Over cooked pork steak, bbq sweet greens, Mac and gritty cheese, rock fishy fish
Larry D.

We had the fried chicken Fried fish Mac and cheese Greens Whatever the rice is Food was not good at all. Received our meals for the 4 of us. We ordered 3 of the sweet bbq greens. When our food was delivered...no greens. They acted as if we hadn't ordered the greens. They did check the ticket to see what was ordered. We were a fan of none of it. They use too much sugar in their ingredients. The pork was good flavored, but was over cooked. The chicken was crispy but under cooked and too sweet. The Mac and cheese was gritty. The fish was too fishy. I've never had rock fish and never will again. The greens seemed to have baby rays in it. The spicey flavor. And I'm not sure what hard crunch was in the rice. But it was bland. They use "southern food" to classify the cuisine. It's cosplaying soulfood with heavy hints of bougie jolliebee. The decor and design of the restaurant is nice. Staff were pretty non existent. I counted 5 people there and 6 by the time we left. They may be 1 of 1 but we are 1 and done.

Overall a cutesy spot to stop by for brunch. Our food took a really long time to come out and the table that sat down after us got their food first. Staff was apologetic. Besides that our food was good. We ordered the pickle plate expecting pickles but the staff was kind enough to remove it from our table. Nice spot for a girls day.

Hamachi Tostada: "Tuna" [sic], avocado, umami mayo & salsa "matcha" [sic], crispy tostada ($14 each) - MUST GET!

4.5 STARS I've been trying to explore more of the East Bay so next up: The Nut. Following that, The D (Danville), and The Moan (San Ramon). Ok, in all seriousness - from the team behind World Famous HotBoys Chicken and Lita, I was really impressed with Stereo41's food....for a "vibey" place. Cuz, IMHO...vibey places usually have mid food. While we had rezzies for Sunday dinner, it seemed like one wasn't needed because we were the only ones there. Maybe they're better known for their nightlife and it gets poppin' later at night when there's a DJ. M E N U In Mid-August 2026, they transitioned from Middle Eastern cuisine with Japanese influences to a Modern Southern & Creole concept. Note: We initially received a mismatched brunch and dinner menu with their old pricing which was replaced with a new dinner one with increased prices. Full bar. F O O D * Hamachi Tostada w/ yellowtail, avocado, umami mayo & salsa macha, crispy tostada ($14 each) A signature item from their original concept/menu, this is a must order! Great contrasting flavors and textures, the hamachi was fresh and buttery with a creamy, smoky kick from the accompaniments. * Short Rib Pepper Pot w/ 8 oz. Beef Short Rib w/ sauce of peppers, herbs ($34) Rich, meltingly tender short ribs with a deeply savory sauce and a gentle kick of heat. Teeth are optional! * Southern Fried Chicken w/ hot honey, melted butter (4 pc - $32) Incredibly juicy and tender with a crackly, crunchy batter. Flavorful but not overly salty, tho I wish there was more hot honey for a sweet heat. Accompanying hot sauce was too mild. * SIDES -- Grits: North Carolina stone ground grits w/ hot sauce, lemon ($10) - For the small portion, $3 to add cheese?! So, we didn't. Deliciously thick and creamy with a savory sweetness and hit of lemon for acid. SO good with the short ribs. -- Collards w/ ham hock, onion, chilis ($12) Highly recommended by our server....UGH, this was hella bomb! Simmered with ham hocks and bacon fat, the collards were tender and earthy...swimming in an addictively rich, soulful, and tangy broth. Gripe: Sides are advertised as "family-style" but we found ourselves rationing as if we're in a famine. They're def meant for one person. S E R V I C E Not the most welcoming reception from the co-owner/manager (?) but things quickly turned around when our server, Genesis arrived to our table. She's so warm and personable with such positive vibes. Love her! We were the only ones there so food service was fast. A M B I A N C E Trendy and swanky with a beautiful marble bar, plushy horseshoe-shaped booths, hi-fi listening lounge, DJ booth, and moody lighting. Great place for GNO or a hot date. Front patio is covered from the elements with lush greenery and colorful mural. I know we had an early 5:15 pm dinner but there was no music on the patio, so the vibe felt more like eating in a library. Overall, we really enjoyed Stereo41's Southern & Creole Cuisine with a modern flair and fine dining techniques. Too bad, I can't speak for their nightlife cuz this geriatric millennial is knocked out before it even begins.

Beet salad was bomb!
Susan N.

