DELICIOUS CHICKEN SOUP DUMPLINGS! (New menu item!)

I finally got to taste the brisket "taco" with scallion pancake "tortilla, and it iis SENSATIONAL!

By far the best dumplings in town! I had originally found this place selling dumplings at the farmers market on the weekends, and recently learned they have an actual restaurant (yay)! To start, the woman working was extremely kind and hospitable and helped me pick out some frozen dumplings to take home with me after lunch. I also tried the $12.75 lunch special, which was a really great deal considering how expensive meals are in Austin at the moment. I got 4 of the chicken & shiitake dumplings and an order of the crispy pan fried noodles. It was plenty of food for lunch, and I even took some of the noodles home with me. If you're in the area it's definitely a great quaint place for a quick lunch that doesn't make you feel bad afterwards, in regard to both price and quality!

This was Plan B and we lucked out finding these tasty dumplings! We were a little worried that there wouldn't be enough space to sit but timing is everything and we snagged the last table.

Soup dumplings and Chinese sausage and rice

From the farmers market to their own brick and mortar! They make some of the best dumplings (frozen and fresh). The soup dumplings are great! Took about 5 minutes for them to get my order out. The Chinese sausage and rice was so good as well. The shop is small, there's maybe 4-5 small tables but seems like the bulk of their business is selling the frozen dumplings versus indoor dining.

Not fully allergy friendly place in few ways , vegan choice is one only I seen , yeast and wheat are not good so I can't really say I will be able to eat that but I did try the filling inside one , flavor was mellow and fully cooked veggies. Nice older and got some chili oil from her to Support and she talked about it how she made it and press into the jars and she had a smile as I checked out and got two bags of frozen potstickers one non-vegan. They make nice presents to others that are able to like them and I like them. I just think that if the outside dough was different, I think it would be more efficient for allergy friendly.

Went here for lunch and really enjoyed the food and PRICE! That had a really great lunch special! I got the dumplings and scallion pancakes! My friend got the beef taco that came on the scallion pancake and absolutely no complaints! Parking: fine- it is located in a big shopping center so plenty of parking! *one thing to note: they make things fresh so there will be some wait time from when you order until when you get your food!

My best friend and I walked into Steamies on Airport Blvd. and met the owner at the front desk. She was so sweet and helped us ordering our lunch which was Chicken & Shiitake Potstickers, Soy Sauce Pan Fried Noodles and cucumber salad that tasted so fresh and healthy. We also had the famous hand made soup dumplings that tasted so delicious. I would highly recommend this place for great food.

A great casual spot for Chinese dishes! It reminds me of the communal restaurants in Hong Kong, with its small flavorful dishes and small tables. Prices are reasonable so you can get 2-3 dishes depending on your appetite and share with others. I went on a weekday evening and it wasn't busy. I ordered the soup dumplings, which were fine but nothing special, and the Taiwanese beef taco, which I enjoyed! Thought it was a fun concept with the scallion pancake and coupled with the beef and sauce, it was great. I also tried the fried rice which was super flavorful. Soy sauce, hoisin sauce, water, utensils, napkins, etc. are self serve. Seems like a great spot to order to-go as well.

Stopped by on a rainy Sunday at around 11am for brunch. My husband and I were the only ones there, but the seats quickly filled up by 11:30am. I know Steamies from ACL and the Mueller's Farmers market, but wanted to try the brick and mortar! The shop is small with about 4-5 tables and a self serving cutlery and sauce station. Service is quick and very accommodating. We ordered a ton of items - 2 of each dumpling (they ran out of dumpling of the month), scallion pancakes, soup dumplings, and the taco! I really enjoyed the taco and the vegan dumplings. The regular and soup doublings were good, but not my favorite. The wrapper was thick in my opinion. Overall a decent spot to get your dumpling fill!

THE BIG: Located in the Ranch 99 shopping center right next to Sazan Ramen. Tiny space but functional. Parking is in the lot however the lot gets filled quickly during peak lunch and dinner times. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here on a Sunday as it opened. No one was in and we ordered a couple of items that included the scallion pancakes, soup dumpling, scallion pancake taco, and a medley of dumplings. The scallion pancakes were great and the taco was a twist on that. Filled with barbacoa and then folded into the pancake. It was pretty good. The soup dumpling was alright, wrapper was a bit thick but the flavors were there. I wish there was the classic dipping sauce (ginger and vinegar) however they only had soy sauce when we went. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, damage done was around $40 for everything. We did order alot of food and it was the perfect base for the rest of the day.

