I've been meaning to try these key lime pies for some time after seeing it featured on some Snapchat platforms and boy I'm glad I sure did! If you see a line, don't let that scare you - it went by quick and the pies are worth the wait! I found the key lime had the perfect amount of tartness and the chocolate really compliments the pie... and super easy to eat a pie on a stick, who would've thought! Can't wait to come back the next time I'm in Red Hook! read more

I'm a big fan of Keylime pie. So much so that I booked marked this place and told my better half that we have to get a pie before we go back home. On our last full day we got our hands on their Keylime pie. With anticipation I took a small bite just waiting to taste the tartness you would think you'd taste. So I was surprised that I didn't taste that. I told my better half to try it and watched her expression. She didn't make that face of oh my but a meh. I took another bite (btw I did like the crust of it) thinking that I may have not gotten a big enough piece, but the same thing. To me IMHO, the pie tasted more eggy rather than that tangy, tart flavor. Maybe it was a bad batch or our taste buds were off. I hate to say this, but out of our food journey to NYC this was the most disappointing thing that I've eaten. Seeing all the 5 star reviews, I'm thinking we had a bad batch. Hey it happens as everyone is human and things happen. I know this as a friend of ours is a great Baker and in one batch of cookies he forgot an ingredient and he didn't realize until someone said something and then he realized what he left out. So I'm giving this place the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we will try it again or get one of those chocolate dipped ones the next time we are in town. read more

It was quite the adventure to find this little hidden place but it was so worth it. The idea of having frozen key lime pie dipped in chocolate seemed odd at first but after trying it.. I think it might be one of the best dessert combinations. We tried the Original Swingle at first which came out a little over $6 with tax. With the every bite, you get a nice crunch from the chocolate, a simple crumbly crust inside and soft limey center. The dark chocolate was not too sweet and absolutely fantastic. After devouring it, we went back for seconds for the Raspberry Swingle which was also great. I recommend letting the raspberry defrost more before eating. If you're ever in Red Hook you MUST stop by for this delicious treat! read more

Their Keylime pies are delicious of course. When I go visit my daughter and her family in Brooklyn I try to get the opportunity to go to Steve's. The people work there are just lovely and Steve's really has a place in the community. They take part in special events and fundraisers. I was there for the Barnacle parade and it did not disappoint. It was actually a parade to commemorate hurricane Sandy coming through Redhook and causing devastation. But this was a celebration of life and rebirth. And of course Steve's contributed by giving out small sizes of Keylime pies to every person who wanted one. Thank you. read more

Best key lime pie ever!!! So fresh and tastes wonderful!! Arrived cold and packaged well. We will definitely order again.

awww.. this key lime pie was sooo good. Dont wait for the summer to get some. guess what? Its January and theres no line!! The coffee was real good too. Due to covid, they are only selling full pies right now. But if you're going out to Red Hook for some pie, you better bring some back for the rest of the fam anyway. read more

I had my first key lime pie in Miami back in February and have been addicted ever since- very weird. One day, I was on instagram and it was almost like they heard me talk about trying to find good key lime pies in NY- insidertravel posted something about Steve's. I could not stop talking about wanting to go there so my fiance brought me there. It is tucked in what seems like the middle of no where in the red hook area of brooklyn but that was not an issue for us haha. They are located near the water so you can get a nice walk in before or after visiting this shop but when we went, it was a little chilly so we got the pie and left! We got a 8 inch pie to share at home but I couldn't wait so I got a chocolate covered keylime pie- served on a stick! Personally think that the chocolate added a nice touch but I didnt need it to be satisfied. The key lime pie had a nice tang and was super rich and dense! This is a place I see myself going back to when the warmer weather is here! read more

