I recently visited Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill for dinner with some out-of-town colleagues, and it was another great experience. We called ahead and made a reservation for five, and everything went smoothly--we were seated right on time. Our server was attentive and provided excellent service throughout the evening. Honestly, the toughest part of the visit was deciding what to order because there are so many great options on the menu. I ended up going with a house salad (with rustic croutons, hard-boiled egg, cucumbers, bacon, tomatoes, and cheddar) paired with their vinaigrette dressing, along with the ahi tuna entrée. The tuna was sesame-crusted and served with sriracha aioli, soy ginger sherry sauce, sushi rice, and spinach. The presentation really stood out--it was sliced and arranged over the rice in a way that almost resembled a sushi roll. Everything tasted fantastic, and while the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food makes it worth it. This is a regular spot that hubby and I return to every year. We come for our anniversary and valentines day because usually the food and service is top notch. This year on valentines day, the experience wasn't the best. I always make reservations online with no issues. This time, me requesting a booth didn't seem to transfer over. They sat us at a made up table (outside picnic table with a table cloth) which we were a bit upset but it was by the fire so we accepted it. Plus no other tables were available because they were packed. There was another couple behind us sitting at the same made up table. To me, the spacing was awkward and I understand the resturant wanted to do whatever to accommodate guest to dine in this busy day. Our server was really nice and attentive. I forgot his name but he did a great job. The food was seasoned very well. Although my first steak was cooked rare vs medium-rare as requested, he immediately worked to resolve it. The second steak was cooked to perfection and so good. I wish it was cooked this way the first time because I had to wait longer to eat with my husband. The dinner rolls are usually the best. Sweet, light and fluffy with sweet butter. This night, they seemed a tad undercooked. There was a small area that had a slightly different color than the rest which indicates being undercooked. I didn't like that my potato wasn't soft. Lots of firm pieces inside. The crab cakes was absolutely delicious. The first and only time I've been here was 3.5 years ago, so it's clear some things have changed. I came in a little closer to 5 and was able to snag a booth. My server was prompt and gave me water right away. I decided to try one of their featured cocktails "oh cherry" and got the steak frites with fries and a salad. After I ordered she brought out their famous rolls. They were just as soft and tasty as I remembered! After a short while she brought out my drink and salad. Unfortunately, both fell flat. The drink was a collection of juices with some vodka and while it seemed like a good idea at the time, it was anything but. The salad was just an average Caesar but the croutons were quite scrumptious! My streak frites came next and here's where they missed the mark. Mind you, I understand I asked for my fries well done, but I was surprised they couldn't have timed it better so at least my steak would be hot, too. It wasn't. It was lukewarm. It wasn't worth sending back, so I ate it. Overall, I'd say the highlight of my meal were the fries (spectacular, btw) and the complimentary biscuits. The great: The complimentary bread The side Salad $14 The roasted Cauliflower and asparagus included with my meal The Carrot Cake $16 Average: The Steak Medallions - they were a little chewy but cooked properly. Just expected more tender beef for the price. Augratin potatoes had a spice in it that was a little overpowering. The crab cake had a little fishy flavor. Our waitress Holly did a fantastic job taking care of us. The restaurant was clean and upscale. We would go back for tall the pros and try other items on the menu. When I made my reservation, I wasn't aware the restaurant is a part of the Drury hotel, although it does have it's own entrance from outside of the hotel proper. Coming in on Chesterfield Center, you are driving past the back of the hotel buildings and there are no signs at the back indicating which buildings are which. If you drive past both buildings the road curves around and you can then see the Stoney River sign. Service here was excellent, as was the food. The complimentary rolls with whipped cinnamon butter are luscious! I had the steak egg rolls and the medallions with a crab cake. Real mashed potatoes, yum! What a disappointment. Grabbed takeout tonight and the quality of the food has gone way downhill. The only thing that was decent and seemed to be the same quality was the steak bites and carrot cake. We got a few salads and burgers. The salads were very salad and lacking flavor and garnishments. If we would have been at a table I have to say the food would have most likely been sent back (and that's not something we do)! It's so unfortunate because the take out used to be great. I first came last year for a business dinner and loved the food, so I brought my husband back to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. I'm so happy to say they're still consistent and just as delicious. The food was outstanding--especially my steak. I ordered it medium, and they cooked it perfectly exactly how I asked. Even the complimentary bread was absolutely delicious! The highlight of our night was our server, Tate. