Close your eyes and feel the breeze. Take a bite into a Swingle and imagine yourself in Key West. When you open your eyes, you realize that the views differ from those in the Florida keys. However, with a close view of Lady Liberty and Lower Manhattan, enjoying a Swingle on the pier next to Steve's is certainly a must-do when you are in Red Hook. Now let's talk about the chocolate covered Swingle bars. We tried both the raspberry and the raspberry blonde. What a great idea to not only cover a key lime pie with chocolate but also add a layer of raspberry jam in between?! While both the dark chocolate and white chocolate were thick, chocolatey, and crunchy; I personally preferred the dark chocolate one as it had the right amount of Belgian chocolate flavor that contrasted perfectly against the key lime flavor from the pie and the sweet and tart raspberry jam. It was just the perfect dessert on a bar! I am already looking forward to trying the Chipotle pepper flavored one next time. read more

I mean.... I don't really know what to say... this place is pretty self explanatory except that... well Steve freezes his key lime pies then dips it in chocolate. GENIUS. I got the classic Swingle. Personally, I didn't enjoy the filling as much and I wonder if it's because it is frozen. The graham cracker crust was delicious though, and it was novel to have the whole treat encased in chocolate. I enjoy key lime pies, but I couldn't get the 4-inch tart because it only last 1-2 hours per the store. I'll have to come back and try the fresh tart rather than the frozen treats! I finally made it to Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pie BK location. It has been years of me wanting to make the trek and it happened last Sunday. They were only a 15 walk from IKEA Red Hook. They have lots of outdoor picnic tables. It seems there is always a line to order your food. I came home with my 8 inch pie. You can have the fresh or frozen version. Since I was traveling back to Qns, I go the latter. Looking forward to eating this for two weeks as my dessert. read more

Found this place while showing a friend around Red Hook. Authentic key lime pie sounded like too good a thing to pass up. When I saw the Yelp check-in offer for 10% off a large pie, my mind was made up. I took home a fresh pie, chilled it in the fridge, then plated a few slices for my friends and me. We loved it! By far the tastiest key lime pie I've ever had. Delicious crust and to-die-for filling. I see what all the fuss is about! I'm looking forward to savoring this pie over the next few days, and it's reassuring to know that acquiring more pie is just a simple trip to Red Hook away. read more

Unique spot serving up multiple sizes of both traditional and strawberry key lime pies (including personal sized pies), as well as frozen chocolate covered key lime pies on a stick! In addition to their key lime pies they also have a few drinks, including coffee-based ones I got a frozen key-lime pie on a stick and it was pretty tasty. Plenty of parking 8.5 read more

Exceptional key lime pie. Should have bought more than one. Fantastic find while exploring Red Hook. Highly recommend.

Sorry, but I was underwhelmed. For a place supposedly focused on Key Lime Pies, I wasn't impressed. The first thing I noticed was, right out of the refrigerator, the pie was mushy. I expected to take it out and let it get to room temperature to soften up and be more palatable. As far as taste, I was unimpressed. My suggestion is to scrape the zest from the limes and add that. I have a recipe for Atlantic Beach Pie, which is readily available if you do a search. The first time I made it, it was mediocre. After that, I started zesting the citrus (lemons, limes, or a combo) and adding that to the mix. Game change. I would put MY version of Atlantic Beach Pie, a summer kind of thing, against Steve's pies any day. The zest makes the difference. Maybe Steve should think about adding the zest. read more

I find it really crazy that I have never reviewed the best Key Lime Pie ever. I am ashamed at the the amount of times I have visited Steve's in the past year and never did my duty to give them a rave review. I have tried every pie size, every pie popsicle and they all are amazing. I buy pies year round, and like to buy them frozen since they travel well. On a summer day you can buy a small pie and sit by the water and enjoy your treat. I need them to stay in Brooklyn for ever!! read more

I love keylime pie and couldn't wait to try this spot. When I arrived I parked nearby. I walked up and ordered through a window with a young man. I ordered the classic swingle and it was dipped in chocolate. I never had a chocolate covered keylime pie. I paid close to $6 and left. When I got in the car, I dug in and boy was it good. The combination of the chocolate and keylime pie was great. The crust was so good also. I definitely would come back for more. read more

What a great spot in Red Hook right next to a beautiful park and pier. Magnificent views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. There was no line when we arrived around noon and I treated myself to the raspberry swingle, and my girlfriend had the classic swingle. We both really enjoyed how they weren't extremely tart and the fact that they were covered with delicious chocolate was even better. They were semi-frozen when we got them but warmed up a lot with the sun and we're just down right delectable. read more

Great spot, kind of hidden, next to the water in Brooklyn. If you like key like pie, you will love this place.

