I love Texan BBQ since i grew up there and visit often so I'm glad I have a place to go for it at O'B Que's. I ordered a 2-meat platter with burnt ends that were phenomenal and the smoked habanero turkey that was moist and delicious and the spicy BBQ sauce adding a nice little zing. I was a little disappointed that the place didn't offer cornbread or Texas toast with the platter and I didn't think to ask until after I got my food. Sides were good and I thought the baked beans were very good but the Mac n Cheese was a little too cheese-whizzy for me and wasn't too crazy about it but will get potato salad next time. Also I'll try their brisket on the next visit l since that's my measure of truly great Texas style BBQ. It's kind of an odd setup for a restaurant since it's inside a service station but it's a really nice service station and the restaurants decor is pretty nice. I'd give it 4.5 stars if they allowed it, but will go with 5 stars for now. read more

I ordered takeout online for the first time- super easy process. The food was delicious. I got the half a rack of ribs with the sweet BBQ, thick, flavorful and perfectly cooked. The baked beans were yummy, the coleslaw was average, and the potato salad was yummy but not memorable. The downside was the staff. While I waited, they were eating and not very business place. I also tried the drive thru, but waited for about 10 minutes with no response, so I went inside. Great food, but the overall experience definitely could use some improvement. read more

This is one of my favorite BBQ places in stl. Their turkey is always cooked perfectly, moist, and well seasoned. The Mac and cheese is VERY cheesy and my wife and kids love it. I like their baked beans as well. When they have jalapeño cornbread, that is a must get item. Nothing else like it. I could eat it all day. My wife loves the potato salad too. I got take away from here because I was in the area and wanted some barbecue...I'm so glad that I went! I got the three meat platter that had chicken, pulled pork, and ribs. The seasoning here is wonderful and all of the meat was perfectly cooked. I was pleasantly surprised to get the chicken still on the bone, I was anticipating pulled chicken because that's usually what other places seem to have, but this kept it way more moist! I even liked their spicy barbecue sauce, and I usually skip barbecue sauce because it's usually too thick. For my sides, I got the mac & cheese and the potato salad. Potato salad is total fire, highly highly recommend! I love that they used sliced potatoes instead of big chunks of them. Mac & cheese was good considering how much cheese sauce was on it. I realize I'm strange and prefer a more dry mac & cheese, unlike the normal population, but this cheese sauce was flavorful enough where I didn't mind it too much. Again, a normal person would love this. It was kind of a weird vibe when I entered to pick up my food because they were filming something, but the staff who weren't doing that were all super friendly! I went for the burnt ends, pulled pork, with potato salad and vinegar slaw. Burnt ends pretty good, good crust. Pulled pork a little on dry side, but good smoke and seasoning. Vinegar slaw excellent. The winner for me were the homemade sweet sauce and the spicy sauce - sweet sauce had a good amount of molasses; spicy sauce was vinegar based with the right amount of heat. Excellent prices. Hubby and I were craving some Bar-B-Que, and have been hearing nothing but good things about this place. We decided to venture to Chesterfield to give it a try. First impression, I almost passed up the building as it is connected to a gas station and a car wash, and the parking lot entrance is easy to miss, so I bypassed it and had to turn around. There's plenty of parking outside the building. Once you get inside, there are about 5 booths, and 2 high top tables. So there's limited seating inside. There are a few tables outside you can sit at during the warmer weather. You order your food at the counter and the menu is on the wall. It's a pretty straight forward menu, and no pricing is listed. The cashier was friendly and answered all the questions we had, the young man that brought our food out was polite and friendly as well. My husband and I decided to order two combos. I ordered two meats: Brisket and ribs with two sides Mac n cheese and baked beans. Hubby ordered three meats: Smoked turkey, brisket and ribs, with two sides: Mac n cheese and baked beans. We also ordered a small order of the dirty chicken. All the meats were delicious and Cooked to perfection. The ribs were tender and easily fell off the bone. The brisket was so tender, seasoned to perfection and not fatty or greasy. The brisket and ribs were my absolute favourite. I'm not a big turkey eater, but my husband said it was good. The mac n cheese and baked beans I did not like. The mac n cheese noodles seemed to be undercooked. They were still a little hard. They had a texture to them that I didn't like. Came here early afternoon for lunch. It's small inside and attached to a gas station. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is up on a board and you order at the register. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately they didn't have the menu item I wanted available which was a bummer. We ordered the brisket sandwich with coleslaw, burnt ends flat bread, and the wings with Mac & cheese. I just wasn't a fan of the food. The Mac was tasteless noodles way overdone, brisket had nice color on it but again the flavor was missing. The flatbread was almost like a cracker and also lacked the flavor you'd expect from bbq. Stopped by O'B Que's on a weeknight. There were two other tables. Several people came in for carryout while I was there. I ordered the Burnt Ends Flatbread and a side of French Fries. This is owned by the same people who own O'B Clarks on Brentwood and the pizza crust tasted the same to me. It was a rectangular St. Louis style crust with BBQ sauce, cheese, and burnt ends. Pretty simple but I thought it was very crisp and tasty even though they're not making the crust. I liked the BBQ sauce and the meat. The French fries were your basic bagged crinkle cut and cooked slightly under in my opinion. Cons: There are only about 5-6 tables. While I was there 3 of the tables were dirty and no one ever came out to clean them off. They serve the pizza in a pizza box. You might even say I'm a BBQ snob as I'm pretty picky about the BBQ establishment I consider returning to. I've eaten BBQ in probably 20 or more states as it, along with Texmex, are my favorite foods to eat out. This place is a no