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed. Cousin brunch! Parking lot ample. Walking in building was dark and sultry . I loved it. Made it for my 1 pm reservation and was not crowded at all. Bar area nice size. Plenty of seating. Adele M . was our server, very attentive and helpful. My only complaint was not to long after we received our food we were repeatedly asked if we were ready for boxes to go , this was a bit nerve wrecking in my opinion. We settled on a Peach Bellini carafe . Shrimp and Grits , Red Velvet Waffle and chicken and Bacon , biscuits as well. This meal was just ok. Menu choices were limited and not a buffet as I originally thought and drink selection I was a bit disappointed with the flavors and choices . I hate having to leave this review but I've thought about it all night. For the cost, it deserves to be told. First, pros: We were there to celebrate a wedding anniversary and the staff left us a nice card, provided on the house prosecco for toasting and (my favorite part of the night) a gloriously decadent chocolate cake with a sweet candle. The waitress was amazing, sweet and attentive without being overbearing. We loved her. The cons: First, the bread rolls. This was our first time here and didn't know what to expect. My roll was RAW. At first I was confused, like is it supposed to be this way? My husband had one, it was ok. He bit into a second one however and said "this isn't fully cooked!" We compared it to mine and while mine was the most raw of the three his was also definitely not done. But, we decided, we aren't here for the rolls, we just want to celebrate. We let it go. We each ordered medium rare steaks. They both came out rare. I personally am fine with it and mine was actually bit more cooked than his so I kept it but his? Was so raw it was glowing blue. We sent it back, and when they came back he deemed it "fine," still not actually medium rare but at this point my food was cold. The sides were fine. The hyped steak rolls were good, but not amazing. Ambiance-wise I'd say it was just ok. We were in a weird small room off the the side where the overhead lights clashed with the smaller table ones. The vibe was just off. I like Stoney River, a restaurant located on the same property as the Drury. It is classic steakhouse vibe with a large wrap around bar and plenty of monitors to watch your favorite team. The staff may struggle with making the televisions work, but otherwise it is great! The food is really good but slightly inconsistent with portion sizes. Some dishes you'll have enough food for a small village on your plate, while others - particular any of the seafood dishes - you'll wonder if the value is really there. I personally settle for the burger because it's hearty, cheesy, and always cooked perfect. They do a great job here! The drinks are very good and the wine pours are generous. They have a great happy hour menu that I recommend as they offer a nice discount and don't skimp on sizes. The service here is solid. I typically sit at the bar where it always seems busy regardless of when I come in. Despite that they always check-in to see how things are going. read more

We enjoyed a great date night here. The food and service was superb. I started with the lobster bisque- there was a good amount of lobster in the creamy silky bisque. My husband order a salad- he is not a salad person typically- but he inhaled it! Would probably not go back. Restaurant is next to a hotel so you have their parking lot to park in. We love the look of the place. It is a little dark to see the menu, but my personal opinion I love when it's a little darker and quieter. The waiter was great. We started with a glass of wine and tea. Waiter brought out some bread with butter. Bread was just okay. Ordered two crab cakes and would definitely get them again. Had the French onion soup, which was good. My husband and I both ordered a fillet (Medium Rare). The sides baked and whipped potatoes were fine. My husband's steak was cooked, perfectly, medium rare. My steak was medium well steak. I did tell the waiter about it and he offered us a dessert and not to fix the steak, which was surprising. I did get the crème brûlée, which was okay. Also got a carrot cake to go which was okay. The only reason I would come back here is to have a glass of wine and maybe some appetizers but nothing else. I ordered a Dirty Martini, and I must say, it was one of the finest martinis I have ever had. Something one never forgets! We looked over the menu, and I ordered a Wedge Salad and a NY Strip with a Lobster Tail on the side. Our glorious leader, who is a wine connoisseur, ordered wine, and we were very impressed with the wine cellar here- some incredible wines at some great prices! The Food; -Crab dip: 4.5/5 - Starter bread: Not the traditional rolls. This was kind of sweet and reminds me of a cinnamon doughnut. The food was marvelous. The coffee cured filet is one of the best pieces of meat I have ever eaten. The loaded baked potato rounded out the meal. One of my colleagues had the double bone in pork shop. She said it was heavenly. It was on a bed of mashed garlic potatoes with a side of steamed broccoli. Others at the table had salt plank salmon, pecan encrusted trout, and a gluten free option. It was a chicken dish. The restaurant is a beautiful steakhouse with low lighting. Our server was new. I was so eager to try this place and it's been saved on my Yelp for some time. When we walked in there were three hosts all young females and what appeared to be a manager, older gentlemen. We were not greeted. I finally said hello and was promptly asked if we had a reservation. I said no and that was all the communication we received. Then the same host was