Service in here was excellent. Such a gem to find in the area! Who can say no to key lime pie???? We shared a coffee, had the classic key lime and the raspberry chocolate key lime pop. I was so happy when we were given the organic milk for our coffee!!! The key lime pie was my favorite. I felt the raspberry filling chocolate pop became way too sweet. I can imagine on a nice hot day how refreshing it would be. read more

i didnt understand what the hype is all about. The park next to it deserves the hype; great views and seating. Now back to the pie - it was OK. Nothing amazing nor memorable. It tastes like a typical key lime pie - tart plus a little sweet depending on what dipping you ordered this in. read more

Too bad I didn't find out about this place earlier. Came across the pie shop as my family relaxed at the pier adjacent. We had the regular key lime and the raspberry swingle. The flavor of the key lime pie was the best I've had. Crust and filling was the perfect. The raspberry swingle was a chocolate covered key lime pie with raspberry portion on top. It was satisfying on a warm day. Prices here are ehh but the quality is superb so it's worth the try. read more

Steve's came highly recommended by a foodie friend, so on a recent visit to Ikea (y'all, it's five minutes away--if you're already in the neighborhood...) I swung by for some pie. I should say now that I LOVE key lime pies. There's something about that tart creaminess that really does it for me--especially in the summer heat. Steve's delivers on the promise -- it's definitely good. The crust is crumbly and well-baked, and the pie is creamy--much thicker than most key lime pies, which made me want to dive down face first into it--but I wish it had been a little more tart. If you're not into that thick creaminess, maybe a few minutes in the freezer would help? I'm going to try it with the slice that's left and see if I love it more. We also tried the swizzle, which wasn't a hit with either of us (why mess with perfection?) but wasn't bad, just REALLY intense with the raspberry and chocolate flavors. People with a more significant sweet tooth might be more into it. read more

I ordered the original small key lime pie and the fiancé and I didn't finish it, there is this off putting bitter note at the end. It's not a favorite key lime pie, was so hopeful for more. Definitely had better while I was living in Florida and better from a grocery store key lime pie. Maybe it was a bad batch, but then what does that say about consistency? read more

The key lime pie was very good, though maybe not the best I've ever had in my entire life (I prefer a slightly more solid graham cracker crust). But I'm still happily giving this place five stars because, though one's graham cracker crust texture preferences are subjective, there's no denying that this place kills it in every other way. I absolutely love a store that sells just one thing, is obsessed with that one thing, and does it well. This is certainly the case with Steve and his key lime pie. You can choose from three different sizes of the pie itself, along with some frozen, chocolate covered varieties on sticks which are called Swingles. Personally I'd recommend the classic pie as I think the Swingle is a little too messy and chocolatey for my taste. They also have coffee, a perfect complement to the sweet treat you're about the eat. The guy behind the counter (not sure if it was Steve himself or someone else) was very nice, helpful, and suggested we take plenty of napkins with the Swingles as they definitely drip everywhere. It's a tiny place, along with some tables outside to enjoy your dessert. Don't forget to check the benches for chocolate drippings from other customers who didn't heed the dude's advice to get napkins! A couple of us ended up with some unfortunate brown blobs on our butts :( This is the kind of independent specialty business that gets me super excited and I hope it makes your day as much as it did mine! read more

So Key Lime Pie is almost a non existent dessert now, almost seems somewhat of a old timers thing. I still really like it because I like the tart flavor. They just recently moved to the new location a few months ago, but it's only steps away from the original location. It's still located in nowheresville Red Hook, but it's only a 5 minute drive to IKEA, if that makes it slightly better. The location is basically a small store front with picnic benches outside. Also, there is a ton of signage around the area telling you where the store is. The food: 4" tart- So this is what made this place famous. I really love the pie filling, it's tart, smooth and has a good mouth feel. The crust on the other hand is a graham cracker crust that obliterates when you cut into it. For me, I like my pie crust to be packed tighter with a crunchy bottom. The crust doesn't even seem like a crust, it seems more like a barrier from the filling touching the aluminum tin. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=APPmd0d08ICKa-XSqsAExg&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Raspberry Swingle- holy moly, the raspberry has a kick. This is a key lime pie on a stick with a raspberry filling covered completely in dark chocolate. So first things first, you have to wait a few minutes while the chocolate outside melts a little, found this out the hard way =( So the raspberry is very pronounced in the dessert, I really only remember tasting the raspberry and the dark chocolate. It's super sweet, the dark chocolate is nice, but this is something you should share if you get it. I say stick with the regular pies. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=QELk5FF3kww29buJbgyk1Q&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA read more