Is it weird to have a favorite key lime pie place? Is that something people do in today's day and age? (Was it something people did in other days and ages?) Are there a lot of key lime pie places to begin with? All those questions swarming around my head quickly disapated as soon as I plunged my fork into an individual key lime pie from Steve's. Safe to say, this is my favorite Key Lime Pie place in NY, if not the entire world As opposed to other places that serve a lot of options but are known for one good dish, Steve's focuses on what's on the sign out front - Key Lime Pie. You get the option to order your pie in either individual size, or a larger size that can (but doesn't have to if you're not in a sharing mood) feed 4 or 8 people. Little picnic tables in front of the window let you dig right in and enjoy. The pie is creamy and tart highlighting the delicious Florida key limes and a crumbley graham cracker crust gives a nice taste to finish on. The only downside about eating in front of the store is that the plastic forks they provide aren't sturdy enough to really dig into the pie (that and there's never enough pie to really get your fill) read more

If you're craving Key Lime pie and can't get to Key West, Steve's is the place to come. Located off the beaten path in Red Hook, you'll need to check the map to get here but once you do, I promise you'll be rewarded with a silky creamy key lime filling and a crunchy graham cracker crust. The smallest option (around $5) is a good size for one or two people. I wish I had gotten more. They also have an individual frozen chocolate covered key lime pie. I think I'll try that next time! read more

I am a "Steve's Key Lime Pie (unpaid) evangelist - meaning I just take out-of-town friends there all the time because I think the pie is absolutely 100$ Dee-licious. Anyway, I took my former post-college roommate and her husband and son here - who I havent seen in many years - and after praising it to the high heavens, the pie we got was awful! It had none of that tart and sweet flavor whatsoever. Just...no flavor. I was embarrassed. Did we just get an "off" pie, or have standards gone down? I don't know the answer to that. I am giving Steve's some stars from all my past trips there. (Before this weekend, it would have gotten 5 stars.) Will go back in September and try again (maybe Steve and his wife are on vacation)? read more

Good key lime pie. I was wandering deep into Red Hook and found this little tiny gem next to the park. The only one shop that open alone among the factory. Key lime was a highlight. Obviously it's good but I don't feel much different from the commercial one like Costco. However, the Raspberry Blonde was a MUST. It's frozen like ice bar but has many layers inner. Key lime, Raspberry and white Chocolate. $8 hmmm $$$ They have the original one if I have a chance to visit Res Hook again, I'll definitely stop by again. Be aware, their coffee was so freaking hot and super strong. read more

This little shop is soooo adorable. For plain key lime pies, they show the size of the tins at the door. For the specialty flavors, they come in a little lollipop form called a Swingle. They also offer fresh squeezed limeade or coffee. Plenty of benches right in front of the store, or you can walk over to the park/pier area. It was a special treat to see the Statue of Liberty from here! I was able to find street parking a little down the way. read more

By virtue of being one of only two pie places in America (trivia might be outdated) that actually uses key limes, is reason enough to venture into the industrial wild to satisfy your novelty craving. Admittedly, this location is a bitch to get to. I'm a city boy. I don't drive. My roommate however, recently leased a car because he's originally from Staten Island and NYC rules don't apply to them, does. So after half a decade of having Steve's Pie Place bookmarked, I can finally put my Dexter fantasy to rest. And I gotta say: Yeah, it's good. What surprised me the most is the texture. I guess I'm used to good old fashioned mass produced highly processed pies, where filling is normally dense; the cream? was about two textures away from being considered a liquid... goop? Not a draw back, just taken aback. The filling tasted like limes as predicted but you don't really get a hint of key. Sorry guys. Might I suggest munching on something with a more metallic taste that has iron... possibly fishy on occasion? Anywho, I went in with the possible apprehension of sour but no, the key lime pie was possibly as close to a homemade pie made back in the day when we actually had to use fruit and our wives wore sexy aprons. I dunno, I wasn't around for the 50s. Pie Place ;) read more

