My brother got water spilled on him with one of the refills. The food was good but I think the fryer oil needs to be changed. However I could not tell that to our waitress as she didn't stay long enough. The chicken was over crispy and the fries not crispy enough yet brown. Our server Nicole was FANTASTIC- so much fun and super accommodating with our loud, crazy group of five adults and five kids 3-14. The avocado toast was THE BEST I've ever had, bar none. Mediocre rating for mediocre food... we had a larger party and when we arrived they had to get our seating ready, which they did quickly and we were seated. Our server was fantastic, a little quirky, SUPER honest about the menu items, and very friendly. My family specifically ordered the toasted raviolis, French toast, waffles, chili and a Cajun shrimp pasta dish. The breakfast items must be what they specialize in because they were on point. The chili was much spicier than I anticipated and I just left it alone since I had a cup instead of a bowl. The Cajun pasta had good flavor, but seemed to have a pound of butter floating in it, just too much for me, but my daughter enjoyed it. I was disappointed with the toasted raviolis, they were super small, not even worth taking a picture and didn't taste very good. I prefer IMO's over the ones from here. The overall restaurant was fine, nothing special or significant to note. They had Christmas decorations up still, so it was festive. Flavour was okay, nothing too special (what you would expect from a burger). I did get to try their homemade chips from my friend and it was good (not overly salty). Brunch/lunch visit with the adult kids. I am happy to go here because they are one of about three places left where I can get hash browns that don't taste like the griddle or the griddle oil. There were 4 of us and inside wait was 20ish minutes but patio was only 10 so we chose the patio. First time sitting on their patio and it was a perfect day for it. It was windy so I thought it might be an issue but it's completely covered and protected from the wind. Austin was our server and he was upbeat and friendly. It was sweet and creamy and fluffy-- all the things you want with French toast! Chicken and waffles were delicious too. Our server came over to welcome us and recommended a few options for drinks. I opted for a mimosa and a coffee and my dining partner did the same. We then had some time to review the menu and talk through options for us to enjoy. I ended up ordering the lemon blueberry pancakes and my friend ordered the strawberry cheesecake French toast along with a side of hash browns. When everything arrived, it was super hot and fresh everything tasted delicious. I give 5 stars to my server, Nicole! She was amazing and very attentive. I tipped her 20% because she was so good. But my breakfast was just mediocre. And I am bummed to have to report this. The gravy was decent and better than most places I've been to. The biscuits were a nice size and golden brown BUT you could tell they had been sitting under a warming tray somewhere. I could not cut the biscuits to save my life. Even when using a knife it was a struggle. I considered multiple times sending it back but I pressed on hoping it would get better & it did not. I will try going back & seeing if it's better a 2nd time around. I'm all for a great aesthetic so Billy G's was high on my list for yelp reviews. Turns out finer diner was taken away from the title so it's just Billy G's Chesterfield but the diner vibes is still very evident. Overall the food was good and the fries were perfect. But in regards of happy hour my friends who accompanied me didn't like the drinks here. Maybe it isn't Billy's specialty. We went here for my birthday brunch and Judy, our waitress, made sure that our experience was wonderful! We had mimosas (which I appreciate that it was in a wine glass! Overall, a fine place for breakfast food with large portion sizes. Nothing too special but has good options WAIT TIME: Came in at 3pm on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. FOOD: We got coffees, and split the strawberry cheesecake brioche toast and the sunrise burrito. The brioche toast was so sweet and fluffy and tasted really delicious! We got maple syrup to go with it and it came in this cute little jar too. The burrito was tasty as well, but it wasn't anything special. The hashbrowns in it were a little too burnt for my taste personally. Also, because it was covered in sauce, you couldn't pick it up to eat it which I think is part of the draw for a burrito for me, so that was unfortunate. Got messy and fell apart when having to cut it to eat it. SERVICE: We got a fairly young server who was very sweet, but you could tell she was a