This restaurant was sooo busy on a Sunday just before noon. They were on an hour wait! The bar and high tops are first come, first serve and I was able to snag a high top. Most of the staff seemed very stressed with how busy it was, but service was still good. They had $5 mimosas - yum! I had the Southern Style Benedict with potatoes (you can sub potatoes for the grits) - it was a very large portion.

I'm a Southern girl who hates grits...unless they're from Flying Biscuit. This is the only place I will eat grits because they are actually creamy and flavorful. I was shocked to be seated so quickly on a nice Saturday morning at peak time. And, we were seated in a cozy semi private area with just three high top tables. Win! The food at a Flying Biscuit is always consistent and this location lived up to the reputation. My peach mimosa was so flavorful! Yeah, I'm mentioning a drink before food. The appetizer is a biscuit with apple butter. I don't care if you're counting calories or cutting carbs, you have to have a biscuit! These biscuits are the most fluffy you will have next to those at grandma's house. I had the eggs (scrambled) with chicken sage sausage and of course, grits. I cleaned my plate because everything on it was delicious. Definitely give this spot a try!

We had a great brunch here! The pineapple salsa on the avocado toast added a refreshing flavor to it. The free biscuits are absolutely perfect and heavenly. Everyone in my group loved their food and special drinks like pancake tacos, stuffed French toast, banana matcha, chicken n waffles, and cold brew. The waitress was sweet and helpful and even on a Sunday morning they got us a table inside right away.

Something to know about me before you read my review. I am a huge breakfast head. I LOVE breakfast. A weekend morning run followed by a larger breakfast is probably the happiest that I get. And the breakfast here.... It's good. I'll start with the food. We were served a complimentary biscuit with their cranberry apple butter, which was a great start. It's tender and buttery and soft. Top notch. I ordered the stuffed French toast because the strawberry cheesecake version sounded really unique. It was tasty! I really enjoyed it. I also got the potatoes on the side and they were better than I expected. I usually prefer crispy hash browns. These potatoes were of the small, diced potatoes variety, but they were still good because they were cooked well and nicely seasoned. The ambiance and service of the restaurant are the only reason I don't give 5 stars. The service was not the most attentive I have had. And we were at a tiny table that was somewhat awkward and barely able to hold our dishes. I had to stack their coffee toppings bowls just to make it more comfortable. That all said, it's good! Don't lose sight of that. The food is worth it! And there are some unique dishes on the menu worth going back for. I look forward to my next trip!

I ordered the Chicken bisquits with gravy. Super rich and savory. The Hubs ordered the Waffles with grits, eggs, sausage and fruit. Both breakfast entrees enough for two. The biscuits with apple butter are so delish. I love the area and the artwork on the walls here. Service was a little slow but I didn't expect the food to come out quickly.

    Vegan Tofu Wrap

I really enjoyed my vegan tofu wrap, and appreciated that I was able to substitute the free biscuit for toast and the sweet potato fries for potatoes. The potatoes were a little too salty, but the spice blend and texture was very good overall. I really enjoyed my meal, and was grateful that there were three types of hot sauce at the table. Kylie and the server and training were very nice and helpful, and it's a super cute little restaurant.

Fantastic breakfast spot! The food was fresh and flavorful! The dishes we tried were delicious. They served fresh biscuits out first before the meal and yum, easily broke apart! Chicken & waffles here is a must! Portion sizes were perfect. The service was just as impressive. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. Definitely a place we would come back to for breakfast when we visit Raleigh!

We came by while in the area on a Sunday morning. We Had a Dirty Bird, waffle with chicken, egg and sausage gravy and Avacado toast along with coffee and decaf. We did not wait long for breakfast, they serve you a biscuit and Applebutter while you wait. The biscuits are very good. The Avacodo toast is one slice with chopped tomatoes and onion and balsamic glaze, I had them leave off salt and red pepper flakes. It was very good. The Dirty bird was also good with the waffle being great, light and fluffy. The restaurant is not large but very comfortable for a nice breakfast.

the flying biscuit is a staple and always gets brought up for brunch. i always try to give it another chance but am always disappointed. the food is always aesthetically pleasing but very bland. it is always packed to the brim with a very long wait. the staff is friendly enough, but i don't think it's worth it.

