We had reservations here to celebrate my mom's birthday, it was wonderful! As soon as we walked in, there were placards on the wall of awards that Rey's Restaurant has earned and won. The decor was beautiful, the music was soft and nice and there were many seating options to fit plenty of people with different preferences. We started off with some red wine, Romaine Hearts Salad and the grilled brie served with fresh fruit and toast points, it was very good. For the entrees, we got the chicken piccata with a side of sauteed mushrooms. (I personally didn't love this one) and we also got 2 fillet mignons with a side of garlic mashed potatoes which were absolutely delicious! The dessert menu looked so good but the food portions were pretty big so we were full. Jonathan S was our server and he was magnificent. He was very attentive and very accommodating. Rey's Restaurant was the perfect place to celebrate my mom's birthday. Will definitely come back

My husband and I came across Rey's while on a work trip to North Carolina. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant for a delicious romantic date night. The offer plenty of seating - most being in their large dining area, while some is located in their bar area (Voodoo Lounge - still offers table seating). The exterior holds a large array of parking spaces for guests and the general location is nice and a stand alone. The restaurant was not extremely busy when we first arrived (we tend to eat dinner around 4/4:30pm). However, it did get quite busy as the night went on. The staff was great. Upon our arrival, the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything. We stated it was a few days past our anniversary, and the hostess immediately grabbed us a celebration card which was very sweet. The food was wonderful. Our waitress was great and offered multiple recommendations on items. All were extremely tasty. The food can get pricey as you add multiple items (apps, entrees, sides, and dessert), but in my opinion you get your monies worth with all items purchased here. If in the area again, I will definitely be back.

Revisited on April 12th with a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed their food! I ordered Crab Cake fritters and roasted veggies this time around. Yummy! Shrimp Cocktail came with 6 massive shrimp and was the perfect appetizer! Highly recommend! Service was prompt again. We actually had the same young lady from Wednesday night. Ambiance is nice and dim

We've been coming to Rey''s for the last 15 years for special occasions for to make an occasion special. This is one of those restaurants that if you know you know it is a staple- consistently great. We enjoyed the tuna appetizer, New York strip, potatoes Au Gratin and bread pudding. The wine list offers lots of options, and we've always experienced servers who are knowledgeable and ready to provide recommendations. This dinner was one of the rare occasions when Rey himself did not stop by the table to say hello, as he is well known for his rapport with customers. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I made reservations at Rey's for my birthday, which fell on a Tuesday this year. I wasn't expecting much of a crowd, but the place was surprisingly busy. As soon as we walked in, the hostess greeted us warmly and seated us right away. She placed our menus in front of us and even gave me a birthday card, which was a nice touch. Our server came over, asked if it was our first time, and inquired about who was celebrating a birthday. After wishing me a happy birthday, he went over the day's specials and explained that the menu was à la carte. I ordered a lemon drop martini for my drink, and for my entrée, I chose the grouper. For the table, we ordered the lobster mac and cheese, greens, and mashed sweet potatoes. They also brought some bread, which was absolutely delicious. The food was excellent--flavorful without being too heavy, so I didn't feel overly stuffed. Since it was my birthday, they offered me a complimentary dessert, and I chose the crème brûlée, which was also very good. I loved the ambiance of the place, and at one point, either a manager or one of the owners came by to check on us, which showed great attention to detail. All the employees seemed to work well together, creating a cohesive experience. The vibe was perfect for a family outing, date night, or a girls' night. I would definitely return!

Place looks very neat and the food was absolutely amazing. Service was very personal. Other than that we also ordered a banana foster which was made in front of us which was a very cool experience. Oh and we also got a dessert on the house! Something that I found kinda annoying is that they ask you if you want refill for mocktails but don't tell you it's not free.

