We enjoyed an evening out with a party of 4 at Parkside Grille. I removed a star because of challenges being seated. We checked in while they were crowded in the small interior space. We told the host that we would be standing on their patio since there was no place to stand inside. After waiting for about a half hour, a new person (I believe the owner) walked out and asked us what we were waiting for. We had been crossed off the list and were just standing around aimlessly for much of the time. We were seated in overflow tables outside, of which there were multiple, and we could have been seated 30 minutes prior. We were told by others in the party that checking in here is often challenging. Off to more info: The interior has a cozy upscale pub feel with sports playing on multiple TVs. There was live music last night with a $5 cover charge, which seems reasonable. The crowd is mostly older and dressed in business casual. I enjoyed the salmon tacos with a side salad. The tacos came with a fresh Sriracha-mayo (or similar) sauce and mango salsa topping. The salad had an avocado ranch dressing. I paired it with a house Pinot Grigio. The server was attentive despite the busy night at this smaller grille. Outdoor seating on the patio has a wind screen with heaters, and we could still hear the music (without being charged a cover fee, bonus). They open at 3:00 and we walked in at 3:05. Very friendly bar tender. The bar filled up with regulars pretty darn quick. Brought us water and drinks quickly. Took our order and received the food in a very timely manner. The Double Down Burger was fantastic! We split it and the Shrimp Egg Rolls with Crab Rangoon appetizer and a side of fries. So freaking good! Best burger we have had in a long time! Everything on the menu sounds great! We Definitely will be back when we are in town next time. There's a variety of options to choose from, including daily specials written on a chalkboard--don't skip these! We visited on a Thursday night, and the place was packed. While there was only one server and a food runner working, she did a great job keeping up. That said, the busy crowd could've used one more person on the floor. What we ordered: * Manhattan (4/5): Well executed and went down a little too easy. * Sausage & Fresh Mozzarella Pizza (3.75/5): STL-style thin crust with fresh mozzarella instead of provel--definitely a solid choice. Toppings were fresh. * Shaved Prime Rib Dip (4/5): Generous serving of prime rib paired with excellent creamy horseradish sauce and flavorful au-jus. I just wish the beef had been cooked to medium or medium rare instead of medium well. * Shrimp & Chicken Gumbo (4.25/5): The standout dish. A well-done roux with great gumbo texture and large, fresh shrimp. It could've used a little more kick, but hey, this is St. Louis! * Side Salad with Avocado Ranch (4/5): Loved the mixed greens topped with freshly grated cheese, onions, and tomatoes. Park side Grille is a cozy place. We got there at 5 on a Friday evening. We were quickly seated and got our menus. We each got a glass of wine. I ordered the Pub Burger and my friend ordered Walleye. It took a bit of time to get our order but it was worth it. My burger was cooked medium well just as I ordered it. My friend's walleye portion was very large and she ate about half and took the rest home. Service was pretty good. The value was reasonable, $36 before tip per person. We will return. read more

I had dinner at Parkside Grille on a Sunday evening with a group. I had never been here before. It seemed like most of the clientele were regulars. It's not a huge place and they have live music pretty regularly. I ordered one of the daily specials which was a hot salami and roast beef sandwich. It also had tomato, lettuce, red onion, and vinegar & oil? There was not a ton of explanation about it on the board but it was very good. I especially enjoyed the bread and the skinny French fries. Other orders at the table were a big salad with shrimp, a chicken cutlet special and the tacos. We all enjoyed. The service was very friendly. We'll be back. read more

If your looking for a fantastic atmosphere, full of friendly people, great service and some really phenomenal food...run, don't walk to Parkside Grill!! It's truly a neighborhood gem; located off Strecker and Clayton, next to Anniversary Park...it's off the beaten path, but truly an outstanding find! The "In your face" club is dynamite, along with the shrimp or salmon taco's. Be sure to check out their specials on the board, which always change and serve up some the best culinary delights around. Love the smaller menu, means outside the weekly specials, they only serve up what they do best. The place is small, but homey and when the weather is good, the outdoor seating is the place to be! Just get there fairly early (5ish) if you have a large party. The bar is fully stocked and the drinks are solid...was impressed with bourbon selection as well! The owner/operators are always present; which means they take pride in what they do. This is my 2nd review of Parkside, and why? This place was so quaint! It's small but it had a very homey feel about it. We waited about 20 minutes or so for a table on a Friday night. I love being around people so the crowd & wait wasn't a thing for me. There's a nice bar and lots of yummy drinks flowing. For an appetizer we had the spinach dip with crab & it was delish! For dinner,I got the beet salad with goat cheese & I added grilled shrimp. YUM! My husband got the stuffed crab sea bass & he ate everything on his plate. To top it off, they have live music. My wife and I had a LONG week so we decided to visit Parkside Grille again and it was even better than the first time. We ordered our go to Spinach and Lobster Dip which is so addicting. For our main entree, my