A beautiful new restaurant with incredibly flavorful and delicious Middle Eastern food and a live DJ. Visited here for a double date in late December and all four of us enjoyed the meal and vibes. The Hamachi Tostada deserves 5 stars on its own. If you come here, you MUST order it. The fresh fish comes with chili crunch, avocado, and umami mayo on a crispy tostada, and it is bursting with flavor. It's been 3 weeks and I'm still daydreaming about it! For my entree, I got the Braised Lamb Neck, which is another 5-star dish. As an individual serving, the tender, flavorful lamb was cooked to perfection with zataar, herb, and pomegranate and served on turmeric rice. The portion was large, possibly sharable for two if you have a couple of starters/appetizers. I took home leftovers. My fiancé got the Slow Cooked Beef, which was also very tasty with tender meat and a generous portion. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the Nori Falafel, which felt a bit flavorless in comparison to our other food. I was happy to see they have a selection of tasty zero-proof cocktails! I enjoyed my Palomita. Stereo41 is great for celebrating special occassions or for a fancy date night, as it is pricey to eat here for dinner. They recently changed their menu, so it was actually different from what my friends had when they originally recommended this place to me. The beet salad was amazing! My guests and I loved it so much that we ended up ordering another one. Definitely one of the standouts of the meal. The honey-battered fried chicken was delicious, crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth trying. The pork chop was another one of my favorites. It was flavorful, tender, and cooked perfectly. I just wish the cornbread was bigger because the combination of the honey and apple butter was seriously addictive! I could've easily eaten more. The short rib pepper pot was also really good. Ok, I now understand the hype about this spot! After a grueling work week, I was in the mood to try something new and fun. Stereo41 is the new hot spot in Walnut Creek, with a cool and unique concept. The cuisine is Middle-Eastern with Japanese influence - what a cool combo, and one that executes very well. The flavor combinations jump at you, and will revive even the most jaded palates. We ordered the hamachi tostada ($23), and the other reviewers raving about it weren't lying. Fresh hamachi, with avocado and chili, in a umami mayo sauce. Oh wow. Beautiful flavors, just the right amount of spice, and they didn't skimp on the fish. Nice crunchy texture as well. Do try this. We also went with a dozen oysters ($2/oyster on the happy hour menu, 6 piece per customer limit). The habanero/shallot mignonette is nice. We also had the trout sashimi ($16). I enjoyed the citrusy shiso sauce. Beverage-wise: The Sassanid Smash cocktail is tasty. Interesting tamarind flavor you don't find in too many cocktails. Also tried the Stereo Martini; beautiful presentation but a bit too sweet for my taste. Attractive interior, with lots of pops of color. Evidently the cool artwork was done by one of the owners himself! One thing I would change is the seating area in the dining room. Instead of tables and chairs, I would suggest more of a lounge layout, with low tables, rugs, stools, pouffy cushions to sit on, etc. and some colorful curtains to cover the large windows and create a dimmer, more intimate environment. Stereo41's other claim to fame is the sound system, which they evidently invested a lot into designing. I'm sure audiophiles will appreciate this aspect of the experience, but it's a bit lost on me, tbh. Maybe it's the music genre. Let's put on some Purple Disco Machine (perfectly fitting for the ambiance!) and I'll be sold. Strong start for this new Walnut Creek spot. I'm confident they will do well. Started with the pita and tuum which was simple but really good. Warm pita, tons of flavor. We also grabbed a couple cocktails and they were solid, easy to drink and well balanced. The slow cooked barramundi was cooked really nicely, but the braised lamb neck was the favorite at the table. Super tender, rich, and comforting without being too heavy. A few other things to note..the ambiance and stellar vibe. I adore the vibrant colors and pop of pinks throughout the restaurant interior/exterior. I can't wait to already come back for an evening event (cue the babysitter!). The interior is spacious, and the outdoor space is just waiting for fun. The bar is beautiful and the cocktails look divine. I went with a zero proof Sour Candy mocktail for this go-around, and that was the perfect sip decision. We were invited to the soft opening and from the moment I walked in, the vibe was vibing. Velvet