This was my first time going to this restaurant. I've never heard of this place until last week. My husband took me for my birthday and the food was great. The ambiance was very nice. We both ordered Ribeye steaks. It was cooked perfectly but my steak had a lot of fat on it. Still, the steak was well seasoned and I enjoyed every last bite. We ordered the creamed spinach and mashed sweet potatoes, which are big enough for two. I loved the sweet potatoes but the creamed spinach could've been better taste wise. Our waiter was nice, but my husband's drink wasn't refilled for a long time. Also, they have complementary valet parking. I would definitely go back to this place.

We came here for my boyfriend's birthday and it was so good! I ordered the chicken and it was so flavorful and cooked to perfection! The drinks were delicious and the service was impeccable! I can't wait to go back and I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!

I took my wife and daughter for Mother's Day, we were looking for an event restaurant at the same time as avoiding UNC, Duke and NC State graduation. A friend recommended Rey's and we were quite happy. Coincidentally we were in New Orleans a few weeks ago, we didn't book Rey's because of its New Orleans style, but we definitely felt it when we were there. I was impressed with the breadth of the menu, very challenging deciding what to order with many great options both as starters, salads and main courses. I ended up starting with the carpaccio, which had a lot of flavor outside the beef, as you sometimes just get nice meat but this was a more complete dish. I particularly liked the accompanying greens, they had quite a nice dressing. I ordered a ribeye medium rare as my main, it was also cooked perfectly and a nice steak. I added soft onions and although they were not world changing. I also found the sides simply okay. The better was the creamed spinach, which was nice but not the creamiest I have had. I did not particularly enjoy the asparagus, thin asparagus, nothing special. For dessert, we shared bananas foster, largely for the presentation and it lived up to it. Our waiter did a great job, the bananas tasted good, and they were nice enough to split it into three servings, each with sufficient ice cream. Service was very professional. Overall ambience was among the most formal I have experienced in the Triangle (very similar to Ruth Chris, not coincidentally also with NO roots), you didn't need a jacket but you would not be out of place without it. Overall, an excellent event restaurant.

Celebrated the 64th birthday of my coworker and she was excited to visit Rey's after hearing such rave reviews. Upon arriving at the restaurant we were told they don't open til 5pm but people were entering and being seated around 4:45pm. We had a private dining area since there were 14 of us. The room was nice but it was extremely hot in there. Staff turned on the air and it would fluctuate between hot and cold. Our server was very nice and energetic I forgot her name but she was very good. For me personally they don't offer enough appetizers that are not seafood based. I am allergic to shellfish so it was disappointing to see only two options were not seafood inspired. I ordered a Caesar salad, it was very basic to say the least. I wish they offered chicken or salmon to go on top of it. For my main course I ordered the French quarter chicken and a side of macaroni and cheese. The chicken was just ok. I was expecting the cheese to be oozing out of it but it wasn't. The Mac and cheese was good. It had a little kick because it's made with pimento cheese. We didn't order dessert because we brought our own but overall it was a great first time.

