French dip served on the table. Amazing food!
    Kathy C.

Had drinks and dinner here this evening. The vodka martini was excellent. The bartender was so friendly and let us stand by the bar for a bit until we found a place to stand. It was only 5:15 and fully packed as usual. When we asked for a table the next available was 9:30 and they put us in a waiting list. Guess what??? A cancellation came and we got a table at 5:30. If you've ever been there you know this place is always busy and always amazing! The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. Two bars! And several years ago the patio was enclosed as part of the restaurant and has a wall windows. Also, there are now rooms for big parties AND a room to have private parties and it is beautiful!!! So our waiter gave us a sample of a very good wine! Excellent. I ordered the french dip, which I've had several times. Tonight it was exceptionally delicious! Soft, yet crunch bread, cheese and amazingly tender beef, served with au jus and horse radish. Outstanding tonight! And fries also. But that french dip was THEE best ever. Gotta try it! I can't say enough!

Annie Gunns is a staple for a solid and delicious meal. We went there for lunch and both ordered the French Dip. I'm 100% convinced you can not find a better French Dip than this (I try them everywhere). It literally melts in your mouth! Service was amazing, our server was super attentive and always kept our drinks refilled. Also, my mother mentioned it was my birthday, nothing like some apple pie for turning 38! Also, you have to run into the Smokehouse when you're done eating. They have a lot of awesome items/food to grab and bring home.

I have visited the restaurant a couple times. My daughter was in town and we decided to have lunch. I am aware it can get very busy, so I did make reservations. The restaurant is well decorated and very spacious, I love the design of the newest part, the windows make it seem like you are outdoors, it is well lit and has a very cozy atmosphere. Our waitstaff was wonderful, she was attentive, patient and had a great personality. We both ordered a glass of Cabernet. It was bold and fruity, we enjoyed it with our meal, which was a smoked seafood sampler and selection of cheeses. It has been a while since we had this, but it was so mouthwatering and delicious, I have thought about this meal almost everyday. The meats were so tasty and flavorful, the crackers and bread were paired perfectly. The cheeses were smooth, delicate and just unbelievably delicious! The meal with the wine was expensive for lunch, but it was so worth it. I highly recommend this with a group, we could not eat all of food on the platters.

    Outstanding 40oz tomahawk steak!

Went to dinner with a former colleague and she said she always wanted to order the tomahawk steak. I egged her on and she was not disappointed. Even though her meal was the most expensive one she ever had she knew she would be eating leftovers for a few days so well worth it! I think my next meal at Annie Gunn's will be this steak but I plan to eat it all at the restaurant! Our waitress was extremely attentive and I dare say attractive! Her service left nothing to be desired. It was a wonderful evening catching up with a friend and being entertained by her tackling this steak!

Halibut with polenta, asparagus, and butternut squash

We stopped in without a reservation. Although we didn't wait an inordinate amount of time, I would recommend a reservation. All the staff were nice and let us know we could wait in the bar area and the bartender on either side would take note and give us a seat there when available. A spot opened up at the Wine Cabinet? I am not sure what it was called but it was a bar type spot but had a waitress for service. The seat was perfect when we didn't have a reservation, our server was attentive, and we never felt lost in the shuffle on a busy night. There were about six spots here and another couple sat later in our meal but no one else joined the open spots. Rebecca, our server, was fantastic! She went through the specials and answered my questions, made a recommendation on a drink that was great, the Winterberry. She checked in on us regularly while hustling as it was a Friday night. We ordered wings, they were pretty good, crispy is a must and they were. I got the halibut salad with a 1/2 gem salad. The salad was large for a side. Our entrees arrived in a timely manner, my halibut cooked perfectly. Asparagus and butternut squash were just the right amount and very good. It came with a polenta cake, it was ok, I haven't had it often so not sure if I even like it. We were stuffed by then but couldn't pass up apple pie, it is so good! We took it to go and with the leftovers, Rebecca packed up everything nicely. I recommend a reservation but our overall experience without one was great.

