night for an anniversary dinner. Walked in and had no idea what to do. No hostess stand, so "entry", you walk directly into the dining space. We were greeted pretty quickly but the awkwardness was not a great intro to the place. We had reservations but the table was not ready when we arrived. Normally this is not an issue but with Westchester, it is. The restaurant is so small that there is nothing you can really do if you can't sit right away. They have a decent sized bar but every seat was taken. All tables were filled except the large booths in the front. Our only option was to sit outside to wait. If weather is not good, this is a very unpleasant option. Although they seemed really apologetic about having us sit on the "patio" (sidewalk in front with a beautiful view of the parking lot), it took a surprisingly long time to get someone out to take drink orders. I was happy to see thoughtfully created mocktails on the menu so I ordered a Frank Zappa. It was supposed to resemble a mojito. It did not resemble a mojito. There was not a hint of mint flavor and it was very bitter. I feel like the only flavor was the tonic. I struggled to drink it and was only able to finish it very slowly throughout my meal as the ice melted and watered it down. As with most places that serve mocktails, it was very expensive for what you get. I didn't see bottle prices on the menu, only by the glass, and those prices were very high and pour was not generous enough in return. When you are paying $20 for a single glass of wine, it should be a darn hefty pour or a really high-quality wine, and it was neither. We waited about 15 min outside while waiting for our table. This was kind of a downer when we were anticipating a high-end special event dinner. The decor and feel of the place is lovely. It's dark and moody with very nice details like copper ceilings and lovely light fixtures. The put a lot of care into the selections and it is really beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and once we were inside, the service was very attentive. It was very loud and the space is small, so you are very close to your dining companions on all sides. Although we specified we were celebrating an anniversary on our reservation, it was not acknowledged at any point during our meal. The menu must change regularly because the dish I was looking forward to from seeing it online was no longer on the in-house restaurant. They also have a long, complicated list of specials. If you are going to have enough specials for a 5 minute speech from the server, maybe you should just print your menu out daily. We ended up ordering from the regular menu and got onion soup, salad, rib chop, and filet. The bread service was 2 little bread nuggets, I feel like probably house made. They were tasty and flaky and they offered to bring more, but it was strange to get a full bread basket for 2 tiny lumps. The butter was flavored and a little sweet. Onion soup was good but not great. They use their tiny, cubed salad croutons in the soup and there were too many in the bowl. The onions weren't quite as melty as they should have been. The broth and cheese were both good. Salad was gigantic, way out of proportion for a fine dining experience, and pretty basic. Croutons, tomatoes, cucumber, and chipped carrots with feta. Felt like an odd combo. Very strange dressing options. Who on earth would pick blue cheese dressing for a salad covered in feta? Balsamic dressing tasted good but was as thick as mayo, which was off-putting. They really need to reduce the size and add more unique toppings to their salad. Entrees were plated beautifully. The rib chop came with sweet potato puree and filet came with whipped potatoes. They didn't ask me how I wanted my chop prepared, but it was a very nice medium, almost medium rare. I think it would be appropriate to ask because not everyone can handle pork cooked this way. The sweet potato puree was wonderful with the pork, but there was a mound of what appeared to be shredded kale on the plate as well, and it was a little too bitter to play nicely with the rest of the plate. The filet was cooked to a perfect medium but the whipped potatoes needed salt, and that kale was even more bitter with the plain whipped potatoes than with the sweet potato. I would rate the chop really highly, but the steak was middle of the road compared to other fine dining options in the area. I will probably not return to Westchester. Although the entrees were very good, there were too many strange aspects of the evening that make me feel uncomfortable. My family and I had lunch here the other day and we all ordered burgers. We had a little mishap with one of our orders, but everyone from the hostess to the chef went above and beyond to make sure it was corrected and that we had an enjoyable experience.