wife ordered the Lobster club and for the price you pay for it, there was a decent amount of lobster and the fries were her favorite kind. I ordered their Roast beef special and this was enough for two people. The vegetables and roast beef were enough for 2 meals for me! I had never heard of this place nestled in the Ballwin/Wildwood area??? We met friends there mainly to listen to a band that was playing outside. Due to possible rain they played inside. I cant tell you too much about the inside other than it's pretty tight...mainly because people were there to listen to the music....and the food I imagine. They had several tables set up in the parking lot and had a small patio as well. We sat outside in the parking lot and it didn't rain, so we lucked out. So long story short, we all ordered the walleye which is not common in St. Louis. Lazy River and Yellowstone Cafe are some of the few places that I know of. It was battered and came with coleslaw. Both were good. We were able to still listen to the music, enjoy our food, and several cocktails. Definitely will be back for the music and food. Do it! read more

It's a good thing my party of three went early to this little gem of a grill. We got the last table on a Friday around 5:00. Fast and friendly service. Our drinks stayed full. Loaded Lobster Club was good. The toasted croissant bun was a nice addition. Great execution but paled in comparison to the other items ordered. Generous amount of fries as the side. Signature Pub Burger was delicious on a brioche bun. Too many fries to eat...not a bad thing. The favorite thing ordered (we all tried everything) was the BBQ/Buffalo Chicken Flatbread. had a kick but not overly so. Generous size. Absolutely delicious. Outside seating was available but just a table or two. This out of the way place has made a name for itself and drew a crowd. The live musicians were setting up as we left. This is one restaurant I want to come back to for sure Update July 2022 From five stars to two...and two because service was good. I doubt I come back. Split two entrees and neither had flavor. No one is tasting this food before serving, in my opinion. Fries had flavor but only because they were over salted. Lobster sandwich had no flavor...strongest flavor on sandwich was the tomato. Pub burger...burger not well seasoned and I couldn't taste the cheese. Even the onion rings we left on the plate as they were well breaded with a bland no/not enough salt breading. Late lunch because they open 3:00. Loaded Lobster club with excellent French fries and fantastic key lime pie! Not many places locally serving Maine lobster, tossed in aioli sauce with pepper bacon, avocado wedges, sliced tomato and lettuce on a toasted croissant bun. Absolute delicious! A bar/pub atmosphere but I wish they opened earlier for lunch as we have a group of us that meet monthly for lunch. I know everyone would enjoy this place tucked away at Clayton Rd and Strecker. The food is very delicious, but the service average and the restaurant is extremely loud. Add onto that live musicians and our table of four made it nearly impossible to communicate with friends. We literally literally had to shout and read lips to hear each other. Overall the experience is 4 stars, but they need to look into expanding their menu & improving food execution, along with service. Pros: Close to our neighborhood Live music Blue moon on draft Cute exterior & quaint (although loud) interior with some nice lighting Voodoo shrimp dish best thing on the menu so far we've found. You get about 8 shrimp (didn't exactly count) - they are cooked well & sitting in this amazing spicy cream sauce. The menu calls it a Dijon sauce, but don't worry - if you're like me & not really a fan of mustard tasting things, you can't actually taste any mustard in this. It is served with a little rice in the center & 2 very tasty pieces of garlic bread. My only complaint would be the price. $18 for this dish seems pretty high. Cons: Not a huge variety on the menu - mostly salad & burger options with a few other plates that are mostly sandwiches. I got the burger last night & it was nothing special. My homemade burgers at home are much better. I also got the warm peach crisp dessert special last night. It was good - but nothing more advanced than what I could do in my own kitchen. I wouldn't order it again esp at a price point of $9. They do have nightly specials as well, but I've gotten 2 of their specials before & they weren't great (crab & shrimp risotto - risotto was undercooked & under seasoned and a pork dish which was really dry). We saw the tacos come out last night - looked like 2 tacos & a side salad for $18 which is outrageous so I probably wouldn't try those. Also wouldn't try the salmon melt because cheese doesn't go with fish. Of the apps, I've had the lobster spinach artichoke dip before & that was pretty good along with the voodoo shrimp I mentioned above which is awesome. My husband likes the meatballs, but they are way too dense & dry for me & the Marinara is more spicy than sweet. The above is a summary of the few visits I've had here - all this to say that I'm still trying to find a "go to" menu option for when I want to eat here. I'm more reluctant to dine at a place where I have trouble finding something to order & know it will be good. Also reluctant to eat somewhere where the food quality does not justify the prices. They also seem way understaffed as well & not just due to covid either. The place is always packed & we normally have to wait awhile to get seated even when tables are open & wait awhile to order once we are seated. I want to love this place because it is so close, has live music, & has my favorite beer on tap (blue moon), but we just don't come here a lot due to the food & prices. read more

