We had excellent service and a solid meal at Napoli Sea last weekend. While I wasn't as impressed with my meal as I've been at the other Napoli restaurants, Napoli Sea is an excellent date night option for seafood within the St. Charles area and worth a visit! We started with the charbroiled oysters. I ordered the scampi shrimp special from the daily offerings. The shrimp were massive and plump, with light breading and lemon flavor. They were accompanied with asparagus and scalloped potatoes, which made for a light, fresh meal. The others at my table had the daily ahi tuna special and the chicken Parmesan, which they both enjoyed. As always with Napoli restaurants, the cocktail program was top notch. I wasn't blown away with anything in particular, but I'll blame our selections and will likely return again to try more of the menu. read more

An absolute wonderful experience! Arrived after work during Coastal Hour (Happy Hour) around 6p on a Thurs and had my pick of the Bar seats. Hayden, on staff, was an absolute joy! Super friendly and very knowledgeable! True to Napoli's style, Service was top notch! Pretzel Bread service to kick things off, served with Spicy Mustard and Spicy Queso, both delicious. I'd have to say the queso was my favorite, but... we'll yeah it's cheese! Hayden let me taste the Sauvignon Blanc on happy hour and while it wasn't unenjoyble, I went with the non-happy hour Reisling for the win, which was delicious! Coastal Hour Crispy Rock Shrimp as an appetizer, which is about 1/2 the dinner size and perfect as a starter or even as a meal with a soup or salad. Really nice breading on the shrimp, not too thick. Good flavor on the sauce, not spicy. For the entree, Louisiana style Halibut with Crawfish and Cajun Sauce, Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. The plate comes out piping hot, please don't touch. I even had to cool off each bite of food. Well balanced flavors, cooked perfectly. No room for dessert, so I settled on the Smores Martini which was an amazing dessert choice. This was among the worst seafood I've had in my life. Everything was tasteless and smothered in sauce to hide the fact that it was not fresh. 4 piece shrimp cocktail ($28): the shrimp were huge firm and completely lacking the subtle sweet flavor of fresh shrimp. The server brings the day's fish options out for you to see and explains their source, a nice touch. I chose tuna in sesame crust. It was cooked medium (great) but came smothered in a sickly sweet red sauce with hint of wasabi. Eating a few pieces from the end confirmed that the tuna wasn't fresh either. If you are going to charge more than $100 for an app and a main the seafood should be high quality and the preparation should showcase its natural flavor. Service was attentive. read more

Wow!! First time my husband and I visited this restaurant for date night, and we absolutely loved it! The atmosphere where we were seated was cozy, intimate, and romantic perfect for a special evening together. Carmi, our server, was phenomenal! This is one of my husband's all time favorite places to dine. He loves that they bring the food out on a tray so he can see the fish before he orders. We have learned so much from our servers about the fish and the best way to prepare it. The specials are truly special here! We always make a reservation, because we would be heartbroken if we had our hearts set on coming here and they were full! Both of us love the concoctions that the barkeep makes, but we both adore their Old Fashioneds. First off I want to give huge kudos to Chris who was our waiter. I haven't experience such amazing customer service like his in a long time. Extremely enthusiastic, very knowledgeable about the entire menu, a showman with the table side items and overall did whatever he could to make sure we had a great girls night out. Napoli sea should be proud to have him as an outstanding employee. Now onto the other items! A very reasonable priced seafood restaurant for being in a landlocked city like St. Louis. They bring out a board of all their fresh seafood from around the world. If there is a seafood item you want this place will have it! This particular night we tried oysters octopus and ceviche for apps, halibut Seabass, and tuna for me, and my friends split the banana fosters while I opted for the s'mores martini with a homemade marshmallow. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Haven't had asparagus cook that well at a restaurant probably ever. The drinks were very well crafted and seasonal and of generous proportions. When you walk in, you are transformed into an underwater oasis. Interactive movie on one wall and port holes all around take you to an underwater Mecca. A large bar area along with some tables upstairs I would highly recommend a reservation to make sure you get a seat. What an incredible surprise! I'd walked by this place a few times, and while I saw how nice it looked I had no idea about the incredible food and excellent service. Definite "Stars of the Game" situation, boys. To start, the cocktail menu is deep with creative and traditional options, as well as numerous mocktails. The menu doesn't hide from its strengths, though one can see how several of the options are offered for people on business dinners (I'm looking at you, Various seafood towers). The grilled octopus was a delight for a start, charred perfectly with a few tastes and potatoes to help bring out the flavors. The fillet-in-front-you Dover Sole was so light, so tasty, and four filets strong. The recommended sauce was the right accent without overwhelming the taste. It went something like this: service-5+ stars, ambiance and decor 4.5 stars and cuisine is broken down as follows: crispy rice Napoli appetizer 5 stars, wedge salad with bacon 5 stars, bread service with spicy mustard or cheese 5 stars, filet mignon with lump crab 5 stars, but the Alaskan halibut-3 stars. The reason for downgrading the fresh fish item ($65) was that it was either overcooked or not as fresh as advertised because the texture was neither firm and flaky, but instead was more "mushy." The asparagus and potatoes accompanying both entrees were very good. The gelato for dessert was a 5 star. Overall, a very good experience, but not in the exceptional category. read more

We got the tuna crispy rice and some caviar for our starters. For our entrees we both got a daily special. It could have used a bit more sauce but overall they were both delicious. The ambiance overall was very relaxing with a beautiful and large video screen of an aquarium on the wall. Our waitstaff, Courtney was amazing, she was warm, friendly and made us feel like we were at home. had (2) classic martinis with olives, both were outstanding. We were served warm bread, which was similar to pretzels with a butter sauce--Delicious. I ordered the chargrilled octopus as an appetizer, the sauce and drizzle of the lemon just made the flavors explode in my mouth! I had a filet of sole with crab topping and a remoulade type sauce. This was simply outstanding. It is an ample portion size. My husband had the Dover Sole which was deboned at our table side. He loved it. We had a chocolate tower cake. This was also delicious. Dinner here was pretty spectacular. This new version of Napoli is a hit and different from the others. Menu is broad and extensive with different seafood dishes. I had the seafood risotto and it was awesome. Mixed in a whole parmesan wheel and scrapped to get that parm goodness into the dish. Large portion that is easy to share. Recommended actually imo. For the mains, they bring out a tray of fresh seafood to choose from: halibut, Chilean Sea Bass, lobster tails, Bay Scallops, Yellowfin Tuna, Dover Sole and probably a few I forgot to list. Each selection looked terrific, nice and large, sure to satisfy any appetite. I chose the Yellow fin Tuna, almost fist sized and cooked rare, to my liking. I had it with their Sauce Veirge, a lemon based sauce with sun dried tomatoes & herbs, Absolutely delicious! My wife opted for their Miso salad as her main, very tasty. Service was terrific, we refilled our drinks once and had water on the side. Napoli Sea is the perfect date night / special occasion spot, considering it's definitely on the pricier side. Every dish we had was packed with flavor and tasted fresh. We started off with the calamari, which came with two sauces. The pretzel sticks with cheese / mustard for dipping were given complimentary. The sea bass was my favorite and the lemon butter sauce on top really complimented the fish. The ahi tuna was also delicious with a sesame crust. Overall, the seafood here is hands down some of the best that I've had in the STL area and I like that you're able to choose which fish and which sauce you want to pair it with.
