I had shrimp and grits and added salmon. It was very good and the grits were very unique but delicious. Brunch bar included fruit, chicken salad, and cookies. This located in North Hills near the AC Hotel. There's limited street parking nearby, but there's a parking deck right beside the restaurant that's easily accessible. This place can get busy for dinner and brunch so I highly suggest reservations. You can easily book them through their website or OpenTable (the website will just take you to OpenTable so skip the middle-man). They have a great selection of seafood. I had never had oysters before, but a friend of mine loves them and we decided to go hear to try them for the first time and I really enjoyed them. Although they have a great selection of seafood dishes they have plenty of other options for people who do not enjoy or cannot eat seafood. The Scallop & Shrimp White Cheddar Mac & Cheese is delicious on the dinner menu. For brunch I love the Shrimp & Crab Benedict. We tried this restaurant on NYE before and it wasn't that great but I gave them a pass since it was NYE. I initially tried them because they had authentic ceviche, but they had ran out. I checked out the menu beforehand on open table. We arrive at 6:40 for a 6:45 reservation and we were seated promptly. They did state they had ran out of menus but said they had made copies . We are seated and greeted by our server Antony! Who was the bomb! I inquired about the ceviche, didn't see it on the menu, but since they ran out of menus I'm thinking it's a mistake. He states we are about a year too late. I'm not sure whos responsibly it is for updating the menu on open table, but you are a year too late . We started off with the oysters on the half shell. I thought it was customary for them to release the muscle from the bottom shell, buts it's not. For drinks, I had the old fashioned and my friend had the bramble, which is a whiskey drink with some fresh fruit and juice, although she said she didn't have her Cherry it stated it had. She really enjoyed it. My old fashioned had too much ice that had watered down. It said it was served with a rock/cylinder ice cube, but I guess the menu hadn't been updated. From Anthony's recommendation I had the halibut and my companion had the crab/lobster cake, we also had a side of Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was great! The halibut had a great sear, but was missing seasoning. I substituted the seasonal vegetables for asparagus, it was supposed to have farro but I didn't have any; the asparagus was good. My friend really enjoyed the cakes, I did try a bite and they were good. The atmosphere is inviting. they have outside seating, they can open the doors and you feel the breeze and walk out on the patio. It's a great location, they also offer complimentary valet parking. A ordered 3 oysters, which came out pretty quickly. It then took a long time for our waiter to come back so we could order the rest of our food. I ordered the crab bisque to come out first and then ordered the Sliders. I wasn't a fan of the basil oil in the crab bisque. It was a little overpowering and I felt like it made the bisque unattractive (best way I can think to describe it). The Sliders were good but I felt like they left a little something to be desired as well. The fries were tasty though, cooked perfectly with a nice crunch. I visited here on Christmas Eve. I was meeting my friends who all live out of town. Unfortunately , the heat was broken and it was freezing. It was very uncomfortable. Initially we asked to be moved thinking that it was because of the big doors . The first girl didn't inform us that the heat was out. A guy came over and let us know that pretty much the entire restaurant was cold . We did end up moving closing to the kitchen and it was a little better but still cold. The service was just ok. Every liquor we asked for they were out of and our shrimp and grits came lukewarm . It was good though. Next time i would ask for it to be hotter. As we were paying we were informed that they were closing early due to the heat issues. First visit to North Hills in about 10 years. Beautiful evening for walking around and looking at the new restaurants and bars. Came across STIR first. It was fairly early in the evening around 6:30. We were just looking for apps and a drink at that time and Kim was our server. She was attentive, friendly and efficient. The ambiance was very nice, didn't feel like a sports bar and it was filling up fairly quickly. The appetizers were great - we had the sliders and some oysters, a drink each and thought this was a place worth revisitting. Good mix it of people (expensive, as all North Hill is now) and an interesting mix of eats on the menu. But we wanted to keep walking! A good experience all-around. read more