Way out in West County at the end of Clayton you'll find a little joint with good, no great eats and really solid food. The PSG offers delicious varieties of sandwiches and salads and some rocking appetizers. Wednesday thru Sunday they have live music out on the parking lot. There's a $5 buck cover for music nights but you won't mind as the music and food are great. My lady and I have been a couple of times. The owners are friendly and the staff is attentive, the crowd is a mix of WestCo families and affluent who come in driving convertibles, classic cars and high end suburban grocery getters. I loved the pot stickers both times I ordered them. I've had the lobster sandwich and the shrimp tacos and both were very good. My lady enjoyed the beet salad and then on our second trip she loved, I mean loved the chicken club sandwich. We've been repeat customers since they opened several years ago. I understand small businesses are struggling, but I was a little shocked to discover a new required $5 cover charge for live music (which are booked during prime dining hours) as well as a new 20% unchangeable gratuity added to all online orders. I placed an online order for pickup that added the 20% gratuity that could not be edited (you could only add an additional tip). It does not mention anywhere that it will add gratuity; it only asks you how much tip you want to add- sneaky. When I arrived for my order, it was *extremely* loud inside from the deafening music and it was not very busy. I arrived early, and the bar staff knew I was there for my online order. They were 15 mins late. Even more frustrating though was that my order sat packed up on the shelf while the bartender bussed empty, dirty tables and got herself a glass of wine with ice. A Friend suggested this place as it has live music so we joined another couple around 5pm for Happy Hour/Dinner and then stayed for the show that started around 6pm. The entertainment was excellent and as we had sat away from band we were able to enjoy the music and still converse with one another. Service by Heather was excellent and attentive. My wife and I shared the potsticker appetizer and really enjoyed them. There were six, they were large and were served with a sesame dipping sauce. For my entree I got the Lobster Sandwich. I really took a chance getting this in the middle of Missouri, but my gamble paid off....it was delicious. The lobster meat was fresh and sweet tasting, it was accompanied by two slices of thick pepper back and some slices of avocado....sounds a bit strange, but it worked. Big fan of the music and musicians, spent lots of money here, owner was never nice, even after giving her $100 cash one time just to reserve a table...finally got fed up and left a note on my receipt, and instead of the owner ever caring or being nice or understanding, I was banned from the place...for being honest after spending thousands of dollars there over the past few years. I have spoken to numerous other people that feel the same about the owner's angry, impatient attitude....never ever heard a thanks for being a patron. Now I can't go see Rocky and Teddy and the rest, but I was done with the consistently poor attitude of the owner, seemingly always annoyed and irritated. The parking lot was full, but there was a spot on the backside of the restaurant. I parked there as there was no indication anywhere you could not. There was someone parked next to my car, so it was a legitimate spot. We walked in, and it was crowded! Only one table left, we took it. No one greeted us, we just snatched it, then asked at the bar if it was OK. They indicated yes. A friend in my group stepped outside to see if there was seating there. Two separate parties outside thought she worked there and asked her for menus and to be seated! The bartender/server was busting her butt and we had to ask the one busser that was working if we could order drinks and get menus. The bartender/server came over and took care of us. She was very nice, also apologetic, and clearly overloaded with duties, made even more obvious when two random patrons jumped on my friend for help! There was another woman you would see behind the bar, but I did not witness her really jumping in to help. Stay tuned for more on her, as she is the reason for the review! I ordered the Salmon Melt with Sweet Potato Fries, delicious! I think everyone in our party enjoyed their food. We asked to get our bill, paid, and left the restaurant. Walked out to my car, and a teal Jeep Rubicon had parked DIRECTLY behind me, completely blocking us in. There was a door to the kitchen right there, my friend stuck her head in and inquired about the car. The gentleman she spoke to said, "I know exactly whose car that is. " He left to get her and a blonde woman came out and said, "You took my spot!" My friends and I said something about, why would you do that? And no where does it say reserved. I asked her point blank, "Are you the owner?" She said, "Absolutely not." Well, needless to say, at that point we left the restaurant upset and realizing that no matter how the food was, how nice the server was ( because we couldn't fix her being overworked) and lastly, how great the entertainment was ( wish I said more on that, he was great, but not the point of the review) We will never go back. Had no clue that this restaurant existed, very happy that it came up on my Yelp feed. We unfortunately were the only patrons in the restaurant. You need to add this to your list of places to visit if you haven't already. I had the prime rib sandwich with came with homemade horseradish sauce and some delicious shoestring fries. My wife had the Cobb salad. Both meals were had generous portions. To top it off l; the chef came out to see how everything was and gave us a slice of homemade key lime pie.