asking the older gentleman about tables and he was snippy with her stating "wait till they are seated". Once seated it took about 5 minutes before our server came over. There was a foul smell where we were seated maybe because we were so close to the restrooms. Once server arrived, I asked for a wine similar to a moscato she replied "we don't have moscato." No other alternatives were given while she starred into my soul. She never asked what we wanted to order so I had to mention each time we're ready to order. My husband ordered a southern peach which was pure liquor. It was very strong no other flavors. We ordered steak roll ups they were okay but came out cold. Similar to 54th st tequila wrappers. Not very pleasant. I asked for a side salad I was told "we don't have those." We ordered carb cakes and Tucson chicken but we received the incorrect order. What we did get was okay. We didn't finish it and sent it back. They offered to remake it but we had our baby with us and did not want to wait any longer. Our server never smiled was very impersonal. The only pleasant employee was this female working with long black braided hair, no name tag sadly. She brought us our drink and appetizer and was so kind, engaging and talked to our baby. Get the steak rolls! They are my favorite! The French onion soup, also delicious. The steaks are high quality cuts but personally I'd like more seasoning. I do highly recommend the Bistro Chicken. This is the perfect romantic restaurant. Candlelit tables and the light dim. The service is impeccable. The coffee cured filet mignon is to die for. Steak rolls are excellent. The food, service, and ambiance are stellar. My only negative is not in the control of Stoney River. The downside of premier restaurants near hotels and apartments is attire. We shared a $500 meal surrounded by people who strolled in from the nearby hotel pool in cutoffs, flip flops, tees, and a few to many afternoon cocktails. It affects the experience. This is my second time dining at this restaurant. The bread basket is so good! It is like a yummy first course dessert, with the cinnamon butter--It is worth it just to experience that. The steak rolls were actually an appetizer but were big enough to be an entree. They were very delicious with the chimichurri sauce. My entree was an oven grilled halibut-with sauteed spinach, this was mouth watering and so, so flavorful. I had (2) negronis which were very delicious. The service was great, my water was continuously filled and the wait staff was always attentive to our needs. We made reservations and were lucky to have a wonderful round table in the back of the restaurant, it almost had the feel of being in a private room. There were other tables nearby, buy we were able to converse and hear each other as the noise level was very low. I had a side caesar salad with anchovies and thought it was one of the best versions of the dish I've ever had. I always enjoy the Steak Egg rolls as an appetizer. My wife ordered the petite filet and thought it was really good and she also enjoyed the loaded baked potato. One of the things you get here are some warm sweet bread rolls that come with a butter spread that makes them taste like warm donuts. I love it. This is a great place for date night and/or a small gathering. The food here is a bit pricey, but it is delicious. While our server was amazing! They did not honor our request for a quieter part of the restaurant which was requested through the app when making the reservation along with a call the day before. Our table cloth was dirty in numerous spots and was not switched out when we addressed it with the hostess. The specials were not read to us just a menu laid on the table with 3 other food and drink menus. When our food was brought out, the runner just stood at the end of the table and stared at us and waited for my husband and I to say which plate was ours. They did not bring steak knives and fresh forks to eat with and we had no utensils. I cut into my medium cooked filet only for it to be tough and COLD, not even warm!! FREAKING $53 STEAK SERVED COLD!!! It was a good 5-7 minutes before our server even came by so I could send it back. He was very polite and apologetic as he didn't even know they ran our food out. He took my plate back and had the kitchen "refire" the steak to warm it. The "manager" brought it back out with no apology or concern to ensure it was actually warm which it was barely and bc they just zapped it, the entire outside was hard and tough. While our waiter was great the entire atmosphere and other staff was not enjoyable. The restaurant was loud and messy. This used to be one of our favorite places to go for special occasions but the lack of training and attention to detail and care giving to guests will keep us from returning ever again. read more

Came for our anniversary on Monday night. They are using brand new menu items! I had my heart set on the tomato basil and mozzarella cheese salad; not carrying it at this time. My sangria was weak and filled with ice. Couldn't really detect any wine as I usually can with a great sangria. We had to ask for water. Water was good, very smooth as if filtered. He selected the New York Strip with the 1 lb. Baked Potato. I had the filet Oscar with homemade garlic mashed potatoes. Those potatoes were utterly delicious! We split the 1 lb. Baked Potato. He ordered the house salad with ranch dressing. Ranch had an aftertaste. Crème Brûlée was sinful , very rich and creamy! Overall, it was a nice dinner but we had to send our steaks back; we ordered medium well and both came out very well done. I tried the blackberry jam margarita; I wasn't fond of the flavor.