little less experienced. All in all, decent service though. AMBIANCE: Seems like a casual sit down restaurant. Nothing too special, they have some barstools at the bar but we just sat at a regular table. Made reservations here for Jan 1 after a movie. Walking inside you are transported back into a 1970s diner. Plenty of booths alongside windows with comfortable seating. It came with Happy Hour pricing of just $10. The plate was HUGE and it was delicious. I was so excited to try the Cajun Shrimp Pasta and when it came it looked promising. A huge bowl of pasta with shrimp floating in a yellow/gold sauce...yum. First bite, NOPE! I can't understand why restaurants serve under-seasoned dishes like this. The shrimp had no flavor, the pasta was meh and the sauce was just hot yellowy flavored water. I was so hungry I ate most of it before pushing it aside, but then I thought why not add the left over Nachos to pasta and mix it up and see what happens. Guess what? It was actually really good! Despite how crowded the place was, the bartenders were extremely attentive and friendly, and quick to get our order/refills. Tried Billy G's Finer Diner and it was fine. The atmosphere is much more casual than Billy G's Kirkwood. The cheese pizza was average. We ordered it with a mixed cheese blend so it was nice to have the option. The chicken parm sandwich was average. The coleslaw was delicious l- loved the sauce on it. The service was great though, it just only took about 25 mins for us to get our food and the server was nice. I might go back for breakfast but probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat dinner here again. For the price, I'd rather go to Billy G's Kirkwood. read more

Billy G's provides an homage to the traditional diner look with 1970s era faux paneling and 70s fall paneling and some later video game cartridges as well as 70s and 80s album covers on the walls. But, that's about it for mimicking the mom and pop places in small towns. It is a comfortable spot. Our large party of nine got excellent service and meals were terrific, rangeing from breakfast foods like ham and eggs, to lasagna, carbonara, to a Reuben sandwich. This place continues to underwhelm me. I've had breakfast many times here, only so-so, always packed for reasons I can't understand. Their food is slow to arrive at the table. We ordered a Mich Light for my wife and ice tea for me...the beer took nearly 15 minutes to arrive... said they were "busy". We then ordered one of the specials as an appetizer for the night: Mexican Street Corn with chips. Canned corn mixed with sour cream at best, no flavor, tasted like mush. Onto our mains: my wife had their house salad, but never given a choice of the dressing, despite instructions on the menu. Some kind of sloppy cream based dressing, not to her liking. I had a club sandwich on multi-grain bread with chips, which was pretty delicious. Generous portion of chips to accompany the sandwich, nothing to complain about. Total bill came to $64 dollars, ex tip for pretty mediocre food. I'm underwhelmed with this place, where I think their reputation proceeds them. I called the day before just as a reminder to make sure they would be ready for us and they were again, more than happy to help. We stopped by for a date night because we received a gift card around the time this initially opened with the moniker "finer diner". It has since dropped this from the name, but still has a lot of what made it different. To start the vibe is an interesting mix of 70s diner and contemporary styles the outcome of which didn't land with me, but I'm likely not the target audience, since I wasn't alive in the 70s and 80s. It seemed like they could not decide what they wanted to be, but clearly they are getting busy as they had a wait. We ordered the toasted ravs and trashed wings as appetizers. They weren't bad, but not great either. Toasted ravs wound up a little too toasted with some burned. For mains, I had the Reuben and my wife the meatball parm. I'm a big Reuben fan and while I loved how much they loaded it up with thinly sliced corned beef, the balance was off as it needed more sauerkraut and thousand island. The meatball parm on the other hand had really good meatballs and the right amount of sauce, but the portions was enormous. Overall service was friendly, but slow with both drinks and food. We were really surprised when we noticed the restaurant was nearly cleared out as we were wrapping up at 7:30 to discover they closed at 8. No one was going hungry, but seemed like an expensive meal for a diner. I typically order at least 1 thing that I can eat with ranch when I visit their establishments. Today, I ordered 2 things: trashed wings and a house salad, no mushroom.