We sat outside this day, as the weather was mild and there wasn't any available seats inside. We ordered a fried combo and a grilled combo. TrySeafood does a lot of things right. Portion size was fairly generous. We especially love the fact they serve cleaned jumbo shrimp. Food was cooked well, shrimp was tender as was scallops. The broccoli was not tender crisp nor mushy. The potatoes and corn were delicious. While service was friendly, it was a bit slow. Also, I'm not an Old Bay fan. The grilled shrimp were seasoned with Old Bay. While the fish was crispy, I prefer a cornmeal dredge to a flour dredge. Finally, (and this could have been a me thing) the tip percentage on the screen doesn't align with the math. I intended to tip 15% - which is standard especially considering slow service. That should have been approx $8 and when I got home I realized it was approximately $16. You're not given a printed receipt and if you're in a rush and going through the process quickly it's easy to miss. Again I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure I selected the %15 option. Additionally, I've seen other restaurants that have intentionally include this practice. Would I go again, sure. I'd request a different seasoning blend or a light seasoning and check that math! We made reservations ahead of time online since it was a Holiday. First off the front staff was super friendly and got us to our table right away. Love the feel and the decor. The lighting was a tad dark but that's ok. It was still cozy and romantic. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. They had a special Valentine's Day menu. She ran down the specials by memory. She took our drink and appetizer order ( the calamari fritti) gave us time to check out the rest of the expansive menu. The drinks came and our app. The lemonades were very sweet and nicely tart from the real fruit purée and lemons. Delightful! The calamari fritti was a knock out, home run. The breading was delicious. The calamari was nice and tender. The marinara was so good. Get this is you like calamari! The sea bass Valentine's Day menu special was cooked to perfection. So flaked and moist. Seared and seasoned perfectly. They should add it to the main menu. The risotto was amazing. Creamy and flavorful. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The figure 8 stuffed flounder was delicious as well. The crab stuffing was absolutely great! The sauce over top was creamy and worked perfectly with the flounder and crab. It came with the most delicious fresh green beans with a couple nicely seasoned tomatoes. The rice pilaf was also really nice. Around this time I realized the Valentine's Day menu had Oysters Rockefeller ... and I love oysters Rockefeller. So I put in for an order of those. Best oysters Rockefeller I've had in a long time! Add these to the menu! For dessert... we ordered the apple crumb at vanilla bean ice cream. Perfect way to end out meal. Nice atmosphere inside, but recommend reservations as they fill up quickly. The Deets: Some friends/coworkers and I decided to catch up over a meal and we decided on trying out this location of Cape Fear Seafood Co. on Lake Pine Drive. I had been to the one located in the Village District (formerly Cameron Village) of DTR in the past and knew of this one opening up through Yelp. If you know me, I am usually not one for seafood but remember I had a pretty good experience at the one in DTR. We noted that it would be a good idea to have a reservation so one was made. Good thing, this place gets crowded fast, even around the 5pm point. Upon arrival, we were promptly shown to a table with menus. While walking in, this restaurant has that beach type feeling with brightly painted areas and subtle pelagic decor without going overboard. The bar area gave a warm, inviting vibe. Back to the menu, their menu is pretty expansive but not over the top multiple pages. I think even the non-seafood lover can find something to like here. We started with hush puppies for the table and I went with the appetizer sized mini crab cakes for myself. I loved the mini crab cakes and the lemon beurre blanc sauce with them, just enough for a starter and tasted great. The hush puppies were good as well but just a tiny bit too brown for me, they were a little bit more done than I'd like. I like them more of a golden finish instead of brown, just my preference. For my main dish, I went with their Cape Fear Shrimp & Grits. They are a pretty popular choice here and I remember liking them at the DTR location. They remained a great choice, they were delicious. They are very flavorful and enjoyable without being spicy, which I like as I am non-spicy food person and it seems most everywhere does their shrimp & grits spicy. I find this take on them refreshing. I would have liked more cheese grits in the serving as it seems to be like a half serving, however the shrimp as well as the creamy sauce were plentiful. Service did a good job here, checking on us periodically. In all, I liked this experience here at Cape Fear Seafood Co. for the most part and would enjoy visiting again in the future.

Not only they stopped serving lettuce wrap (sure, they have it in the menu but they didn't stock it because their lettuce supplier increased the price or whatever), they did not offer any other wrap options like a decent kbbq should have (rice wrap, radish wrap, or shisho leave...etc). The meat quality? It's the cheapest cut you could ever get. The kalbi cut is so thin and tasted old (spoiler alert, they should be thicker and higher quality..), the other unseasoned meat cut is lower quality too. The seasoned meat were so bad I had hard time enjoying it. The bulgogi did not taste like a propee bulgogi and once again, tasted old like it has been in the fridge for too long. The spicy bulgogi was so grainy and not spicy at all, almost like they're using low quality gochugaru. The Pecan pie with warm salted caramel ice cream was nothing short of a spiritual experience, and Hayley's recommendation to pair it with Rum Flip was perfect. Yes, I Ubered. Overall, this one is going to be a frequent hangout.
