    Big Muddy and Fries

My wife and I were headed to Mizzou for a track meet and stopped into one of Sugarfire's newest locations. It was a Saturday afternoon and the new location was not too busy.y ordered the turkey sandwich and fries. I ordered the Big Muddy and fries. I paid and we went to get our drinks. Our order met us as we got to table. My wife enjoyed the turkey sandwich and the fries were piping hot, perfectly fried and salted. The Big Muddy was great. Brisket, cheddar jalapeño sausage, lettuce, pickles, BBQ sauce and horseradish sauce. It was a bit messy, but the flavor was on point. The brisket was as tender as your mother's love and the sauces blended to add great flavor! The place is new and was super clean. The restrooms were clean and stocked. Sugarfire never disappoints.

Super nice guy with glasses served the ribs and fries for me. Fall off bone food! Western times vibes but right near sweet spot n highway. Love lunch here!

This was a local recommendation, and did not disappoint meal options great, dig local ambience. Service from cashier not so welcoming, we shared the meat daddy, melted in mouth all meats- street corn, meh, however corn bread and mac n cheese pretty solid.

I split a full rack with mom for my most recent birthday meal and I was not disappointed! Naturally, we each had plenty of leftovers. The ribs came out with that perfect dark, smoky bark that's packed with flavor. The meat underneath was oh so tender. For one side, I went with applesauce - a classic. Appropriately chilled, it was a nice, fresh component to a largely roll-me-out-the-door meal. It was topped with a very confident amount of cinnamon. Heavy-handed for my taste, but if cinnamon is your jam, you'll be thrilled. The baked beans, however, came in hot. And I don't mean temperature; I mean with a spicy surprise. The sweetness of the applesauce cut down the bite of the heat, but I longed for milk to put out the little fire on my tongue. I have a low threshold for spicy food, so you may be quite alright with it, but it was a surprise to me. Pappy's is, hands down, my go-to BBQ spot. The potato salad was dry and pasty. The baked beans were much too spicy. Their service was very fast but it was a workarant. You had to order sit and they delivered it to you. The place was nice decorated with even handicapped restrooms. All in all I would go back for the ribs for sure. S.L.

If you have mobility challenges, park in the back, enter through the ramp and you'll be directly in the main dining room without having to deal with any steps. The establishment has such a fun vibe. It's located next to railroad tracks and embraces the train ambience detailed decor. The dress code is very casual. I was greeted warmly as I entered, and shown to a table. I was pleasantly surprised to not have to wait for a table on a Saturday night, even though they were rather busy. Service was top-notch throughout my visit. And we were even reminded of the "whistle stop" which is when a freight train rolls through unexpectedly and many drinks are half off during that time. It happened once during our 2+ hour visit. This is a barbecue place with many options for carnivores. During Lent season, they have a delicious fish sandwich available. It's really limited options though if you're vegetarian. That may change when they add some Mexican food to the menu soon. I hope. We chose to visit on a night when performer Terrance Wafer was playing. He played known top hits on an acoustic guitar with incredible vocals. We really enjoyed listening to him. I'm already looking forward to returning here.

I ordered a 2-meat platter with burnt ends that were phenomenal and the smoked habanero turkey that was moist and delicious and the spicy BBQ sauce adding a nice little zing. I was a little disappointed that the place didn't offer cornbread or Texas toast with the platter and I didn't think to ask until after I got my food. Sides were good and I thought the baked beans were very good but the Mac n Cheese was a little too cheese-whizzy for me and wasn't too crazy about it but will get potato salad next time. Also I'll try their brisket on the next visit l since that's my measure of truly great Texas style BBQ. It's kind of an odd setup for a restaurant since it's inside a service station but it's a really nice service station and the restaurants decor is pretty nice. I'd give it 4.5 stars if they allowed it, but will go with 5 stars for now.

You order at the counter, which was easy, and then pay at the end of the line. The cashier was super helpful and offered recommendations on sauces and offered pickles or jalapeños for my To Go order. I ordered the Big Muddy sandwich which came with brisket, sausage, lettuce and pickles. It was also supposed to have horseradish and bbq sauce, but it did not. Maybe because it was To Go? The brisket was sliced right in front of me, but it was bad. It looked tender, but it was supper fatty and could handle be chewed. I spit most of it out. The problem was probably a bad cut of meat and not the smoking, but they still served it to me. The sausage was great, but only had a couple of little slices. I added some of the sweet sauce which was very good. I chose the beans for my side. Fine, but nothing special. A little dry, so I added sauce to help it go down. Then they had some local soda option, so I passed on an overpriced drink. It looks like there are more local options in the area, I would try somewhere else if ever back in this area.

There is also a drink dispenser right when you walk in to grab drinks which I would also imagine is just a huge back up. Usually you get up to the front and go through like a cafeteria style but this was different where you ordered right at the cashier and then they went down and grabbed everything while you picked a seat. The cashier was nice enough but when I asked a clarifying question she looked at me like I had 8 heads. I just moved on and we paid, it was $50 for this whole meal. My husband loved his brisket sandwich and sides. I had turkey that was good, albeit a bit dry and the pork (the pieces I could find) were so delicious.