Meh...this place was hit and miss. Hit: fried chicken, pork chop, hamachi tostada, even though it was overpriced and beet salad! Miss: everything else... Prices are really high for some dinky portions that you would be done eating in literally 2 1/2 bites. Fried chicken was outstanding, nice and hot. Pork chop was juicy with a delicious sauce, hibachi tostadas were yummy, but just a bit overpriced, and the beet salad was top-notch! Creamy and fresh. Potato salad was hard and tasted like it was from Costco, mac & cheese was watery. Collard greens were meh. Corn bread was just a rip off. Don't think I'd come again.

Hokkaido scallops, marinated olives and potato tempura in the back

What. A. Vibe. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by walls of records, an open kitchen, plush velvet furniture, and, of course, a disco ball. I've been here twice now, once for happy hour and once for dinner. I wasn't a fan of happy hour only being available on the patio. Since it was summer, I think most people would've preferred the AC over 90-degree heat. My dinner experience, however, was much better. My friend and I were seated inside and ordered the cucumber salad, sweet potato tempura, and Hokkaido scallops. For drinks, we had the Strawberry Paloma and the Calypso, which came with a fiery shot of rum served inside a lime. Our server, Priscilla, started us off with complimentary marinated olives. The staff was attentive and helpful throughout the meal. The cucumber salad was savory and refreshing. The sweet potato tempura had an incredibly crispy exterior with a slightly candied crunch. It was delicious. The Hokkaido scallops, served on a tostada with a savory sauce underneath, were another standout. To my surprise, the restaurant transforms into more of a club after 9 p.m. We wrapped up our 7 p.m. reservation around 10, just as the DJ started and the party crowd rolled in. I'd definitely come back for dinner, or stop by later in the evening for drinks and dancing with friends.

Braised Citrus Grilled Chicken Bowl & Grilled Filet Skewer

Ambiance: First time at Stereo61 -- initial thoughts were the vibes are super cute for a girls night! But also cute for a date, but it does get really loud as it slowly turns into a club / bar after dinner. Food and their respective rating: 5/5 Hamachi Tostada: amazing, i may dream about it because of how delicious it was. Loved the fresh ingredients and how the tostada kept its structure each bite. 3/5 Grilled Filet Skewers: good, but, would I get it again? Maybe not unless I were to share it with someone.. It was pretty heavy for me. 4/5 Tiramisu: very good, but also again I was full. But i loved the texture and the fact that it didn't taste like your average tiramisu. The nuts brought great texture, there was definitely hints of liquor in there as well. I would order again & share with a friend Service: Lastly our waitress was great! She was very friendly as she tended to us and all the other tables seated outside. Overall: I would come back here again, will bring the girliepops next time!

I love Stereo41. It is a great place for dinner, drinks and lounging around. The food is unique and the music after 9pm rotates nightly. I have been here twice now and the crowd is always classy and dj plays excellent music that keeps it fun and lively. We have tried almost everything on the menu at dinner and they are all so delicious! My favorites are the hamachi, lamb chop, risotto, beef skewers and hummus. Next I have to try the dessert and lunch!

MeChelle C.

This place is a whole vibe. Great for date night or girls night. I love the music that spins while having dinner. I celebrated my birthday here. Service was great as well, she was playful & professional. I love the elevated southern /soul food. I always get the oysters app & seafood tostada. The cocktails are always on point & perfectly balanced. The patio is beautiful. The booths are comfortable. I love the disco ball. The nightlife after dinner gets fun too! Even the hallway to the bathroom is insta worthy. Just Goooooo

I first discovered this place at a Yelp event and loved everything I tried, so I knew I had to come back for dinner. This time we ordered the scallops, lamb chops, pita bread, fish taco appetizer, and everything was absolutely delicious. The scallops were my parents favorite dish of the night, but honestly, every item we ordered was fantastic. Great food, great flavors, and a place we'll definitely be returning to.

Quite honestly the best service, vibes and food in a long time. Zajack was super fun and gave great drink and food recommendations. Food was 10/10. The place was beautiful. My new favorite restaurant. Can't wait to return.

Sandy L.

The food here genuinely impressed me, the sweet potato tempura, meatballs, and pita bread are all worth coming back for, and the overall menu has a lot going for it. The ambiance is also a vibe; it's the kind of place you want to love. That said, service is one of the things I weigh heavily when trying somewhere new, and unfortunately it was the low point of the night. Our server had us waiting 20-30 minutes both to get our order taken and to receive the check, and it was hard not to notice she was mostly engaged in other convos or not tending to us at all. We made a few attempts to flag her down and felt invisible which made me a bit frustrated On the drinks - the Calypso were enjoyable but leaned on the lighter side/juice heavy The food and atmosphere are there but the service needs to improve . I'd consider returning but I'd hope for a more attentive experience next time.

