I had the Hello Sweetie Refresher and a couple of macarons, and I'll come back and try more of their menu. The price is good, and the staff is super friendly. Easy to miss. Lydia's Café is in a prime spot right along the Riverwalk in St. Charles, which immediately makes it an appealing place to stop and relax. They're open late on weekends (until 11pm), which is a nice bonus since many cafés close early. The space is nicely decorated with a cozy, welcoming ambiance, and they even have games available if you want to hang out with friends for a while. We visited on a Saturday around 2pm and ordered a regular latte, drip coffee, and a slice of cheesecake. Unfortunately, the coffee was the weakest part of the experience. The beans had a noticeably sour taste, and the latte itself felt a bit weak and lacking in richness. The cheesecake was decent--nothing extraordinary--but the slice was very generous in size. On the positive side, the service was friendly and attentive. Lydia's also seems to offer more than just a typical café experience. They occasionally host fun activities like cake decorating classes, and they promote catering services for weddings and celebrations, which could make it a versatile venue for events. Overall, Lydia's has a great location and a pleasant atmosphere for hanging out by the river. With some improvement to the coffee quality, it could easily become a standout café in the area. Came here because I saw it on Instagram and it's so cute! They do such a good job with their social media. Came here on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy around noon. The workers were all really nice and helped me pick out a good drink. Everything came out quick and I had no wait in line. Got two coffees, a cookie and a cupcake. I know there's several good places in St Charles, but coming from SoCo, that's a bit of a hike - so that's my excuse for not making it here until now. Let me tell you, it is worth the drive. Super friendly and patient staff, which is good, because there are so many delicious looking sweets on display. I ended up with a delicious scone and a bourbon flavored cold brew. It had a longer name, but bourbon was the dominant flavor, which is something you rarely see around here. Even though I mostly drove there for the coffee, it is that cheddar everything scone that will keep me coming back. So unexpectedly good. Lydia's has quickly become one of my absolute favorite coffee shops in St. Charles! The vibe here is so inviting--plenty of seating, easy parking, and the kind of atmosphere that works just as well for a solo work session as it does for catching up with friends. I could even see it being a fun spot for a bachelorette brunch. The drinks are excellent--I've tried the brown sugar latte, s'mores latte, and strawberry shortcake latte, and all three were terrific. They've got a great variety, so it's fun to mix it up each visit. The chocolate chip cookies deserve a special shoutout too...honestly some of the best I've ever had. The staff is always so sweet and helpful, especially when it comes to recommending baked goods. You can tell they actually enjoy making sure you leave happy. This place is so cute! I have heard of Lydia's and I have been wanting to try it and my friend and I finally got to. We went on a Wednesday and at first we were the only ones in there but then it really started to pick up. To drink I got the Lydia special latte with almond milk and to eat I got a bacon, cedar, ranch pastry. For the pastry the lady at checkout told me what it was but I forgot. My latte was really good and the pastry was delicious. It was really light and fluffy and the perfect little breakfast. I also really liked the flavors in the latte, they were Carmel and vanilla. Here's something I love: stuffing my face with a giant slice of cheesecake while the crossfit gym people next door run around the parking lot. I also love that they stylize their name the same way I do, with a big flourish on the "L" I've been twice now, and both times were delightful. I visited LYDIA'S today and absolutely loved it! I don't know if it was their vibe, their drinks, or just the friends I went with, but it was a time I want to do all over! I'm not a big sweets person, so didn't get any desserts, but their drinks were perfect. Not super sweet and refreshing. I gave up coffee for lent so I didn't get to try their coffee this time around, but it looked delicious and they have monthly specials. I just hope I can make it in time by Easter to try their Lucky Charms Latte! They had some games to play there, too. This sweet spot is located in an unassuming spot between Main Street St. Charles and the Family Arena. There is a large, shared parking lot with 3 parking spots dedicated for 10 minute to-go spots. I visited Lydia's with Lydia C and another friend not because of Lydia's name, but because someone else recommended it. I loved pretty much everything about Lydia. The decor/design/colors. This was a very cute place, a place that I want to come back to when I have more time to explore more. With my GPS I drove right by it the first time only to turn around and pull in. Driving by you don't spot the café right off the bat. It is at the end of a big building that has a few different shops. It is tucked back in the corner right next to CrossFit. I must admit, it was quite amusing to sit outside with my mocktail and cookie and watch the CrossFit people running back-and-forth next-door, with the music blasting. Hands-down, the place is adorable! There were about five tables for outdoor seating. The one thing I noticed is that when people left, they left their cocktail glasses, dirty plates, etc. right outside and they were still all there when I left about 35 minutes later. I brought cup and plate in when I decided to go back in to bring some treats home. They have a decent selection of pastries from scones, huge cookies, (I had the brookie....delicious!) cookies and cream cheesecake (which was gluten free), mini cakes, cupcakes, brownies and more! Their menu had a variety of coffees and lattes. They also have a bar there where you can order cocktails, seltzers, beers, spritzes, wine and mocktails. I ordered a blackberry mocktail. The berries sat atop the glass on a cute toothpick adorned with a little pearl bead. It was a nice touch! It was also delicious! On the way out I ordered a carrot cake cupcake, one of their mini cakes and the cheesecake. I definitely want to come back and bring some of my girlfriends. It is very close to the AMC movie theater so it would also be a perfect place to stop before or after a movie. With indoor and outdoor seating is perfect place all year round. My book club picked Lydia's for our September meeting and it is going to become a regular in our rotation! The treats were incredible - the pumpkin roll that is currently on the menu was gone in less than 5 minutes! The coffee was delicious and not overly sweet which is a huge win in my book. The spritz's were worth the price and that is not something I say often! Finally, the scones were delightful - the perfect balance of crumbly but not dry that I did not know was possible. This spot was perfect for sitting and chatting with friends and despite staying for a while we never felt like we were taking up space too long. I saw on Facebook that Lydia's had opened recently. It's tucked away on the River rd near a CrossFit gym. I imagine a large part of the business is selling coffee to gym people. The place is well decorated and the few pastries they had mid morning on a Monday looked nice. I ordered a hot tea and an oatmeal cream pie to-go. Took a long time to put that tea bag in a cup of hot water. The oatmeal cream pie was frozen. It never occurred to me that was a possibility. Later when it thawed out it was good but not fresh. What an absolute gem of a find! Just slightly off the beaten path in St. Charles. Definitely worth the trip no matter what part of the metro area you're visiting from. The team is so warm and welcoming. They took the time to go review their menu and multitude of coffee, cocktail, and baked good options. I like to try as many options as I can to give a thorough and well rounded review. I visited in the afternoon and decided a cocktail would probably be best. I highly recommend the jalapeño mule. Just the perfect amount of heat and lime. My companion went with an iced coffee. The seasonal flavor was a lucky charms latte. It was a little sweet for my taste but delicious nonetheless. As for baked goods, we tried both the savory and sweet rolls. The chicken bacon ranch was packed full of chicken cheese and bacon. The strawberry roll was a perfect springtime treat. The cake pucks are their take on a cake pop. In fairness, it's a disservice to compare this delightful cake to a cake pop. The quality of the cake is phenomenal along with the coating of white chocolate and the intricate design work. The fruit crumble was also a fantastic choice. The rich butteriness of the topping was superb. We also picked up a couple of cupcakes. The cake was the same quality as the cake puck. The cake was tender and delicious. I appreciate the versatility of this space. They are open in the morning through mid evening making it perfect for any time of day.