Today is a wet, rainy, hot awful day and all my outdoor plans are washed up. What to do? Aha, the Yelping List! On the top of the list from Jennifer C. is Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies in Brooklyn; sounds like a road trip. Well, speed and rainy days on the BQE sucks, anyway driving to this place seem easy until you get off the highway and negotiate the streets of Red Hook; one-way streets, streets that end or disappear, too many STOP signs but I found IKEA twice and I found the food trucks of Red Hook! Finally I received a sign from G.... I meant saw the big sign with a lime picture and an arrow "TURN LEFT HERE. First driveway on the left." Thank you to who ever is watching over me. The place is kind of cool to visit and the grounds are fun to explore but I am here for key lime pie. I brought four for the family and ate one in the parking lot. Delicious, the lady behind the counter recommend chilling them first. Oh.... They are good any way and worth the trip. Price: 4" pies are $4, 8" pies are $15, 10" pie are $25. ******** The morning After - Wow! Chilled Key Lime is even more delicious! The tartness really stands out. read more

Discovered this little spot with my friend when we went to Louis Valenino Jr., Park. The lady that was working was friendly and helped answer any questions I had. I ordered a key lime pie to try and it came out to be about $6. The crust was a bit crumbly, but the filling was yummy; tart and subtle. I thought it was pretty good, but not sure if it was worth the size. I do want to try their pies dipped in chocolate next time though! That sounded really good, but I wanted to try their original. If you're in the area, I would still recommend stopping by to try their pies! read more

Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie - The Raspberry Swingle - Bakeries Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Tried the original and the white chocolate raspberry. Both were good, but just good. The actual key lime filling was very minimal with a standard graham cracker crust that had a salty aftertaste. The key lime filling itself was missing flavor and i was surprised there was no zest in the filling. The white chocolate raspberry was better but i will say the raspberry needs to be thicker, it oozes everywhere. I've had many varieties and was hoping for a strong competitor to Key West's pies. read more

I grew up in Alabama and have had many key lime pies in my life, including in Key West. Steve's is right up there with the greats - it really does taste like fresh key lime (not "hint of lime" like some mediocre pies I've had before), and the crust is simple and good. It's nothing fancy, but it doesn't need to be fancy. It's pie. I had a dark chocolate raspberry swingle, and it was the perfect cold treat on a summer evening. I also tried my friend's small regular pie and it was delicious. If you're in Manhattan, I recommend taking the ferry over since Steve's is just a short walk from the ferry stop. read more

After eating at hometown, my friend suggested we head over to Steve's to get some pie. At this point i was so full i could barely breathe, but a short walk sounded nice (even if it was freezing cold). I stepped inside the small shop and you can tell it's a small family business. I took a look at the prices and was a bit skeptical. $30 for a 10" is like 24 blackbirds prices. But my friends said I'd enjoy it, so i bought one to bring home for the family to try. The man behind the counter (I'm going to guess Steve) pulled out a plastic sealed cardboard box containing my pie. He also placed a 3 in pie on top, which was complimentary. This is a really great gesture, especially since the pie is all wrapped up and i was blindly buying. I shared some of it with my friends before i took the last bite. The crust is nice crumbly graham cracker crust that holds well as you cut and serve. The pie filling is creamy and light, without running. The flavor profile is refreshing, where it's just sweet enough, not tart at all, but retains that lovely key lime freshness. It's well worth the $30 because they use freshly squeezed key limes. I also believe they grow their limes indoors (i think). read more