nonsense place. The food is top notch. What a nice find tucked In between a gas station and a car wash. When you walk in though it's like no other gas station food. Decorated very stylishly, the large menu written in chalk gives you all the info you need. I had the Burnt Ends and wife got a 1/2 rack of pork ribs. My ends were a mix of chunky great tasting beef and crispy bits. The Mac and Cheese was very cheesy and the potato salad was good. While my wife's ribs were huge and meaty, they were not drop off the bone cooked. They were still very tasty. They only had two choices of sauces which was a little disappointing. Oh my goodness - hands down the best turkey I've ever had from any BBQ place anywhere! It was so moist and perfectly seasoned. It is the only turkey where you can literally taste a strong smoke flavor - tasted like it was smoked with some type of cherry or apple briquettes. I cannot wait to go back for the turkey! I got the sweet BBQ sauce and it was excellent! It wasn't overly sweet and it was jam packed with seasonings. Even though the turkey didn't need sauce, the sauce took both meats to a whole new level of flavor. I got the 2 meat combo plate, so I also got the brisket with 2 sides being mac & cheese and baked beans. The brisket was good, but not overly moist and kinda plain on seasoning and not a lot of smoke flavor when compared to the hero which was the turkey. The mac & cheese was so unbelievably creamy, and the cheese sauce actually tasted like a beer cheese sauce. It was a very strong beer flavor, so took me a minute to get used to it. The noodles were thick and spiraled, which really helped all the luscious cheesy sauce stick to them. The beans weren't really my thing - they were cooked with green peppers, which overpowered the dish for me. All I could taste was green peppers. The meat in the beans was also a bit chewy. The beans weren't really sweet or spicy - kinda just normal with a strong green pepper flavor. I tried a bit of my husband's cornbread, it was interesting. The place is on one end of a convenience store so don't expect a lot from ambiance but it's really clean and neat. It's an order at counter spot and they bring the food out to you. The person that took my order was nice and did a good job. Person who brought my food out asked me if I wanted to try anything else. I said I didn't order brisket, could you bring me a small piece of brisket. He brought me about 1/4 lb of brisket. Then made sure I had both sauces so I could try both. I had ordered 1/4 rib plate with an additional 1/4 lb of turkey with vinegar slaw and potato salad. Ribs were good. Seasoned well. Great but not overly smokey flavor. Moist and tender. Good even without sauce. Turkey was also well seasoned and had good smoke flavor and was both moist and tender. Brisket was tender but not falling apart but pulled apart like you would expect it too. It was moist and also had a good seasoned smokey flavor. I tried both sauces their sweet and spicy on all three meats. I really liked the spicy sauce. It had great tangy flavor and just the right heat but not too much. However, I just didn't care for the sweet sauce. But I'm not a sweet sauce person so I'm sure that's a personal taste thing. The sides were reasonably good but not memorable. I'll likely try some other sides the next time I stop by. Service alone is reason enough to go back. But the Que is good enough to bring me back as well. I look forward to getting back again. If I could give a 4.5 I would. Half point deduction because sides weren't memorable and there weren't a couple additional sauces... say a South Carolina mustard sauce or eastern North Carolina vinegar sauce. Counter service restaurant in a space attached to a carwash/gas station. But what do you need for BBQ, when most people order takeout anyway? If you do dine in, as we did, your food still comes packaged for takeout. St. Louis has some quality barbecue choices, so this is a tough market to stand out in. O'B Que's does a good job, if not necessarily the tip top of the heap. We ordered a three meat plate (comes with two sides) for lunch. There was enough that only one plate was needed for the two of us. Pulled pork was excellent. The meat is almost buttery tender, and mixes so well in its own flavorful, succulent juices that it's better to not adulterate it with barbecue sauce. Burnt ends were also excellent. Small cut pieces with a pretty thick bark & char on multiple sides. So they really are burnt - but also tender with rendered fat. The peppery bark is well moderated with a dip into the barbecue sauce. Brisket was good, if just a tiny bit plain for my preference. It was also quite lean, which generally is something one prefers - but in this case, some fat could have added flavor. For sides, I had read elsewhere that the potato salad and mac 'n cheese were the better choices, so that's what we got. Potato salad is to be recommended, a dense & peppery mix. I liked the mac 'n cheese, but as another reviewer noted, the cheese tastes like it came from a can. The food was just okay. The wings were very good! The pulled pork was nothing special but good. The baked beans tasted like they were canned, and the Mac and cheese tasted like the sauce was canned as well. The place was modern and cute and tucked in the corner of a gas station. The kid at the order taking counter was on his phone and didn't say hi when we walked in, just waited for us to start saying our order. We had a couple questions that he didn't know the answer to. We drive by twice a day on our way to work since they opened. Today our diner plans changed at the last minute and my wife and I decided to meet there and give it a try. We knew it was going to be half hour before close and they might be out of some items. The chicken was all gone. We got the last of the burnt ends and they had amazing bark and flavor but as you would expect. The BB ribs were really meaty, cooked just right and were our favorite. The pulled pork was also very good. The four sides were all homemade and great: creamy slaw, vinegar slaw, beans and potato salad. We will definitely be back to grab some turkey, chicken and brisket. Visited for the first time, and the food was delicious. I had the brisket and burnt ends, fries, and beans. Everything had great taste/flavor and was smoked perfectly. We also had a pulled pork sandwich and fries. My only complaint was the burnt ends were a little too salty for my taste (The bark), but they were tender and very lean. Service was great, staff were very helpful and friendly. As far as a 'gas station' type restaurant it was setup nice and very clean.
