I hired them for a one bedroom move. They were pretty quick, which was nice and the only reason they have even 2 stars. When they arrived to the new location, they wouldn't unload until I paid, even though the job wasn't done yet. They said they were charging for 3 hours, which was the minimum. They were unloading and there were 2 of their wardrobe boxes left unpacked. They said they were thinking about leaving the boxes, with no charge, or if I wanted they could unpack them. I asked to have them unpacked. They went back outside, I thought to continue unloading, but no, they left without saying a word and without unpacking the two boxes. After they left, I was unpacking and moving boxes out of the way, and saw my couch. Before they brought it over it was clean, it arrived dirty and had dirty hand prints and a large smudge of something. I contacted the company on yelp and sent pictures. They said they would talk to the team and get back to me. I messaged again after a week or two to follow up and no response. Very disappointed, can't recommend. read more

Hired Space Y Moving to help me move some furniture I purchased. Rate was a good price and the contract had normal fees for large items and double drive time rate etc. The two men Dennis and I believe Antonio were very nice to me. They finished the job in the same time I anticipated so they were efficient. One thing I will complain about is that they would not assemble my bed without trying to charge me additional money even though the contract stated disassembly and reassembly of non appliance type items. First they said they'd assemble it for $400 which was insane when I said no id do it myself he tried to say he'd do it for $100. Not sure why I needed to pay additional money when the contract stated assembly but I declined and built it myself. Took me less than 40 minutes to just screw a couple bolts and slide slats in by myself. Very scammy. Although the rate was good and service was fast I don't appreciate them thinking they could scam me into additional charges when the service should've already been provided. If you do book with them just double check your contract and verify they're not trying to charge you extra. read more

We just completed a cross town move with STEP Movers and I was extremely impressed with Zane and his crew. They moved my daughter and son in law from a 3-bed, 2 bath condo ( 3 narrow flights of stairs ) and a full garage into a 2-story single family home. They dealt graciously and expertly with the challenges ( king bed and washer / dryer) . Again, at the new location they worked with us to make sure the vinyl flooring and carpet were protected and then moved us in quickly, while offering helpful suggestions that helped make the new house a home for my daughter and her family. Firstly, they pressure you into writing the review when they're there at the end of the service. Do not do this until you have checked all your belongings! And it's clearly why they have such great reviews. Initially, I thought these guys were great! Arrived promptly, started to load. Then the slow down happened... they wasted significant time dismantling furniture. They do didn't bring their own tools (or were out of battery) to do this. I was watching the clock, hours on hours. It took over 8 hours to move a 2 bedroom apartment from the ground floor. I paid for their lunch break, inclusive of food, and all this was added to the cost, and didn't complain about it. Here comes the fun bit. Upon arrival to my new apartment, the tv was unwrapped, so assumed it was fine, until it wasn't and there was clearly damage. They have been less than helpful in resolving the matter, so avoid Space-Y movers!! There are plenty of other moving companies to go with in LA, I would suggest you use them instead!! *UPDATE: reported the issue the morning after the move, so as the lead Jake suggested, a timely manner was done. When reaching out to various moving companies, I ended up going with Space Y Moving due to the excellent communication with Jake through Yelp. They also were able to accommodate our request for a smaller 16 foot moving truck as opposed to their 26 foot truck due to landlord requirements and two pick up locations (storage and old home which has stuff on 2 floors before dropping off at new home, which also had 2 floors). Sam, Ali, and Erzhan are incredible humans first and foremost! We truly value their work ethic and strength! Our furniture was handled with care and their communication with us and each other was excellent. The total job took four hours when I thought it would take much longer. I hired STEP Moving and Storage to move from a multi-level condo to a two-story home, and I could not be happier with my choice. They were by far the most reasonable for pricing, and when they came they didn't charge for extras like using their wardrobe boxes or their packing tape. They were exceptional and capable, and communicated well throughout the job about timing and which items to pack/wrap/etc. They disassembled and packed multiple sofas, multiple beds (one a crib), and re-assembled everything with little issue. They also moved several large items of furniture down steep and narrow staircases. They were very careful not to ding my walls and I don't think there was a single mark in either location. This is the second time I've hired this company, this time to help my mom move. The three guys, Aza and his team, were very nice, worked very hard and efficiently. They were careful with my mother's belongings, wrapped the fragile items in moving cloths and all furniture were wrapped prior to moving. They disassembled and assembled items for my mom, and were nice to place all the furniture in the desired rooms. The only complaint I have is with the company for charging me the 20 minutes commute, so instead of 5 hours of work, I was charged 5 hours and 20 minutes. I don't believe that's fair because it is travel time and they are already charging $50 in gas flat fee. The distance between the two places was only 5 miles. Plus, I don't believe I was charged travel time the last time. There was a weird moment during the move though. I asked the movers to leave behind some lamp stands and throw away the bed frame, but they brought it on the truck. When I noticed those items on the truck, I asked if they could dispose those since there was not enough space at my new place. They said it would require me to pay extra tip since they had to do extra work....even though they recalled that I had asked them in the beginning to throw those items away... First off, it was a breeze getting a quote from this company - I requested 3 movers to arrive at 10am on a Sunday for a 1 bedroom apartment - and this included moving couches through a window because my front entrance was too small. The quote that Jake provided was fair, and the final bill came with no surprises (don't forget to add tip). They arrived right on time, but I was running a bit behind with my schedule and still had more stuff to pack up - Alan patiently and efficiently helped me with that, including providing boxes, tape, and assisting with filling up boxes. My experience with Space Y Moving was exceptional from start to finish. After reading multiple yelp pages from other companies, I was very hesitant with this being my first time coordinating. (I've always moved with family that dealt with it). The company's scheduling and communication was amazing. We rescheduled twice because of my own scheduling conflict but they were so graceful and understanding! This part alone deserved 5 stars. On the day of the move, I had 3 movers come on time, which they also called to tell me their ETA. All 3 went right down to business, moving, packing, wrapping but yet so gentle with our belongings. They were swift and communicative, always asking if there were any more packages for them to load. At the end, the truck was completely packed to the rim! When we got to our destination, unloading was even more seamless! Again, they went straight to business; they take their jobs very serious! Our home is 2 stories, and they carried beds, couches, etc. up without any trouble and with care. All said and done, I would absolutely use them over and over. This was no problem, they forwarded us a PDF immediately. We had a lot of heavy boxes, a sectional couch, a solid wood TV thingy, an Ikea bed frame, and a multitude of other smaller furniture items and odds and ends. Enter Aibek and Elaman. These guys went right to work, wrapping our stuff up with blankets and plastic wrap like elves in Santa's workshop (we're so close to Christmas, have to include a reference). But seriously, they were efficient, careful, and conscientious. Overall, our move took about 5 hours and we paid a fair price for all the work they did. We TRULY couldn't have done it without them.