Food: I tried the original key lime pie, I normally love key lime pies but this wasn't my favorite. The crust was very nice and not overwhelmingly sweet, but the pie itself wasn't very tart. I usually like key lime pies with more of a bite and kick. This pie didn't really hit the spot for me. Brew: free double filtered tap water, great! But they charge you for a cup and ice! not so great. After spending over $7 for a little pie, you would think water would be complementary. So as a tip bring your own bottle of you want to quench your thirst. Tip: They have some tables out in the front, facing lovely UPS trucks but I suggest you forgo that and just walk down to the water about 3 mins away and enjoy your pie with the beautiful Statue of Liberty and one world trade as your back drop. read more

Somehow, I found myself in Red Hook on an unusually warm day in the heart of winter; it reminded me of a recent trip to Florida, so it was only more fitting that I tried Steve's Key Lime Pie. There are different sizes of the key lime pie you can order (4, 8 or 10in pies) and different kinds of pie, including the Classic (standard key lime) and the Swingle (key lime pie dipped in chocolate with raspberry jam). I chose the smallest size of the Classic to share since we were heading to lunch, but if you are a sweet tooth or like citrusy desserts, the 4in pie is truly a single-serving dessert. I'll be upfront...I'm not much of a sweet tooth and especially do not like tart, citrusy desserts, but Steve's Classic key lime pie was a nice surprise. The graham crust was perfectly crumbly and delicious, while the key lime pie filling was not too tart and you could taste the freshly squeezed key lime. As solid as it was, it didn't change my view of Key Lime pies, but if you're in the area, I recommend trying one. read more

Stopped at Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies on Saturday afternoon. Did not really know what to expect, but The Raspberry Blonde Swingle proved a game-changer for me. Quality: I love key lime pie. So much so that a few years ago I spent my birthday bouncing around Key West trying the highest rated key lime pies in the area. So, I came in ready to dismiss, but then I saw the Swingle menu and The Raspberry Blonde Swingle, was the frozen pie dessert I didn't know was missing from my life. A mini key lime tart complete with crust, covered with raspberry and then dipped in white chocolate. It sounds like so many things could go wrong, and it hits all sorts of flavors, but blends together so nicely. Tart, salty, fruity, and sweet. It is a lot, and certainly won't be for everyone, but it is absolutely for me. Quantity: The Swingle is like a mini pie on a stick, definitely big enough to split. Value: $7.75 for The Raspberry Blonde Swingle. Ambiance: Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies is located at the south west corner of Red Hook in Brooklyn. Currently just a window in the side of a warehouse, but I assume a walk-in store normally, it doesn't need much more. They have a few picnic tables out front, but there is also a lovely park that looks out towards the Statue of Liberty steps away. Just expect some motorcycle noise from the nearby inspection station. Crowd: On a beautiful afternoon there were a bunch of people out enjoying Swingles and slices of pie. I also saw quite a few customers walk away with full pies in tow. Service: They are operating out of a window, but hard to tell if it is really much different than their usual operation. Parking: Street parking is plentiful in the area. read more

This place was terrific! I can't even express to you how long I've waited to go to this place, but who ever winds up in Red Hook? I was so excited when my family had a car for the day that I literally planned our entire afternoon around finally going here (and Hometown BBQ nearby) - and I was not disappointed! Yes, it's far out there. But once you're there, you're right by the water, the pier, and a mini park, so you've got a perfect place to enjoy your key lime pie in peace. I didn't get to try the Swingle (the chocolate covered mini pie on a popsicle stick), but we all split a regular pie and LOVED it! The ratio of graham crust to pie was perfect, and the pie's consistency wasn't too runny and wasn't too stiff either. Totally delicious. The guy who sold us our pie made a comment about how they don't offer plates because they're not technically a restaurant, but it didn't matter - we used pieces of foil and it was fine. Word to the wise: there are no restrooms, so come prepared - but if you're making the effort to come all the way out here, then you can definitely plan a restroom stop somewhere along the way. read more