Where can we make a reservation? Or is it walk-ins only?

They at times make reservations the day of if you are able to reach then by phone or stop in prior to you wanting to visit.

Do they make reservations or can call early?

    You can do both

What bread is vegan? Are any pancakes vegan? Would it be possible to order a bowl with potatoes, tomatoes, spinach, avocado and vegan cheese? If so how would I order that

Good morning, I do not know what breads are vegan, however they do have began pancakes. As for the menu you can substitute pretty much anything to your liking, I hope this was helpful.

    Any vegan options?

Yes, absolutely. While it might not look like it at first glance, we will substitute tofu for any protein at no extra charge, we have vegan mozzarella, beyond burgers, and beyond sausage. So, long story short, we can manipulate a lot of our menu…

Do they have a private dining area?

Near the front is a semi private area but I don't know if it can be reserved. It's right in front of the bar area.

Are there any gluten free items?

Yes, most of our menu is naturally gluten free and everything is labeled on our menu.

Do they serve mimosas al day on saturdays?

    No.

Do they still serve the fried pimento cheese balls? I no longer see them on the online menu.

We absolutely do! They're our favorite.

There's so many things on the menu that I still want to try. When we first got to the restaurant we were interested in sitting outside but the host told us the spot that would fit us wasn't available or in the section. However, she went out of her way to talk to her manager and they accommodated us. Off to a great start service wise! That great service continued throughout our meal. Our waiter was super attentive and everything was brought out really quickly. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, both inside and out. It's a very classy spot; very upscale mid-century. I had the stuffed French toast crepe with berries added (egg battered crepe dusted with a cinnamon spice blend, filled with cheesecake custard, topped with maple syrup and house-made whipped cream). Phenomenal. I'm still thinking about that crepe a few weeks later now...I also ordered the Strawberry Citrus Smash (tangerine ginger iced tea, strawberry syrup, lime juice, served iced). Also delicious and not overly sweet. Everything here is great. I highly recommend checking it out. My oneeeee issue is that they don't take reservations. I'm sorry but I don't want to wait around for over an hour to get a table for brunch on the weekend. It's really unfortunate because I've been here with friends before and we've had to leave to go to another restaurant because of such a long wait time. The only reason I was able to try this place after that was because I went during a weekday when family was in town visiting. Many of my friends have jobs that aren't very flexible and busy family lives, so the weekends are the best times to go; but at the same time they don't have a lot of time to spare to waiting. PRESS if you see this - I highly recommend that you reconsider your reservation policy, at least for the weekends!

She brought me iced water and gave me time to look at the menu. I wanted to try so many things and I was too optimistic about ordering 3 things and finishing them myself. Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then. The place was buzzing with people and decorations so I didn't feel so alone. When it was time to pay, Christy brought me the check for me to pay at the cash register. Both Christy and the cashier were so friendly! The restaurant does have a women's and a mens restroom if needed.

A Truly Artisanal Bakery…read more I rarely leave reviews on yelp anymore, but this bakery is so impressive, it inspired me to type this down. I'm from the Bay Area and loved going to all kinds of bakery when I travel. I did not have much expectations when I came to Raleigh. I tried Paul and Jack and couple other bakeries, they were all good, but not impressive. The first thing I noticed was their Mill Room, and second I noticed that they have 100 score on hygiene. Not that I care about the score that much but still impressive. Then We got a bunch of pastries, the shortbread was the first one we tried and wow, it was so simple yet so flavorful, truly malted tasting shortbread, it has so much depth in taste. Then I had a had a ham and cheese croissant, it was on the salty side but I kept eating it when I'm not even hungry. The true winner though, is the plain croissant I got which traveled with me for 72 hours back home. I got it out of my bag, slightly flattened by all my stuff, I expect it to taste flat and meh. I put it in the oven for 6 minutes and it turned out to be the best croissant I've had. It was flaky, soft and soo flavorful. Now I cannot stop thinking about it. Lastly, I want to say that with so many pop ups, new bakeries coming up in different cities, often times we were chasing that unique flavors, that special toppings on croissants, but Boulted Bread stayed true to bread, and perfected the craft without focusing on "exotic" or "special" flavors. I truly respect this.
