This is a brand new addition to the Concord area and I always love trying new restaurants. This place has a lot of customers even at 1pm for lunch for a newly opened restaurant, maybe because it is grand opening. Service I was immediately greeted at the door by a friendly and young staff and seated very fast. Another staff came to take my order and gave me good advice on which lunch set to pick. I had to ask for water as they seem to have forgotten to get it for me. I was super thirsty ;( This appears to be a Chinese family owned Thai restaurant. Service did seem a bit disorganized as a whole probably because they are still figuring out the best system or perhaps because the restaurant is C shaped with one entrance to the back kitchen. So I am constantly seeing staff pacing back and forth. But they are friendly staff. Ambience the partially open kitchen concept makes it noisy. It was hard to sit and have a quiet and enjoyable meal. With a lot of foot traffic from the staff, maybe owners, and photographer, etc it felt hectic for my liking. Food My food took a long time to come out... more than 30min.. apparently there was a mix up in the Kitchen and my order was not submitted. I ordered the pad sew ee which was the waitress' personal favoriate, which happens to be what I order a lot at the various Thai restaurants. In comparison, this was a 2 out of 5. There was a lot of salt (common for this dish), but there was even more sugar. I personally prefer Thai food to be more salty rather than sweet. The sriracha chilli sauce and the chilli paste that they provide are both sweet chilli. I like Spicy chilli, the authentic Asian style chilli oil. Perhaps this is just their attempt at catering to a more Western taste in Concord. Check There was a longer wait for the check as compared to my normal experience with other restaurants. When the check came I noticed that I was over charged. The waitress apologized and had it fixed. But then forgot to bring the leftover food that was packaged for me. I think since they are hiring very young staff, they are going to be less experienced and less organized, this is expected and not their fault. Comes with experience. What I come back? Probably not. The service staff are very nice, but still needing to be polished and perhaps management just needs to train and get the group more organized. This place is awesome! It's where the old McDonalds used to be. I always thought it was weird a McDonalds was there... Anyway, it's southeast Asian food/ street food and it's hella good! Not too fusiony- if you know what I mean. Lots of restaurants call themselves Asian fusion and you end up with noodles and rice with sweet chili sauce. Yeah no thanks buddy. I got the garlic fried rice and my husband got the Volcano chicken (I think it's called that) with spicy lever: burn your soul. I thought the name was kinda funny haha. But both plates were super good! They even brought us out a little sample bowl of chicken wings and those were BOOOMBBBB. I didn't actually eat the chicken (trying to be pescatarian) but I ate the sauce around it with my rice. We also got a Thai iced tea and a Thai iced coffee. They come in the same size glass as the water and these things are youuuuuge. Good to share or perfect for over consumption if you're a monster like me :3 Oh yeah we got the fish balls and the shrimp balls and these portons are massive too! Super tasty and good to share or eat with your rice plate that's coming out right after. Service here is awesome! Seems very family run which is cool cause it's basically like getting food cooked by your aunties! They're all super sweet and accommodating. If you enjoy spicy food, I recommend asking for the papaya salad Laos style with 4 peppers, but if your more daring, trying 5-6 peppers. Also Lao sausage is great with sticky rice. Also you can order the papaya salad non spicy as well. Another great dish to try is their Chicken Pad-Se-Ew, Beef Larp, and the fried rice. All of our dishes were very flavorful and filling. It's not you're typical Laos/Thai restaurant. This place is excellent. The place is modern, simple and open space. Enjoyable to sit around coworkers, friends or family and engage in full conversations. The service is great! Anything you need, they'll be able to help assist your visit welcoming and enjoyable. I accidentally stumbled upon this place while walking around during my lunch break. What a pleasant surprise! A cute and modern Thai/Laotian cafe. Service was great. Immediately greeted by a very pleasant server with a big smile. The menu has a good offering too, with a separate lunch menu if you don't want to order off the regular menu. I ordered the papaya salad off the main menu. It's sooo good and healthy and tasty. I paid the extra $5 to get 5 pieces of prawn/shrimp as well. This salad was hearty and filling enough for a complete meal. They had sliced carrots, tomato, peanuts, and green peppers mixed in the delicious seasoning. But be aware that it's spicy- I love it spicy though! They served the entree with a small cup of cabbage soup in a chicken broth. Very tasty as well! I would definitely come back here and I'd like to try their wings next time too. If this was in a major metro area with a lot of Asian population I would have given a 4, but due to the location and this catering more towards the daytime clientele, I gave this place a 5. I took my crew out to lunch last week, and it bet all had a good experience. I arrived early so I ordered 5 dishes for 4 guys. It was perfect, although they charged me 2x for on of the dishes, and I didn't discover it until later, I'm sure they will make it right Papaya salad, excellent Lao sausages, wonderful, Drunken noodles superb. Love this place! Their Tom yum soup is the best (so lemony grassy!!) and the crispy drunken noodle! Also recommend the Ding Dong Eggplant, bonus points for being fun to say. This is currently our most frequented restaurant because it has good food for a reasonable price and the service is great. There are many good dishes but my favorites are the Kaprow with pork belly and the udon soup. Bonus: they have some good beer choices. They have plenty of tables so it's unlikely you'd have to wait to be seated, which is nice. Thai food can be spicy so if you're not seeking hot flavors, be sure to tell your server and they can help you pick something; they are all quite helpful. For the kids' dishes, when they ask "how spicy?" I say "not spicy" (rather than "mild"). We've been going there since they opened and if you read some very early reviews, there's a few complaints about slow service but that's no longer an issue. They had some turnover when they started but have had a regular group of capable servers for a while now. By the way, the AC is a bit unbalanced, with the left side sometimes too cold. If you're too warm/cold, just tell them you want to move to the other side. Lastly, they've got many TVs with whatever games are currently going on. Thankfully the volume isn't turned up to high to be annoying. read more