Not normally in this part of the city, so had to try one of these popular pies on a late Saturday afternoon. Small kiosk up front where you place your order and bring to one of the wooden table-benches outside. Between two people, shared the 4" Tart ($5.50) - which came out within a few minutes. Pie looks good in it's small aluminum container - a crumbly crust engulfing a rich tart center. Glad this was shared as it was a lot of sweetness and tart to have the whole thing in one go. Looks like you can take several to go, as well as have delivery. Next time would want to try "the Swingle" to see if that's the better item. read more

Wow! With puckered face I declare this is THE best key lime pie I ever tasted!!! I'm no connoisseur but this much is true. I have been on somewhat of a quest to find the best key lime pie for over 20 years. I just heard about Steve's last week when I was in the neighborhood for a Latinx art exhibit. My friend told me there was a key lime spot nearby. I got my son, to ask his friend who lives in the neighborhood. Thank you to my son Ralfie and his friend Ed for guiding me to this hidden gem in Red Hook. I had the regular on a stick-dipped in dark chocolate and with raspberry sauce dipped in dark and bought a pie to take home--plain original key lime without chocolate. I was iffy about the chocolate shell in a stick but all bites were divine!! Go get your key lime pie fix. Can't believe this place was so near. Will def be back. Window service only. Wood picnic tables outside. Right by the waterfront. Goegeous view of Lady Liberty. Great weather to enjoy this!!! read more

Seriously, a key lime pie shop all the way in Red Hook? YES. A pilgrimage here is required by LAW, I'm sorry I don't make the rules. Take public transit all the way here. Walk. CRAWL. I don't care, it's worth it. Steve's key lime pie, the frozen mini thing dipped in chocolate and on a stick is such a delight. Tart and textured and perfect. Try the raspberry one. Have two. I'm a huge fan of key lime pie and have always had this on my bucket list to try if I was ever in Red Hook. Well, finally made the trek so here I am! We passed this between eating and drinking one fine day and just HAD to stop. It is a teeny-tiny store that has various sizes in Key Lime pies. For some reason, I am always craving this so it was GREAT for me. As much as I wanted to eat a large pie by myself, I decided to get (and share) a smaller pie. Although I got less pie than I was hoping for, I was still SO HAPPY with the pie. It was so fresh and delicious. If I am in the area again, I will 100% scope out another pie, probably get some to-go if I am going straight home after. read more

Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies was the midway stop on our Brooklyn Food Tour. We read so much about this place and decided that it was a must-try given the reviews. The business appears to be operated out of a redone storage unit; the environment is super cool and they have picnic-style seating right outside the establishment where customers can enjoy their treats. We opted for the The Raspberry Swingle and a Single Serve Key Lime Pie. Prices were very reasonable and service was quick and friendly. The Raspberry Swingle - Not sure if this was just a me thing, but I wasn't the biggest fan of this one. I felt like the raspberry overpowered the flavor of the actual pie, and the chocolate seemed unnecessary. I was a bit confused how it ended up tasting, so I guess this option just wasn't for me. I'm sure other people who prefer a mix of flavors might like this one better, but unfortunately I felt like the Swingle obscured the actual flavor of the key lime pie. Single Serve Key Lime Pie - This was mind blowing. I'm so glad I got this, else I would have left here with a mediocre impression from the Swingle. The crust was light and crumbly and the pie filling was rich. I could definitely taste the key lime flavor; it was almost the perfect bite of dessert. I could honestly come here again and again for this and never get tired of it. Overall, I think there's something for everyone here. While the Swingle was not what I was looking for, I'm sure there are some who would prefer it over the regular pie. Regardless, I'll definitely be back for some more Key Lime Pie-it's truly the best I've ever had! read more