Scallion pancakes, HK noodle rolls, mix and match dumplings

Limited seating in this shotgun restaurant located in the shopping strip by 99 Ranch. Handmade dumplings and quick courteous service. Dropped in for a very fast lunch and had the following: Mix and match dumplings: * Chicken and Shitake - thumbs up really tasty * Pork and cabbage - solid solid fare * Special of the Month - braised beef - just ok for me - it was rich in flavor but the texture of the beef (i.e. actual pulled beef vs ground) and the richness of the beef was a bit much Crispy Scallion Pancakes - actually pan fried and not flash fried - thumbs up for being good and not overly oily - good with the red chili and soy sauce HK Street-style Rice Noodle Rolls - surprisingly liked this. The rice rolls were so soft and perfectly cooked. It had a simple savory sweet sesame sauce I think. Soup Dumplings - these were good. They came in little aluminum cups so the broth didn't run off if you poked a hole. I'd definitely come back through here!

I do think Austin's food scene is lacking when it comes to Chinese food. Steamies Dumplings sells street food and I got the HK Street-style rice noodle rolls, Shanghai soup dumplings, and chili oil scallion pancakes. The space is small and the most of the tables only seat two people. It took a long time to order too (even though there was only one person in line) and we were not greeted. The food is very basic but it took a while to arrive (20 min). Scallion pancakes are too salty. Soup dumplings are okay, nothing special. I like the sauce on top of the HK rice noodles. Overall, the food was average. Don't come here expecting a filling meal, these are street food/small appetizers. Water and clean up is self-serve.

    Taiwanese beef tacos
    Michael B.

Located in the shopping plaza on Airport Blvd & Lamar Rd, Steamies is tucked away in between a couple of restaurants. Steamies does feel very Mom & Pop: the kitchen and seating area is relatively small, the plates are on the cheap side, the utensils are all disposable, and they have a somewhat messy and crammed condiment section. Frankly, I don't think it would cost them much to improve on these elements, which is why I'm docking off points. As for service, it can be hit or miss. One time I was ordering to-go, and it was some of the worst customer service, or even human interaction, I've delt with in a while. Another time we ate inside, and we had the sweetest lady take our order (probably owner?). She was very welcoming and warm. Now for the food... you MUST MUST MUST get the Taiwanese beef tacos. These are incredible and flavor-packed with every bite! The beef is well-cooked, the sauce and green onion pairs nicely, the crispiness of the shell, and even the sprinkle of ginger wraps it all up nicely. The soup dumplings are also very delicious. But more importantly, they are affordable. For some reason, Austin soup dumplings go for like $15 for 5, whereas here you can get them for $10. Smashed cucumber salad - also tasty. HK-noodle rolls? Eh I'd skip those - kinda boring. For a place like Steamies, you just need 1 star item to get customers coming back. Funny enough, that one item is not any of their dumplings, but their beef tacos!

The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. Perfect! Extra large plumpy shrimp with bits of sliced jalapeños and cooked veggies. Definitely not spicy or saucy. I enjoyed my choice of soup- egg drop, comfort soup for the soul. Ordering is still done with the QR code so we had one person order all the food and then we split the bill afterwards. You have to pay first before the order gets sent to the kitchen. The service has improved slightly, with us being so close to the kitchen. We were able to flag down servers to help us get an extra plate, tea cups, etc. Got a variety of dim sum classics: hargow (shrimp dumpling), siu mai, rice noodles, custard buns, chicken feet, chow fun, egg tarts, soy sauce noodles, charsiu bao, turnip cake My favorites are the siu mai, chow fun and custard buns! They also have non-traditional dim sum dishes such as soup dumplings, which actually originated from Shanghai. We got them and they were ok. We ordered a second time to get more custard buns but it seemed they ran out so it took some time for them to make them fresh. When they finally came, the buns were not smooth and it really looks like the custard was about to burst. Someone bit into theirs and the custard exploded onto their shirt. However, we all had a good laugh and still enjoyed the food. Have to have tea during dim sum so we also got our puer and chrysanthemum tea mix. Not sure if they usually charge for this, but we got it complimentary! Yay! If you are familiar with dim sum, then you know these are smaller dishes meant to be shared among the group! Everybody ate and was satisfied. Each person paid about $25 after tip! There's a designated parking lot with lots of spots. If you are looking for a dim sum spot that is not too busy, this is the place to go to!