walls, graffiti-style art, moody lighting, it's giving hip, modern, and effortlessly cool without trying too hard. And then the DJ starts playing the perfect soundtrack... like okayyy, ambiance, I see you. 10/10 on the energy. Drinks: Amazing. Like the type of drinks that make you forget you swore you were "only having one tonight." Balanced, flavorful, dangerously smooth. Starters: Hamachi tostada, Listen LINDA. LISTEN. We ordered the marinated mussels, the hamachi tostada, the mezze platter, togarashi chicken, and the slow cooked barramundi. I recently gave up liquor so I ordered a sour candy mocktail ... OMG- so good!! It was refreshing and had the right balance of sweetness and sourness. I My girl ordered the Dubai Alexander and she said it's one of the best cocktail she's ever had (I was so tempted to try for real) So the minus star is due to our mezze platter that never came out. The mussels and tostada came out quick, but our main took a while to come out. So we were waiting for a while in between the app and main. I am sure because it's a new restaurant so they are still ironing out the kinks. I wish I could give half stars, so I can give them a 4.5, is because everything we ordered was DELISH. I highly recommend the tosatada, so much flavor and so fresh. I also recommended the chicken. It is a great portion to share and it was also very tender and juicy. The stars of the show were the drinks though. I had a mocktail (Sour Candy) that was very tasty and well made and I had a cocktail (Calypso) that was like a classic tiki drink but with a nice hint of herbal bitterness (from the Campari) -- plus it came with a flaming 151 shot in a hollowed out lime on top! I gave the Bartender a custom recipe for a Drink I made and he nailed it. My frend had ordered their version of the Manhattan and it tasted great with the Cardonmon. Mushroom Skeweres, Tuna Tartare, and Hamachi Tostadas were really good. Definitely a new place to try before they start the Music and Live Deejay. If I could leave zero stars, I would. Came here with a work group. I have a food allergy, so I called ahead of time and asked if their food contains the allergen. I was told no. So, off we go for dinner. When we get there, around 6:30 or so, the place has only a handful of occupied tables. The music is so loud, we can hardly hear each other. We order drinks, which took a very long time to get to us. We finally get our drinks and start to order our food. By this time, we have been there for at least 30 minutes. I double-check with the server taking our orders whether the allergen is in any of the food. She replies that it is in EVERYTHING. So, here I am, at a table with my co-workers, and now I can't eat anything. The server was amazing and took some time to help me figure out what I could order. However, once the food arrived (after at least another 30 minutes), and I started to eat, I realized the food was not prepared without the allergen, as requested. I had a reaction. Luckily, it doesn't kill me but the side effects are every unpleasant. My manager went and complained and the manager, or owner or whomever, came over to the table. He gave a bunch of excuses and not once did he apologize. I dunno. Maybe it's just me... I've only been in the service industry for 30 years our so, but when a customer is rightfully unhappy, you apologize, at the very least. As I mentioned before, the music was so loud. I am fine with loud music. I definitely blast it at times but this was not an appropriate level for the time of day and the patrons in the restaurant. The music was club level loud, at 6:30/7pm. This wasn't 9 or 10pm. We saw 2 parties leave without being served. I'm sure the level of music had something to do with that. The service was incredibly slow as well, so I'm guessing that also had something to do with it. Now, the food is good; it's definitely good. However, the complete lack of organization, the slow service, the lack of situational awareness.... honestly, it's a HARD pass for me. I will never recommend this place to anyone. My guess is that Daddy funded the restaurant, and the "Manager" has no idea how to run a restaurant. It's clear, to everyone that was sorting at our table, that whomever is "running" the place, has absolutely NO clue WTH they are doing. 0 out of 10. Do not try. read more