This place does not disappoint! First of all, the location, ambiance is classy and beautiful. Fireplace set the tone. The food is always top tier. Had the fresh oysters, delicious! Had the lambs chops for the first time. Wow! I will be back again just for the Chops. Last, but definitely not least, Abby! Our server was all smiles, pleasant, knowledgeable, friendly and made sure everything was cooked to perfection. Just made the complete experience wonderful. Be sure and request the lamb chops for dinner and Abby as your server.

I took my parents here last Sunday. I'll say, our meal wasn't as good as last time we went in October. But it was still good. The potato pancake was a bit mushy. And the apple pie seemed off. My steak was good. My dad's French dip was good. My mom got a Caesar salad with chicken and the chicken was cold. She was bummed. I guess you need to ask about that but who doesn't want grilled chicken on a salad. Especially at a place like Annie Gun's. Our service was wonderful. There was a table behind us with loud little kids we had trouble talking. But that was at the end of our meal. We will try again in spring!

When you want a great steak in St Louis it is hard to beat Annie Gunns. The attentive yet not overly ambitious wait staff will ensure you have the perfect meal. The newly added space provides a wonderful environment that makes you feel like you are at a ranch in the Rockies. If you have never been to Annie Gunns, you must make this stop a priority.

    Complimentary sparkling wine

Annie Gunn's will always be special to us. We had our wedding reception here, so coming back for our anniversary just felt right. Once again, they made it a memorable experience. The drinks were fantastic. The Bloody Mary had the perfect kick, the Maker's Mark espresso martini was smooth and bold, and the dirty martini was exactly how it should be: strong and delicious. We started with the carpaccio, and it was phenomenal. Easily one of the freshest we've ever had. It melted in our mouths. A really nice touch was the sparkling wine served with all dinners, which added to the celebratory vibe without us even having to ask. We were also treated to a complimentary apple pie with cinnamon-flavored Clementine's ice cream for our anniversary, and it was just as good as it sounds. Warm, flavorful, and the perfect sweet ending. The service was wonderful. Multiple staff members checked in on us to make sure everything was going well, and they were genuinely kind and attentive. The lamb chop was cooked perfectly, and my husband loved the sweet & savory glaze. A few small things to note: the caprese tasted super fresh but could have been colder, and the filet, while flavorful, wasn't quite warm enough. The plate was actually hotter than the steak itself. We were also seated at a table in the bar area with our 6-month-old (which wasn't ideal) but we made the reservation the same day for 7:30pm and felt lucky to get a table at all. All in all, Annie Gunn's still knows how to make a night feel special. We're so glad we chose to celebrate here again.

This is my friend's favorite restaurant and it definitely didn't disappoint! The service was top notch. Adam - our server - was amazing! Super friendly and took care of us! The restaurant is poppin' - fairly loud and lively. We ordered: Shrimp (6) - very smokey Foie gras - the medallion was a bit small for the price but tasted amazing Potato soup - very creamy (but I don't really like potato) Steak - friend said it was good Duck - the duck was cooked to perfection and the sauce that paired with it was incredible - the wild rice that came with it left something to be desired - it tasted like licorice Miro special - this was so unique and yummy. Sweet, salty, spicy, all the flavors Creme brulee - creamy and custard - no complaints This place is great and I'd definitely be back the next time I'm in town

Having to stay in for our anniversary meant carryout. We found out one of our favorite places actually does offer carryout outside of their deli/meat market menu. The experience was truly just as impeccable as dining in. Everything was packaged nicely, especially given part of our order was their cheeseboard. It was very easy to order with friendly staff. We will definitely be ordering again for date nights in. It's the experience you love from Annie Gunn's but to-go.

