So mediocre! I'm confused how this place is famous! I would not get it again! The key lime pie did not have ANY lime flavor and left me feeling disappointed. I did enjoy the graham cracker crust which was tasty but overpowered each bite. We also got a chocolate dipped frozen raspberry key lime pie on a stick. It was refreshing on a hot day but again, there was no key lime pie flavoring. It tasted like a chocolate covered raspberry. The personal sided pie was $6.50 and the frozen chocolate one of a stick was $9. The line was about 10 people deep when I joined it and took about 10 min. There was only one person working behind the counter. They have picnic tables outside to eat at or you can walk over to the park and sit on a bench to enjoy your treat. First off. The pie is yuck!! Too sweet and "lime" tastes weird. The owner Steve is annoyingly arrogant and will defend his pie ad-nauseum. What business owner has time to reply to every review ?? He thinks he owns this little corner of Red Hook, and posts illegal no-parking signs claiming the spots belong to him. There are businesses to the left that need to park, and the waterfront park visitors needs to park also. The guy is so annoying and his overpriced product is at best mediocre. read more

Knowing this now, would definitely recommend patrons come to visit when it is warm outside...it can be very windy and brisk in Red Hook during the winter. We ordered 1 classic 4 inch key lime pie, and 1 Classic Swingle - a 4 inch key lime pie dipped in Belgian chocolate. To our surprise, the Swingle was absolutely delicious! The chocolate coating was bright and fruity and complimented the key lime pie nicely. The standard key lime pie was good, but the crust was a bit crumbly for our liking and the custard was lacking a punch. That said, it is still a solid key lime pie. One is located in Key West, FL and the other is located in Red Hook Brooklyn (spoiler: it's Steve's Key Lime Pies!) You walk up to a window and order what you want so you're technically not stepping foot inside. Raspberry Swingle (6/10): A Swingle is a small 5-inch Key Lime Pie that has been dipped in chocolate and served like an ice cream popsicle on a stick. I never seek out key lime pies so take my rating/review with a grain of salt. I thought that the dark chocolate shell really overpowered the flavor of the lime/pie. What a treat this little key lime pie shop brings to the neighborhood! As someone who doesn't even like key lime pies, I enjoyed this a lot. We arrived 10 minutes before closing at 7pm on a Sunday and there was a line of about 15 people in front of us. The line went by quickly as you just order, pay, and get your key lime pie right away. I noticed he continued to serve everyone until there weren't anymore customers even if it was past closing time. I want to assume it was the owner himself serving at the window (but maybe it could be an employee); either way, he was super friendly and nice. He happily welcomed each customer with such enthusiasm and kindly helped me when I asked for my $1 off with Yelp checkin. Even though a single mini Key Lime Pie ($6) was enough, I also wanted to try the Raspberry Blonde Swingle ($8). It was such a nice balance of tartness and sweetness that was so smooth. While I enjoyed the swingle, I wish the white chocolate option didn't have the raspberry since that was too sour for me, but I'm not personally a fan of regular chocolate. Needless to say, it was still delicious and I finished both by myself. Make sure you grab some napkins as the treat gets a bit messy.