This is a new restaurant who is still working on their processes. But their food is worth the wait. We started with the beef ball skewers and had the kapraw with pork and the bbq chicken. I actually am not a big fan of Thai cuisine and don't know anything about Laotian food, but every bite was flavorful. Even the beef balls had spices all the way through. And you can taste the freshness in the veggies. I only docked the star since service was a bit slow. But since it's new, they're probably still getting their routines down. Glad it's in Concord. Food here remains fantastic! Dined at their new location and while it is smaller than the old space and more takeout based it seems, the food and quality of service still fills the space. I actually quite enjoyed the takeout style because it reminded me of the authentic street style dining in South East Asia. Today I ordered a delivery and specifically asked for no onions, no green onions and extra dressing. I got my salad full of onions and no extra dressing. These guys do not know how to read orders. Checked out this new place in the neighborhood and was not sure if I would like it as it was alittle pricey Asian place, but it was actually good and worth the money. It was a Sunday night and they weren't busy, but a few people getting take-outs while we were eating. We ordered a couple of skewers (chicken, fish balls, and vegetable) and they were all good and flavorful. We also ordered the pat see ew and the yellow curry. The pat see ew was good, alittle sweet, but good and flavorful. The yellow was good, but it was alittle watery and wished they had like potatoes in it or something. My dining partner said his chicken curry was a B grade. My rice noodles with broccoli, egg and shrimp was pretty good though the noodles were overcooked and mushy. The shrimp was the most impressive part of the dish. For an extra 3 dollars, I had about 8 huge shrimp which was really unexpected since I had low expectations. I couldn't finish my meal and it became lunch and dinner. The chicken satay was a bit spicy for me. Overall, I liked the food and the environment was nice and low key. Bathrooms were clean. It took a long time before our waitress checked on us. The meal was a bit pricey, 50 dollars for lunch for two people. Their appetizers are expensive, 10 dollars for 4 sticks of chicken satay and 8 dollars for 4 small eggrolls. I would come back and interested in their homemade udon noodles in chicken soup. I was very happy to have a Laotian restaurant open in Concord! I have a few Laotian friends and have had the real stuff! STIX hits the spot! I've had their Khao Poon, Lao Sausage and Nham Khao and was very satisfied with all dishes. The papaya salad is also very good but it is not spicy at all. If you like spicy, make sure you specify to make it spicy when ordering. I also recently tried their Boat Noodles and it was also very flavorful and meaty! I've been here a few times and the food is always consistently good. We had dinner here for the first time, but was offered & ordered from the lunch menu! Customer service was ok, a bit on the slow side, since it seems like the workers were at lunch/break. We came right at 4 o'clock when the business is open for Dinner time. I had the Chicken Pad Thai, which was very flavorful and great. Ingredients was fresh (obviously since this business just opened a couple weeks), but I was just curious why the color of the pad thai was very different than other Pad Thai I had from other Thai Restaurant? Other than that, It taste authentic thai pad thai. The portion is enough to get you full. The BF had the Pad Kra Pow with Egg, which he enjoyed alot, but it was just alittle on the sweet side. An easy fix was to put some chili condiments on it. The portion is enough to get you full. Overall, the food here is pretty good, but VERY PRICEY! I think you can get the same quality and taste from other restaurant at an affordable price. Despite the food was pretty good, but the price is just ridiculous too high IMO comparing to other Thai restaurants in Concord/Clayton area. Would we come back again?... most likely not due to the price of the dishes. Lunch is pretty pricey, but the Dinner is ridiculous too high in my opinion. As a southeast Asian myself, I grew up eating southeast Asian food my entire life such as Laotian, Thai, Cambodian and of course Vietnamese. Having tried so many different Thai restaurants across the west, STIX eatery is by far and away THE BEST Thai food I've ever had. Pad Thai Chicken Noodle: The balance of sweet with savory is perfect and the noodle consistency coupled with the perfect size pieces of shrimp and tofu were absolutely cooked to perfection. Tom kha with chicken: Light and delightfully balanced with coconut and lemongrass. Again, perfection. Papaya Salad: spicy and addictive, slightly on the more sour side for my liking but still the best in town. Grilled tri-tip: Dam good with large portions. Great savory taste with a kick of fish sauce. In closing: From San Diego, to Las Vegas, to San Francisco, this little mom and pop gem owned by Laotians is the best Thai food I've ever had! This is a really interesting and different kind of a place. It's not quite a real cafe/bistro but they do have table service. It was a former McDonald's location and it does have a bit of feel of a fast food place and the ambiance is minimal. But the menu is very different from most Asian influenced places. The owners are from Laos, Hong Kong and Thailand. So, you can imagine the kind of variety of flavors you can get if you mix all those regional cuisines up! We started with Egg Rolls, Laotian Sausage, Green Papaya Salad and Calamari Stix. Those were all very good except the Egg Rolls - the filling was a bit mushy and non-de-script. But, they were perfectly deep fried and not greasy at all. For larger dishes, we had Pineapple Fried Rice and BBQ Tri Tip Beef. The beef was really good - tender and tasty and did not need the S&S dipping sauce. But the big item was the Fresh Curry Crab ($40). It was very messy to eat but the sauce was excellent. The crab was flash fried with a coating of some sort on the pieces and then smothered with the sauce just before serving. I think the crab was just a tad overdone. Next time, we'll try it with a Tamarind Sauce! I would have given this place 4 stars except the ambiance is kinda barren and the side of the restaurant that we sat in was quite cool.