The vibe is modern: very bright, well lit, with the lion statues in the front, tea pots on the walls and clean spaces. The nice thing is you can order dim sum even when the push carts aren't going, which I personally think is better since it's fresh. My wife felt like she had a ratatouille type moment when she bit into the sesame balls and the deep fried mince turnover. I personally thought while the dim sum had a good fry, it was about average on the flavor and texture, but like I said, some others in our group thought it was excellent. On the other hand, the main entrees, I thought were stellar. The Sichuan green beans (despite this not being a Sichuan shop) were the best rendition of the dish of anywhere I've had in town - very good fry on the green beans with smoky wok hei, well seasoned with the pickled veg too. When your five year old opts to eat just this and rice, you know you got something special on your hand. The seafood fried noodle is also very good - tender squid, shrimp and veggies in the crunchy noodle nest is a great contrast in texture, as well as a lesson in simplicity. The peking pork ribs are also incredible - saucy, not overly sweet sauce clings to the riblets and gives you something incredible to gnaw on. I prefer it in pork chop form, but this is stellar as I think I've only had this one other place that was even remotely close. Thanks to reviews from fellow Yelpers like Steve W. and Samuel C., I felt confident suggesting Ling Wu to my friends and my girlfriend. I made a reservation for that Wednesday night at 7:00 pm, and by the time we arrived, the place was absolutely packed. There was a line of people waiting to be seated. I don't know if they were walk-ins or also had reservations, but thanks to ours, we were sat immediately with ease. I definitely recommend making a reservation. The interior of the building is beautiful, as is the patio with string lights and shrubbery. We sat inside, and the lowly lit atmosphere was excellent. All of the decor really makes the space feel cozy. Water is served in little mugs, and a paper mat is placed on the table because they know Austinites are messy. We all ordered drinks. Two people got a Kirin Light, one got a cocktail, and I ordered their mocktail Spritz. We also shared an appetizer of the Szechuan Spicy Cucumber, which arrived as an incredible tower of cucumber that was both fantastic and delicious. I lowkey ate half of the tower. My girlfriend ordered their soup dumplings, which were pretty good. Soup dumplings are not really my personal style, but everyone else at the table loved them. I was most excited for my entrée. I ordered the Orange Peel Akashi Beef with a side of brown rice, and honestly, it is some of the best Asian cuisine I've ever had. I've seen reviews complaining about the price point, but you can't compare a wagyu steak to Texas Roadhouse, and you can't compare a sit-down Asian restaurant to a Chinese buffet. This is clearly a step above. You don't have to fully dress the part, but this is practically fine dining. Top tier service, top tier atmosphere, and top tier food. This isn't a casual noodle shop, buddy. Overall, it's an excellent experience and definitely worth the steeper price tag. I recommend Ling Wu if you understand that sometimes you have to pay more for a higher quality meal. If you're not that type of person, grow up, because you're missing out on some of the best Asian food Austin has to offer. RIYL: A great meal with a great atmosphere

Food was contemporary Chinese with American adaptation - but nevertheless well prepared and tasty! We had Peking Duck - ***** Pecan Shrimp ***** Sesame Chicken **** Beef with shishito pepper **** Green beans with garlic ***** Lychee mocktail ***** Service was superb! Prices are super reasonable for the quality of food!

I ordered hot and sour pork soup. I had never had hot and sour soup with meat. Portions were generous, ingredients fresh, and the food arrived smoking hot. The noodles were soft, smooth and flavorful. The pork inside looked like tiny meatballs. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the restaurant was completely full and customers were continuing to flow in. Because the restaurant is rather small, I had to wait about 20 minutes for my order. Jim, one of the owners, said if I had ordered 3 items it would take about 45 minutes, that's why I went with one. You could easily tell that many folks at the restaurant were regulars, which means the food, service or both were exceptional. Definitely will be returning to Three Gorges...

The cumin seeds give it that signature earthy, aromatic flavor and you get a slight tingly numbing spice sensation from the chilis and peppercorn. The lamb is not overly gamey, but it still does taste like lamb so if you are not really a lamb fan, I'd choose something else. - Jumping Fish: A very popular dish! Tender white fish fillets that is so soft it melts in your mouth. It is in a flavorful oil and broth that is refreshing from the fresh jalapenos. It is a savory dish, yet still relatively mild. It commes with napa cabbage as well! This was my favorite dish and I loved the flavor combined with the white rice. - Mapo Tofu (Vegetarian): They have one with pork as well, but I got the vegetarian version. Silky soft tofu cubes in that signature mapo tofu sauce and numbing peppercorns. Despite the appearance of all the dishes, none of them were very spicy. Overall, a comforting soft, spicy, savory dish with a slight tingle. - Eggplant in garlic sauce: A deliciously sweet and umami garlic sauce. The eggplants could have been a bit more cooked through in my opinion though since it was still quite firm. I loved it still! Note that all the dishes to me were not spicy just had an underlying subtle spice or tingle (like a finishing flavor note if you will). Also, since it is sichuan the dishes are on the oilier side. You order with the cashier at the front and pay up front as well. Food comes out quickly. It is a small space with three rows of tables (maybe around 12-15 tables give or take), so it does fill up fast. I went at around 5:40 PM on a Thursday and there was no wait, but by the time we finished eating at around 7PM, the restaurant was full. House of Three Gorges was hyped up a lot on my social media feed and through word of mouth, so I came in with high expectations. Luckily, they did not disappoint.
