Caveat: I'm basing my rating on a single dish, the only thing I had to eat here. Maybe other menu options are far better. Crawfish etouffée shouldn't be light colored. Ever. And so my hopes for a positive experience deflated as soon as the dish arrived. Prior to that, things were going alright. Things weren't busy in this downtown establishment at lunchtime, so it was easy to get a seat. My order was taken quickly and filled quickly by a very polite and pleasant member of the staff. I was dining alone, so I took a spot at the bar, which seemed clean and well kept. The portion size of my entree was pretty good, and there was plenty of tail meat in the bowl. But to say the flavors were as flat as the color of the bowl's liquid contents would be accurate if perhaps even an understatement. i came here on a friday night for karaoke, which apparently is only offered on fridays. the place was packed and had a really fun energy. the crowd was into it, and it definitely felt like a lively spot to spend the evening. unfortunately, we ended up leaving without getting to sing. the karaoke queue relied on scanning a qr code, but the wifi kept acting up. the dj was constantly telling people to re-scan because the connection was being iffy, and every time we had to do it, we'd get pushed further down the queue. it was honestly a real bummer and took away from the whole reason we came. we had already eaten beforehand, so i can't comment on the food, but i did enjoy the atmosphere. read more

I went to Big Easy tonight with a party of 5. I do not see myself coming back again. There was a private party going on at the same time, and maybe this explains the exceptionally slow service. The wait staff did look like they were working diligently, but it took a very long time for them to even take out order and even longer for our food to arrive. Once the food came, things were ok but the food left a lot to be desired. Someone in my party had the etouffee and commented on the fact that it lacked seasoning. I had the Jambalaya pasta and was pleasantly surprised in the sausage in the dish as it had great flavor, but the pasta sauce itself was lacking. The portions were good and the value for the money was there in that respect. We didn't get any alcoholic beverages just fountain drinks. The location is central downtown, so parking it hard. Had a great time here last Friday! It was my friends' first visit, and the food, drinks, and atmosphere did not disappoint. I was pointed in the direction of The Big Easy and was not disappointed. I had a French 75 and it was tasty and the flavor was not overpowered by the lemon juice. I also had a seafood platter and seafood chowder to go. Both were flavorful and good portions. They also had a live band setting up about 10p as they are open until 2a. We ordered 2 catfish platters, two orders of wings and the Cajun crab egg rolls. The catfish was fried golden brown however when we bit into it, it was mushy. My daughter asked the waiter if our catfish could be dropped again to cook a little longer. The waitress was nice and said she would have them drop two more pieces instead of taking ours off of the plate. Finally the catfish came back out and unfortunately was still undone! We had the onion rings very crunch and nice size rings. Husband ribs, greens and spinach he was very happy with his meal spinach was nice garlicky. The brown butter greens were very good. Had the Creole with Crawfish simmered in spicy creole sauce over seasoned rice. This was excellent, though the Crawfish were a bit overpowering. The service today left much to be desired: waitress looked miserable. Did not smile or speak the entire time I was there. "Ready?" was all I got out of her. Came back today for the Etoufee. My friend & I needed an early dinner, she been here before and told me this place was great. They weren't busy and limited staff during slow times. Amanda was amazing tho! She was so nice and had great recommendations. She recommended us a Red Bull which didn't even know they had, we needed the energy. I've been to The Big Easy a few times and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However, this time was different. I went later in the evening and they offered a "late night menu" only. The restaurant was not crowded. There was 1 larger table leaving and maybe 3 other tables with 2 people at each. Only 2 people at the bar. I saw at least 6 employees in the front. Caesar salad 5/5 Pimento cheese balls 2/5 Fries seafood platter 3/5 The server was not attentive. The server took awhile to take my order. Took awhile to check back in. And took awhile to bring the food. Which, ultimately, lead to me having lukewarm food. I told the server all items could come out at the same time. The server didn't listen so things came out one by one. The pimento cheese balls came out room temperature. Caesar salad was next. Which was good because was suppose to be cold. Seafood platter was carrying temps. Fish was hot, shrimp and oysters lukewarm, fries cold. The restaurant was open for another 2 hours but all servers, employees, and bartender seemed more concerned with cleaning up and chatting. I told the manager I no longer wanted the water and he asked me to leave. He continued to be verbally aggressive with me as I was walking out. I told him I was leaving and his bouncer said he didn't like the way I was talking to the manager. He then assaulted me while the manager looked.on. I visited and ordered from their late night menu after 11:30 p.m. Staff was friendly and kind as we were seated immediately. We were seated near the bar and DJ DVS was spinning throwback Hip Hop & R&B. He is excellent. He didn't play a bad song. 5 stars?? Yep and just to tell you how much I love the service, food and ambiance of this restaurant I dined here twice within 3 days lol. The staff is amazing and the owner Steve is just as awesome! I emailed Steve a couple of weeks back to plan the holiday luncheon for my team (17 guests) and without hesitation he was able to accommodate us and place us on the books. Well my niece was trying to find a nice restaurant to celebrate her bday but the place she had in mind was super booked. We gave her a few options and then I remembered The Big Easy (she loves New Orleans). I called to make reservations (party of 9) the same day and once again Steve and his staff came through! Our table was set up and our server was super friendly and attentive. My family really enjoyed themselves and stated the food was delicious. Bc it was her bday she received beignets and she was really excited to try them. Matter of fact she was hesitant to share (lol)! The decor is beautiful and modern. We rented the Voodoo Room on a Friday night to celebrate retiring. First, the rental was very, very reasonable. We looked all over town and had only found much more expensive options.