Our experience at Stereo 41 in Walnut Creek was incredibly disappointing, especially since this was our second bad experience here. We were excited to try their new breakfast menu. When we arrived, there were only three other people seated in the restaurant. The hostess seated us without menus. After waiting about 10 minutes, we finally got up and found menus ourselves. We then waited more than 20 minutes before a server even came to our table. We asked for recommendations on the new food and told she didn't know hadn't tried it. When our waitress arrived, she seemed completely unfamiliar with the menu and struggled to enter our order into the handheld system. She did not repeat our order back to us, so we called her back specifically to confirm what we had ordered. We also asked her for recommendations and were told she hadn't eaten any. She didn't ask us how we wanted our eggs cooked either. About 20 minutes later, our food arrived completely wrong. We ordered four breakfast meals. Instead, we received three sides of eggs and a side of bacon. We also had serious concerns about food-handling practices. Our waitress served food while wearing extremely long artificial nails. We watched another employee wear gloves while touching money, the computer, and food without changing the gloves or washing his hands between tasks. We asked for the manager on duty and explained everything that had happened. Unfortunately, the response was no better. He did not introduce himself, seemed equally confused about what was happening, and offered no immediate resolution. After waiting another 10 minutes, we finally got up and left. What makes this worse is that this was our second poor experience at Stereo 41. During our first visit for drinks, one of our drinks was served with a metal nut inside the glass. We were told our bill would be taken care of and refunded. That refund never happened. Two visits, two major problems, and no meaningful resolution either time. The combination of extremely poor service, incorrect food, concerning food-handling practices, lack of management response, and our previous experience makes it difficult to understand how this restaurant is operating at this level. We were able to drink, and have some bites, and as an older crowd, I liked that we were able to hear each other in conversation at the table so acoustics were solid. The menu looked very delicious but we had arrived already having had dinner. The other patrons were lovely, tried to get us on the dance floor. We came here for New Year's Eve, $50 per person which included a DJ and one glass of champagne. So glad we made a reservation because there were definitely walk-ins waiting. We arrived around 10:30PM and assumed they'd bring the champagne closer to midnight, so we ordered cocktails in the meantime. But then I noticed other tables already being poured champagne, and even getting refills. When we asked, our server said we could have ours whenever we wanted. By that point we already had drinks and didn't want the champagne sitting there going flat. There was just a lot of inconsistency with how the champagne service was handled that night. That said, once we did get ours and finished it, we were offered refills and some of us ended up having 2-3 glasses, which was nice and kind of made up for the earlier confusion. The music wasn't totally my style for most of the night, but there were definitely a few good songs mixed in. Service was a little spotty. It was hard to get water refills, and we eventually had to go up to the bar ourselves to ask for water. Shoutout to Dewy, the main bartender, he was super cool and came around to our table offering more champagne and even did a fun "pour straight from the bottle" moment, which added to the NYE vibe. I would come back just for Dewy! but sit at the bar! The billing situation at the end was a bit awkward. My sister had prepaid for two people, and we added two more a few days before and were told she could just pay for them at the restaurant. When the bill came, my husband paid it. But a couple days later, my sister noticed she had also been charged for the two additional guests. Thankfully we had a photo of hubby's receipt, and she was able to get the refund sorted out. My table ordered everything she recommended, and I was pleasantly surprised with the unique flavors and textures of the various dishes. The Halloumi Cheese looked like tofu and had a similar texture but when you bite into it with the fig, honey, and sesame, you are greeted with a nice salty and sweet flavor combination. I also enjoyed the Hamachi Tostada. While it was another great dish, just beware there is a slow burn to this one. The chili will sneak up on you! If you choose to get the Hamachi Tostada, I recommend you order the Limonada mocktail. The creaminess of the drink will help put out the burn. The braised beef paired perfectly with the turmeric rice. The crunch of the pistachios was a nice touch to the rice. I expected the radicchio salad to be bitter but the berry vinaigrette and burrata helped balance the flavors so it was not bitter at all. If it's an option on the