Super cute space, kind of rustic with bookshelves and books placed throughout. They have a big bar and offer a small room for a group. Our server was great, she was friendly and efficient. They have some unique offerings, and I have been eyeing the chicken and waffles online. Shared that and Avocado Toast with no Feta one of my daughters in attendance. Had a bite of my other daughter's chorizo biscuits and gravy. I liked the pearl sugar waffle and the chicken tender, I was glad to have gotten the sauce on the side, it was too sweet for me. My wife and I spent three days in St. Charles, Missouri, and we were excited to return to Novellus. We visited around the same time last year and had a great experience, so we were really looking forward to coming back. I normally don't like leaving negative reviews, but something felt different this time. When we walked in there was only one other couple dining, and there was noticeable clutter sitting in the corners of the restaurant. It gave the place a different feel than what we remembered from our last visit. I ordered the Creole Breakfast Gravy. The biscuit itself was excellent--light, fluffy, and exactly how a biscuit should be. Unfortunately the gravy was disappointing. It tasted more like regular sausage gravy with a heavy amount of cayenne pepper and Cajun seasoning added to it. The flavors just didn't balance well. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict. One poached egg was perfect, but the other came out over medium. That's something a trained chef normally wouldn't send out, and it made me feel like the kitchen might have a cook working the line rather than a chef overseeing the dishes. I do want to say the waitress was phenomenal. She was very attentive, friendly, and always made sure our coffee stayed fresh and hot. Her service was definitely the highlight of the visit. We will likely come back again because we know this restaurant can do better. Hopefully the kitchen can correct a few things and bring the consistency back. read more

Nice little place in St. Charles on Main Street. Great place to grab a bite. The greeter was friendly and teased with us about our Ohio State shirts. Wait for a table wasn't very long either, maybe 5 minutes. The food was nice, but the frisco melt burger that I tried didn't have any seasoning and just felt very dry, the fries were really well seasoned though. What a great place on North Main Street. The aesthetics are warm and inviting inside. There are books everywhere if you choose to read! You can do breakfast or lunch on the weekdays, so we did one of each. Great service attentive and gave great recommendations on the food. First up mocktails, after all, it's only 11 AM. icy cold for a hot day and very flavorful. We did the main breakfast and the turkey club. The food is huge so glad we did not eat breakfast before we came. I had the breakfast. The eggs were perfect , bacon delicious, loved their potatoes, and a huge biscuit that came with jam. My friend had the turkey club with fries and that did not disappoint, she had to take part of it home. Very very filling food offers;this is a great place to sit and visit , eat a little something. A couple of things here made it a FIVE STAR experience for me. First of all, the service was FANTASTIC! We were a group of 8, and our server stayed on top of EVERYthing. We did NOT get charged an automatic 20% tip, so I tipped even higher. Secondly, when they spice things, they do an awesome job. So many time, all the spice is in the NAME of the item, instead of in the food. NOT here! My Bloody (spice level 6 out of 10) was PERFECT and the Creole Style Biscuits and Gravy were DELICIOUS!!! My wife and I went back to Novellus for lunch. We sat at the bar and ordered a Riverside Omelet and Fire Honey Crispy Chicken sandwich. Both were very good. The service was good and the bartenders were good about talking to us. She gave us a sample of several of the beers that were on tap right in front of us. Main Street breakfast is the way to go, in my humble opinion. I have came here for all big life events. Libby is my favorite bartender, she is so wonderful and helpful. She does great with all customers and her bar knowledge. Abbie is my favorite server if I don't sit at the bar, but I have never had bad service ever here. All workers are hard workers and so helpful and kind. I love Joe the owner he is a local man who supports local schools and businesses which I love! The ambiance is so cozy, from the tables in the window to the cute tables near the books, or comfy chairs up front. I enjoy attending for bottomless mimosas. And sadly so far I've only had brunch but I am so excited to try their Italian cuisine that they serve for dinner!! Breakfast outing on a beautiful Sunday morning. Walked right in and was greeted promptly and offered a table immediately with no wait! That is unheard of! Off to the table we went. So many varied options to choose from on their menu. We decided on the Early Riser Flatbread, Crab Cake Benedict and the Creole Style Biscuits and Gravy. Our selections arrived quickly to our table. The flatbread was amazing with what looked to be a homemade crust and the flavor was outstanding. Crab Cake Benedict was beautiful with a perfect hollandaise that ran down onto two large crab cakes. If you like spicy you will have to try the Creole Style biscuits and gravy. I can't explain the flavor, spicy but didn't "burn". Definitely a meal I would try again. Visiting our bestie for her birthday, and we went to Novellus for a Saturday mimosa brunch. The service was great as our server was really sweet and attentive. We definitely kept her busy with the bottomless mimosas, as they have so many flavors to choose from. Along with the standard OJ and champagne, they also have peach, cranberry, grapefruit, and a few more. We also loved the food as well. The breakfast pizza was a great starter, and the Cajun pasta was very spicy and delicious! The Nashville chicken tenders were tasty, and the mini waffles that it came with were delicious as well. The ambiance was casual but stylish. We met the owner and although he told us how much he seemingly dislikes Yelp, and Californians (which 3 of us are) as he jokingly remarked, it was still a 5 star experience for us. Hubby ordered the traditional benedict with an additional side of biscuits and gravy. The home fries were so good - very crispy which we liked. The egg was a bit overcooked, and I didn't like the sausage gravy but Hubby did. I think that was more of a preference, a seasoning that I didn't love. Hubby also ordered a vanilla latte and enjoyed it as well. I was torn and asked the waitress their favorite dish and that's how I ended up ordering the cajun pasta - order this! It was delicious! The sauce was a great texture and the spice was on point! The shrimp and andouille were both cooked perfectly. Okay this place is a gem. We came here after walking the beautiful Main Street. Immediately was greeted with the friendliest and warm hello. We came during a time when it was not super busy so they were able to seat us quickly. What I loved was our server was beyond friendly and helpful. I believe her name was Sarah but that could be wrong. She helped us by giving amazing recommendations but also pointed out some fun things to do in town. We started out with the breakfast flatbread, the concept was interesting and to my surprise it was fantastic. I had the chicken and waffles, which I ordered Nashville hot and it was absolutely delicious. The waffle batter was also well flavored. My fiancé tried the Cajun pasta which was very tasty and had a nice kick. We chose the unlimited mimosa option and tried almost every flavor they offered. My favorite was the grapefruit. Walking along Main Street in search of breakfast - specifically bacon (aka life) and happened upon this spot. WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE! My aunt and I were seated quickly, and within minutes we had steaming cups of coffee in front of us, and our order had been taken. Not too long thereafter we had our food - cooked to perfection! And the prices are very reasonable. And what a cool vibe the place has. The dark walls and numerous metal shelves filled with books and Knick knacks give off a hip coffeehouse effect.