I enjoyed my visit here. I love the vibe. Good ambiance, good music, good service, and, above all, good food. While you're looking at $25 for a main, price is justified by generous portions and each dish is shareable. We enjoyed our food while listening to 90s slow jams and r&b. The cornbread was fantastic. I also recommend the fried chicken, nicely crispy and the glaze was not too thick. Short rib was perfectly tender, although seems too soupy on the sauce. Definitely a good addition to the Walnut Creek dining scene.

The menu has so many good sounding choices so it was hard to decide what to try for my first visit. I settled on the smothered pork chops meal and my friend decided to go with a conservative choice of a fried chicken meal. We placed our order and sat at one of the outside tables. One of the workers came out and gave us a Hot Link slider with french fries sample. The Hot Link slider was delicious and the fries were prepared the way excellent fries are made. The fries tasted like the ones that you quick fry, remove and then fry again. They were tender, great seasoning and a nice fried crunch. We both loved the sample more than our lunches The chicken came with two pieces of fried chicken, corn on the cob and my friend chose mac n cheese as his side dish and a corn bread muffin. He loved the Mac n cheese and the muffin which was very moist and tasted great. He thought the chicken was good, not real juicy or flavored but a good fried chicken. My smothered pork chops plate was huge, came with 2 good sized fried pork chops, corn on the cob and I chose potato salad and a roll. The pork chops were relatively tender, the gravy was a little more liquidity than what I normally eat, potato salad was a very good homemade side dish and the gravy over the rice was tasty. I would have preferred a more thicker traditional homemade brown gravy. I couldn't finish my order for lunch so I ended up getting two meals out of my lunch. We plan to go back to have the hot link and french fries. The menu has a wide variety so we'll have go back a couple of times to try some of the other dishes. Service is excellent and you get generous portions. Visit Frickin Fried for good home style comfort food.

4 Stars! If you've…read moreread my other reviews, I'm pretty much a stickler for a clean restaurant. This one didn't pass the test. I'm basing this on my second time here because the first time I was sat at a table, not a booth. We were out for the morning, and decided to come here for lunch before having to take my son to the airport. I had come before and loved the sauce. We got there as they opened and were the first ones seated. They tried to sit us at a booth, but it was dirty, so we moved to the next one, still dirty, but we sat down anyway because it was cleaner than the first. The first table - the table itself was dirty, and the back of the booths had sauce and oily handprints all over them. The second table, the table was cleaner, but the booth backs were dirty with sauce and oily handprints. I kept reminding myself not to sit all the way back. I used the bathroom to wash my hands but did not use the toilets. Bathroom could use a deeper clean. One thing is they have kind of weird decal thing on the wall by the bathroom which if you don't take the time to read, seems really in appropriate So due to the cleanliness, I'm marking it down a star. As for the food and service, excellent. I really didn't think I would find another place better than my go-to in Berkeley, Bag O Crab, but I did. I don't know what it is about their sauce but it's just a little bit better than Bag. I got their house sauce, mild. Next time I'll get medium because there was no spice at all. I am just used to other Cajun spots, I guess, and ordering a mild, only for it to be super spicy. I like that they stay true to the word mild, lol. Especially for those who can't handle heat. Everyone enjoyed their boils. My husband ordered the catfish and he said it was excellent. The only thing we didn't really care for was the garlic noodles. Bag has the trophy on that. I love that they bring you lemons, s&p in little containers, bibs, all utensils, etc. at the beginning. So you don't have to wave down staff to bring you that. The bucket for shells and the boils coming in trays, so nice! We will definitely be back. I just hope they clean the booths soon, lol.

The noise was a bit loud that I felt I had to almost yell to have a conversation with my husband. But the vibe was great. I enjoyed looking around at the decor. We ordered: - TRUFFLE FRIES for appetizers - I loved everything about it. haha. Tastey! - linguine & clams - I ordered this. It was good. However, I felt it was way oily. And after every bite I took, I had to wipe my mouth. And I accidentally spilled oil on my shirt. - PASTA ALLA CARBONE with steak - My husband enjoyed it and started to get full towards clearing out his bowl haha. - SCALLOPED POTATOES - I ordered a side of this. Definitely was not expecting to look the way it did, but I thought the presentation was beautiful. It was good; however, I was not a fan at how crunchy and hard the top first layer was. In a few areas, it was almost burnt. But I thought it was pretty good without the need for a type of sauce on the side. - For drinks, I had to Summer sangria and my husband had the Rumble in the Jungle. We enjoyed it.