menu for the night, try the Miso Almond Ice Cream. It was an unexpected but flavorful dessert. The ambiance felt like a contemporary and trendy lounge. Although there wasn't a DJ present (he/she apparently comes around 9:00 pm), the music wasn't too loud. I could hear the conversation at my table. Took my friend out to Stereo41 for her birthday. It was so much fun! The music was great and food was delicious. Such an interesting mix of Middle Eastern and Japanese cuisine. We decided to order a number of dishes and share them family style. Mine and my husband's favorite was the lobster risotto and my friend loved the hamachi tostada. The stereo mezze platter is great for sharing and the sweet potato tempura was good (more sweet than savory). The cocktails were fun and yummy too! Looking forward to going back soon. read more

We had a great time at dinner! The DJ was excellent the service was great! We had the seafood platter and the oysters were delicious. While i understand why it happened, we were abruptly told that someone was waiting for our table. The bummer, was that the tables on either side of us were there before we arrived and they didn't get the same abrupt (there wasn't a heads up) someone is waiting for your table. That being said, I will go back. And I get why restaurants need to turn over the table, I'm more reacting to how it was done (abrupt and inconsistent). read more

Really wanted to love this place, but left without eating. We were so excited to try this spot, but unfortunately, the service was completely missing in action. After being shown to our table, we sat for a full 20 minutes without a single server stopping by to greet us, take a drink order, or check in. It wasn't even overwhelmingly packed, so it was pretty disappointing watching staff walk past our table multiple times without acknowledging us. The only bright spot was the busser, who was kind enough to bring us water when he noticed we'd been waiting for a while. We really appreciated his attentiveness, but after 20 minutes of waiting, we realized we weren't going to get served and decided to just leave and eat somewhere else. I know restaurants have off nights, but sitting ignored for that long just ruined the experience. Hope they can sort out their table communication, because the space itself seems great. read more

what a new gem in WC! came here on a Friday night for dinner and the place was definitely buzzing. the inside is a very electric, sexy, upbeat atmosphere. on the weekend they have a dj playing which makes the vibe feel very young and fun. the bar also has full service. our waitresses were kind and attentive. food was soooo good! everything ordered was truly a hit. i recommend the hamachi sashimi and the tenderloin kebab. drinks were made well too! the owners are also excellent and really value service and quality of food equally. will always bring my money here! read more

We attended a birthday party at Station 41 and overall had a really good time. The venue has a nice atmosphere, lively energy, and good drinks. We ran into a bit of a delay with our food and communication around the wait could have been smoother. However, management stepped up to make things right and the food was delicious once it arrived. The bus staff was a little over-eager to clear plates right after our food landed, but despite those service bumps, it's a great spot in Walnut Creek. We'd definitely come back! read more

Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 - excellent Value 2.5/5 The takeaway I'll remember from Stereo41 is the vibes and ambiance from the intimate and romantic decor and DJ/sounds making it a solid date spot or loungey meal. We ordered the individual portions of the braised lamb neck, slow cooked beef, lamb merguez, stereo mezze platter, and almond cake desert. The food is solid and very tasty to make it a well rounded experience, however it doesn't hit the "blow you away" mark. The miso hummus, fromage blanc spread in the platter have great flavor and are memorable. The overall taste to me, is higher standard. Service was standard, no reason to take away any stars, but could've been slightly more attentive on beverage refills. Nice staff and personality though. Where it gets its point reduction to me is the value. I understand it's in downtown Walnut Creek with an elevated upscale vibe driving the cost, but for $70-90 per person, I wanted a more memorable bite to my meal. For those, where budget isn't a factor, you'll have a great experience here. For those looking for the best food to pair the price tag, I think those will be slightly disappointed. For myself, this was a business meal with no cost to me so I was satisfied with my dining experience. read more