Stopped by here on a Friday for lunch on the way back to Charlotte. Nice restaurant right next to capital grille and across from the AC hotel. Parking was in a garage and easy to access in the same building. Beautiful patio area which we decided to enjoy since the weather was nice! Service was also very sweet and prompt. Our waitress was very attentive. Decided to order the Mexican ceviche and two glasses of wine to start. Ceviche was fresh and refreshing! Also ordered charbroiled oysters and spicy chicken samosas. Both were also very tasty! My BF loved the oysters and he's not an oyster type guy. The appetizers were enough to keep us full for the ride home back to Charlotte. For appetizers we had the fried green tomatoes and the truffle parmesan fries. The fried green tomatoes were the clear winner with their perfect breading and pickled veg on top. The fries didn't honestly have much truffle flavor, and mostly were forgettable. For our entrees, I chose the shrimp and grits, and Husband had the filet with house made goat cheese ravioli. I found my dish to be delicious, if only just a little bit too salty for my taste. The ravioli, pecan pesto and roasted root vegetables that were happening on the plate next to me were outstanding! North Hills has so many good restaurants, and STIR is definitely one of them. We went there for brunch with my parents and my wife's friend right when it opened. The only availability was outside on the patio. We ordered the Strawberry Basil and the Honey Peach Agua Frescas and they were very refreshing. My wife ordered the Stir it up Frittata, and though the grits were super flavorful and cheesy, the frittata itself was a little bland. My mother ordered the Classic Waffle which was amazing, and the potatoes were cooked just right. (This order comes with two eggs, for some reason it came on a second plate not pictured). I ordered the Charleston Omelette which was scrumptious and the potatoes went great with the green peppers and onions. The staff was incredibly friendly and the manager, who had a great personality, was clearly invested in the enjoyment of his guests. Nestled in the thriving north hills community, this muddled establishment, with an ogre of an ON DUTY manager at the helm, being absent any and all customer service skills will not see my business again. This beautifully decorated restaurant, with an extremely large patio is quite impressive, up until the point where the interaction begins and you take a moment to really look around. Oddly enough many of the tables on the patio remained empty, while the waiting list grew. An hour waited for a table here is a gift, mine was 45 minutes, I guess I got a gift. One would consider the opportunity to seat more people much quicker if you actually cleared and cleaned the tables immediately, rather than them sit for 20 minutes. The unsightly view of dirty dishes and scraps does nothing good for a restaurant's image, especially when its the largest and first table you see when walking in the door. So, while you sit and wait on the sands of the hourglass to offer you a table, the exceptional bar and bartenders will keep your lips wet and ensure your good to go. Apparently empty tables on the patio are either to remain empty or be used as dog beds, which I personally thought was quite disgusting. Although I never officially received a table, I did enjoy my drink at one of the many tables siting vacant outside. I decided to join my fellow loiterers and that pesky dog. Apparently what I thought was a harmless move, to make my time spent a little more comfortable, was a big NO NO! Dogs are OK, but a wine glass, not so much! The manager spoke to me as if I had no reason to even be there, I found his demeanor to be completely out of line and extremely rude, so off to the restaurant next door for something better. I ordered the perfect pea ring and the hubster ordered the Wild Moon Child. For an appetizer we tried the bacon and corn chowder which was very hearty and contained potatoes. We ordered a half dozen raw oysters as well. For dinner we shared the filet and house goat cheese ravioli which was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection and the goat cheese inside the ravioli had the consistency of ricotta. Literally a serial dater's wildest dream come true. The one thing that's unforgettable for me here is the Fried Green Tomatoes ! O M GEE! These are delicious. Crispy Fried green tomatoes topped with parsley, cucumber, green pepper, onion and PIMENTO CHEESE! For those of you who don't know, I'm new to the south and this was my first time trying pimento cheese and it is delicious !!!!!!!! It's just a flavor I can't even describe. I was really caught off guard in how much I liked their samosas. I have been here before and had a pretty good experience. However, I've never been here for brunch and I must say I honestly prefer to come here on Saturday or Sunday for brunch. We had to wait for probably about 30 minutes when we got here at 10:30, so make sure you make reservations and plan in advance unless you want to wait.
