Freebird Benedict with Moon Dusted Potatoes: A twist on a Benedict - Chicken tenders, chicken sausage gravy, and a poached egg on top of a split biscuit. Yum! I loved the potatoes, the seasoning was on point! Fluffy Flying Biscuit with Cranberry Apple Butter: Great biscuit. The cranberry apple butter was nice, but I think I would prefer plain butter. I like Flying Biscuit Cafe, but this particular location can be tough due to the long wait times. Luckily, my friend and I were able to grab a table near the bar without waiting too long. We both ordered a $5 mimosa to drink, which is a great deal. You also get a complimentary biscuit with jam to start and it is filling. Something to know about me before you read my review. I am a huge breakfast head. I LOVE breakfast. A weekend morning run followed by a larger breakfast is probably the happiest that I get. And the breakfast here.... It's good. I'll start with the food. We were served a complimentary biscuit with their cranberry apple butter, which was a great start. It's tender and buttery and soft. Top notch. I ordered the stuffed French toast because the strawberry cheesecake version sounded really unique. It was tasty! I really enjoyed it. I also got the potatoes on the side and they were better than I expected. I usually prefer crispy hash browns. These potatoes were of the small, diced potatoes variety, but they were still good because they were cooked well and nicely seasoned. The ambiance and service of the restaurant are the only reason I don't give 5 stars. The service was not the most attentive I have had. And we were at a tiny table that was somewhat awkward and barely able to hold our dishes. I had to stack their coffee toppings bowls just to make it more comfortable. That all said, it's good! Don't lose sight of that. The food is worth it! And there are some unique dishes on the menu worth going back for. I look forward to my next trip! read more

Waitress Abigail was really patient with us as we had food allergies questions that needed to be addressed. Each meal comes with a biscuit for everyone. This is an example of how one business in a chain to another can make a world of difference. I've gone to the one near the Raleigh Airport twice and it was a 5/5 both times. This one was FAR FROM. The waitress was ok to get us our food, but after dropping off, she decided to go have breakfast in the back room instead of checking on our table properly. Didn't do a food-check after a couple minutes, late for coffee, late for bringing apple butter, late for bringing to-go, the check, and even giving the receipt back. We got there just after opening as well, so we were one of 2 tables for her Biscuits were awesome and everything else GOOD (wasn't a fan of chicken gravy but that is MY taste), but she couldn't have cared less. After attending a social walk at Shelley Lake, we were in the mood for some brunch. I wasn't sure whether to choose the iced vanilla latte or a mimosa and your girl got the iced vanilla latte and no disappointments. (It tastes better than the French toast by the way). Wait time wise; We went around 11:30, early 12ish and it was busy. It started slowing down around 1:30 when we were leaving. The server was very prompt and got our coffee and tea orders right after we sat down. We started off with the complimentary biscuits and cranberry apple butter - the biscuits were deliciously fluffy, buttery, and large, and were complimented perfectly by the sweet and tangy cranberry apple butter! The biscuits had sugar sprinkled on top which was a nice, fun touch. I love how they give you complimentary biscuits because we would have ordered some otherwise. My husband got the Hot Honey Butter Chicken Waffle - the chicken was nicely crunchy and had lots of spice! This was balanced out by the sweetness from the honey and syrup. The waffle was nice and fluffy with a crunchy exterior. I ordered a custom omelette - egg white with smoked salmon, goat cheese, peppers, and onion. It was exactly what I was looking for! It came with a side of creamy grits and they were exactly that - very creamy and extremely buttery, can't complain there. Overall this was a fun breakfast spot with lots of menu options and we will be back! Our server/bartender was very attentive even though she was admittedly very busy- she did great work! I also appreciated their willingness to share this information. The menu was expansive- not overly creative but had just enough diversity and complexity. They provide complimentary biscuits which are the perfect combination of salty, doughy, sweet and airy. I had the California Dreaming- basically Avocado toast with fried eggs and diced tons - eggs were cooked perfect- nice runny yolk. I do wish I had been given an option of how I preferred my eggs though. The avocado with sea salt was good. But overall it was just kind of boring. My daughter had the breakfast burrito- again it was kind of plain - even with salsa and sour cream. We split a side of gravy and biscuits- because their name is Flying Biscuit!! Honestly- they were good- the biscuits were sooooooo good- but the gravy was too thick and cold. It did have nice large chunks of sausage that we enjoyed! The meals come with complimentary biscuits which is really nice. They were warm, buttery, and soft. I was pleasantly surprised with my sandwich. Things like bacon, eggs, sausage and potatoes....Waffle House, Eggs Up Grill, First Watch--they all do way better. The biscuits and gravy is really good or you can just get the cranberry apple butter that they make onsite if you're not into delicious sausage gravy. Biscuits are a little dry but not so much as "choke me daddy" dry biscuits...you shouldn't have a hard time breathing when eating them but I like my biscuits a tad bit more moist. The service here has really gone downhill hence my 2 star review. I would probably give it 4 otherwise. Servers often take your order and are never to be seen again, no refills, no condiments like hot sauce, no missing items....they bring your drinks the first time, take your order, then never bring you a coffee refill and only show up when it's time to get the check demanding their 20-25% tip as if they were doing their job. I had a particularly bad experience recently when I stopped in just to get a coffee. Waited at the "wait for host to seat you" sign for five minutes, no one was interested in seating me so I went to the bar where no less than 3 employees completely ignored me. I think I must have caught them during changeover, it was around 1pm maybe 2pm....not a single employee acknowledged me after being there for 15 minutes. I ended up leaving without anyone saying a single word to me. So if you want good service, go to Waffle House where at least they will greet you when you come in. read more