We had a reservation and were seated almost immediately. The interior has a dark steakhouse feel with a lot of wood materials and the edges of whiskey barrels on the wall as decoration. A great environment to unwind, have a drink, and fully enjoy the meal. The food itself was exactly as ordered; a medium-rare ribeye with creamy risotto and broccolini. We then moved on to the Napoli salad, it is as described on the menu...crisp, and appropriately dressed. Then we had the special pizza of the evening, it was a black garlic base (not strong) with mushrooms and burrata on top - delicious. We also happen to be sitting next to the area with the pizza oven - a must see if you are there. We did sit inside, but outdoor seating was available. What might not be so familiar, but I thought was great, was a more casual atmosphere, and decor, I would classify is as upscale casual. Our server was very pleasant, the only thing that surprised me was the time in between courses seemed a bit longer than expected, but that gave my friends and I a chance to catch up. The tuna was sesame-crusted and served with sriracha aioli, soy ginger sherry sauce, sushi rice, and spinach. Normally, I prefer a locally owned establishment but the location was convenient and honestly, the menu sounded good. Our waiter was very pleasant and gave us plenty of time to decide in between friendly chatter. We had a little mishap where my friend's wine (red wine) fell off the tray and went everywhere. They gave him some towels and soda water to clean and were very apologetic. He was wearing jeans, thankfully! They even took it off his bill to compensate for the trouble. The manager came out and again apologized. We started with some calamari which were delicious and freshly prepared. They were light and crunchy with a wonderful marinara accompaniment. I ordered the ahi tuna prepared medium, served on top of sushi rice. Both the preparation and flavors were exceptional. We were offered dessert twice but simply could not accommodate any more. The food we had were good and satisfied our appetite. I would, of course, like to come back here and try their steak someday!

No but really, as many times as I've been here, I don't know that I've had anything other than the (pejorative-sounding) Rajun Cajun, the Seaside Combo and the Fish Tacos. I used to get the Rajun Cajun, but I gradually shifted to the Seaside Combo, which seems oddly generous, given that it comes with six shrimp. It's not exactly inexpensive, but it doesn't seem so unreasonable, at a time when you have to sign up for Klarna just to eat at McDonald's. The shrimp they use are surprisingly decent quality. They're probably not quite jumbo, otherwise they'd describe them as such on the menu (why waste the opportunity?), but they're not far off. The cod planks, on the other hand, are a tad skimpy, somewhere in between the fish stick you'd get at a good elementary school and the ones they serve at Long John Silver's. You get two with the Seaside Combo, and with an order of Fish & Chips. I wonder if they have separate, larger planks that they use for the Fish & Chips. The list of sides is longer than you might think. Some of them carry an upcharge, and it's not always clear why that's the case. Spinach, for example, costs extra, as does corn on the cob. Who'd pay extra just to eat spinach, Popeye? I've only ever gone with the fries and coleslaw, neither of which is regarded as premium, though I'd argue that they're the two best things you can get with fried fish and shrimp. It's hard to mess up food that you're just tossing into a deep fryer, but credit where credit is due: my fish, shrimp and fries were amazing (as was the coleslaw). They were generously battered (by hand, supposedly) and cooked until perfectly crisp. They must be making use of the timers on those deep fryers. They may have purposely cranked the volume on the ad-supported Spotify so we wouldn't hear them going off. If they did, that was smart of them. Pro Tip: Sprinkle Slap Yo Mama on everything, including the coleslaw. Don't sweat the sodium content. The world is obviously coming to an end sooner rather than later anyway. But don't bother with the signature spicy-and-sweet hot sauce, which is gross. I appreciated the way the fish and shrimp were artfully arranged on the plate. But they buried the lemon wedge, and I didn't notice until I'd already eaten one of the shrimp. So that was definitely a missed opportunity. I'd suggest that they invest in slightly larger plates, but I shudder to think what they might have to do to finance that.

I personally really like the lunch sets, which i think are a good deal and taste pretty good. i also think they do bread really well here, so keep that in mind if you order some dishes with curry the only thing i would advise these guys is to serve the salad for the lunch set on the side. there is way too much water in the greens, and it tends to make the rice and the curry watery. on the other hand of things, the heat from the curry and the rice sort of 'cook' the greens, which really changes the taste of the greens themselves (worse). serving it on the side would solve both problems

The lime soda was $6, which is pretty expensive and I didn't like the flavor very much. The korma paneer was good but a little sweet for my taste. I would like to try this place again and order some different items.
